The New Inn in Cotswold

After a stroll around the lovely village we decided to pop in for a drink and hopefully some chips. We had visited here a while back and was pleased so thought it would be the same this time around. Place was deserted when we got to the bar area we encountered two women just having a chat at the bar. I asked if it would be ok to sit and have some food in the back garden, they said no food. This was ok as was going to have a drink, we went and sat in the back nobody came out to us, we waited 15 minutes still nothing, nobody even checked. You would’ve thought they would’ve appreciated the custom giving how quiet it was, seems having a chat amongst staff members were more important. We went and took our custom to the pub down the road, much more welcoming and lovely pub chips. Won’t be returning here as they clearly aren’t bothered.

We booked the skittle alley for my mum's 81st birthday and upon arrival it was so cold. We asked for the heating to be turned on, to be told only 1 radiator was working. It went on for about half an hour and then went off. We were all sat in coats. Surely if your function room is booked you'd have it nice and warm before the guests arrived. There are plenty of plumbers in the area if you need one. The bar had no staff either so when we wanted a drink we had to use the main bar. We also thought the owner would have come in and said was everything ok but no. We found it most unwelcoming. The food was nice though.

Visited on a wet Tuesday for lunch. Pub was quiet only one other couple. A table was reserved for 6 but that was it. The lad behind the bar was friendly. Menu is varied and included a couple of nice vegetarian/vegan options. I had the butternut and lentil wellington, it came with creamy chive mash, tenderstem broccoli and a delicious gravy, perfect comfort food. My husband had fish and chips which he enjoyed too. Nice beer from Donningtons brewery. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. What the pub lacked in atmosphere it made up for in food. Dog friendly too.

Been many a times over the years and had just been to another function out the back... always had good service and food.

We visited the New Inn for lunch as it was a great mid point meeting place for a family get together and what a great choice . We recieved a warm welcome the young man behind the bar was very attentive and jolly and the food was excellent . Will definitely return

We arrived at 8.07 for an 8pm booking, to be told very rudely that we were too late, the kitchen was closed, and that it was our own fault for not ringing to say we would be late. 7 minutes! The landlady also said we should have checked the website that ‘clearly states’ that the kitchen stops serving at 8pm. It does not, it says 8.30pm! She very grudgingly offered to cook us ‘something’ but we felt so unwelcome we declined and went elsewhere. She accused me of ‘shouting’ which I wasn’t, but I was certainly upset - we’d driven two hours and were tired and hungry. There were only four other people in the pub with n a Friday night. I think I can tell why.

Great food and friendly service

For those people who check the New Inn website & see that they supposedly advertise that they serve food until 2.30pm, don’t bother as we arrived at 1.40pm & we’re refused a menu for food as we were told they had a table of 6 WOWZER, couldn’t possibly do 2 more meals & a bottle of wine. Not a chef myself but have cooked for twice as many as that number at home. Waitress said she was on her own so obviously couldn’t cope !! with 2 extra plates & opening a bottle of wine, but notice she was texting on her phone when we left after 1 drink, so not that busy to be fair. Pubs say they are struggling for business, I think not in this particular case.

Quaint pub with super friendly staff. Excellent food, no burger/pizza monotony, but really delicious handmade dishes. Also a good selection for vegans, far from fries and salad. The pies are perfect. In return for refreshments, there are several free parking spaces available for mobile homes.

It's insanely difficult to find a pub in this area that serves vege/vegan food you'd actually want to eat (most other pubs had one non-meat option on its menu, a veggie lasagne with chips - are you having a laugh?). I was delighted to visit The New Inn, where I had a DELICIOUS Sunday nut roast. I also note there was an equally tasty-looking vege/vegan option risotto on the menu. Dessert was a bit overpriced for the small size, but also very, very tasty. Service was also great!

Tip top Sunday lunch. Also the pie if the day was as good as they get.

Enjoyed excellent pie ( venison, beef and bacon) and chips, as well as vegetarian lasagne here. Good beer, good service and friendly atmosphere.

Local Pub with potential I have been going to this venue for over 18 months now, its nearly a local for me,however over the past 3 months its gone from my favourite localish pub to one not to return to. Locals have turned it into a loud and dark place forgetting other people who want to also enjoy good food and have a quietish time. Food quality has dropped and the ambience has changed from a cosy place to stop by and eat good pub food to a local drag. Its a shame really as The New Inn caters for all that walk through the door, tourists, locals and not so locals. What a beautiful hidden Gem!!!! Had an excellent meal tonight at this lovely pub . Fantastic service by the young gentleman behind the bar. Why isn't is full? We are passing through in a campervan. We are staying overnight...so all you campers, come here have a meal and stay over!!!!! Beautiful village location. Massive beer garden. Immaculate inside. Lovely Shiraz for red wine lovers.

