Angarrack Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We ate here on a Friday evening on our journey back from Falmouth to Carbis Bay. We read the reviews on Google and thought we‘d give it a try as we were looking for a dog friendly location. We rang and it was suggested we book as it was quite busy being a Friday evening. What a gem, this pub is off the beaten track in a small village but the food was superb. It was full with a mixture of locals and visitors which made the pub very homely. My wife thought the Steak and Ale pie was the best she has ever tasted, packed with meat and light pastry. I had the ribs which were a special for the evening and we followed this with a shared Sticky Toffee pudding. If you are in the area you must go there but don’t follow the sat nav blindly like we did, go via the road behind the shopping centre off the A30 near Hayle.

Friday evening we returned to the Angarrack Inn as it is close to our hotel and a friendly welcome. The food is unpretentious but, like the beer, well done. My wife took the Chicken & Leek pie whilst I had the Steak pie. Both were served with potatoes & carrots. It's nice to have a dependably good and friendly place to dine when in Cornwall and it will not break the bank!

We have visited a few times before while on holiday. I took my in-laws for the first time. They absolutely loved it. My mother in-law said the steak and ale pie was the best she's had at a restaurant. Second in taste to her own. That's high praise! The beef lasagne and the vegetarian one where so tasty. The portions are plentiful so only one of us had room for dessert. Apple crumble, it looked amazing. I wish I had room for it myself. When I asked them if they had enjoyed the meal they said 10 out of 10 and promotion to favourite daughter in-law for taking them! Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit. I would advise booking. We went on a Tuesday night and it soon filled up.

Friendly service, vert generous amounts of chicken in pie without excess pastry to pad it out. Lots of meat in other dishes too. Food took a while but we were informed early and it was worth the wait

Wow!! What a gem of a place!! Hidden away off the tourist trail, but well worth it. The food and service was excellent and had a very welcoming atmosphere. I had the steak & ale pie (a proper pie, NOT a dish with a puff pastry lid!) tons of gravy and lovely mash and veg. 4 clean plates by the time we finished!!

A very fine local pub restaurant centred in a little Cornish village near Hayle. A perfect little getaway with your loved one. The Staff are friendly and work hard. We have been to visit the Angarrack Inn, two years running, while holidaying in Hayle. We love it.

Unfortunately, we didn't book and went on chance, and being late was a risk. Lovely local inn plenty of different beers 🍻 and some of the meals we saw 👀 whilst trying to get a table looked excellent. Well, it's worth a try, but it's worth booking ahead.

We booked as we drove through one day and looked very homely The food was amazing we went for Sunday Lunch. Great selection of meats all fresh home cooked meals. Very hospitable and speedy service Highly recommend 🙌🏼

We visited here as the reviews were good and we weren’t disappointed. We took our 2 dogs too. Separate gluten free section on the menu was perfect! Only 4 items but that’s more than I get to chose from most places! I had the chicken pie and although the pastry wasn’t great, I enjoyed the filling and the mash and veg. My partner had the chicken, ham and leek pie and it was huge and full of chicken. Service great and food perfect. Would return if we were back in this area

Lovely meal and very friendly service

Visited here based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Fabulous Sunday Roast, I had beef and my partner Turkey. Both couldn’t be faulted, one of the best pub roasts I’ve ever had. Top marks for the food and top marks to Billy and his team for the customer service. So good we popped back in another night. Highly recommended

Came without booking but very accommodating. Had the steak and ale pie which was one of the best I've had and partner had cajun chicken which he said was lovely. Would highly recommend.

Really good sized portions and top quality food. Friendly staff. Needs a good clean and hoover. Other than than very impressed.

The vegan curry of the day was absolutely awful. Bizarrely, they used mango chutney as the base for the sauce which was extremely sweet and there was no protein whatsoever in the meal. The popodoms were dry as they were microwaved and the naan was also dry. Not a good option for vegans

Very friendly traditional local pub with modernized dining area. Food and service was excellent, dog friendly. It has a decent sized car park. Good value for money and better quality compared to the Away Resorts offering and well worth the trip.

