Pizza Express in Wokingham

Really enjoyed the thin tasty mushroom pizza and my parteners gluten free meatball pizza was equally exchellent. Service was spot on and made for a very enjoyable meal.

Staff seemed less interested than usual and non attentive. We kept having to ask for items but felt like that was hard work. It was noisy and we didn’t feel it was up to its usual standard. Food was nice but on checking the bill we'd been overcharged so raised that. The staff member made me feel like she was doing me a favour by removing the item. Sadly we feel this place has had its day and won’t be going back for a while

Service was great, good was good company was excellent

As a regular visitor of pizza express we were massively disappointed at this latest visit. The biggest problem we had was my niece who has a gluten intolerance ordered gluten free dough balls, after everyone was given their starters we waited 5 mins before hers turned up, she ate two and then the waitress suddenly rushed over and took them away. They were normal dough balls. She was then given the gluten free ones but the damage was already done. She’s been up all night poorly. The service was very slow the whole evening. The main meals were all served after an hour, apart from mine, which was pasta, I waited a further 5 mins for my dinner. Just like my niece waited on the starter. No offers of more drinks were made, we had to ask, no empty glasses were taken away. This was for my daughter’s birthday meal so we were very disappointed. Worst meal at Pizza express we have ever had.

Got Deliveroo and it was disgusting. Pollo ad Astra has me burping eggs all night, on the loo all day today.

Absolutely shocked with the service tonight. Me and my partner usually go to the Lexicon but decided after coming back from the airport that we would pop into our local pizza express (1 minute walk) to end our holiday. On arrival, we weren’t greeted by the hostess/manager instead, we were shouted at across the restaurant to follow her. Basically had no interaction or pleasantries but we decided that we would ignore that and hope it can only get better. When our server came over, the greeting wasn’t warming at all and was quite abrupt, ordered our drinks and a jug of tap water (which we never received) we ordered and specifically asked for starters to come out with mains (repeated twice) and also specified my allergy which I wanted to apply to both starters (so they both became gluten free). The waitress did not seem interested in us at all and that didn’t make us feel great but again we moved on. To be fair, it looked like she was the only one working - So maybe she was quite busy but at the end of the day the manager should’ve been helping/supporting her. Our starters finally came out and was incorrect, so one was sent back to be remade (to be gluten free). No apology, instead tried to argue that I said something else and didn’t ask for this to be gluten free. We finished one starter and then the remake came over to which my partner asked the lady how long our pizzas were going to be, as we asked for everything to come out together. She just looked and said she will check and then a couple of minutes later came back and said will be two minutes. Again no apology. About 10 minutes later, our pizzas arrived, our waitress who dropped them at our table seemed like she couldn’t get away quick enough. Again no service, no asking would we like anything else? My partner wanted chilli oil and tried to look for the lady but ended up giving up because she didn’t return. Instead he went to get a bottle from the side as we clearly realised we weren’t going to be served. Then a member of staff started shouting at him. Then our waitress said to him, that she was going to come over and ask if we want anything else. But was a bit late by then. He felt so embarrassed and quite furious, that he was shouted at by a member of staff because he grabbed some chilli oil, due to lack of service. He returned to the table and expressed that he wanted to leave. So I got up to find the waitress and get 2 takeaway boxes and told her we were going to leave (paying the bill online). She came over and only then started to apologise for shouting at my partner and for all the other things but I made her aware that we appreciate she seems like the only one working but this just wasn’t acceptable and the service was extremely poor. She got the bill and apologised again, but no sign of manager or anyone acting as manager - which I think is pretty awful. The waitress added a discount for our poor experience which I did appreciate but at the end of the day i didn’t complain for this to be the outcome. My complaint was made because I have never been out to dinner with my partner and him being made so upset and furious by the treatment that we have wanted to leave. The fact that no manager came over is not great and we tried to look for her on the way out and was nowhere to be seen. Just extremely shocked with tonight’s experience, no check ins with our food, no apologies for mistakes/issues along the way and no manager to come and address the issue when my partner was shouted at.

