Stopped here for lunch over the Bank Holiday weekend, we didn't book but we got seated, it wasn't overly busy. The restaurant has a nice cosy interior and good outdoor space too. The service was terrible and slow throughout which ruined our visit. Apart from this, the lunch was tasty and good value for money. But would not return due to service.

Can't comment on accommodation due to booking just for dinner. Both myself and wife loved the food. Great service from our waiter Hugo. Thank you for a lovely evening

Had quite possibly the worst pizza I’ve ever seen for £17, don’t order the pizza at any cost. Nice beer garden 👍🏻

The food was soo good and our waiter was lovely but we waited an hour for our food and many tables who had arrived after us got their food long before us .

Kids meal of sausages and mash was disgusting. I tasted the sausages and they were horrible tasting, dried out rubbish. With so many places selling decent produce in the area too. The mash was a scoped out jacket potato with nothing added. My meal was a minuscule burger that lasted about a minute. About the size of a starter for the best part of twenty quid. But worse was the service. Not one person came back to ask if it was all ok. Even when they eventually cleared the still full plate away, not a mention of why. Can’t see one single reason why anyone would go here. Saw so many people sending food back. That speaks volumes.

Pizza was awesome. The fish was a bit too fishy, outdoor patio is perfect!

The pizza i experienced at the Sheep was incredible. The fresh sourdough base, tasty toppings all came together to give a truly fantastic experience, in my mouth hole. Whilst the staff were polite and friendly, i can't say much more than that unfortunately, i just felt a little neglected as far as service goes. For example, a table check back was done via shouting across from an adjoining table as the server walked passed, it all felt a little detached and none-personal. But overall, our experience here was great and would be more than happy to recommend! Will be visiting again soon.

Amazing place, really friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. Food is delicious and the menu has a good range of dishes. Will definitely be visiting again. Would definitely recommend as the place to eat when in Stow in the Wold

Picked The Sheep to host my 50th and they put on a great party with a fantastic buffet in The Pen, and great service from the kitchen and bar. Lovely people. Thanks for making it a night to remember.

Pizza and Wings were cold, took ages for table to be cleared when we initially arrived. Wagyu burger was really nice however and the garden was a great spot in the afternoon sun. Not all staff friendly / helpful enough in my opinion.

Lovely meal and our waitress Stella was very nice and made sure we were taken care of.

The Sheep management has chosen not to respond to my complaints despite assuring me that they would. In view of the silence, I have posted the comments here. We stayed in 14B. I had dinner and when asked ‘how is the fish & chips’, I stated that the fish was 75% batter and 25% fish. This ratio should be the other way around. On signing the bill, I asked what the position was with the fish. ‘The chef apologises’ was the response. Really? At breakfast my wife asked if she could have sliced avocado on sourdough toast. The person taking the order - name omitted - said yes. When it came it was mashed avocado with other stuff. When we restated that she had asked for sliced avocado and he had confirmed this, he said ‘ no you didn’t!’. My order of sourdough toast came as a single piece of toast in the middle of a large plate. Nothing else. We decided to leave. The server asked ‘what are you doing’ to which I replied that we are going elsewhere for breakfast. He grabbed the plates, walked off and muttered ‘temper’. Really! This was a private visit as we are looking for a local home. The hotel was recommended by the estate agent Knight Frank. Our business is in hospitality. Your service is inhospitable and I’m surprised that you get repeat custom.

We had a nice dinner and desert for my birthday. Sarah was our waitress and made us feel welcome and appreciated. The food was very good, and the service was exceptional. We are staying across the street at the Porch House, so I’ve left the rooms questions blank. Thank you, Sarah!!

We had a late lunch at The Sheep, it is my husband's birthday, the service was so good, Daniela was our waitress and she was fabulous! She recommended the duck salad, which I had and it was soooo good!! Very welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend!!

Staff in hotel reception and bar/restaurant are very attentive, polite and friendly. Food was delicious and the pineapple rum cocktail made by barman Alex was spot on! Room was a little disappointing decor wise in comparison to other rooms within the same hotel chain (no ‘Cotswold’ feel) but very clean and comfy bed.

Sophie was a great host - Very tentative. Food was lovely and a great atmosphere.

Only visited for an evening meal. Great food with a good menu. Had some GF options available. Staff weren't so aware but were kind enough to keep checking on everything before allowing us to order and adjustments were made to suit, (again after some checking). Lovely place great environment. Great for an occasion or just a treat meal out.

