Fantastic food, good takeaway service, never have eaten in the restaurant but will do, lovely decor and very friendly staff, will point you in the right direction to make your choices of food. Definitely go here again.

This is now the WALTHAM TANDOORI and much improved since it was called Charlie’s. We often use this takeaway and wanted to leave a review as it is always good and I like to support local business. Our most recent takeaway delivered 5/2/2021- king prawn balti, prawn patia, sag motar and popppodums - all of it was excellent, good portion size and really tasty. I’m more about having a good meal rather than a cheap one but it was really good value for money too.

Ordered last night found a long black hair in my curry dish. Disgusted, safe to say I didn't eat any of the food afterwards.

Gutted I've just wasted over £20 at this place. Poppadoms where soggy. The rice under cooked and still hard. Chips over cooked and hard. Chicken in the meals was over cooked and dry and chewy. And the different Currys all taste the same .. very poor effort that ended up in the bin.. don't waste your money and shop elsewhere to avoid disappointment

This is without doubt The Best Indian Takeaway in Hull, end of. I cannot believe here on google reviews all the bad scores, this is not a true representation of this takeaway or the Chefs Very high standards. I've grown up around Indian restaurants and takeaways all over hull, being white british, but i've always loved Indian food, I personally know every Indian Takeaway and Restaurant in Hull, most are families that own numerous food businesses, but i can hand on heart say thet Spice Tandoori is without doubt the SINGLE BEST INDIAN TAKEAWAY IN HULL!!, no competition at all, I know i have tried them all, this chef buys the best and freshest ingredients, he will NOT buy cheap to make more profit, so I cannot understand the bad scores, maybe competitors staff leaving false reviews, anyway back to the food from Spice Tandoori, I wont eat anywhere with no flavour, or small portions,or bad food,i do have very high standards, and I am defending this business, all of what i say is 100% true, their food is outstanding, always consistently top quality, i love their beef it is the highest quality, comparable to steak. If you are reading the other bad reviews please believe me, that I know what I am talking about,i am crazy on all curries, starters, meals etc, I know all about how they are made, and I can guarantee you as a Yorkshire man that these are the absolute best in Hull, out of all the takeaways,and restaurants, they are Bengali chefs from Bangledesh, of the highest order, they do have extremely high standards, so if your thinking of ordering a really tasty flavouresome Indian authentic takeaway, then these are your guys. Still don't believe me, then pop into their shop, it's an open kitchen, you can see everything prepared fresh in front of you, even their menus say, "We are second to none", The best Indian Takeaway in Hull, that's one hell of a statement to make, UNLESS, they are, and in my honest opinion, in my 30+ years experience of trying all the Inidans in Hull ( i mean all of them) they truly are that. I had to leave this review out of professional respect to these guys and what they produce, for me the food is like heavenly, they do not deserve the bad comments that are here on Google, it is not true, when you know something is extremely good, and people say otherwise, you have to defend them, I don't want such a good chef and takeaway to be victimised in this way, when it is not a reflection of the truth, ROB FROM HULL.

dhansak curry was really good , pilau was dry , poppadoms were stale and the naan bread was actually burnt on the bottom with a bit of charcoal stuck to it :(

I called to tell them they'd missed an item off the order and they rudely refused to deliver it at any point saying that they were too busy. They then hung the phone up on me.

If I’m honest I think my order actually came from India... Delivery was late and when it did actually arrive stone cold and missing items. Hours after ordering the delivery driver rocked up with some cold packet rice which was nice, the temperature of the rice was rather cooling in comparison to the spice of the curry (although stone cold) the spices blew our heads off. So in conclusion next time I’ll walk to India for my curry bet it will be quicker AND I won’t leave half my order there. This takeaway is gross 😷🤮

Absolutely appalling, my order arrived the lid was not on my curry it was all over bad all the food ruined rang to ask for a replacement or money back, was told they was too busy to sort it an out the phone down.