Called in while on holiday after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Lovely old fashioned friendly pub and the food is great! We had the steak and ale pie and the chicken pie and my Grandson had sausage mash and beans. The pie was superb and a good size portion, my steak and ale melted in my mouth and a lovely homemade crust. Sadly we were too full for dessert but would recommend and we will visit again when down here on holiday. The bill for 3 drinks and meals was £48 fantastic value we paid that for crab sandwiches the other day!

We went today for Sunday lunch. The staff all lovely and friendly. Dog friendly too. The food was absolutely delicious. Good choice on menu. Mixture of traditional pub with new dining area. Not to be missed!

On holiday in Cornwall. Wanted somewhere different to eat to where we were staying. Wife found this lovely place for us... what a find ! Absolutely lovely food in a great setting with fantastic friendly staff . If we get time to get back during out holiday we will definitely be back. Four clear plates with two very happy children who can normally be very fussy. Huge thanks!

Went to the Angarrak Inn for a Sunday Roast in June there were four of us when the food was served the plates had plenty of food on them plus side dishes of vegetables but the meal had very little taste in fact quite bland we were all very disappointed

A very welcoming visit with fantastic food at a good price. Dog friendly and a great selection of deserts. Highly recommended.

We booked ahead for Sunday lunch. What a treat! A separate 'sides' bowl including smashing cauliflower cheese and a range of veggies all beatifully cooked. Nice stuffing, gravy and Y pud. Lunch service ran on friendly smiling vibes. Good selection of puds (my sone enjoyed the Sticky toffee pud). A choice of two veggie options in place of meat was a real treat.

Such a gem of a place. One of the friendliest welcomes we have ever had. Attentive service, great food and a lovely atmosphere. The nacho started was particularly good. Steak special was perfectly cooked. All in all they got it spot on. Thanks so much to the whole team. We'll definitely be back.

This is the second time here in a couple of days and happy to say that we had a warm and friendly welcome even though this time we were only having drinks. The atmosphere is lovely and just spot on with regards to a nice village pub. Staff were friendly and informative when they discovered that we were tourists

Lovely small pub in Angarrack. It was recommended to us by the owner of the b and b we were staying at and it didn't disappoint. The staff were lovely, really friendly and accommodating. The food was great, I had the chicken leek and bacon pie, it tasted lovely and was a good sized portion. We got lucky with a walk in but would recommend booking in advance as it's not a massive place.

what a great little pub, went in for food last night for a friend's birthday, the food was excellent and well priced, the drinks were great and again reasonable price. staff 10/10 nothing was to much hassle, friendly and up for a laugh. looking forward to returning again soon.

This is a lovely clasic village pub, great food and wonderful staff. If you're in the area give it a go you won't be disappointed.

This was a very friendly and welcoming pub with adequate parking. The Sunday roast was very tasty, and we weren't hurried to provide seating for other diners.

We were staying local and looked at the reviews for local restaurants and the Angarrack inn had good reviews so thought we would visit. The food was brilliant, even my nan demolished the lasagne and she is a fussy eater. The kids also really enjoyed their food. It was really well priced . The atmosphere was warm and the staff were really friendly . We will definitely be back next time we visit Cornwall .

It is a lovely pub, set in a small village. The food was first class at a reasonable price. They were very busy but managed well.

