Philps in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Finally managed to visit a Philps when in Cornwall last weekend, having read rave reviews previously. We weren't disappointed, our pasties were full of meat, potato and pepper and not greasy like some. Wonderful pastries on sale as well - see the photo of the 'Elephant's Foot', so huge we had to share it, but surprisingly light on the stomach.

Best Pasties, try the mince ball in puff pastry. Or the Steak Puff Pastry pasty. If you’re more traditional steak short crust. All are delicious. They have veggie and vegan options too.

Always loved Philps, but a bit pricey now.

Love a philps pasty, do like coming to this one as no ques, staff always friendly. Shop.is always clean and tidy.

Just the best pasties, friendly staff. Saw us headed for the door 5 mins before closing, yet held the door open for us, friendly and welcoming as ever, bless them.

Had a Steak and Cheese and a Meatball pasty. Both were excellent but the Steak and Cheese was extra special and was packed full, can't wait to try more :)

Lovely pasties and great attention to the client

Hardly any meat in the steak pasty and was lacking seasoning and salt. On the other hand the pizza was very salty. It was also cold and didn't have any herbs so basically tasted like bread with cheese on it. Very disappointed considering they are "famous".

Had a chicken salad and mayo roll. Tiger roll. Huge. Very tasty

Poor quality pasty with little to no meat in the pasties very disappointed. Eaten from here for years and never had them so bad. Also a very rude staff member.

Absolutely the best pasties right at home in Cornwall! You have to try this if you are in the area as it is something that you will thank me later on for trying it! There are few in the area so you cannot miss it! 🙏🙏

I don’t like leaving reviews but I left fuming. This is the second time this lady serving sandwiches has been so rude to me, I have to leave a review which is sad as I love philips food always have. I’m local to Hayle grew up on the area and eat at Philips a couple of times a week. I normally go to the one on the quay but decided to go to foundry hill for a tiger bap. The lady who served me should not be dealing with the public. She clearly hates her job and hates customers coming in. I asked for a tiger bap to be made she looked at me like a piece of rubbish on her shoe spoke to me rudely and condescending. This is the second time she has done this and I know others who have said the same thing. I won’t go into this branch again. It’s the the lady with blond hair and middle aged so rude. Really gives the wrong impression for Philips.

Gluten free options available! Vegan, Veg and meat options are available, as well as gluten free! You have to call up an hour and a half in advance to order it so make sure you do:) It was a bit hard but I can’t complain because I haven’t had a gluten free pasty in years so it was a nice change

Good pastys for the price, not perfect but good amount of pepper and meat/veg just the pastry wasn't quite crispy/flakey enough

I find they have gone a lot smaller, way to busy in holiday season, sometimes not cooked properly.

So delicious! We got the veggie cheese pastie, vegan pastie and the minced meat pastie. The bread/crust/pastry was so crumbly, soft and really just divine..

Good pasty with good fillings. Also cakes are good too but slightly over priced - maybe the price for tourists.

Philps pasties are the best , the big pasties are enormous , many varieties of pasties for all... absolutely love them 10/10 👌 There is a great view of the Sea in the car park ... perfect whilst eating a pasty . Highly recommended.

Always running out of meat patties- 2 years ago. I've been told countless times this one is no where near as good as the other branches, but came again regardless. It was a hit day and they had fresh cream apple turnovers on the counter. I got my meat patty but it wasn't well made or cooked. It was practically raw. OH had a past and the pastry wasn't cooked well either.

After a bad experience yesterday at another pasty shop in the area I threw that pasty away and went to Philps, In contrast there was plenty of meat and it was cooked to perfection. Lovely and moist with loads of flavour. Any chance you guys can open a pasty shop up here in the west Midlands the 5 hr drive for a pasty is a little bit too much for my daily lunch.

As tasty a Pasty as you could ever wish for. Proper Job.

Pasties were tasty, well seasoned and well cooked. Staff went above and beyond to cater for my children. However the distribution of the pasty wasn’t to my taste this time, I tried both the chicken and the meat on both occasions was in a single clump in the side of the pasty. Some people may like that but I prefer to have the meat in the middle to enjoy with the veg.

Steak pasties are gorgeous. Just tried a cheese and veg which was really yummy. Lovely flaky pastry.

Parked here in one of the several free parking spots next to the shop and walked over to Hampsons Butchers where even better pasties can be found!

I can't say I've had a bad pasty from philps, unfortunately my body has decided to turn against me and cause chronic acid reflex at even the hint of a standard steak.

The best Cornish pasties by far on my whole Cornish adventure. The also do online delivery which is fantastic, lovely to have fresh frozen traditional Cornish pasty at home.

As it says on the pasty world famous pasty and it's didn't disappoint best pasty I've had in cornwall ever and I've been top to bottom of the county

Philps is a family run business that has been trading for over 50 years. I have had their pasties for many year's. Their original shop was in Hayle but they also now have shops in other local villages/towns including Marathon, Praze and Camborne.

A bit of a local institution, and deservedly so. Lovely, hot pasties in all sizes. Worth pointing out that they do a limited selection of gluten free pasties (well pies), but they need one hour's notice, so just give them a call a while before you need to eat. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful.
