Very disappointed, says will open ‘weather permitting’ at 0800, we arrived at 0940 on a bright spring morning, but Deck on the go not open, asked when they would open and told ‘not sure they were busy doing things’. Drove by 10 minutes later after getting coffee elsewhere and they were open. So our limited contact says they don’t care about customers and don’t need new trade.

Got to be one of the worst Indian meals in a long time, half tandoori chicken was so dry and aged looking. People were nice enough, I didn’t complain as don’t want to get into it, I was only visiting the area but definitely won’t be going back. Shane as nice little square…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently visited The Roebuck Inn with my partner for a special occasion—my birthday—and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We started with the Spiced Lamb Cutlet, which was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. For mains, we had the Specialty Lamb Madras and the Spiced Salmon, both of which were exquisite. Every bite was a delight! To make the evening even more memorable, the staff surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. The wine selection was excellent, and the service was truly brilliant—attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. The Roebuck is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough. Whether for a special occasion or just a great meal out, this is the place to go.

Went to The King’s Head in Wickham for lunch just before Christmas. We ordered our food, my husband’s lunch was ok, mine was terrible, I ordered fish finger’s sandwich with fries, the fish is more greasy batter, and look at the old lettuce. Everything’s so costly now, and with these prices one would expect better. We will not go there again, horrible.

Went here for the first time in 10 years. Food used to be excellent but didn’t return as I was chased down the road for only paying half the tip. Things haven’t changed, this time they tried to hide the service charge. When pointed out that the bill said service charge discretionary was advised it was old stationery !! Service poor. They reluctantly removed the charge when asked. Food dry and overcooked. Will not be returning.

Well, the Old Tea House appears permanently closed and the village has lost a great asset and social hub . For the last year, the venue has appeared extremely confused about what it wants to be and who it is catering for. Clearly its former customer base felt the same and have stayed away in their hordes. This has been a tea room for as long as I remember- I recall coming here as a child decades ago and I think it is a tragic loss to the village. It is a wonderful spot to sit outside and watch the world go by or to sit inside in inclement weather. The best thing the owner could do for the village is to sell or lease it to someone who wants to bring the soul back. Tragic.