We were traveling down from Sussex to Lizard point, we had been held up by every roadwork possible and were in need of good food and a nice setting. That is exactly what we found at Angarrack Inn! Below the imposing arches of a huge via duct, nestled in a quaint setting sits this delightful Inn. From the minute we arrived we were greeted by one of the staff , who found us a table and made us feel so welcomed. There was a wait, as they were busy ( always a good sign) which was no problem, it gave us time to relax and peruse the menu. The choice was good and yet not too huge so it was easier to decide; there were vegan and vegetarian options that were very good and they also were happy to swap things around because of our intolerances! And the prices were fair. I had the vegan steak and chips with salad and my mum had the vegetarian curry. The portions were generous and the food hand cooked and delicious! Then to top it all we ordered the vegan gf cheesecake which was scrumptious! If you are in need of a high quality meal, with the old Inn ambiance, friendly staff and excellent food, with vegan and vegetarian options , then this is the place for you! We will definitely return.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Real hidden gem just outside of Hayle. We went as a family, and they managed fit us in on a busy Friday night. It was a little wait for food, but well worth it. Only downside was that tthe ortions were so huge that we couldn't fit pudding in! They looked amazing though.

The Angarrack Inn and its staff never fail to come up trumps. Lovely starters and main meal - served piping hot and of great quality and value. Always friendly faces, and an excellent and enjoyable evening all round. It is our "go to" place for an evening meal.

According to my husband, this is the best steak pie he’s ever had, we’ve been here 3 times on holiday over the past 4 years and we keep coming back. Lovely people and such a great pub, great food thanks again!

We had an excellent meal at the Angarrack Inn, lovely home cooked food and such a cosy feel to the pub. Very friendly service, a special mention to Katy who was so accommodating and helpful. Thank you Katy! Definitely recommend this pub but probably best to book as it’s not very big inside and gets busy, not surprising when it’s so good!

There isn't a bad thing about this pub, not one single thing, the food was amazing, all homemade, you can really tell the chef cares about the food, and the lady that was running the bar was fantastic, so attentive and really welcoming. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere this is not an experience you can afford to miss. Would highly recommend the beef and ale pie and the mousakka, huge portions at a great price. Will definitely be returning.

We visited 3 times during the week, we were not disappointed. Excellent food, roast pork with mash and veg on Tuesday evening was so nice, wife had rump steak (well done as usual!) and it was so tasty with all the trimmings. Cod on Thursday, best fish and chips you’ll find (in my opinion) prove me wrong! Wife had steak again, can’t get too much of a good thing. And then Friday, so many pieces of scampi, food was soooooo good and the wife had the fish and chips, we were not disappointed. Desserts are amazing too, if you are not too full from the main course. Chef and staff top it off to make this place a must try and then try again and again! Well done and thank you to all of you for making our time in Cornwall even more enjoyable.

We were staying at the local Premier Inn and I decided to book a nearby pub for dinner, we were so pleased we chose the Angarrack Inn. Absolutely super, loved the really local feel, great service, excellent and hot food, we are both vegetarian and were very well catered for, husband was particularly keen on the amazing pudding! I would highly recommend, might be sensible to book ahead as it is not a large pub. Thank you for a great evening.

First time in, on my own. I asked if it would be OK to have just a starter and dessert? The ( new ) Waitress replied "You're the customer, whatever you like is fine". So I had a garlic mushroom starter, then the houmous starter, followed by the most delicious chocolate brownie, cream & ice-cream, all of which were beautifully presented. Staff friendly and helpful, I'll definitely be back, next time I'm in Cornwall. Would recommend a visit to anyone staying in Angarrack or locality. Nice walk by the stream too!

Great pub. Friendly staff and locals. We just rocked up for a beer, stayed for nachos, chips and onion rings 😄. The food we saw being served to others looked really good.

We had such a great time. Food was so good and Miya made the experience so special, we only been once or twice before and she remembered exactly how we liked our food and which drinks we wanted. Very impressed.

Despite booking they had no record of this. We were seated in back room( possibly a function room) which was cold, had no atmosphere and had radio 1 on quite loudly. Food and service were excellent.