Had a great night in this lovely old pub. Atmosphere was great and food was tasty. The games room at the back with skittles, darts and pool was really good fun as we joined the locals for a game. Very welcoming and a great night was had. Would definitely visit again.

The pub was surprisingly empty for a Sat evening, but the food was great, with the added pleasure of Donnington’s SBA (real local ale) Highly recommended - we are nearby in Broadway and have been here before but only for lunch - we will be back!

Great find , was staying at Broadway campsite over the weekend but came here first. They provide camper van parking in their car park for free if you eat in the pub. Glad we did , we had two great pizzas and some good local beer. Barman / waiter was great, really good guy, the pub need to look after him.

Just popped in for lunch as always been good over last 6 or so years. We ordered bacon and brie sandwiches, previously served on panini not today it was just plain white sliced 🥪, bacon was not cooked enough hardly any brie or cranberry, really disappointed ☹️ plus also some of the chips were raw in the middle. We wasn't offered a bowl of water for the dog. I really think £8.00 for a sandwich of that standard is shocking and £4.00 for the few chips is not good.

Cold venue the website state it had pies on the menu but unfortunately they had none. My meal consisted of inedible vegetables something that purported to be a fondant potato but was not and duxelles stuffed pork tenderloin with a mustard cream sauce. The mustard cream sauce was good but the pork was unacceptable for £15.25. I did not complain at the time as this was supposed to be a treat by my daughter and son in law. But I assure you I will never go back. The new inn used to be great went there many years ago quite regularly but never again also had to wait for one hour and 15 minutes for the food to arrive. No thanks. Never again.

We turned up at 6:30 on a Wednesday night to a barely filled bar only to be turned away because they were going to get “too busy”. There was only one couple eating dinner. Apparently the chef couldn’t handle more than one table at a time. EDIT: in response to the owner, unless that was a group of 10+ people booked, I really don’t see how you couldn’t of handled just two more. It was very disappointing and frankly baffling considering there was only ONE table eating dinner. It’s just bad business practice. If your staff and kitchen cannot handle a busy dining room then you need to reasses your management.

Friendly and comfortable inside, decent drinks and dogs welcome. A little tired in places but great atmosphere.

Stayed in motorhome for a couple of nights. Very welcoming, lovely food and atmosphere. Great village and location for exploring the Cotswolds. Easily cycling to Broadway, not so easy to Broadway Tower!

What a gem of a pub. Jules and the team were right on target. We stopped in the car park with our motorhome for the night, no charge for parking. We had a wonderful meal in the pub. Fish , chips and peas , Including a bottle of prosecco £35 . We added a starter each and a few ciders . Great atmosphere in the place. Nice quiet night. Local caravan and motorhome club site wanted £34.80 just to park up for the night. Thank you Jules. Will certainly be returning 😊.

Friendly staff, good service, excellent food

Our dog weighs over 100kgs. That was no trouble at all and we were warmly received. Our lunch was freshly cooked - the fish was excellent. Some pubs say they are dog friendly but are wary of a beast the size of a Shetland pony. Thank you for a lovely meal and welcome. Graham, Jean and Eden.

Had been exchanging mails with the New Inn for 24 hrs about how wheelchair friendly the pub was. Jules advised me we were to enter through the back door via a step of 5 inches and then another step, a little bit bigger , to enter the bar. So we rocked up on 13th Jan around 5.30. The information was true to Jules word. With a little manual handling , through my sons, we got into the bar easily and quickly found a table for 6. Swiftly approached by a member of staff placed our order for food and drinks. When the food arrived we were all very happy. To put it simply the plates were full and food, clearly freshly prepared. Our choices were simple, 3 Burgers and 2 Chicked Supremes. The presentation was first class , temperature, tenderness and flavour all to our liking. The menu had enough options and cooking styles to suit a number of tastes. All in all a very pleasant experience andvI would thoroughly recommend the New Inn

We visited this pub yesterday on a cold and wet January day. Although we arrived after 2pm the staff were very happy to provide a hot meal. The fish and chips were delicious and it was a huge portion. This pub advertises that it’s dog friendly. I have a 100+kg mastiff and he was truly welcomed not just tolerated. Staff were helpful and friendly. We will certainly visit again

What a fantastic stop over for camper van, food was amazing and not overpriced. Staff were excellent even provided my ageing dog a blanket because she won't lie on a stone floor, will definitely be visiting again.

Was going to stay here for 1 night on our way to bourton on the water but it was so nice we stayed 2 Great if you have a dog as they have a Hugh field which you can let the dog have a good run as long as you pick up any mess The owners were lovely and a big dog lover herself We ate both nights and the food was really nice The locals were very friendly and always made time to talk

Really lovely village pub. Friendly, welcoming staff full of smiles and good pub food at a reasonable price compared to lots of other places we visited. We felt really relaxed here and enjoyed our dinner. Thought the pub itself was charming and full of character.

