The best restaurants in South West

Beautiful quick lunch, at a very reasonable price - very rare nowadays. Large selection non standart cakes. Lovely garden at the back for a lunch in the sunshine. Friendly service. Definitely a hidden gem right by the Glos hospital. Impressed.

Nos topamos con la vieja panadería en busca de un vino caliente en un día de mucha tormenta. La intención era tomar un par de copas y luego volver a nuestro alojamiento para prepararnos para la cena en un restaurante diferente. Lo que en realidad sucedió es que terminamos amando la vieja panadería tanto que cancelamos nuestra reserva de cena, nos quedamos toda la tarde y cenamos allí en su lugar! El personal encantador, el espacio acogedor y la comida maravillosa era exactamente lo que queríamos y todos estábamos de acuerdo en que sin duda nos traería de vuelta a Winchcombe en el futuro! ¡Gracias!

Fabulous ice cream - went back three days in a row. Staff are really pleasant and friendly and the cream Is out of this world !

I ordered Chicken green curry,Padthai prawns and Chicken satay. It’s was delicious. Chef and staff are friendly also

Tim and Bev, who run the joint, are incredible human beings to be around. The fact that their spot is as popular as it is, is frankly no surprise. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is always gorgeous, and the courtyard - simply divine; a testament to their impeccable taste and their hard work. Yes, you may have to queue occasionally to squeeze in, but it’s worth every moment.

We’ve been coming here every time we pop down. Thankfully they were open yesterday Thursday. Lovely atmosphere. Great drinks. Definitely worth a visit.

We were advised by a local that Wendy’s is shut. Not sure if this is forever or just a seasonal thing. We were looking forward to visiting with our 7 year old daughter.

Lovely experience in this cafe - friendly staff, beautiful views and delicious cake. Well placed at the end of the coastal path too.

Attended a wake at this establishment today. Staff were very welcoming, but unfortunately, there just wasn't enough of them, and so the service was very slow. Unfortunately, the small carpark was also full, and therefore, it meant we had to park on the street, which wasn't ideal. I'm sure this is a lovely 'locals' pub. Unfortunately, it just isn't a suitable venue for this type of event.

4 of us visited The Gaff last night for the Chef’s Table experience to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I must admit I was slightly trepidatious when we sat at the bar and were the only patrons in there. I needn’t have worried. As the restaurant filled up around us Chef Robert served up one of the best tasting menus we’d ever experienced. Every course was wonderfully unfussy, with a couple of dishes opting to make vegetables the star of the show, believe me - you’ve never had cauliflower like this. He was also a great host who clearly loves his craft and happily indulged my amateur interests in his cooking throughout the evening. All this was complimented by our American friend with a passion for Pauillac, the wine pairings were high quality, interesting but most importantly delicious. It is unbelievably good value for what you receive (£140 a head for 8 courses, 8 wines and service) and felt really special. My only thought as I exited into the cool April night, ‘I can’t wait to go back’.

Good ice cream, friendly staff, but they’re clearly understaffed with the two people running the counter trying to keep up meaning it takes over 30min to have a single scoop ice cream made. The ordering system means you’ve already paid and stuck waiting.

We come here time and time again. For the meat eaters - don't miss out on the karaage chicken and the pork teriyaki don (on the regular menu). For those that like a bit of everything - I cannot recommend the set meals enough. These change every 2 weeks or so and include bento sides, miso and a main dish - either meat, tofu or fresh fish. All are great! I would also recommend the specials - these include things such as kimchi hotpot and tuna. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, in relaxed surroundings.