Restaurant: friendly and accommodating staff with delicious food! The side of tender stem chili broccoli is one of the best veg dishes I’ve ever had; it was actually quite spicy. The halloumi fries were unparalleled. Got the kale & garlic (veg person) as well which was a bit wet for my taste.

We had a lovely meal at the Sheep this evening while watching the Football. It was made even better by Daniela who went out of her way to accommodate us. We did not even have to leave our seats as Daniela noticed every time we needed a top up. Great member of staff 😊

Came with friends for Sunday lunch & it was perfect in all aspects - ended up having the Sunday roasts & the Yorkshire puds were to ‘die for’ simply lovely. Staff were great attentive & friendly & even choose me a surprise Icecream scoop which was spot on !! Ambience 100% atmosphere 100% - would I recommend 100%

absolutely beautiful find, everything we ate was so tasty, the service and the location/ atmosphere was wonderful as well - we definitely recommend the mushroom pizza (the thinnest, crispiest dough!) and the wagyu burger, the chips and the fried squid were both incredible too!! we will be definitely bringing family and friends back here in the future🤍🥰

We recently hosted our son’s Christening reception at The Sheep. We’re local to the area so had been to The Sheep on many occasions before for food and drinks, but had never hosted an event there before. We couldn’t have picked a better place for the reception! Holly and the team delivered an exceptional experience for us and our 60 guests on the day - no mean feat on a bank holiday Sunday in the Cotswolds! Our guests all commented on the beautiful setting, fantastic food and great service - we were so delighted with how everything went. Holly managed our event in the lead- up and on the day to an exceptional standard, she’s an asset to The Sheep. So if you’re local in the area and looking for a place to host an event, look no further, Holly and the team will have you sorted!

The staff were excellent and accommodating, even though they were extremely busy. The host squeezed us in an hour earlier than our time slot and our waitress Daniela was very friendly and . The food was amazing. I had the fillet with butter and truffle fries. My wife had the mushroom pizza. Both were wonderfully prepared. Thank you Sheep on Sheep Street.

Absolutely loved this place! Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. A quaint little restaurant with a lovely interior ambience and plenty of outdoor seating should the weather behave. The beetroot hummus was very yummy as was the cauliflower wings and don't forget the rosemary bread. All soooo good!! They had a good selection of beers too and overall was just a delight to visit. Definitely recommend you visit this place, even if traveling through the area as you can't go wrong. Good for kids too!

We went for dinner here on a Saturday. It was busy and did wait over an hour for our food but with friends it didn’t matter and was expected. I asked to replace the couscous on my meal for chips as I’m not a fan of couscous and this was a hard no from the kitchen, but the waitress added some chips onto the order. I just had to avoid the couscous. My friends had the prawn pasta, and it wasn’t until afterwards when discussing that we realised some people had 7 prawns and others had 3/4. We also did not realise that they served the same menu as The Porch House opposite which made our Sunday lunch at the Porch House quite underwhelming if we weren’t having a roast. It would be good to differentiate the menu as it’s quite odd they serve the same things in such as close proximity! Otherwise we had a lovely evening.

The building is attractive, the interior is nicely decorated creating a nice atmosphere and the staff are polite and these areas get my 2 stars. However, this was the worst experience I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. We were a large party of 10 but had booked our table and submitted our food pre-order weeks ago. After arriving we were served drinks fairly promptly, but had to send a bottle of sparkling water back when we had asked for tap water. However, despite the food pre-order we then waited over an hour for any food. The staff did not commuicate well about the delay and only after we started to look uncomfortable did they come over and offer us more drinks. 2 Small tea cups of olives were then provided free while the wait for food continued. We had 2 young children with us who were due crudites with the kids menu-after over an hour of waiting these eventually appeared-4 slithers of carrot in humous-not great. Food then started to arrive, as did the more significant issues with the experience. One pre-ordered wagu burger was completely missed off, cue more waiting while it was cooked. The other wagu burger was so over cooked it was inedible and had to be sent back. The kids burger was also hugely over cooked. The kids mac and cheese was watery and my guess was it was a frozen meal. The mushroom pie also had the look of a microwave meal. The desserts were also terrible-a very strange take on a banoffe pie and tiny, tasteless key lime pie with an inedible pastry base. Overall really disappointing. I dont think this establishment has a kitchen equipped to deliver its menu, and the staff whilst friendly and polite were also unable to provide a good experience. I would avoid unfortunately, which is a shame as in the right hands I am sure it could be very successful.

