Very disappointed, says will open ‘weather permitting’ at 0800, we arrived at 0940 on a bright spring morning, but Deck on the go not open, asked when they would open and told ‘not sure they were busy doing things’. Drove by 10 minutes later after getting coffee elsewhere and they were open. So our limited contact says they don’t care about customers and don’t need new trade.

Took my dad in who visited from south Africa for what was supposed to be a nice pub experience but while I know we took some time for dad to see the beers there were being that he was unfamiliar, the lady behind the bar was rolled her eyes and saying "jesus christ" giving us a horrible reception and being extremely impatient, we ended up going to the kings head up the road instead where the service and atmosphere is way better.

Best around the area. Went in on recommendation. Dishes are all freshly made, with fresh ingredients. What we had (thali) tasted fantastic. Rather than being overwhelmed by strong flavours, you can taste the different spices in each dish, The naans were fresh and not too puffy. Even the chutney tray with poppadoms was fresh and delicious. A good variety of dishes - it is the best around.

I came in a had a panini and I am not happy for a number of reasons. I was greeted by a lovely lady with a welcoming smile. I ordered a panini on its own. Which came to me very quickly, however the bread was slightly burnt all over. In my first bite I pulled out a black curly hair from my mouth. Napkin that the cutlery was wrapped in was squashed against my panini leaving sauce everywhere making the napkin unusable. And as someone who doesn’t like a lot of cheese there are limited options available. As someone who is autistic the cutlery was uncomfortable to use as it was clearly from two different dining sets.

Visited on a Saturday night. The food was ok, not the best curry I’ve had. Was looking forward to trying some unique dishes. The Narangi Batakh was disappointing as the duck was quite tough and the sauce was not ‘korma’ as suggested. The Fish Malabar sea bass was also a bit overcooked so that wasn’t great. There was also confusion with what we ordered - we were told they were out of sea bass so we ordered another dish but then they brought the sea bass curry anyway. Also the chicken pakoras were not what I was expecting as they were just chicken chunks in a breaded coating like chicken nuggets. Anyway, the Goan Chicken and Assam Lamb dishes were nice and the Onion Bhajis were delicious. The service was ok, the waiter seemed a bit fed up and the atmosphere was dead. We were seated upstairs by ourselves with no music and just people walking in and out to find the bathroom… Probably won’t go back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently visited The Roebuck Inn with my partner for a special occasion—my birthday—and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We started with the Spiced Lamb Cutlet, which was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. For mains, we had the Specialty Lamb Madras and the Spiced Salmon, both of which were exquisite. Every bite was a delight! To make the evening even more memorable, the staff surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. The wine selection was excellent, and the service was truly brilliant—attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. The Roebuck is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough. Whether for a special occasion or just a great meal out, this is the place to go.

Lovely family meal, perfect for children. We love this place for a family meal because the food is good quality for what you pay for and represents excellent value . The food is really well cooked and our rather fussy children really enjoy it and eat everything served to them which is rare these days. £4.99 for a children’s meal, including a main with two sides and a generous dessert is incredible value. We don’t always like to take a risk going somewhere new as often the food can be wasted. With the red lion and we know what to expect we know the kids will eat what they’re given and everyone is happy. The only downside for me is that every time some food is ready for the service to collect from the kitchen you hear a very loud bell which can become a bit irritating. This is a very minor downside otherwise this place is excellent for a family dinner.

Well, the Old Tea House appears permanently closed and the village has lost a great asset and social hub . For the last year, the venue has appeared extremely confused about what it wants to be and who it is catering for. Clearly its former customer base felt the same and have stayed away in their hordes. This has been a tea room for as long as I remember- I recall coming here as a child decades ago and I think it is a tragic loss to the village. It is a wonderful spot to sit outside and watch the world go by or to sit inside in inclement weather. The best thing the owner could do for the village is to sell or lease it to someone who wants to bring the soul back. Tragic.
