lovely room over a tea shop in the centre of stow, but the rooms are accessed by quite a steep staircase, the only downside was the strong cooking smells from the kitchens

The room was very nice and centrally located in Stow. Breakfast every morning was delicious and very easy. Only complaint is that the shower is extremely small even for the UK. Not necessarily a complaint but something to be aware of. Despite that minor issue everything else was perfect.

What great food. We are fussy and demanding and every dish we have there is of the highest standard , tastes incredible and of sensible quantity too. As long as they keep doing what they’re doing we would say Davenfords are the best breakfast/ brunch place to eat around.

Lovely little place this with lots of positives and a few negatives. On the plus side it’s cozy inside and the outside area is a nice option too. Choice of food looks great and our sandwich meal was yummy. On the downside, we went on a very light weekday and it took quite a while to be served as staff seemed to be off doing other jobs. Quite expensive for what it was. A simple sandwich and a can of Coke was around £13. The toilet which is outside was pretty neglected with paper towels piling up and old toilet roll cardboard on the floor. Great potential this place and we would venture back but they just need to tighten up on a few things to justify the price tags.

Location was good. Breakfast was good but could have more options to choose from. Towels need to be replaced as they looked worn out. Carpets in the room need a good clean or replacement. Otherwise was a pleasant stay here.

We stayed for 2 nights for a wedding. Gorgeous, cosy and huge rooms with everything you could need! Super comfy beds. Breakfast the first day was so delicious! We had too much fun at the wedding and the second morning we were at death’s door. The 2 men running the place were beyond kind and helped us make it through the morning by packing us some croissants to have in peace in our room, and even giving us a berrocca so we could make it to our bus in one piece. They saved our lives and we will be forever grateful. Aside from this, the food is delicious here and the atmosphere is so relaxed and cosy. Would definitely stay again!! Thank you :)

Oh my goodness, the best cream tea I have had in absolutely years. We used to go to a place in Ashdown Forrest (Duddelswell) and when we used to go there, they had scones made by the chefs at Hever Castle. They were scrummy. The place changed hands probably well over 15 years ago and very sad to say it did go downhill a bit. But I have now found my new fav location. I just wish it was a bit nearer our home (Surrey). We tried Huffkins in Stow last year and that was very nice. But Davenford knocks everything out of a cocked hat. The fruit scones were served warm and smelt delicious. They tasted fabulous too. They were very soft. The tea and coffee was great too. We enjoyed it soooo much we went back the very next day, and it was exactly the same. We only tried the scones and tea and coffee, but other things looked good too. I swear if we hadn’t been coming home the next day we would’ve been back again. I cannot praise this enough. If you get the chance, try it out. But please do not pack out the place if we want another visit, I would be desperately unhappy if I wasn’t able to get my beautiful scone fix. Well done Davenford, keep it up and be warned, we will be back as soon as we can holiday in this area again. Loved it.

We booked for two nights over the Easter weekend, and were given the top room which was lovely (room 5). All of the staff were fantastic, especially the lady who served us breakfast and allowed us to stay a further night to extend our trip as we enjoyed it so much. Breakfast every morning was great, as was the afternoon tea that we were offered.

100 yards off the square we are happy we found this place for a late lunch. Friendly service, nice compact menu. We had sandwiches and soup, the homemade soup had a punchy cumin flavour and a proper thick home made texture, The sourdough for the sandwiches was perfect beautiful bread baked in the same town. We had our dogs with us. Lots of choice in Stow, glad we stumbled up on it.

It is evident in all the little details that the people running this place really care about quality and providing great products with great service. The coffee was very nice and all the food was delicious. Special shout out to the carrot cake. Lovely little touches like the small ‘twist’ of butter that came with the warmed scone. We had ordering envy when the incredible looking bacon and egg sandwich arrived on the table next to us! The smell of baking is delicious and on a cold February day, nice touch to have a real fire crackling away in the corner. Will have to come back in nicer weather and enjoy the garden tables. Keep up the good work!

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted with a lovely big smile from the lady owner and were instantly made to feel special. We were shown to our room which was very quaint and great value for money and then told a Cream tea upon arrival and breakfast the next morning was included. The food we ate was some of the best we’ve had in a long time and together with the nice atmosphere and the service we received from the owners and staff made us feel like we were at home. The next morning after a great nights sleep and a lovely soak in the large bath we went down for breakfast which was again superb. We left the premises an hour later with a smile on our faces and feeling very happy with the way we’d been treated. All in all this place is a superb little gem and the owners and staff have got this place so right in every way. A lot of other similar businesses could take a lead out of the Davenford’s book to improve on their own experience and customer service. This place is the best service we’ve had anywhere in the country for a long time. Thank you for making us feel special

Overall, a good stay, other than the most serious matter of fire safety. It would have been nice to have an option on the time for breakfast, other than be told it was at 9.00am. Very annoying the number of messages, and e mails received after initial booking online. At lease 12 in the space of ca couple of days!

We selected Davenford Stow Gardens as a base for a stay in the Cotswolds. The team were extremely helpful during the booking process and we received excellent instructions about the check-in process, parking and what to do/where to eat during our stay. Breakfasts were excellent as were the afternoon tea scones which we ended up taking away with us. The room was roomy, clean and very comfortable, and quiet at night even though we were facing the street. A very relaxing stay which we hope to do again.

Warm and cozy room, everything we needed, tea, coffee and water. Really lovely breakfast in the coffee shop below, we had delicious smoked salmon and cream cheese and poached eggs and bacon on sour dough. Beautiful log fire and ambience in the coffee shop, brilliant and friendly service. We also had a complementary cream tea and the carrot cake is out of this world! Would definitely recommend!

On a cold wet miserable afternoon we stopped for coffee. It’s a small cafe & it was a squeeze to get in, we almost walked away but due to the rain we stopped and sat at a breakfast style bar table. I’m so glad we did… The coffee is gooood & we enjoyed the most moist, delicious carrot cake & a lovely light chewy caramel millionaires shortbread. We gawped in wonder at the lunches that we’re going past us. It all looked so good. Will have to make a special trip back to sample more of their fayre!

The bread and cakes from here are epic - really good Croissant and the Sourdough is top class - can perch indoors if you are lucky or sit outside on some rather flimsy folding chairs, either way teh coffee is very good and even better with a bun! Quality of product is the main attraction, its not a large enterprise like some of the other places nearby. Worth finding.

The cafe is very basic which is fine, however, the prices are too high. Two coffees over nine pounds. We did have oat milk instead of cows and one was decaf but even so that’s the most we have been charged for two medium sized coffees anywhere in the UK. There was even a 10% service charge added to the bill which again was a first for us in a cafe. Staff were very nice but we won’t return. There is a limit to how much we want to pay for coffee. It’s not £9+.

The guy who works here is rude and condescending. Dare you not be a perfect coffee expert and ask for advice on which drink to choose.
