We attended an event here with thai food and drinks. Wow what a location and atmosphere. The owners presence was a little off putting, almost with an air of keeping an eye on everyone and saying some strange remarks every so often, there was no one younger than mid 30s and we had all purachsed tickets so this definitely wasn't needed! We decided to ignore this in the end and overall the experience and music particularly outside on the terrace was amazing
Lovely way to start Mothers Day with my son. Excellent breakfast with excellent coffee served by great people in a very pleasant environment. Easy access and parking, what more could you ask for?
Well done.
Excellent food, lovely food, decor not the best but the food makes up for it friendly staff, had the squid and noodles the flat wide ones amazing but next time I will ask for no msg I was bloated after all night
We stopped for coffee and a snack on a Wednesday luncthime - a spotlessly clean coffee house with all home made food served by a lovely chatty couple for whom nothing was too much trouble. A selection of interesting art on the walls from local artists that is rotated regularly. Definitely worth a visit if you want to get away from the bland mass produced product that our high streets are full of.

Amazing puddings - such a treat!
The whole family love this place & have worked through the menu! the trays are gorgeous. Wish they’d relocate & had more outside seating and regular openings but that’s just us being selfish ;)
Travelled to weymouth on Sunday 26 May to celebrate my brothers brithday. Booked tables in advance as it was bank holiday.
Recieved booking confirmation. Arrived at playyard to find its not even open on a sunday!
My husband and myself were visiting bath for the Christmas market and were delighted we were going to be in Bath on the same day as old friends we hadn't seen for a few years due to covid and geography. We chose the grumpy baker due to reviews and were not disappointed. We were there for a good few hours and with cases as we were flying home straight after the lunch. No one objected or said we were in the way. We had coffee, toasted Panini's, then tea and delicious cakes. We had not met the children before and basically had a wonderful time in what felt like our living room. The café was busy, pleasant ,welcoming and the staff were always smiling and helpful. I can see why so many families go there. Clean and with lovely food reasonably priced. If I lived in Bath I would be a regular visitor. Merry Xmas to the very happy staff at the Grumpy Baker.
Great experience with this cafe and bar I would highly recommend it to anyone in Paignton or passing through. Fantastic range of food and drink and the quality is 10 out of 10 too. The staff here are all really helpful and friendly, especially Charlie exceptional service time after time.I cannot wait to come return. Thank you to everyone involved.
I love pasties and go daft on them when I’m in the South west. I came to Honiton as I knew they had a Warrens bakery (please see my other review) which I’d good memories of. Having got my supplies from them I spotted this shop on the high st on my way back to the car. Seduced in as I always am by baked goods I saw they did a “Devon pasty”. It looked good enough to get one to try despite my previous Warrens purchases. And I am so glad I did !
I must have tried 15 different bakeries in the 2 weeks I was in the area and this pasty was hands down the best of them all. In fact nothing came close. It had a generous mixed filling, well seasoned and a pastry that was in the right proportion to the filling. Please take a bow…..I’ll be back 😋
