The Warren in Wokingham

Love this place, and food was phenomenal. Shared halloumi fries & beef croquettes (both fab), followed by harissa lamb (10/10 recommend).

A great venue, clean vibrant place. Our guest friends had fish and chips, my wife and I had Sunday roast. The beef was so tough we requested steak knives, (should have ordered a chain saw). The Yorkshire Pudding was cardboard in texture. We had to shout over music, (why do pubs think we want to hear unchosen music? It does not create a relaxing atmosphere). Two of us wear state of the art hearing aids, but they struggled to separate the sound of music and to be able to pick up conversation. A point not considered by restaurants. What is wrong with the happy sounds and chatter of diners? The very pleasant staff need to be more focused on guests in order to provide a good service. Preparing and cleaning other tables is commendable but not whilst we wait for service, and when taken for them for them to forget orders or get them wrong. With respect to them and as nice as the staff are, they need perhaps observational training. Meanwhile we continued to struggled to have a decent conversation over unnecessary music. Not the restaurants fault but a beautiful screaming baby on the next table did not help. For us our meals were overpriced food in a nice but noisy environment. At the bottom of the bill we are invited to comment via a web site that we failed to find!

We popped in to see if we could get a table last minute and very pleased we did. Attentive polite staff, lovely meal and left happy and full. Only negative is the toilets are abit of a trek Lovely staff

Came here for a Sunday roast with some friends and will definitely be back! Food was great and staff were really friendly and helpful. Good size portions and the waitress brought us loads of extra gravy when we asked.

Very disappointed, we recommended here to our daughter as a treat , and wished we hadn’t . Scallops were ok , but came with what looked / tasted like apple sauce ( not on menu) Linguine main had a few measly prawns ( not de- veined so not eaten ) , salad was mainly bland slaw (no avocado) and “whipped” goats cheese. - never seen cheese like it . Drinks ok , but got shy of £200 for 3 this restaurant is way overpriced and living on its past reputation.

Millie / Milly is a legend!! I often come to the warren with family & friends and I’m never disappointed but today I wanted to highlight our waitress’ service. She was great and super efficient, really really pleased! The food was great as always and all staff members were smiley and high spririted. Always recommend the Warren :). P.S: the garden is beautiful in the sun!

Visited on Monday evening for a family dinner. There were enough outdoor seating (it was a rare summer day) and not too close to each other. Menu is fabulous and all the items were delicious. Thanks to the staff for excellent service.

I asked for a corner table as my parents are both very hard of hearing. We were given a table away from the majority of the guests, in a corner and it meant we could enjoy a lovely meal with rather loud talking and not disturbing too many other people. It was perfect! The service was exemplary and the food was fabulous. I really enjoyed it. Also, my father who suffers from dementia and 'forgets' that he is hungry ate all of his lunch (pork belly and scallops) and even had a pudding. It was the most I have seen him eat for months. It was a lovely experience and we will be back soon! Thank you!!!

Visit with friends for Sunday lunch as not been for a while and wanted somewhere with a garden for a quick drink in the sunshine before the meal. Quick service at the bar and large selection on the lunch menu. We all chose roasts - 2 chicken and 2 beef. All meals were excellent and comparable with costs elsewhere. Had to have a desert as they are one of a few places who offer a mini-desert with hot drink option - this worked out well all of happy with service and value for money. £80 per couple for lunch with drinks about the going rate. I would say that the front half of the pub is quieter than the section towards the rear as smaller tables and more space. The rear has large tables for groups and was quite a bit noisier - just something to take into account All in all certainly a positive visit - large car park, large garden and happy staff. Only one ‘beer’ available on draught which was a big if a let down but no big deal. Toilet area upstairs could do with some tlc - a good lick of paint for starters on the doors would make a big difference. Worth a visit

If I say it was really good will you give a voucher towards another visit. Conversely if I said it was terrible will you give me a voucher to make up for it ? Actually it was really good, the food was great, the service beyond reproach. Being a horrible old man with a propensity towards the occasional bouts of unrestrained violence I was bitterly disappointed that I had no opportunity to find fault, no matter how hard I tried with our experience at the Warren. Ah, actually I did find the menu slightly limited, but that did not occur to me until got home whereupon I had to take my ire out on the cat. Consequently the cat got it's own back in its own unique way, leaving me a gift on my pillow and believe me it was not a chocolate. Can I have a voucher for the dry cleaning. I will go as far as to say that I will definitely be visiting your establishment again and will recommend you highly. I have an idea for a new dish, have you thought of cat au vin. Its delicious if eaten very late at night whilst waiting for the washing machine to finish. Is that worth a voucher.