Nice pizza and friendly, efficient service

Over half an hour just to get someone to take our order , then another 40 minutes waiting for our food , appalling service

Booked a 5.30 pm table for six small grand children and five adults to celebrate my wife’s birthday. In a not very busy restaurant it took one and a half hours to take our order and serve it up. When I say not very busy I’m referring to the sit down diners. The restaurant front of house was working in a frenzy to fulfil all the pizza delivery orders of which there were masses. We took a very long second place . After our third polite reminder the Manager turned ugly and screamed at my adult daughter in front of all the other customers. With this outburst we refused to pay for the diabolical food when it did come in view of a completely spoilt evening for all of us. Her response was “Fine” so we left. The worst experience I have ever had in a Pizza Express restaurant. And the last until someone gets a grip on places like this and installs competent and fully trained supervisory staff.

A great experience at Pizza Express for my son and his friends.. the team were brilliant moving our table early when the boys finished bowling. They were friendly, attentive and so kind ..

Food is fresh. Service is 5 stars. Changing the cutlery between starter and the main. Appreciated. The waitress is very nice with wonderful service and a big smile. 😃

A really terrible start. We had a table booked but on arrival we were kept waiting for ages before anyone greeted us. Very rude as staff clearly saw us but ignored us completely, avoiding eye contact and any acknowledgement. We were about to walk out when finally someone came up. No apology for the wait and we were shown to a table right next to a large, noisy group. We asked if we could sit somewhere quieter and were told no, they were full. Clearly they were not as we could see other free tables which we pointed to. There then followed a consultation between a couple of colleagues, and finally we were given another table a bit further away. Luckily after all this things improved. The food was the usual good Pizza Express standard and the waiter was polite and checked everything was ok. Then at the end it was a bit strange as the staff were all getting their coats and leaving while we were still finishing our coffee. This was at only 9.30! We had another wait to pay as we were trying to attract the attention of one of the few remaining members of staff. It seems like the staff are really not happy working there and just want to get out asap!

Please stop having air con workers on the roof after 9pm as it's noisy

Waitress and manager were so friendly. Had a lovely chat and laugh with them. Food was outstanding. So hot and fresh. You must try the honey dough balls. YUM! Wine selection is good. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be going back

Early evening 5pm seems to be parents and young kids time - lots of excited children making a lot of noise and stressed out mums/ dad and or grandparents. Been there, done that but less tolerant now my kids are grown up. Suggest you go a bit later in the evening for the adult time. Food great as always as was service. Even better with a voucher or Tesco points to splash

I have been there twice with my friends. We lived it. I really liked the atmosphere, and what Ive ordered was tasty!

Dirty and staff didn’t seem happy! Big change to how it usually feels which is a shame! Food still really good but you could just sense an atmosphere.

Phone and manager wasn't interested - certainly not ordering from wokingham branch again As per comment below, phone and left message for general manager now awaiting call back update - you guess correctly no call back, response was lip service and Pizza express offered poor service via delivery which didn't get sorted - avoid

We recently celebrated our daughter’s 10th birthday at Pizza Express Wokingham. The staff, food and the overall experience were brilliant. We were 16 of us. Thank you for making her birthday a memorable one for all of us.

A late afternoon visit after a trip to the Everyman. Just wanted a great pizza in nice surroundings with good service. Hit the spot on all counts, lovely pizzas and very friendly service. Don’t need anything more so 100% happy - thank you.

The usual excellent service from the Team. Friendly and welcoming food just as we would expect. One favour can we change the menu to include the Ginger Cake as main pudding as I would order that every time I came

Excellent as always, attentive service, good food, a drink was out of stock but not the end of the world. Fairly quiet for a Friday. The 50% offer is only on some pizza and each member of the party needs the pizza express app to get the discount against there part of the bill, read the small print 😜

Nice pizza express on Broad St wokingham. Went Boxing Day. Place was very quiet. Had very good service for a party of 6. Pizzas all good. Desserts also good, the mini desserts with a coffee are a great idea. Overall very satisfied with this Pizza Express and would use again. No problem using Tesco vouchers.

Had a lick of paint and new furniture, building and facilities started to show their age. Portions sizes definitely shrinking.

