Red Naga in Winchester

We have been using this restaurant for take away every weekend also during the week at times but after the experience we had tonight I will never go back . We ordered our take away as usual and my husband went to collect it . On collection he noticed that the price was expensive when all we ordered was a curry sauce with no chicken, which was meant to be large but the container was half filled and the Red Naga special rice was not the normal one but one that was so hot you could not eat it … ( it had chicken threw it also and when we ordered it was made clear it was vegetarian) when we usually order the special rice it is yellow not red . We rang the Red Naga and said £20.00 was very expensive for a rice ( even though it was large ) and a curry sauce ( no chicken which) and a Nan bread . We went back to pick up a special rice and the worker in there was very very rude to my daughter and myself when explaining the price to which I ask him why we were charged for a chicken curry with no chicken as it was just a sauce to which he said to me “ you listen here madam “ how dare he speak to me like that . I told him they had lost our trade from now on to which it didn’t bother him one little bit . I don’t understand how they can afford to loose trade when in the whole restaurant there were only about 4 tables of customers even at this time of year when everywhere else is extremely busy. I think they need to look at their staff and the way they speak to customers and maybe they will find out why they are not as busy as other Indian Restaurants. Very very rude staff no customer service at all . Will never be back and they have also lost the trade from my family as well . How dare he speak to anyone like that it s not acceptable at all .

Oh don’t even get me started I loved this place top and bottom my friend lives there and the curry’s I got was so sweet and tasty but one faulter was the fact it took sooooo long😩 it was nice though and the food was pleasing

Still our favourite in town. Don't understand how rated so low! Food is always quick and absolutely delicious. We've been ordering here for a good few years now

We've ordered takeaway from here a bunch of times and surprised to see the low rating. The food is delicious, it's always hot and always delivered super quick. Prices are reasonable too.

Our first try out of Red Naga to celebrate the sale of our house. The food arrived promptly and it was hot. All down hill after that I’m afraid. The coconut rice was sticky/stodgy and the nann breads were more like a raw pancake. We appreciate that each restaurant has their own style but it has been our experience that nanns are light and fluffy. Anyway we tried to make the most of what turned out to be a disappointing dinner and an empty wallet. I like to be fair so I emailed the restaurant and am still waiting for a reply. It’s a shame they didn’t reply I wouldn’t have left a review such as this if their customer service existed.

Really bad!!! Usually go to Himalaya which is good every time but tonight thought we’d try something different, big mistake! We’ve got butter chicken and a korma (not very adventurous but it’s what we like) the chicken in both curries is terrible, chewy and tough. The sauce is thick and sits on top of the rice. Flavour is non existent. On just eat they have 5.6/6 god knows how. Just seen 3.5/5 one here even that’s generous. Awful!

Just rubbish don't even bother, korma watery and tandoori chicken didn't even taste of tandoori, rice was average at best defintely a waste of money, oh the lamb samosa was crap too

We’ve had takeaways from Red Naga and finallydecided to go in person. Great service, very good food, we will certainly be back.

Resaonable Indian food shame the service doesn't match. Used to be better but the waiter we had was in such a rush to take our our order don't know why as he only had the bar to go back behind and they weren't busy. Also he had no knowledge of the dishes when asked.. Sadly lacking and we won't be going back.

Had to be a take away due to lockdown restrictions. First time I've ordered from Red Naga as I fancied a change and wow I'm glad I did. It was easy to order direct via their website, I got an email confirming the order and as soon they opened I got a call to take payment over the phone as I had requested. The member of staff was friendly on the phone and confirmed the order time. It arrived a few minutes ahead of time which was great. The food was hot and packaged well. The delivery driver was also polite and friendly. Portion size was great and the taste and flavours were outstanding. No excessive grease evident in any of the food and the naan was light and fluffy. Will certainly be ordering again and hoping they will be allowed to open again so I can enjoy a meal there. Thank you all at Red Naga

Just started eating our food and wow what a let down! We got 3 free but stale popadoms. If your going to put peas in a dish put it on the menu! My Konkan chicken was supposed to be a creamy coconut sauce with spices but it tasted like sugar water and no spice taste at all and full of peas and onions with tough chicken. My wife's shagoti chicken also lacked flavour apart from a sour taste from the mustard seeds! Waited an hour so expected much better, our first and certainly our last order.

Visited the red naga on Saturday night about 8.30, the food & the service were outstanding. The food was fresh & tasty with no red food dye, naan was great also. Will definitely be returning

It was quiet when we went. Like the new decor and staff very friendly and helpful. Best nan in ages and my food was delicious. My partner was pleased that his mixed grill had not been dyed an unearthly shade of red!

Went there on Wedns 26th. Has had a face lift and looks fantastic. Service and food was great. There was 9 of us and all had different dishes. Food was served in a acceptable time frame. Will definitely return. Highly recommend.
