Fantastically good food. Nepalese/Indian menu. Here there were many dishes in addition to the usual Indian that you know. Exciting. Also excellent service.

Friendly, good value and authentic food. Good selection on the menu including traditional Northern Indian as well as Nepalese. Fast service. We had left an umbrella and returned next day to find it safely stored.

Had the Gurkhas revenge curry. It is excellent 👌

We went for lunch on a weekday so it's not crowded. The food tastes great with amazing spices, and the appetiser comes in a portion that's bigger than expected. Very friendly staff. Will definitely go again.

Consistently great food Dishes are unique and full of flavour Customer service is always very pleasant More expensive than other local Indian restaurants, but worth the money in comparison. Only negative is the lack of seating, so if you plan on eating in, book in advance

Supremely reliable Nepalase / Indian restaurant near to the train station and city centre. Visited just before Christmas and service was impressively good despite the restaurant being packed. Managed to order some Indian classics like Dal Makhani and. Mattar Paneer which aren't always on offer at Bangladeshi type restaurants and takeaways. The vegetarian offering is particularly good. Only let down very slightly by being quite tightly packed in with other diners - some of whom were very drunk for the time of night. Wouldn't have been Ideal for those looking for a quiet meal.

Really pleased to discover this gem in Winchester. Food, service and atmosphere were all top class. Be sure to book as it was constantly full on the evening we were there. It seems other people agree that it’s well worth a visit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don't waste your money in this place. The staff were rude and made us feel like an inconvenience to be rushed out the door as quickly as possible. Our booking was for 6.30pm and at about 7.45pm we were told we needed to give up our table at 8.00pm for another booking, despite our food not arriving until around 7.20pm. This gave us roughly 40 minutes to eat starters and mains and no time for dessert or a coffee if we had wanted one... a very disappointing experience.

The food here was absolutely lovely, it was beautifully spiced and advice was available on heat levels 😉. It is however a place to eat and leave. The atmosphere is very loud and there is virtually no circulation space due to the tightly packed seating. That said if you want to dine with friends do as we did dine and depart for conversation and a bit more space.

The only place to get a curry in Winchester. Food is always exceptional and the staff are even better. My parents visit once a year and every time we go, they are remembered & greeted like they are regulars. Couldn't recommend it more

Absolutely cannot fault this place. One of the best meals we've had and the service was A+++. We polished off all our plates and were happily full. We also had a wine each and at less than £25 each it was a bargain. So much flavour! Highly recommended.

Gurkha's never disappoints and having been many times without reviewing I thought it was time I did! Flavours are excellent, service is fast and conducted with a smile, both of which mean this is well worth visiting. There's a lot to like so if you haven't been yet, make time to do so, it's worth it.

Hands down one of the best places to eat in Winchester, certainly the best for curry! The Gurkha inn has a buzzing and cosy atmosphere, with great selection of drinks to welcome you with! Interesting and authentic food at it's finest, which is always at the highest quality ! Staff are lovely and super attentive, even gave my father a lovely birthday suprise at the end! This place never disappoints, would highly recommend if you love your food !

I came straight from the railway station and was super hungry after a train trip that included delays. Excellent service and fantastic Nepalese food really cheered me up. I was so hungry that I took the starter called “spice Nepalese chicken”, and didn’t even realise it was a starter, so hearty was the portion, caramelised battered chicken pieces with fried chili, pepper and onion, an amazing treat. It was so good I actually went back again later the same day.

Pleasant helpful staff. Advised on menu and served promptly with polite, friendly manner. Very good food from the A La Carte Menu. I recommend a visit. Well maintained restaurant with and dinning area.

We booked a table with friends for a lunch time meal to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We knew we loved the food as they did our wedding food for us and it was one of the things people commented on most! Even still, we were still blown away by the flavours of the menu! Highly recommend the chargrilled starters on the lunch menu. Because we are greedy, we also ordered a couple of extra mains, which were delicious. Chilli paneer always good, and another dish you can't go wrong with is Nepalese pork with peppers (can't remember what this one is called officially!). We left absolutely stuffed, but very happy! The staff are also always so friendly and flexible and were so gracious about me asking questions and changing our arrangements. We'll be back for the next occasion!

Went with a group on Sunday 5th Feb,had an excellent meal and the group of people I went with also enjoyed the meal ,would gladly recommend, I had the king prawn dhansak that was great.

Took my family for a meal here yesterday. We were barely greeted as we entered and tables were so close you were sat on top of each other. Service was terrible, they allegedly only had one type of white wine (the most expensive) despite having multiple on the wine menu and saying yes to the different kind of wine I ordered. They then dropped the wine off at the table without telling us it was not the right one. Incorrect dishes kept being dropped at the table and drinks orders were ignored. When the food eventually came it did taste nice, or so we thought at the time. Fast forward 12 hours later and three out of five of us (so far) who haven’t eaten anything the same since have come down with the worst food poisoning we have ever had. We called the restaurant to which they said it’s not their problem or anything they can do as they only serve the food, the manager was not back for weeks and he may or may not call. The worst place to eat in Winchester by far.

