The best restaurants in Wokingham South East

Went here with my pal Hayden for lunch, brilliant portions! We initially went there to buy lunch to revise for our Economics, had a great time!!!

We arrived at 6:55, were spoken to by 7:05 and told that the people at our table were paying the bill - they left at 7:15, and we were seated at 7:18 We were served quickly and the drinks came really quickly - though my brother who just wanted water had to wait ten minutes for a glass to drink it from! The starters came by 7:50 and the first two mains came whilst we were still finishing our starters so we were impressed - until the rest of the mains still hadn't arrived ten minutes later. We asked the waitress who said she'd check, five minutes passed and we asked the waitress again and she came back with the receipt to check what we'd received - evidently to tell the kitchen to cook the 6 mains that we hadn't received! The two people who got their food were finished eating before ours arrived (pictured). I was quite surprised that we were still expected to pay full price after having to wait 20 minutes for the rest of our food, and our main waiter didn't seem to know it had happened. It was packed and incredibly loud. Delivery drivers were waiting 10+ minutes and giving up and walking off. I understand it was Saturday evening but if you can't handle being full, maybe don't have as many tables. I don't understand having to wait when we had booked, either make bookings longer so people are actually finished in time for the next booking, or put signs on the table to tell people that it's booked and they need to be gone by a certain time.

Food arrived 25 minutes late and was cold. Very disappointing.

Pat was extremely friendly and helpful, prompted me to download the Greggs app which I wasn’t aware of and their demeanour improved my day :)

Always running out of hot food.

The meal was average at best. The pictures on the web site don’t match what was served. What really was bad that after the mains the chef kept walking pasted our table looking to see if we were finished, then sat on a table opposite just staring. They kept letting their two dogs out opening the door and making a draught. It’s not a hospitable place and did not feel friendly. If you don’t want people to sit and chat don’t run a restaurant

Tuvimos que esperar alrededor de una hora entre nuestro entrante y la comida principal. Nos dijeron un par de veces que nuestras comidas estaban siendo plateados, y las dos bebidas que pedimos se dedujeron de la factura como un gesto de buena voluntad. Sin embargo, apenas nos quitaron las placas, nos presentaron la factura. Teníamos la esperanza de pedir el postre, pero no se nos da la oportunidad, así que pagamos y nos fuimos. Mi marido disfrutaba de su comida, la mía estaba demasiado cocinada.

Relaxing atmosphere the pub is well appointed with excellent food and helpful friendly staff that makes for a good night out

4 of us went or our family Christmas Dinner on Christmas day. Nothing short of excellent. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and lovely staff. All 4 of us thought it was fantastic. In fact my partner said the soup was the best soupe she has ever had. I Often go for a beer but not for food! Will definitely be back for a meal soon and definitely for Christmas dinner next year Brilliant many thanks

Great food and service - very warming & homely pub/restaurant. Staff were lovely and the food was delicious. They were also good enough to send an item back to me that I left behind when I got back to Manchester. Will definitely go again on my next visit.

Very slow service, need more staff (attentive staff). Main menu is limited. Specials are limited too. Coffee machine broken!

Nunca me han decepcionado cuando llevo clientes a The George para el almuerzo. El ambiente es siempre acogedor y cómodo, por lo que es el escenario perfecto para reuniones. La comida es consistentemente genial, con un menú que ofrece algo para todos. Es uno de mis lugares favoritos: lugares para almuerzos de clientes, confiables, relajados y siempre un éxito. Nuestra camarera Sharon siempre es súper amable y nos hace sentir que nada es demasiado problema

Breakfast was cold nothing was hot.😒 egg cold bacon cold beans cold sausage cold hash brown cold toast cold .Not a very good experience.

We have not visited this unpretentious pub for many years. As we had heard good reports locally about it we decided to visit at lunchtime on a Monday. The pub was open but there was no food available so we went elsewhere. However the interior of the pub was not very appealing and not what we expected so will be giving it a mis next time wee eat out.
