Excellent dog friendly pub serving a delicious breakfast. Very friendly and welcoming. Good place to stop for a proper full English after getting off ferry. Highly recommend.

Very cozy traditional pub. We had Square Cow Beef Burgers and they were so tasty!! I also ordered onion rings as an extra - and these were freshly battered! Really enjoyed our meal here, and we will be definitely coming back for more! 😋❤️

Saturday afternoon with Xmas fair outside. Lovely and warm inside with the fire on thebgo. Friendly staff. We just had a round of drinks. Will visit again.

The most beautiful meal, top class chef, obviously, and it showed in his cooking and his display. The steak and ale pie, is the best I have ever tasted, with vegetables booked to perfection The apple and blackcurrant crumble, again, cooked to a perfection, the best ever. Staff professional, and friendly. First time there, will be going again soon.

Last minute decision to pop out for a bite to eat. We had never tried the Square Cow before but are very glad that we did. Good food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back to sample breakfast some time.

If you are looking for a great village pub then this is surely one not to be missed. Wonderful staff, the kind lady who served us made sure that we had food and drink. This is a dog friendly pub as well which is wonderful. Food was reasonably priced, served quite quickly, and taste as a pub food would. The atmosphere is also note worthy if you're similar to me and enjoy the cosy dark wooden pubs.

The BEST roast dinner I’ve ever eaten! The chef has mastered his art. Service was perfect too. The Square Cow is a real gem.

Always a warm welcome, so cozy with the log fire on the go, busy with Sunday Roasts, great pub. 'October 2024' 'December 2022' - Great Pub with Friendly staff and excellent food, New Year's Eve was an excellent night, great band and atmosphere. Frank and the team did an excellent job making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a 3 course meal and the food was top notch. 👌 always a great place, now it's the local as its a great atmosphere 👍

Very nice place and food good. A tad slow on plate clearing and drinks refresh but to be fair it didn't detract from a good lunch and nice atmosphere.

We were a fairly large table (7) and they placed us upstairs which felt a little soulless but service was good as was the food.

I had full English breakfast that was served to me really well. The staff were friendly. I liked the set up including the outdoor seating space. There was plenty of parking space. It was a lovely Sunday morning!

myself and two other people visited this pub yesterday visited many times with no problems, we were sitting the on ground floor having a drink when one of the other people said what that smell I then said it smells like urine I looks up and noted that we were seated by then mens toilets and the door was not shut properly so may i suggest that you make the necessary adjustment, Thankyou.

Cheeses chips were good but haloumi fries were really really awful Diet Coke is good.

Ordered breakfasts that never came. When we approached the bar they said they would refund us as they hadn't even started our breakfast. They said they were really busy but the table across from our had number 25 and we were 24 and they got their breakfasts. We also looked around and there were 2 tables outside and no one sat downstairs. They were apologetic and refunded our money. We overheard another table saying they waited 1.5 hours and still didn't jave their food.

Three and myself have breakfast at The Square Cow every two weeks. Today we arrived at 8.30 but it was not open we waited but no-one opened up. sitting on the chair outside was a guy who said he was the chef but he did not know why it was not open. Every time we have breakfast the food was excellent, the staff friendly but professional, the atmosphere great. I do hope this was a one time incident.

Called for vegetarian breakfast whilst at Wickham festival this year. I was totally blown away by the service and food. It was great to see the pub so busy at that time in the morning. I had a look around the upper floor and found some beautifully preserved,painted plasterwork behind clear plastic shields. The whole building was like going back through time, even down to the small rooms and rear beer garden. I wasn’t able to try the beer on offer, but it looked very appealing. A must see when passing through the area.

It was a decent pub with nice outdoor seating. Some real ale but not a brewery that does a beer I really like. I'd be happy to stop by again for a pint.

We've visited The Square Cow a couple of times now, and it's been a lovely welcoming experience both times. So far we've only had tea/coffee, but we will definitely have a meal the next time we're in the area.

Highly recommend The Square Cow, Wickham Square - we, Sean and Teresa, had our wedding breakfast there on 29th June 2024, and we had sole use of the upstairs room, the private garden and a w.c. The food was superb - a plentiful buffet with a huge variety of dishes; the staff were attentive, accommodating and friendly, without being intrusive. The chef was also able to provide delicious gluten-free food for a couple of our guests, without any advance notice - impressive!

Have certainly upped their game. Beer kept much better and on this occasion superior Beer on offer. Well done to the Square Cow.

If you like terrible food and service without a smile - this is the place to go. P.s. if you like your taste buds - don’t get the meatball sandwich. 🤢🤮

Lovely impromptu lunch by the fire today after a long walk with our dog. Staff were super friendly and welcoming despite us not having a booking. Food was good including gluten free fish and chips. Would come again. Corona precautions were good. April 2024 Visited again today after three years. Same friendly welcome for us and our dog. GF bread available for sandwiches. We left happy once again.