An absolute disaster from beginning to end. Unfriendly greeting, disgruntled take away customers complaining of having awaited 1 hour for their food. Food arrived after an hour, cold plates, hair in one curry, cold naam, reheated and returned burnt. One curry was very nice, one had unacceptable taste and was rejected, the hair dish was refused as was the offer of a replacement. The other was a very average curry. In spite of all the reductions the bill still was over £50 missing completely the fact that this was an end of Christmas family meal prior to my son’s and fiancés return to London. A shocking choice for a celebratory meal. We will never return.

Ordered a takeaway Saturday night, the rice was not what we ordered, three different dishes all had the same runny red sauce, the prawn dish had about 6 small prawns, the rest was horrible juice, when we phoned to complain we were asked if we would like a few more popadoms !!! Er no, we just won’t use you again

Have been going here for 20 years and was appalled tonight. Lots of dirty plates by the buffet that they wanted us to use. When we pointed out they were dirty they wiped them with a napkin and wanted us to use them .... obviously told them no!!! Free sambucca after dinner was mostly water! When told the manager about it all he really didn’t want to know. Won’t be going back!!!!

We went for a sit down meal Sunday 24/11/19. They have a buffet option on a Sunday which is good. However, I found the buffet quite limited and there were no signs telling you what the dishes were. We were sat down and drinks orders taken promptly. 2 plates with food in and the staff were over us asking if we had finished and took the plates away. We had only been in there an hour before being made to feel like we were in the way even though the restaurant was empty bar one other table with the staff poking their head around and looking at us.I’d say the food was okay, but we just didn’t like the service.

Had to give 1 star as NO stars is not an option. Just ordered a take away from these guys! The mixed grill was disgusting, bland more like a starter than a main meal with a very watery sauce. Chicken on the tikka starter was rubbery and is now in the bin with the rest of the food. Worse take away we have ever had!

Thought we would try this restaurant for takeaway as it has changed hands. Have used previous restaurant for 20 years. Well NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!! Absolutely appalling!! Brought food home to find the korma was so running it was only edible through a straw! Restaurant sent another after a phone call, second attempt was worse!! Literally water consistency with korma colouring!! Called restaurant, spoken to by a rude chap who said I either eat it or bin it! I wouldn't feed it to a street rat let alone eat it myself!!!!! Avoid like the plague and drive the extra 10 minutes to Kuti's, a proper restaurant with customer service and the ability to cook!!

Almost empty at 9:30pm on a Friday night - not a good sign.. We were quickly greeted and shown to our table. Drink & poppadom orders taken promptly, but the waiter & waitress who served us our food didn't communicate at all, they didn't seem to be confident speaking English. I thought the food ok but my partner thought it not as good as our last visit about a month ago..

We were a party of six and ordered a variety of dishes , everone agreed the food was excellent, exceptionally tasty.Spices were at a perfect level , meat was tender , sauces excellent. Absoluely no waste. Service was fine and all dishes were delivered at same time. First visit but would certainly visit again One of the best.

Went there on a Sunday evening which we booked a table as we thought it would be busy which it was.There isn't much parking space outside so not sure where you would park.The inside is very tidy and clean with the tables all nicely laid out.They had a buffet here but we decided to go for food of the menu all dishes were brought out fairly quickly there wasnt much waiting all the food was delicious and plenty of it the prices were quite reasonable as well,I thought it was a nice touch having the logo of the tandoori on the plates,bowls etc would differently come here again

Large restaurant which was fairly empty considering it was valentine's day. We had the banquet option and ordered for two as it seemed plenty for the three of us. The food was delicious and so much of it. At last real paneer! Really delicious and I would visit again. Chrissie (paneer lover)

Terrible food missed 2 days of work because was sick 4 hours after the meal. Then spent 2 days in bed with stomach cramps .

Ordered a LAMB Damsak and a Chat. Finally arrived after 75 minutes. The damsak was CHICKEN! Food not hot and barely warm. Called up to complain and no offer of a refund. Will not be ordering from here again.

One of the best Indian food places I've had. Sometimes the spice can be lacking, but overall a solid meal, very tasty, and the Balti is hot enough to even warm my cold heart!

Nice buffet, although it seems a lot smaller than it used to be. Lovely staff, who I think are the same from before the restaurant changed hands. The menu is odd and is printed on what seems like a leaflet, and I'm not sure Indian, American and Italian work together. However the food is lovely, and we enjoyed a nice complimentary baileys/ sambucca afterwards.