Another pleasant evening. Greeted warmly on arrival and very well looked after by all our servers, in particular by Samantha who was efficient though not at all pushy, and who showed a pleasing sense of humour, making us feel valued customers. Our food and drink was very good (our sides of chips were a little overdone but that was a very minor issue), with the kitchen once again managing to provide custard (a must!) for my sticky toffee pudding, and our request for a short break between mains and desserts was not a problem. Our thanks to all concerned, and see you next time.

We were a party of 18 Celebrating Mum and Dad's 65th Wedding Anniversary, it was superb!! The food was awesome, the surrounds were very comfortable and the service we received was exemplary - special thanks to Amy who absolutely made a fantastic dining experience even better! Thank you so much to all involved at The Warren for making Mum and Dad's special Anniversary meal so very good!

Really friendly efficient service I had the roast pork Sunday lunch and it really was delicious I would highly recommend going to eat at the Warren

Such a shame , we arrived yesterday just before 2 pm and was warmly greeted by the gentleman behind the bar , a beautiful place , immaculate and clean and we both looked forward with high expectations of our lunch. I ordered the holy roast chicken which came with fries and chipotle mayo and a rich gravy , my wife ordered the sea bass fillets with new pot. It arrived and I was shocked to see how small the chicken was , when I tried to cut it it was tough and dry , the fries were way overcooked cand were rock hard and burnt . The sea bass was again way overcooked and it was dry and impossible remove the skin. The potatoes were not fresh as they were a grey colour inside. In all fairness when I brought this up with the manager we were offered something else. However , damage has been done ,we had our refund and left.

There were 9 of us but we weren’t asked about any allergies or intolerances Three of us had the ‘crispy’ duck salad. It was all cold so the noodles had stuck to the bottom of the bowl. The duck was not crispy but was over cooked and extremely tough - I’ve eaten the same dish before and had rather liked it Dessert. The lemon tarts were garnished with what-looked-like cress. Perhaps they’d run out of mint leaves? At no point was any of us asked how the meal was. They were busy but the service was pitifully slow I have eaten at The Warren several times over the last 12 months and it’s been okay. Had this been my first visit I would more likely have given 1 to 2 stars

We had a lovely meal here with the mothers day set menu. We all had roast dinners which were lovely, good portions and very quality ingredients and not mass produced it was still warm and you could tell it and taken a lot of effort and hard work to prepare.

We visited the warren yesterday and we had a lovely evening. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was really nice and the service was wonderful. Siddhi looked after us and she was really attentive and friendly all evening. Would highly recommend!

The visit has been second to none. Staff are super wonderful and the food!… the food is gorgeous. We’ve had a bottomless brunch with family today and we were absolutely spoiled. We’ll be back.

My partner and I went for Boxing Day dinner and were really satisfied with all aspects of our visit. We were served by Millie who was lovely. She was warm and attentive, often walking past our table and others to check everything was ok. This was particularly nice to see as it was boxing day, and as a result, was very busy. The food was great too. Way better than what we have experienced at other places. My partner and I had the same starter and main: Soup - really nice, warm and very tasty. Turkey - the whole plate was great and well cooked. Turkey not dry, all elements very nice. For desert I had the fudge brownie which was excellent and my partner had the creme brulé. Both were very nice. We will definitely return and would thoroughly recommend this place.

Not really sure what has happened to this place. This was the first time visiting after a year or so and it is definitely not the same. I mean I understand menus change so even though I was looking forward to some sweet potato fries like they used to have, they do not have them anymore. However, I was undeterred so I went for the dirty burger, remembering it to be absolutely amazing. However, it was not what I remembered at all. The meat was tough, the fillings tasteless and just a bit…well…blah! Service was thin on the ground, the chap behind the bar was initially doing all of the work, drinks orders and taking people to tables…he did not look happy at all - so not the greatest welcome. Toilets a bit of a mess too… All in all it was a ‘just okay’ visit - perhaps my memories from before were incorrect. It is a shame to see a once great place just become a typical average experience.

Attended for family get together and was impressed all round, our service was outstanding and matched the quality of the food. This is not my first visit and I have been impressed by the consistent high standard of this venue. Well done to all concerned and Thank You.

I have never in my life sent a meal back and refused to pay but today this changed. We were a table of 6 , 3 vegans, 1 vegetarian and 2 omnivores. OUr first course, which was labelled on the menu as vegan VE came out served with dairy butter. If we hadnt asked we would have eaten it. Why label a dish as vegan and send it out with Dairy. This could have actually been a disaster for anyone with a dairy allergy. Anyway, the first course was a soup, which tasted njice but it was luke warm, one persons was actually cold so he sent it back and was told it would take 10 minutes to warm it up so he said dont bother, My main course was a celeriac steak, well it was a joke, it was neither a steak , it was a lump, it was hard and obviously the celeriac had been hanging around too long as it was not nice and white as a fresh cerleriac should be. I sent it back. I am not going to even bother to describe the other disappointing meals as this review would be a mile long. All together an awful experience. The waiting staff were really lovely.