The pizza arrived extremely cold. It was so cold that the cheese topping had become hard and stale therefore inedible. For the price of the pizza paid almost £17 I would expect it to be at least decent. Won't be ordering from again a total waste of money and appetite.

The Wokingham team are outstanding! You always feel well looked after & welcomed so warmly. The food is always excellent & I always feel safe eating there, which as a coeliac is extremely important! & the brownie is the best brownie EVER!! Wonderful experience as always! It’s my treat to myself whenever I can go!

If I could give 0 stars I would. After being made to wait for 10 minutes for our table, which was pre booked, we spent 20 minutes trying to get someone to bring us some water for the table. The attitude of the staff during this time was appalling, and when we finally received our water we asked if we could place a drinks order. The waiter’s response was ‘no, I can’t’ and he walked away. Not once did we receive an apology for the delay and we ended up leaving having not ordered any food. I definitely wouldn’t recommend visiting.

Food good as always service was very very slow

This place is an absolute shambles….more staff than customers but still terrible service, chef outside smoking, staff more interested in talking than taking our drinks and food order…. so poor we walked out after 20 minutes of waiting (not done that before). Not to mention the complete lack of wheelchair access. So poor…shame can’t leave a zero star review.

Cold pizzas, slow service… family not happy at all

Probably the best pizzas in any restaurant. Everything is just right, not to oily, fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly. Not as much topping as Domino's, but not as oily. Half the size of Pizza Hut pizza's and double the price. But if you want very good pizza, in a restaurant, this place is hard to beat.

Food way better now than a few years ago. Pricey though.

The service from the staff was fab, Luigi especially- he always greats us with a smile and that is why we always come back to this pizza express. The good is excellent - fab chefs - definitely recommend here

Pizza express has lost its way, after 15+ years of visiting this branch we were so disappointed last night. My pizza was almost cold and soggy with very little attention to the toppings. My wife’s was also not very hot. After complaining we were given a meagre 30% discount, although when the bill arrived it also had other items on which were clearly from another table! The ambience of the restaurant was far from cosy and the service appeared rushed. Doubt we will ever revisit, Dominoes will probably be our port of call for a decent pizza from now on.

I came here last Friday with some family from out of town. Needless to say it was one of the finest dining experiences I’ve been fortunate enough to have. The staff were nothing short of exceptional with one waitress helping my nephew with his colouring book despite the restaurant being packed and her being run off her feet. It was the true definition of service with a smile and I highly recommend this establishment to anyone thinking of going.

Fantastic place for Holi celebrations. I was here with Chris Martin, who was leading the festivities, and I can honestly say that I will never spend another Holi anywhere else. Very generous with the pizza sauce and the rousing staff-led rendition of Viva la Vida sent chills down my spine. Pizza Express Wokingham is truly what Holi is all about.

Small entrance is deceiving as it opens into a long and warm space. All staff we interacted with were very friendly. Didn't have to wait long for drinks starters or mains. And the speed of service didn't diminish the quality. Highly recommended this branch!

Friendly staff, standard (good quality) Pizza Express menu. I sat in the area at the rear of the restaurant, which was nice and cosy on a winter's evening.

Great place for a relaxed lunch. We went as part of a large group and were there for about 3 hours on a Saturday afternoon. We were not rushed at all, the food came out quickly and the staff were all excellent and very friendly. I would recommend.

They've mastered vegan cheese on pizzas at last! Everything very fresh and delicious. The vegan American hot was just enjoyable as the last veggie one I had here many years ago

I ordered a pepperoni pizza through just eat. Ordered it at 5 :00pm by 6:30pm It’s still have not arrived when I phoned up PizzaExpress Wokingham. The person on the phone was rude and said it’s not there responsibility. It is just eat what is both their responsibility to make sure the food gets there and it just eat is no good at doing deliveries they should not use just eat I would not Just eat or PizzaExpress Wokingham

A lovely friendly restaurant. Drinks and food delivered immediately. Food lovely and hot and full of flavour. Perfect all round.

Should probably close tables if you haven't got the staff to keep up with diners. (I can only assume you was short staffed) First ever time I received cold rock hard dough balls. Was disappointing. And when mentioned to a waitor just took my plate and said nothing, i had to ask for another plate!