I recently placed a delivery order and unfortunately had an issue with my curry. I phoned them back to report the issue, not expecting anything in return. However, to my pleasant surprise, they not only replaced my curry but also re-delivered my entire order as a way of a gesture of goodwill and apology for their mistake which I think is commendable as the entire order was quite large. My thanks to the staff and the owner, I will be returning as the curry (chicken korma) was truly delicious.

Didn’t realise the Waltham Tandoori had changed to Charlie’s. Thought we would give it a go. Not disappointed, food and service was brilliant. I should have taken pictures of our food but forgot!! It is a must visit

We went for dinner at Charlie's after a day out in the New Forest, today. They serve Indian, Italian and American food, which sounded like an interesting combination, but suited us as I love Indian food and my girlfriend doesn't!There were only two other diners in the restaurant when we arrived at 7pm and yet the service was really poor. They had to go and check if we could have the cocktails we ordered (they were on their menu!). Also, when my girlfriend ordered a sirloin steak (the most expensive item on the menu) they had to go and check if they had any! Unfortunately for her they did and when it arrived it was absolutely massacred (she had ordered it medium). The promised mushrooms to accompany it never appeared and the chips were so hard and dry that I suspect they had been sitting in an oven for an hour before she got them. To be fair to them I enjoyed my lamb rogan, pilau rice and Bombay potato but the naan I ordered never appeared! We didn't ask for replacement items for my girlfriend. This was partly because she doesn't like to make a fuss but mainly because the service was so very slow that we didn't want to wait the amount of time that replacements would have taken. If you are determined to try it I would say stick to the Indian menu and good luck!

Was 100% better when it was the tandoori. Been visiting for years and come back because of the old staff. They are amazing and if ever they went we wouldn't come back. Curry buffet amazing and the young waiter last night couldn't do enough for us. Atmosphere not great, a few years back a Sunday buffet night would be packed. Would come back just wish it hadn't changed

The Indian food is excellent (has been for years now); the new American and Italian dishes are fairly good but I've not tried them all! The service is good, and the staff are friendly. A wonderful building too with lots of character. Takeaway or eating in, it's good quality food, and I've not had a terrible experience to date.

We have use Waltham Tandoori for over 21 years. The quality of their food is beyond reproach. Whether it be take away or dining in the restaurant itself.Ansar and his staff provide an excellent service.We would highly recommend Waltham Tandoori, as it is now known as, to all and sundry.Excellent place to dine - in or take away.The only reason we don't have their meals now is that they cannot deliver as we live in Rhodes.

Usually have nothing but good to say about this place but it has gone down hill badly. Food not up to scratch compared with the price. Staff seemed like they didn’t want me there, service without a smile! No atmosphere at all and will NEVER be going back. The food was tasteless, the order was wrong, the popadoms tasted like they were cooked in three year old oil. The curry and sides were simply aweful. Don’t waste your time visiting here. Go elsewhere!

Never write reviews but tonight was truly awful! Shame I can’t give 0 stars!* I sent my drink back as it was flat. * The waiter thought the carbonara was vegetarian and didn’t know what pancetta was! * Starters, didn’t come with the dips it said on the menu but were otherwise fine.* Main took forever. The pasta was barely warm and tasteless. Mushrooms and bacon were non existent! * Cheese burger turned up a chicken burger with cheese! The chips were cold. The chicken WASNT chicken! It was a cross between rubber and plastic! The lettuce was brown. Absolutely inedible. Needless to say I didn’t eat it or pay for it! * The ketchup and mayo bottles were brought to the table empty! * The bill took 15 minutes to arrive ‘as the management want to talk to you’ but they never turned up!I will not be returning!