I wish I could give 0 star. I have never reviewed any restaurant or anything till today but couldn’t stop myself from doing it for the first time. We wanted to have Nepalese food yesterday 15/02/023 so booked a table for 3 & went there, ordered the food. The food came around 18:35 which was pretty much alright with the timing. But as soon as we emptied our plates, a man which I feel is the owner (not sure though) cleared our table. In less than 5 minutes time, the same guy brought us our bill which we didn’t even ask for, as we were still drinking our beers. We paid the bill and when I said him we haven’t finished yet, he said the same table we were given is booked for 19:30. We were about to order next round of beers, but indirectly all he wanted was us to leave which we felt kind of rude. Being a Nepalese we came searching a Nepali restaurant when we were in Winchester and all he did was insult. When a table is reserved already then why to even give it to us? And we were not even walking customers, we also called & booked a table before coming. When I saw around still some of the tables were there without any guest. All I would like to say is if the restaurant wants to take a customer than non of the person will empty their table on the restaurant’s allocated specific time unless its the closing time. All he wanted was us to finish our food and wrap up so that they could sell the same table for other customers. Its the right of every customers to stay and spend some quality time with their friends and family as its a dine in restaurant not a FAST FOOD. It was my last evening in Winchester and before leaving back home I wanted to dine in but all he did was ruined our vibe and the evening. I would never in my life time suggest nepalese people to go to this restaurant as we felt its focused just for the English people. We had the most annoying evening there.NEVER COMING BACK.

Went for the lunch special - starter and main for £10.95. Quick service and beautiful food. Will definitely be going again when next in the area. Staff are very welcoming and pleasant as well. Highly recommend!

Tiny restaurant space, we were a party of 4 on a busy Saturday evening. It was cramped and very noisy, but the service was excellent and the food was even better. Had the chilli chicken starter, then tandoori prawns with garlic naan. All extremely delicious. I would totally recommend this restaurant.

Chose this great restaurant because of its good reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. Stayed veggie and away on business, so had vegetable biryani and takka dahl, with plane nan. They spiced it all up for me. The rice was delicious as they added thin strips of ginger. Service polite and quick

What great service, they were prepared to extend their lunchtime opening hours so we could have a meal. Then they delivered us excellent food. I would thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic. I called in advance to book for a group of 15, they took our orders in advance and were very organised. Despite the place being full to the brim, the service was spot on and drinks orders were quick and efficient. The food came out almost immediately and was all piping hot and cooked to perfection. All the serving staff were very friendly and helpful. They couldn't have done anything better!

A little gem. First impressions were that it was a little basic, decor, table setting etc however, when the food came, wow 🤩, it was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend a visit.

Walked in without a booking and thankfully they were able to accommodate us (party of 4). We had been out to the theatre and saw the opportunity for a bite to eat. Food was very nice and full of flavour with a nice spice about it. Service was quick considering we were the last order from the kitchen, but it was good. Our bill was under £70 for 4 adults with a drink each and we had enough food. Busy when we went in so this is an indication that it's a good place to eat

must try Kathmandu Beer 🍺 friendly staff and good Nepalese food. Chilli Chicken - Nepalese style perfectly balanced spices 👍🏻 Goat Curry - properly cooked and tenderised.

You can expect good quality food and service at 'Ghurka's Inn.' Excellent Nepalese dishes and a good choice of the more generic Indian fare. The sharing platters could be a little more generous, but that is the only criticism. This restaurant always appears to be busy, which speaks volumes.

This is such a fantastic restaurant. The staff are lovely, and well go out of their way to accommodate you. I am vegan and they always ensure that I have a great meal. Plus, there are some tasty dishes that you can't get many other places in Hampshire.

Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices and plenty of vegetarian options which can be either sides or mains. Most enjoyable evening, we will be back

The best indian food I have ever had. The lamb was absolutily delicious and the cheese and chilly naan was fabulous. I highly recommend it.

The Gurkhas Inn never comes short of expectations. Kids love Honey Muruk and my fav are spicy squid and Kathmandu lamb, poppadoms are always great starter and get you nicely ready for the mains heat

We visited Winchester and Gurkha's Inn on Aug. 10, 2022. We were amazed at the quality of the food, the decor and the gracious staff who took very good care of us.

Had to visit Winchester today and had the set lunch at the Gurkhas Inn and it was a very pleasant tasty meal and the lamb was really tender. Good value too. I was the only one in the restaurant at 1200 and service was timely and I was in and out within 30 mins that suited me great. I had the vegetable pakora and the lamb curry and rice (Khasi Koleda Bedo). Would definitely go back and try the a la carte menu as the flavours were good. The restaurant has a nice ambience with crisp white linen table cloths and red napkins and efficient service.

Always great food; traditional "English curries" alongside less familiar Nepalese cusine. Excellent service and good value for money. UPDATE: A year and several visits later, have upgraded from 4 to 5 stars. Consistently excellent food and service!