Very loud on a Saturday with live music which made it difficult to have a meal and a conversation!

Dreadful service, had to ask 3 times for a glass of coke. Chicken burger was dry as a bone and my friend finally received her dish 25 .minutes after the rest of us which wasn't as stated on the menu, it was more like a large salad instead of a poke bowl. The family near us also had meals arriving late/missing. You couldn't say they were understaffed so no idea what was going on.

Popped in here whilst doing a bit of shopping in Wickham. Very friendly welcome, good service and lovely food. Will be happy to return.

Popped in on a Monday morning for a coffee and ended up having a bit of breakfast as well. It’s not the cheapest place for breakfast but our food was prepared very nicely, poached eggs perfect. Coffee was excellent — not the burnt bean taste you get in your typical high street coffee chains. So thumbs up.

Pleasant pub with good beer from a local brewery

Came down from Yorkshire to stay with my sister for a few days. Visited the Square Cow. 4 of us had the steak and ale pie. Superb. One of us had the mussels. We were all envious. Had a chat to the chef Shaun and he said to let him know next down we were visiting and he would try to make sure he had enough mussels for us . What a great chef. Thanks Shaun we. Will definitely be back.

Cute pub with nice atmosphere. Had lunch here with the girls. Not sure I would come back for food. Ordered pie which lacked filling and came with very limited amount of vegetables on the side. I do not feel it was worth the price. Would be. Nice pub to pop in for a drink though.

Excellent food and service, we both chose off the special board, we asked if we could meet there chef as they quite often don't get the credit they deserve, he came out and sat chatting to us about the food there, seemed like he was really passionate about his food. Will definitely be back.

I visited with my mum tonight for an evening meal and had rang and reserved a table. We also were able to take our little dog which was great. We were served by Laura and Danny and they were very attentive throughout and always checked if we need anything extra through out. I had the chilli off the specials which was HUGE but also delicious. My mum the Sea bass which was also on the specials and she said the fish was superb. Thank you to everyone we will be back.

We booked a table for 5 with an autistic 8 year old. Despite being early our table had been given to another party. We were shown upstairs and given a table for 4 so they stuck a chair on the end. Totally inappropriate and unsafe By now m granddaughter was in tears. We left. It seems they take bookings despite not having the tables available. It was a special family celebration. They didn’t care. Too busy My advice don’t plan a Sunday lunchtime. Your booking may not be honoured

Lovely atmosoheric, well run pub. Two main eating areas, quiet reflection area, and a more generous atmosoheric eating bar area with ground and upper floor. Reasonable prices. Toilet in pub. Pub is situated in the beautiful Wickham viIllage square. Large low-cost public parking in town square, right outside!. Lovely interesting shops, and walks. Ideal for families and meeting up with your friends.

Beautiful scone well presented they just looked to great to be left , pic doesn’t do it justice.such a great place to come .Liam makes the best pina colada’s ! You need to try there cocktails, they all a great bunch very proud to have them in our village 🥰

What a beautiful meal: pie followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding. Met the lovely Frank who owns the pub, a real character and was introduced to the lovely sous chef who cooked the amazing pudding! Just gorgeous! Well worth the calories.. Superb atmosphere....it was our first time but it definitely won't be our last! Absolutely 5 star!!!

Wow best roast ever, obviously very busy so waited a little, the main pub area is quirky but sadly room to the right as you come in lacks the same feel

Went here 29th December. The pasta dish was amazing. Service was perfect and was such a lovely pub. Highly recommended.

As always we had a fantastic night at the characterful Square Cow on NYE. Frank and Trish create a truly welcoming atmosphere and the food was delicious. Add a live singer to the mix and the place was absolutely rocking! So nice to see all the locals “out out” and partying with new faces. Would highly recommend this pub.

Had lunch here today and really enjoyed the experience here,the venue was clean and well presented and the was a table available even though we had not booked,we were greated as soon as we entered and the staff were brilliant,I would highly recommend this pub for a meal and or a drink.

Visited for lunch with my husband and our dog after a walk in Wickham and will definitely visit again. The food was very good, all cooked fresh to order with quality ingredients used. The service was also excellent, with very friendly helpful staff. I would recommend to anyone looking to visit.

I had a late breakfast here with friends. We arrived just as breakfast finished but they were very accommodating & let us order off the breakfast menu. The full English was freshly cooked, delicious & filling. The coffee is as good as advertised too 🙂. The pub is old but beautiful, the staff friendly & service excellent. I'll definitely be going back.

4 generations of our family turned up and we could see reservation on all the tables but the staff were brilliant, we sat in the garden and had a fantastic meal with excellent service and we were able to take our dog, we absolutely loved it

All staff amazing,they went the extra mile to please everyone who walk through the door, there was nothing they wouldn't do for you. The food is great and worth every penny. It was great that you could walk in to a place and every one got on with each other.its well worth another visit. We give all our thanks to all staff that made us feel welcome, and we will definitely be arranging another visit.