We were given menus and ordered two Archers and lemonade and two mojitos and 4 popadoms. After half an hour the two mojitos hadn’t arrived and we hadn’t been asked what we wanted to eat. We asked for the bill. A staff member then told us they couldn’t make mojitos! The bill was given to us for £17.90!!!We asked to speak to a manager but were told no one was in charge. We paid the bill and said how disappointed we were and were spoken to very rudely and one staff member even told us to shut up!I’ve been to many restaurants all over the world but I have never been spoken to like this and I think you should know you staff are appalling and I have never had worse customer service

Yet another name change (now caked Charlie's) for the same restaurant and same staff... which has introduced large price increases for the Indian meals and a delivery charge for those requesting it. Strangely its now marketing itself as an American Italian Indian, ... with said meals on its Petersfield addressed menu...?The takeaway we had this evening was £7.50 including naan a few weeks ago but £11.95 this evening... and whilst it was ok, 5 pieces of chicken isn't especially generous. As pricing is now on a par with the other Indian restaurant in the village which has always served better for but for a higher price, that will now be the default option.

Excellent value for money. We had the buffet, all you can eat.it was really tasty. Even the kids enjoyed it.

Twice now we have arrived hoping to have the lunch (advertised on huge signs outside the restaurant) and twice they have been closed.

I eat various curries on a regular basis, but my partner is a reluctant trier,so on arrival management were made clear that partner was on a trial run. They actively made recommendation they then adjusted the spice content and much to my surprise she ate her meal and tried my Waltham Surprise which was a chichen base but more spice "one chilli" on the menu, which she enjoyed, so there is now hope for nonbelievers, the staff were brilliant and attentive at all time recommend a return

This restaurant is, in fact, no longer called the The Bishops Waltham Tandori. It is now the Waltham Spice, although most other aspects remain the same. The food is still fine and the service is good. Sadly, I noticed that they are now handwriting a service charge onto the bill - it's with the handwritten list of dishes on the bill and so easy to miss. The service charge was less than I would have tipped and, if it doesn't bother you, then I would still recommend this restaurant. Personally, I view service charges as a dishonest, hidden tax and I personally would not eat here again on principle, solely for that reason.

This restaurant - now name changed to Waltham Spice - had historically normally been good, however lately there has been some concerns. The man on the till claimed on 2 separate occasions 'the card machine is not working' so they are only taking cash. I find it suspicious that the card machine is constantly faulty. Maybe the owners know why they prefer cash? On the last visit the toilets were dirty, even though it was early in the day. The vegetables weren't so fresh last time, there is a notice up saying they no longer provide a complimentary drink due to inflation (fair enough but to me it's evidence they are really struggling). The home office immigration van has been at this restaurant a few times lately? and it's also cut it's restaurant size back with a partition. I reckon either sort the issues out or may be time to shut up shop.

Always great food, authentic flavours. If your going to moan about a delivery taking 1 hour go somewhere that doesn't cook from fresh.

Probar el buffet de la noche del domingo ofrece un cambio a nuestra casa habitual curry. Domingo y festivos, el lugar pronto se llenaba. Hay pocos entrantes a elegir, ensalada, chutneys y tres o cuatro principales curris de golf, así como dos platos de arroz, curry de verduras y naan pan de lado. Su sin duda representaba una buena relación calidad-precio y todas las carnes, especialmente el cordero era tierna. El curry garbanzo también era muy buena. Sin embargo, todo era un poco sosa. El servicio fue lo suficientemente amable y bueno que sirven Kingfisher lager, así como cobra. Si vas por la opción buffet poppadoms estar pendientes que pagan como extra.

A mi hija le gusta el pollo tikka desde aquí, así que a menudo me pida comida para llevar, que incluye la tikka, pan naan, patatas fritas y poppadoms. Nuestro hijo nos llevó a cenar en enero, mi esposa, y a su novia noruega. Estuvimos allí temprano en la noche a las 8 de la tarde y el restaurante era bastante tranquila. Que llenaba ya la tarde. El maitre era atento y servicial, como eran los camareros. Mi esposa no es acostumbrado a comer en un restaurante de comida india y tiene aversión por los secos coco y muy calientes, platos picantes. Ella tenía dificultades a la hora de elegir un plato del menú, pero el maitre ofreció ayuda d', escucharon sus aversiones y le preguntó si podría sugerir un plato principal. Cuando llegaron, mi esposa estaba muy satisfecho con su placa y aclaro!El menú era bueno y de fácil comprensión. Allí estaban todos los platos típicos que uno esperaría, más algunas especialidades de la casa. La comida estaba bien preparada y bien presentada. Las aguas eran atento aunque no autoritaria. El entorno era agradable y cómodo y otros comensales eran agradables.Todos disfrutamos de la experiencia de comer en el Bishop's Waltham Tandoori y considerar aquí pronto.