First time visiting The Sheep had booked a table for food as we noticed live music was on ( bank Holiday sunday), the staff are so helpful and friendly, the food was really lovely, plenty of seats outside in the garden, the 2 guys that played were brilliant, we really enjoyed our time there and looking forward to visiting again

Awful service. Staff were trying their best but overwhelmed. Therefore the managers are doing terrible job and should apologize to the poor waiting staff for the stress they are putting into them. Food took an age to come. Rump lamb was meager. Don’t recommend at the price. Other meal such as flat bread and chicken burger were much better. There was a wedding on and clearly the kitchen could not cope. Don’t write reviews really but such a bad experience would say avoid.

We chose the Sheep on the back of various reviews for my wife, parents and 3 year old daughter. We were met by very friendly staff and they instantly catered for our daughter. The drinks list was great and my wife had the pleasure of a mocktail, so very happy. The atmosphere was great and we all felt quite happy. The food is where it went in two different directions. They catered for my daughter by doing some lovely fresh pasta with cheese. My wife had the vege platter with Hallumi fries, flat bread etc and my mother the pate, again both dishes got a thumbs up. My father and I had the wagyu burger. This arrived like warm at best for both of us. The chips were however lovely and crisp the bun nice and soft. We raised the issue and the burgers went back. They retuned out 5 mins later and were now just warm and the buns overly crispy, thus I can only presume they attempted to re-warm them in the oven. I would have raised the issue but I did not want to wait around for another 20 mins whilst they re did the order noting the rest of the family were already well underway. It could be that the patties are pre cooked as I was not asked how I would like it cooked. This could well be a blip but I did leave feeling a little underwhelmed despite them doing so many things well.

This is a review for the restaurant. Truly an oasis amid the English flavour desert. Wonderful to taste food after being stuck in the UK for 2 years. London and other metropoles there is proper food, but outside of it, not so much. This place is the exception. The Italian pizza chef is doing God's work here. He seems to hardly speak any English - perfect - let him remain culturally unassimilated. The proof is in the pizza. Great find in this hilltop town. Almost convinced myself I was in Tuscany when I tasted the food.

Just spent a couple of days at the sheep on sheep, Room was lovely we have a small dog there was a small garden for our use only perfect, Staff were very helpful and friendly, will come back thank you Barbara and Richard Towler Room 19

Went there for lunch. Unfortunately some vegetarian items in the set menu were unavailable at the time but the restaurant has great vegetarian options which lacks in rest of the stow on the wold restaurants. I had a passion fruit based mocktail and a plant based burger which actually had vegetables instead of fake meat. The only reason I gave one less star is we had also order another lychee based mocktail which they forgot at first and then when we reminded them they served us the same passion fruit based mocktail. This was during post lunch hour when there were just 3-4 other patrons besides us. The cost is a little on the higher end but the food is worth the cost considering the options, taste and location.

Quite disappointed in the pizza compared to the other review photos especially for the price, seems like they forgot half of my cheese, basically a dry tortilla with a sprinkling of cheese! :( on the plus, the deserts were amazing the pecan pie is the best I’ve ever had, wished I’d have had a different main course to match the standard of food that I’d the dessert.

A 2 night stay for a family birthday celebration. The hotel was comfortable and friendly, with welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere. A good selection of food and wines in the modern restaurant with a very well stocked bar, albeit they did run out of Chardonnay on the second night. The rooms were clean and comfortable albeit the stairs to rooms 1-12 in the main building were winding and might present some difficulty for the more infirm guest. The restaurant was very busy on both Friday and Saturday nights but the service was excellent and all 4 of us were full of compliments. Set close to the heart of Stow (300m) all the towns attractions were close at hand. Parking available to the rear was welcome given the lack of parking elsewhere. A good selection of other hostelries and local artisan food outlets and other specialist shops, with plenty of walks to nearby villages from the door of the hotel added to our enjoyment. A great weekend and venue heartily recommended, and the sun actually came out to play, to top it all off. 😃

Be careful, Vegan is not necessarily vegan! You have to say you have an allergy to dairy and eggs to make it vegan. They served a lovely vegan treacle tart from the vegan dessert menu with dairy whipped cream. They say they didn’t make a mistake, it was my fault I didn’t say I was allergic to dairy. No refund. Be warned if you have allergies, Vegan is not Vegan!

Nicole was our server and she was absolutely excellent. It’s rare to get continental service in the uk unless you are spending serious money. She was attentive, informative, friendly and helpful throughout. Waiting staff often make the difference between average and excellent and Nicole did just that! Aside from that, it was full on Sunday roasts and deserts all round. Everything was great. Zero complaints = 5 stars!

