Recently stayed in Hayle and visited Mr B’s on two occasions, the first was later in the day closer to closing time, and certainly felt rushed by the team behind the counter, the next day however a completely different service. That said the ice cream is amazing, the bubble waffles are fantastic. Would 100% go back!

Finally managed to visit a Philps when in Cornwall last weekend, having read rave reviews previously. We weren't disappointed, our pasties were full of meat, potato and pepper and not greasy like some. Wonderful pastries on sale as well - see the photo of the 'Elephant's Foot', so huge we had to share it, but surprisingly light on the stomach.

What a gem! Very surprised all round. The staff were lovely, the food was fab, the beer was super cold and what a view! We will return.

Cheerful and friendly service in an historic listed building overlooking Hayle Harbour and the World Heritage Site. Ideal for friends and family meetings.

Based on the rave reviews I have read, I could not wait to try a pasty from Lucy Bakes on the first day of my holiday. Sadly, I was bitterly disappointed: pastry was dry but the contents were even drier. I went around 10am and wonder if it had been yesterday’s reheated pasty. I can honestly say, never again.

We ate here on a Friday evening on our journey back from Falmouth to Carbis Bay. We read the reviews on Google and thought we‘d give it a try as we were looking for a dog friendly location. We rang and it was suggested we book as it was quite busy being a Friday evening. What a gem, this pub is off the beaten track in a small village but the food was superb. It was full with a mixture of locals and visitors which made the pub very homely. My wife thought the Steak and Ale pie was the best she has ever tasted, packed with meat and light pastry. I had the ribs which were a special for the evening and we followed this with a shared Sticky Toffee pudding. If you are in the area you must go there but don’t follow the sat nav blindly like we did, go via the road behind the shopping centre off the A30 near Hayle.

Although this hotel was very warm with no aircon it did not spoil our stay. We hardly spent any time in the hotel. Room was stunning. First impressions entering the room was 100%. Gentle on the desk doing the double shift was amazing. Long hours but always made us welcome. And was a laugh. Felt hike home. Re booked on leaving for 2 months time!!!

Old hotel from the time when Hayle was an important ironworks town. Authentic with lots of charm, the bar is a typical local gathering place. Nice outdoor area with sun, 10 minutes' walk to the train and bus. Restaurant with very good English food! The rooms are old and would not benefit from a bit of an upgrade.

Would be great if it was ever open! Have heard rumours about staff not being paid so guess that's why. Shame as the place does great coffee.

Moped driver almost crashed into 3 horses driving dangerously. Manager was listening and talking to me fine until he realized I was complaining about his driver then began shouting and saying he can't here me. I visited the shop only for the manager to roll his eyes at me when he heard what I was saying and began telling me he doesn't understand. Lovely young lad then came and spoke to me and reassured me that as this was a safety matter that this would be taken very seriously and then proceeded to have a word with the driver. On a separate occasion wanted to order a couple of pizzas for a movie night in but the website and app wasn't working correctly. Manager shouted down the phone. "No you have to use the website", tried to explain that we couldn't but he just hung up on us. Wrong person is in charge here. He has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Has no respect for customers. Disregards peoples safety and is disgustingly rude. All the other staff seem to be doing the best they can barring a few dangerous drivers and the manager.