The food is fine but the service is rubbish. I ordered on line and when it was delivered the delivery man told me they'd forgot a can of coke. He gave me the money back. When I started to dish out the food i realised they'd missed off another item. When I rang to tell them they didn't offer to refund but to redeliver which I had no choice but to accept even though it would mean having to interupt the the meal. No offer was made to reimburse me for the inconvenience. I will be ordering from elsewhere in the future.

Delivery was a little later than expected however well worth the wait. The food was delicious and a good price too compared to other places. Will always use this place now because the value was exceptional. Compliments to the chef.

Yo vivo localmente y a poca distancia de dos restaurantes indios, cada uno parece estar orientado a una clientela! Pero la principal ventaja de este es su buffet por las noches en los miércoles y los domingos por la tarde, a un costo de £10.95.Hay un montón de contenedores de metal caliente steamingly, lleno de todo tipo de comida, desde cebolla bhajis encantador, pan naan, dos tipos diferentes de arroz, muchos diferentes "curries" (los indios no llamar) - con la licitación que pollo, cordero y ternera en diferentes niveles de condimentos! El personal de los hombres jóvenes son educados, serviciales y eficientes y el lugar rebosa cada noche. Comida para llevar son populares y puede ser entregado dentro de un determinado radio, o los clientes pueden sentarse y esperan sus órdenes con una cerveza fresca del bar atractivo. I'm glad to live within a 5 minute walk of this place. Never had a bad meal here. Service is great, prices are good, the banquet nights and buffet nights are excellent value. If i could give this a 6 i would.

We went to BW Tandoori when our son came to visit us for the first time as we are new to BW. We were very disappointed by the fact that we were surrounded by tables with noisy children on them and the food was ok but certainly nothing to rave about. The staff were very pleasant but I doubt very much that we will be back.

En reserva hace varias semanas pedí a sentarse en una parte concreta del restaurante. Cuando llegamos, mi grupo de 4 nos llevaron a una mesa circular para 6 nada cerca de donde me pidió, sabiendo que se vuelve ruidosa aquí y nos capachos de oír que pedimos que nos cambiaran, pero parece ser que todas las mesas para 4 estaban llenos, así que un grupo de alrededor de un lado de la mesa. Un camarero entró y preguntó si queríamos bebidas pero no había menú de bebidas, así que fuera de él hizo, tuvimos que pedir de nuevo el menú de bebidas antes de finalmente pedimos unas bebidas y esperó pacientemente para su llegada. Tuvimos que pedir de nuevo nuestras bebidas y preguntó de nuevo si podíamos pedir nuestra comida. Media hora más tarde nuestro entradas llegaron y eran apenas tibia, así que llamamos a un camarero y señalamos, él entonces procedió a poner sus manos sobre las samosas. Todos los entrantes y vino el gerente y juego justo él dijo entrantes y bebidas sería descontado de la factura. Antes del empezar volvimos otro camarero llegó con el platos calientes para nuestros platos principales que me hace piensa nuestros platos principales están ahora en algún lugar de ser tibia.Entradas volvimos. Samosa y cebolla, no bajhi raita en vista, así que un poco seco. Platos principales, ahora llegó he comido pollo shashlik todo Hampshire. Normalmente llega en un plato de comidas calientes servidos con ensalada y raita.. no normalmente aquí. Un plato de bastante seco (o mantenían caliente) de pollo y pimientos era paquete por mi lado y eso fue todo. No una vez en la noche no cualquiera que venga a nuestra mesa a preguntar si todo estaba bien o si queríamos más bebidas. Cuando llegamos, nos cuenta a pagar por la botella de vino, pero la factura de las bebidas era 38 libras cuando nos preguntó que tuvimos que discutir sobre el número de cervezas que habíamos pedido... no tuvimos ninguno! Dos veces la factura antes de que volví era correcta. Así que en una noche muy insatisfactorio. Era la noche del FA y la tome siempre estaban muy ocupados, pero hay muchos restaurantes indios alrededor tienes que ganar su lealtad de los clientes.