I write to you from the sheep, in the hotel room I am staying in. The evening started well, it's a lovely part of the 'wold' and a lovely looking place to eat. However... Now I am lying in bed at 1am having already asked next door to turn the TV down, I realise the walls are simply as thin as a fag paper, currently the couple upstairs have gone from what I thought was a situation that needed intervention or the police, to enjoying each others company rather a lot and have made up very well indeed. The long and short is, come here if you want to eat but not if you want to stay the night and listen to someone else 'eating' out.

So disappointing! On arrival the restaurant and bar looked lovely! The staff were friendly but then the food arrived! I ordered the king prawn and scallop paella which had no prawns and 1 scallop! My child’s roast dinner had the Yorkshire pudding missing too. I spoke to the girl that was serving our table she did apologise but then asked if I wanted the prawns I obviously said yes and she said they may take a while as they had to be cooked. I ended up getting some small see through prawns at the end of our meal which was very disappointing. I wouldn’t be rushing back as I think there’s much better places to eat in the Cotswolds.

First stay and visit, rooms are fantastic, really lovely place and location. We ate in the restaurant and were looked after by Sara on all occasions, her care and attention was outstanding. Sara was also very helpful on giving local information, and really is an asset to the Sheep. Overall the sheep and staff, especially Sara are Highly Recommended

What a joy, writing this at almost 11pm, we’ve had a superb evening here, arrived to be greeted by Jan on reception, lovely lady, then Lewis swiftly serves a Gravity (delicious) after a few more … Holly sorts us a table (what a standout host you are Holly) Luke suggests what to eat, great choices, thank you, Sophie serves and is delightfully chatty, the Piri chicken was perfect and the pizza bases a sensation, thank you Chef Sebi, hospitality is hard graft, this team are superb, my wife and I had a lovely evening, we appreciate you all … now we can’t wait for breakfast 😆. apologies no restaurant shots but the venue is beautiful, this from outside.

My wife and I went for Sunday lunch. Lunch was great, in fact we have had Sunday lunch in many of the local pubs / restaurants, but this is the best one yet.

Went out on Friday night. To the sheep and it’s was an incredible night out there. The women who was serving us her name was holly and she was incredible as well.. she’s a keeper.. keep up the good work holly lovely meeting you

We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening, first weekend in March. We were greeted well and shown to our table promptly, drinks orders taken and served quickly. Our waitress for the evening was lovely, friendly and had a laugh with us. Our meals were out of this world! Some of the best food we have tasted in a long time. We’re not dessert people and so just had starters and mains, but they were really outstanding, well presented, and so flavourful. We would definitely come back again.

Lovely 2 night stay at the Sheep. Second time we have visited. Hotel is very good for the money, the breakfast was excellent , thanks Scott. we ate there one night, I had king prawn paella and it was really enjoyable. Would recommend the restaurant.

A great spot to stay in stow-on-the-wold. Central yet peaceful, modern yet classic. Great room, very comfortable bed and great dinner and breakfast. Would recommend the circular 3.5 mile walk to Broadwell. Took approx 2 hours with bench stops to enjoy the village green and Church. Would recommend!

We stayed for a special birthday for my husbands 70th, upgraded to a superior room on the day of our arrival. I must say I didnt really see what was superior, looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The window in the bathroom was huge, although a frosted window, had no window covering, when getting in/out of the shower at night, you felt quite uncomfortable. There was lots of mold around the window in the bathroom & bedroom that had been scrubbed but not dealt with. Paint peeling off the walls in those places, lots of little things in the room that were left and needed attention, light switch over bathroom mirror, needed a handle on it, larger table that housed the tea/coffee facilities as nowhere to do your hair. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, but I wasn’t impressed by the room. Restaurant was good, lots of choice.

Super service despite there being a table of 18 at the same time. Good pizza with very good toppings, nice atmosphere it was a Monday night and it was busy....that says a lot.

Dog-friendly historic pub/hotel/restaurant just off the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold. Decent bedroom, which was very warm and a fabulous shower. The food was very good indeed and there's a wide range of drinks on offer. As ever, it is the staff that make or break a place and the people at The Sheep are excellent - chatty, knowledgeable and flexible. There is also a private car park - a little challenging to manoeuvre about, perhaps, but very useful. No question we would visit again.

Couldn't have been more perfect. I had a solo night away, and everything from the room, the service and the food was just impeccable. I really enjoyed myself. I am definitely going to book again.