Booked this pub last minute on xmas eve due to being let down by another nearby establishment. The place was absolutely packed due to the wonderful lights around the village.(absolutely recommend) We were shown to our table in the restaurant area very quickly by a lovely lady. The service and atmosphere was exceptional given they were so busy. All the staff were friendly and attentive and the home made pies and deserts were amazing. Will definitely be returning when we are in the area again.

Invaded Angarrack Inn with our family group of 14 (& 3 dogs) and were superbly looked after and made to feel at home. The Steak and Ale pie is literally a wonder to behold, order it you won't be disappointed! Great staff, great service, lovely pub. Hayle also knows how to do village Christmas decorations more than any other!

What an excellent little gem. The pub staff are extremely accommodating and the service was very friendly. I tried the Christmas Pie and it was a real treat. Christmas Dinner under pastry with Turkey, stuffing, cranberry and pigs in blankets. The atmosphere was made all the better by the village Christmas light displays which can only be described as amazing. Very well done to all involved 🎅👏👏

We regularly go this gem of a traditional pub for Sunday lunch but last Sunday was just perfect. The food, as always, was piping hot, plentiful and delicious. The staff are so attentive and knowledgeable and always smiling. You would expect to be waiting some time for food as the Inn is so busy but that is definitely not the case. Once seated our drinks order was taken and appeared shortly after. The food order was taken then and freshly prepared meals were with us in no time at all. If you are after a great Sunday Roast for a very reasonable price, I doubt the Angarrack will be beaten. Thank you to everyone involved for our terrific experience.

This is a hidden gem. The staff are lovely and very attentive. Special mention to the lovely Julie who looked after us. The pies were amazing! Full of meat and super tasty. The burgers were also delicious. The portions are very good. Definitely worth a visit

What a fantastic find. A lovely pub in the beautiful village of Angarrack. Booked for Sunday lunch and wasn’t disappointed. Lovely beef dinner with all the veg and my wife had turkey. Absolutely delicious. Tempted by the desserts so I had treacle sponge. Amazing home made pudding with custard. My wife had chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and she loved it. Sat outside as the weather was beautiful. The best bit was the value only £12.95 for the roast a real bargain in today’s world and the best value for money I’ve had in a long time. Would highly recommend this place and we will be back when we return to Hayle next year

Dog friendly pub open and serving on a Monday night. Good food selection.

Chose this pub for food as it opened on a Monday evening and it's dog friendly. A very friendly welcome, efficient service and delicious food, well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and mango curry from the specials board followed by treacle pudding with a generous portion of custard.

We stopped in here Wednesday evening for some dinner, the pub was not busy at all. the service was fast, the food was amazing and would definitely go here again and in the end we was the only 2 people in there it was just lovely and the staff

We found this fabulous pub by pure chance and so glad we did. With a dog in tow they were very busy but found us a table and promised us food. We'll what stunning food they delivered with the most amazing steak and ale pie from their normal menu and a chicken mango curry from the specials board served with superb service in a great friendly pub. Would definitely recommend it and would love to return again when in the area. Oh, and the train bridge is worth a viewing, too.

Great food, and altho the pub was rammed due to a big birthday party in the grounds, the staff were amazing.

Booked a table 12.30 for Sunday Lunch served with drinks and then meal arrived 3/4 hour later.

A really great, on the spur of the evening visit with a short notice booking. Great food, and I truly mean that, Great service and good prices coupled with a good selection of ale and other drinks make this a superb surprise and a wonderful experience. Many thanks to all the staff.

Spent a week on holiday in Hayle, and ate out three times in this lovely Inn ... My husband ,myself ,also our bulldog and spaniel were made to feel really welcome... The food was fantastic, and the staff were really warm , genuine, friendly people ... You should book as it can get busy ....you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go again on our next holiday in Cornwall x

This was our second time here and it didn't disapoint. Fantastic friendly staff and the atmosphere was great. The food is stunning. Plenty to choose from and all comes and tastes to a high standard. This place is an absolute gem. Would highly recommend
