I really enjoy this pub. Their food is not only top notch but surprisingly reasonable! Service and friendliness of staff is a big plus and I just like pub's vibe. Been here several times and never been disappointed.

New Local. Good place with friendly people and a bit of a buzz

We both chose the fish & chips from the menu, and we were not disappointed: the fish was tasty, the batter lovely and crisp, and the chips just as good. The March Hare is very much a "local", catering for those who live locally. They have Sky Sports on the TV, a pool table too, and any background music is quiet, letting you hear what others are saying. There was a family there playing dominos together too. Under new management as of last August, the place has been 'spruced up', and has a pleasant contemporary feel to it. It was quiet when we were there, and had a nice chat with one of the staff, who explained that the pub is one in a small group of 3 or 4 in the area (Hursley / Colden Common). If you've not been there for a while, why not give it another try?

Very nice staff and food! Everything came out quick!

We booked a table for six as it was my husband birthday. When they took our order because my husband did not want the meat . We asked if we could have sausage roast, and she came back and said no . We also had to get a knife for our dinner as there were only forks on the table . Was not asked about dessert? Took a long time to clear the table, and we had to find someone to pay the bill. The food was also not the best , beef was hard, and Yorkshire pudding was hard . Could have had a gravy boat

An impromptu night out at our local. First time in the new dining room, which is very cosy. We enjoyed the food (Shared starter and mains) and the wine very much, including the Lasagne. The only slight let down was the Piecarumba steak pies had run out! A sign of how well liked they are I guess. We were very well looked after and will be back for a pie :-)

Great pub, it really has had a new lease of life! Ria and the team are wonderful!

Six of us went for a meal. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. And the service and staff were first class. It’s our local and I’m ashamed to say we’ve not really discovered it before, but we’re regulars now!

First time visiting today, a group of 6. Food was perfect, hot, and tasty. The service was amazing, they couldn’t do anymore for us. Wait time wasn’t long and we all got our food at the same time. We will most defo be back.

New owners to start food again in a few months.

We went as a group of 9 and were told as a large party over 6 we might get our meals at different times. Even though we had not booked all our meals were served hot and all together. Service was lovely and the food was delicious. The eating area was very comfortable. We will be back again and as it is local no need to go by car. Win Win

Recently refurbed very nice. Staff really friendly even the chef stopped for a chat. My husband had a roast and said it was one of the best he has ever had. I had scampi and really nice and home cooked no ping ping here. Will be back. Nice to have somewhere in Winchester with decent home cooked grub. Thank you.

Had a lovely Sunday roast with family. Food was amazing staff friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for good valued superbly cooked food in this recently refurbished pub. Plan to go back soon to try out more from the menu!

This pub has really had a new lease of life added to it with the new owners and staff. We were welcomed into the new seating area which the decor is modern and vibrant. The menu was a small fracture of the main menu, which I had the chicken wings for starters and the beyond nature for the main and my family had the fish and chips and the OG burger. All were cooked to perfection and the flavour was second to none which was good value for money and leaving you full. I would highly recommend a visit and look forward to the full menu.

First time we’ve visited since it’s had a makeover. It was quiet as was mo day lunchtime but the lovely lady Sandy was very welcoming and showed us to a quiet area to our table. There is a smaller menu for lunch at the moment but still a good choice . We had the steak and Ale pie which was very nice and piping hot. Friendly and clean

Fantastic Sunday Lunch thoroughly enjoyed by the whole group. We chose one of each roast on offer and were all equally delighted. We would have stayed longer but the next party had arrived so we had to vacate.

Very friendly and comfortable local pub. Good value and always busy for a Sunday lunch so best to book.

My family and I all met for lunch , and we all had different meals from sandwiches ,burger ,scampi, main courses of salmon and meat pie ,We had to wait for it to be freshly cooked but it was so worth it . Everything tasted so yummy. I wish I lived locally because I would definitely become a regular diner . My thanks to all the staff for a lovely meal 🤗

I’m not sure quite what has gone wrong with this so called ‘family’ pub but I’ve refused to go in there now. The foul language used by much of the clientele is disgraceful. Walking past the pub to get to the shop with my daughter usually results in hearing drunk men and women swearing continuously and the pub staff seem completely oblivious to it. This is NOT a family pub. If you have children, stay away.

