Food was poor. Haven’t ordered there for a while. Main chicken dish tasted powdery. Starters the veg samosa was soggy. Not enjoyable at all waste of money went in the bin! I usually would ring but just couldn’t be bothered ! Just wont go there again
To us, there were no Indian spices in our meal (biryanis, side, bread). Everything looked the same: yellow and tasted the same:salty and fatty. The paratha & naan were soggy and fell apart into a mess. Ironically, we were attracted to this takeaway by all the 5 star reviews, which, we have concluded, must be works of fiction. Did not consume very much of it, but it was enough to make us unwell. The first and last time we will be using this establishment.
We purchased a Groupon voucher in good faith for a Sunday breakfast for 4. We then spent over 3 weeks trying to book a table, as their phone was never answered ! We then tried a web enquiry, to which we got no response. So we visited one evening, to find 1 young lad running the place, which was completing empty, telling us food was no longer served there ! I understand the fact that changes happen in businesses, but the fact that Groupon are still selling vouchers is very poor. It is inexcusable that Wicks have not contacted them to remove their offers !
Knew this place well a few years ago and it used to be buzzing and a local hive of chat.
We stopped off on the way through today after visiting family and what a disappointment.
Tatty, several tables that rocked, uncomfortable chairs, silent uncomfortable atmosphere, no music, cold ( woodburner lit) staff a bit unbothered. What a shame to see it go downhill. I’m not one for bad reviews at all, quite the opposite, and perhaps my expectations were higher. Food was average to higher expense for what it was but put on a cold plate so stayed warm for only a very short while.
Unsure why there are bad reviews for this restaurant. We were staying at the hotel as a family with a 2 year old. We really enjoyed our food. The staff were great. Great deal where kids eat free with paying adult. Would definitely eat there again
Wow beets Greg’s hands down the food it hot and fresh yes it is a bit more expensive but it’s well worth the money a great bakery just need more of them around
Ordered a takeaway for 4 for delivery. Arrived 10 minutes early. Delicious Chinese takeaway consisting of chow mein, fried rice, kung po and ribs. Complimentary prawn crackers. Catered for a peanut allergy. Would recommend and we will order again.
I really do try to refrain from giving out one and two star reviews but sadly on this occasion there was no way of avoiding it. The Cafe itself is well located for bus station customers in Winchester and offers a reasonable range of food. The main issues for me was that the cafe itself is incredibly run down and shabby which in itself makes the place feel uninviting. Whats more, the standard of cleanliness is pretty poor - tables were left dirty, lots of uncleaned spillage marks on the counter and a glance into the kitchen area also had me doubting the hygiene practices of the establishment. The standard of service was pretty poor with the person serving me saying as little as possible and making no effort to make me feel welcome. When it came to the food - it was mediocre at best - poor quality and lacking flavour.
Places like this serve a purpose - but I think the owners need to invest a little time, effort and money into making this cafe a little better. I can't say I would feel comfortable eating there again sadly.
If I can find a positive, it is that the food is very reasonably priced. But I think this also reflects in the quality of the food. I would rather have paid a little more for better quality food.
This is my first review below a 3 star, so I would like to think that I am not the toughest critic out there!
Family reunion 40 people, welcomed with a smile, attentive friendly staff especially Cece who was amazing! Thank you for looking after us. Great food we all enjoyed it. Could have a few more Vegan choices for starter, main and desert but having said that the vegan sandwich and chips were delicious.
.great atmosphere in the pub highly recommend 👌
This lovely pub was the destination visit for a wonderful birthday meal, as always, beautiful plates of food, excellent wine choice and friendly attentive staff. Cannot recommend this pub enough.
The list of negatives
Late delivery
Sweet and sour sauce was more like jelly.
Chicken satay skewers did not come with any sauce.
The chow mein had a burnt taste to it above the usual seasoning of the pan.
All food was just about warm enough to still be edible but not enough to be enjoyable.
Such a shame.
I ordered from this place and was not very happy with my order. It took a very long time to arrive and had no flavour at all. Just tasted like oil with no flavour. Do not recommend

Worst burger king I've been to, slow service and food lukewarm which is strange considering it took them about 20 minutes to get my order. £15 for the meal is atrocious. Won't be coming back.