Service was fantastic tonight. My teenage son has fractured his elbow and the waiter cut his pizza with no fuss to help him. Food was great but the service was totally brilliant and the place was so busy.

We went out for dinner. We like a nice relaxed atmosphere and a nice ambient in this restaurant. Waitress was very kind and provided excellent service and the food was as expected. We've been to various Pizza Express restaurants and we really wanted to leave a review to say that this is our favourite one.

I took my Daughter to pizza Express in wokingham for her 18th Birthday, having never been to any branch of pizza Express before and being the first time I went I can honestly say what an absolute brilliant choice of restaurant. The staff were really amazing and so friendly that it was like I'd gone to dinner at a relatives house. The food was cooked to perfection, the pizza's and pasta Dishes and king prawn starter I'd happily order again. Its a Very nice family oriented environment to Dine in. The table service was excellent, as were the staff and couldn't find fault in anything even if I wanted to. I'd definitely go back and I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends and i'll definitely spread the word via social media too. Over all was 100% worth the bill at the end especially the added celebratory touches at the end. Thank you all at pizza Express wokingham for the whole experience,# Natasha and family.

Good pizzas and great salads. I've had both and they can even make pizzas that used to be on the menu. There are usually vouchers online. The sweets look good.

Arrived at 17.47 and got the bill at 20.35. When I asked to pay the bill the waitress nodded and left and never came back, had to ask two other staff members before I had the opportunity to pay. Was offered a drink once in the whole evening on the hottest day the UK has ever had. Was never brought or offered the desert or drink for the kids menus. Food was average, service was awful. I would consider it the single worst restaurant experience I've ever had.

Meal for my nieces 6th birthday sat down at 6pm had our food at 8pm…. They clearly had staff problems but not once did anyone tell us this and they didn’t even come over and apologise for the wait or offer some drinks. Sat there for 90 minutes without a single member of staff coming over even though clearly a table full of empty drinks. Food came and was okay but one pizza needed a chainsaw to cut l, heard someone tell customers the chef had gone??? Saw families walk out as couldn’t wait any longer, yet they continued to serve Deliveroo orders and completely ignore customers who made the effort to come in. At the end had to pretty much ask for a discount and apology, the assistant manager put the bill down and said “I gave you 20% off” not sorry for the wait or anything then waited 15 minutes to pay as they all disappeared. Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever had

Delicious. Partner and I shared 2 vegan pizzas which were divine! Staff were super friendly and considering how busy it was they kept it all running smoothly.

We've been to this Pizza Express many times over the years and never had any complaints. We visited it for my youngest daughters birthday on an early Monday evening. This followed a successful trip there some weeks back and hence why she wanted to return. It was probably the most quiet I've seen it. Customers were sat at one end of the restaurant and restaurant staff congregated down the other end which made it hard to attract attention. There was no consistent service. Drinks arrived after the starters once we had prompted the waitress who hadn't put the order through. Mains came before the starter dishes had been cleared away. The mains then came apart from my daughters pizza. We waited 5 minutes before having to chase - there was no attempt to ensure we had everything we had everythin ordered. My Calabrese pizza that I ordered wasn't that warm. My daughter needed a glass of water and I had to go down the end where the staff were huddled in order to ask for one. At the end of the meal their "internet had gone down" and I had to pay by cash instead of card. Never had this before, and felt a bit suspect. Very dissappointing all in all. Needs stronger management and better staff training.

This Wokingham pizza express always take exceptionally long. I’m new to the area and have visited this pizza express 3 times in the past 10 days and each time they’ve rushed the food to low standard yet kept me waiting an hour. And they were empty, literally 2 customers in the whole restaurant. They do not represent the pizza express brand well as I used to love pizza express in other areas.

No crowd but they made us wait for half hour, king prawn starter portions is less, pizza was not hot, didn't bring the kids drinks and starters until deserts. Worst experience couple of times, not recommend ing this restaurant

We had a very enjoyable evening. Food was exactly as you’d expect; Pizza Express are very reliable when it comes to their salads, in particular. Staff and management were friendly and efficient.