Great second bar with screens for sport and good atmosphere. Friendly staff and a decent selection of drinks.

Sunday carvery is ok and everything else is great, especially desserts. Also a great place to have a pint and mingle.

Expensive local pub that serves food

Popped in to watch football... Service was quick and attentive and with a smile .. Great selection of beers.... Didn't have any food, but saw enough food coming out to people, to suggest that it's good grub !!

Great food. My dad had small sausage and mash and he thought it was really tasty. I had the burger which was very yummy. I had fruit crumble for dessert.

This an old school new pub. Built to service the local housing estate which do an excellent job in the community. We had an excellent Sunday roast served by a knowledgeable chef who was very happy and helpful. The bar staff were also very attentive pandering to our requests for liquid refreshment and feeding our friends dog, Sonny, with snacks and titbits. One can get either a small or large roast depending if your eyes are bigger than your belly and also cost.

Food was below average with over an hour wait for 4 cheese burgers. Chips had been cooked in old oil and the taste wasn’t pleasant. Overall lovely pub for a drink, staff were excellent and couldn’t be more helpful, however the chef really lets the place down, more than happy to return for a drink but wouldn’t eat here again.

Visited with family for Sunday lunch. Had the carvery which was excellent. Meat was tender and plentiful with lots of veggies to help yourself to. Very friendly and welcoming staff . Will return again 👍

Visited for a Sad reason. The owner, bar, and kitchen staff were all amazing, helpful, kind, humorous and most of all went out of their way to make all our party feel welcome and relaxed.

What a lovely friendly pub. Food was reasonably priced as was drinks. Very nice staff and a nice little touch of games on the tables which kept us occupied while food was being prepared 😀

I really wanted to like this pub. I went in for a drink with my daughter after a long bike ride. The barmaid was far more interested in getting a kitkat chocolate bar from an inibriated gentlemen than serving costomers. I asked twice to add something to our order but she was far to pre occupied with kitkat chunky. We will not be back.

They serve large and a smaller meal. Ideal for people, like me, who don't want a meal where only half is eaten.

Came for a family meal from Cornwall. My cousin paid for 6 of us and I felt embarrassed for him. Didn't want to embarras him. But my partner and I had fish and chips probably the worst we have ever had. My aunt wasn't impressed with her liver either. She said it was over cooked and like eating boots. No need to come again it was a one off

First time there in many years and our time there was outstanding , it was my sons 21st and he wanted to in there for some celebration drink wiv me , the wife and his 20 year old brother , from start to finish we were given A star customer service, our whole experience was great and the staff totally went out of there way to show us a good time and we were treated like royalty , would totally recommend whether ur a local or a visitor to our lovely city , from anything from a quick pint to an amazingly beautiful full meal u will not be disappointed, great pub and perfect staff I cannot praise this establishment enough , definitely worth a visit by anyone , well done to all involved in the running of what I would call a perfect English pub and restaurant I can't find a negative thing to say about winchesters great pub called the "march hare" , thank u for making us feel so welcome 😀

A local late 20th century built pub in the Winchester suburb of Harestock. It has a big car park and is the terminus of the frequent No 3 bus route from Winchester centre. Spacious nicely maintained bars and a big outdoor area. Good value nicely cooked food. Menu is pub grub with interesting diversions into European and Asian dishes. A reasonable selection of beers including real ale. Very pleasant service. A well-run and welcoming pub.

Mum has moved recently and this is now her local. Took advantage of the government eat out to help out scheme. Never eaten here before but will definitely eat here again. I had liver and bacon with mash and seasonal vegetables and mum had fish and chips with peas. Both of our meals were lovely and perfectly cooked

It was fine. This was my first ever visit. They have three real ales on sale and the bar chap was friendly enough. Bearing in mind that my visit was in the lull between Christmas and New year they were doing ok. I'll certainly call in again.

Relaxed lunch in a slightly run down pub. The waiting staff were lovely and food was absolutely fine.

Good food, good service and a reasonable price. The granddaughters both enjoyed their choice from the children's menu and I tucked into the sausage, mash and onion gravy, and there was plenty of it! We will be returning soon.
