Myself and family visited the Red Lion on Sunday the 28th /07/24 for a Sunday lunch and i am sad to report that the food was diabolical' everything was cold the meat I.e. Beef was just fat covered with gravy to disguise the contents. having talked to the young waitress who was polite kind and very professional who was very apologetic about the situation got it changed .on the second time around it wasn't any better. The Red Lion is a wonderful Pub and the people using it are like a big family-friendly a lot of superb characters and it has a wonderful atmosphere. Super Landlord and Landlady but the weaknesses are the time it takes to be served at the bar and I honestly think the pub requires a better and more efficient kitchen staff. (attention to detail is greatly required) The food must always be checked before serving it to good paying customers .

Although this was our latest visits all previous ones have been trouble free and enjoyable. We usually book a table although on most occasions it wouldn't have been necessary. The staff are always friendly and the food has no frills and is good value for money. A good local pub with good food.

Booked a table in the restaurant for my birthday and was told on booking that it was quiz night but not having been on a Tuesday night before this didn’t mean anything to me. Arrived at 7..30 pm the time the table was booked for and waited for nearly 10 minutes before being acknowledged by a lovely lady but unfortunately she was very stressed and I felt that we were an inconvenience for turning up on such a busy night. Did not feel comfortable with the way she was talking to us but was shown to a table and was told not to rush to decide what we wanted. Sat for ages at the table no one came over so went to order some drinks at the bar, again a long wait but overheard there was a wait of over an hour for food so took the decision to leave and got pizza from Domino’s to eat at home. On leaving the lady did come out to ask why we were leaving but by then that was too late. Very disappointed as the Red Lion is our new local having recently moved to the area.

My wife and I went for an evening meal to celebrate her birthday. It was fairly busy for a Wednesday evening with 2 large bookings and a number of other diners plus quite a few people in the bar area and outside, so I was surprised that there only appeared to be 2 members of staff to do the bar, take orders and service the tables. We booked quite early so the service that we received was pretty good but I would imagine that the 2 members of staff would be rushed off their feet later. The food was very good, my beef rib bourgignon was very tender and tasty with a lovely, rich sauce but the tender stem broccoli was over cooked and a bit chewy. My wife’s scampi and chips was very good with a decent portion of both and our puddings of cheesecake and crumble pie were very nice. All in all a pleasant evening at a reasonable price.

This place is under new management and it really shows. The staff were professional and friendly looking after our large group including several with mobility issues. They were efficient and helpful. The food was excellent as was the service and it was agreed that the Red Lion was now on our places to lunch list...and well spread the word

Staff very friendly and obliging, but food below par. We ordered roast beef meals and the roast potatoes were like hard little bullets and impossible to eat. Would return for drinks and general ambience of the pub, but won't eat there again.

What lovely staff in this pub. Matt especially went out of his way to help us secure a table on a busy Friday night as most of them reserved. He went over and beyond for myself and sister. Aiden at the bar was also very friendly. Matt usually works elsewhere but drafted in as manager away. Keep up the good work. Very polite person.

As usual - Very tasty food with excellent and very friendly service, pleasant atmosphere and very reasonably priced - especially wine.

I would definitely highly recommend The Red Lion Stubbington. Since Rich and Sonia have taken over the pub, they have both made the Red Lion a warm welcoming dog friendly pub, they serve beautifully cooked food. Well done to both of you and your staff for making this a popular friendly place once more to go with the family and friends.

Great night but what made our night was jess could not do enough for us. Food was spot on three of us had lamb shank but wife really enjoyed katsu chicken ,but would leave out the hot chillies. Great food Great atmosphere. My only bit is replace the brocoli stalkes with brocoli pieces .stalkes bit hard and chewe. Thank you jess.

Food has improved for the better. Rich and Sonia are great hosts who always make you feel welcome. Staff are pleasant and the pub as a whole is significantly cleaner.

Granddaughter 1 enjoyed the ultimate burger to the extent that it was the “ best she’d ever tasted.” The combination of flavours was unique and “ breathtaking “ Granddaughter 2 loved her burger but not too enamoured about the chocolate brownie. Hotel was great. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Would happily stay there again.

Great pub, friendly staff and warm, friendly environment. The food has been disappointing on recent visits. Although basically it's ok pub grub, it's nothing particularly special and I don't like the white dishes with the blue rim. They remind me of guide camp! Looks awful.