The buffet is fantastic! All the dishes are freshly cooked and a good variety. The staff are friendly and always give s warm welcome.

As always we found the food at this restaurant to be both excellent and extremely good value. We started with a Chicken Chat and Prawn Puri, both generous portions in well flavoured sauces. Mains included a deliciously tangy Hari-Ali chicken (a new one for me but one I'm sure I'll have again); mild, but not over-sweet Lamb Passanda and sides of Motar Panir and Garlic Naan. This may not sound like a large meal but between two of us we only just about managed to finish it. All the dishes were rich,but distinctively spiced and flavoured.

I enjoyed this restaurant. They do get a bit confused when telling you what each dish is when it arrives but otherwise a great experience.

This was going to be our third visit to the Bishops Waltham Tandoori as the food on the previous two occasions had been good. I booked this time for a surprise mothers date treat for my wife from our children. I booked this on 2/3/16 for a 2:30pm sitting as advertised as available on the open table website and received my confirmation e mail. The owner / manager ( Mohammed ) telephoned my home on the 4/3/16 and proceeded to tell my wife that they could not honour the reservation as their kitchen was going to shut at 2pm! Firstly letting the secret out the bag and secondly leaving me with no hope of getting a reservation two days before the day anywhere else! When I returned from work that evening and my wife told me - I immediately contacted the restaurant to find out what was going on and was told that if we wanted to go the latest they could accommodate us was 1:00pm. This was completely unacceptable for me as I did not finish work until 1:00pm on the 6th. Not once during the call did the person apologise and I've got to admit I was completely dissatisfied and flabbergasted with the way we were treated. Firstly, if the restaurant was not due to be open at that time then why was it advertising it on the open table restaurant. Secondly, once taking a booking and sending confirmation of such I find it completely unacceptable they did not honour it. Thirdly, not to even apologise showed me what our custom meant to them, absolutely nothing. I am also disappointed in open table as I also logged a complaint with the open table team but as yet have not had a response. Obviously we don't really matter. We've been disgusted with the whole experience and although Open table has offered very good service up till this point and apart from not responding to our complaint, the management at the restaurant really need to consider some changes if they value their customer satisfaction and repeat business.

The staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming and the food is very tasty and very well priced. No complaints at all!!

As long as you do not want to eat too late the eat as much as you want buffet is superb, and great for groups and children too. Lovely range of starters and curries available. Friendly service too

Often use the takeaway here which is excellent, but occasionally do dine in. Ate here early on New year's eve and it was brilliant. Nice family atmosphere, good service and food. Portions are a good size, so don't overorder!

Visitamos este restaurante con amigos anoche. Ordenar era apresurado, la comida vierten en la mesa, las bebidas no se entregan incluso aunque se le pidió varias veces y luego a Cap todo la factura llegó a la mesa, no habíamos solicitado, y, de hecho no había terminado pidiendo - nos iban a tener más bebidas y café.La comida en sí era demasiado salada y no particularmente cálida.No vamos a volver, quédate con amigos ya que es muy superior.

Esto no es una crítica de la visita, pero me di cuenta de que me han estado usando este restaurante tanto como para llevar y el asiento ocasional significa durante casi 20 años, y nunca antes había escrito una crítica.Amable, profesional, personal servicial.Consistentemente comida excelente.Muy buena variedad en el menú.Los precios son razonables.Escriba otra crítica 20 años a partir de ahora, estoy seguro de que será igual de bueno ... !

La primera visita aquí ya que suele ir a amigos, fuimos en la noche de buffet. Fantástico! tanta variedad, comida caliente y muy sabroso. Genial para probar un poco de todo en vez de un plato. Personal muy atento y muy amable. Excelente precio, una familia Baileys Sambuca o gratuito después también! Fantástico lugar, creo que hemos convertirse en nuevos clientes habituales : -)