Its a lovely looking Public house. Prices are reasonable and there is some free overnight parking spaces for Motorhomes if you buy a meal or drinks.

What a lovely village pub/restaurant. We were greeted by two young lads who were most attentive and seemed to be doing everything to a high standard. The food was plentiful and boiling hot. Would recommend a visit as felt most welcome.

We had the Thursday night deal.Two pizzas, a bowl of chips and some coleslaw for £20.We had the Goat's Cheese and Spinach pizza and the Spicy Meat pizza.Both were served on a thin base with a very generous amount of topping. The chips were proper chunky chips and the coleslaw was homemade.All in all, both very good value and excellent food quality.Will definitely return.The pub is very nice with a friendly atmosphere.

So disappointing! After years of our bi annual trip to this pub (we travelled over 100 miles) to have a fun afternoon of skittles and a few pints the "new team" at the pub have decided the skittles ally would no longer be used by the "public". Even after telling them how far we travelled and offering to pay our request still fell on death ears

Under new ownership at second lockdown, this village pub has had a great makeover has friendly and knowledgeable staff , beer kept well, food ( liver and onions ) cooked to perfection. Well worth a visit - but closed on Mondays!

Absolutely BRILLIANT place! Great food great beer great staff great atmosphere all at sensible prices. Can't fault any of our experience here. Situated in the Cotswolds we really didn't expect to find such a brilliant & friendly place at such affordable prices. There's even an indoor skittles alley, a large car park with a covered garden terrace complete with heating. Really can't praise the place enough!

Chasing some family history in Willersey. It was lunch time so looked in to see if they were serving. Yes. Home made sweet potato soup and a crusty homemade roll. Delicious. In the evening we were at our digs in nearby Blockley. Everyone full so shot back down to the New Inn again with fingers crossed. Yes, just made it! Lovely homemade meal, they've an excellent chef. Highly recommended...

Great stopover with the campervan, flat parking. We ate in the restaurant, very good value, good size portions and good pub food cooked well.

Did an overnight stopover in our campervan with 2 dogs, we were hunting for somewhere quiet and found it here. Great meal in the pub, wonderfully dog friendly and a very pretty village with good dog walks. Many thanks it was just what we were looking for. We will definitely be returning.

Visited this venue with another couple today.We had a very warm welcome and showed to our table.Service was very good.We all had the Steak and Ale pie,we were not disappointed it was delicious, lots of tender meat and plenty of gravy,served with perfectly cooked veg.I only had ice cream for pud ,which was lovely,but the cheesecake and Banna split I am told was also delicious. Good prices for an excellent meal.Well done chef,and team.

Emailed in advance and had free parking for the motorhome, great selection of beers and the 4 of us really enjoyed the food, seafood sharing platter especially gorgeous. Lovely spot next to a gated garden great for dogs, the service from everyone working here was superb, a very relaxing stay. Willersley is a lovely quintessential English village.....

First time visiting, outdoor space was nice. No play area for children though. Not much indoor space, however food (children's menu) cheddar cheese and tomato pasta was tasteless with tiny amount of cheese on top. Kids did not like it. Mayo comes in little glass jars that previous customers have dipped their food in! Not good, especially in these covid times. Maybe they were having an off day. For a village pub it was not very welcoming. Would not recommend.

Absolutely class, fantastic food. Had the halloumi burger, was completely satisfied just by the coleslaw it was that good. Mate had the beef burger and he thought his meal was great as well. would really recommend this establishment

Phoned ahead to check we could park our motorhome overnight. “No Problem” was the reply.Large even surfaced car park.Lovely hosts.Good selection of beers great food.My wife and I stayed two nights and although we just had a drink the first night then we had the fish and chips on the second night. Delicious. A great way to round off our Silverstone race weekend and touring holiday around the Cotswolds.Great nights sleep.Will definitely head here next time we are in the area.Thanks guys.

We had booked a table to eat, and were ushered inside to an empty characterless room - everyone else was eating outside on a lovely sunny evening. The room had an odd odour of stale cooking oil. The less said about the meal the better I'm affraid!

We used the New Inn as a stopover on the way to Cornwall. After phoning ahead we parked in the designated spot . The meal in the pub was fabulous and was extremely good value. All the staff were friendly and a peaceful night's sleep was had. (Space was reserved using the motorhome Britstop guide book)

Atmosphere very poor, very limited menu choice, food served luke warm, owner very rude and dealt with complaint extremely badly. Obviously not used to a customer service industry.