Yesterday I ordered pizzas on the original dough with extra chicken and carmelized onions. Halluni bites and side of chicken. My partner went to pick up the pizzas and the employee a moment earlier gave the pizzas to someone else And they told my partner that they did not have such an order. They made us a new pizza but not the same what I order. Pizza was on very crispy dough ( which originally is on the menu) with fresh onion which looked like it was added after baking the pizza. In addition, I had to cut our pizza myself at home because it was not cut. Huge disappointment.

Always great service and good value food here. Recommend the kids pizza making (and eating!) parties.

Food was really good (as can be excpected), however, the seating was crowded, we sat right in the middle of servers and incoming diners who had to scoot past. Cocktails are also really overpriced considering the small sizes of the glasses.

We went there last minute and fairly late with a hungry family. The staff was kind enough to accommodate us. And the gentleman serving us as attentive. This is where the good part ends. The tables smelt. The new table we were moved to smelt too. The food was okayish. And we felt was slightly overpriced. We certainly didn't think it was value for money. All in all, good staff but not great food. And on the pricey side.

I ordered sloppy guiseppe with extra king prawns . It was like they just added the king prawn at the end like they forgot the order . The king prawns wasn't cooked before . The first this was my 2nd time since 2010 visiting any pizza express restaurant I was disappointed

We ordered takeaway from Pizza Express at Wokingham and it took almost an hour for the food to be ready. The brownie dessert didn't come with the ice cream and the kids pasta (pictured) looked like baby sick with literally 10 bits of penne pasta! Don't think I'll ever be eating at pizza express after this.

Ordered delivery of Margherita pizza and Cannoloni. The pasta was nice, the Pizza was very disappointing. Arrived cold and was just a basic cheese pizza, without Basil.

Could not do enough to have a smooth running kids party

Aweful service ,10 minutes after sitting down i myself got a jug of water and friends got coke and a peroni (showed the waiter id) then for the manager to come back for the 2nd time firstly grabbing the peroni and the glass and insisted to show id now or he will take away the beer. Bearing in mind, me and my friends are all young and in tracksuits i said ‘that was very stereotypical’ he replies ‘anymore of that attitude or you will have no food and will be gone’. The tone and the way he spoke to me made me feel insecure and anxious. Absolutely disgusting 😔

Had a fantastic meal, calamari, burnt ends pizza and chocolate ice cream with caramel sauce. The service was out of this world too.

Food was just ok. Service was a bit average. Waiter got our kids order wrong but still charged us the full amount. Tables were packed so close to each other. We tried to move to another area less crowded. They mentioned that other customers were expected there so we couldn't move. However even when we left that area was still empty.

A real catalogue of errors. Will not be returning. Food is exactly what you would expect ‘cheap and cheerful’. Service is ‘cheap’ and not ‘cheerful’. Despite living in Wokingham for the last 10 years this is the first time we have visited this branch of pizza express. I have to say that I was very impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. Our waiter was very friendly and the service was great - despite them being super busy due to the carnival taking place on the day we visited. The restaurant was very clean, there was lots of space between the tables and the children were well accomodated. Will go again.

Good service, good food...but darn expensive for "just" pizza

Dined in last night. Service was very slow. Food over over cooked. It seemed the restaurant was prioritising Deliveroo / Just East orders as opposed to diners in the restaurant. One of our Group left before his food arrived as it had taken so long. This is a shame as we’ve been regular loyal customers for years but we won’t be back!

Awful experience. Kitchen in chaos, only received 2 of 4 starters ordered, one main course was missing and finally arrived when everyone else had finished. Staff apathetic. Poor show.

Ordered a takeaway pizza. Not only was it the wrong size and no toppings (despite having paid for a larger pizza with toppings) they refused to correct it. To make it worse the pizza wasn’t even cooked! Horrendous. Avoid at all costs!

Ordered a few times for a takeaway and they never get the order right! Spoken to the manager before absolute disgusting attitude. Once fair enough but every single time it's a bit ridiculous. Wouldn't recommend ordering for takeaway from here.
