Beautiful place for drinks or brunch

The setting and atmosphere is incredible. I’m sure that some of the tables designs won’t be to everyone’s liking. The coffee (with oat milk) has been one of the best I’ve tasted beating the like of micro roasters and niche independents. The food was well cooked and tasted fantastic focusing more on the quality of the ingredients rather than quantity. If you’re in Winchester for the weekend I would thoroughly recommend!

Had a delicious brunch, the amazing owner and his staff squeezed us in with 2 prams which was so kind. The service was great, food do tasty and decor was beautiful. Thanks so much will be back soon!

Had a lovely quick lunch here yesterday. The food was delicious and good value. The staff were super friendly and efficient. We spoke to Jon the guy who runs the show who was so lovely and you can really tell he's passionate about his business. Makes such a difference going to an independent place to eat.

Not baby friendly at all. You’re looked down at, made to feel uncomfortable and rushed out the door. Rude staff. Been twice for brunch with a friend and exact same experience both times, definitely not a nice place for brunch as new mummy.

Rude. Essentially refused to serve us as it seems our son was with us. As others have said they appear to have a unwritten no child/pram policy. Tables were available and the waitress said that it would be a few minutes wait as she was clearing and would then seat us. She didn’t come back. A man who appeared to be the manager then arrived and told us there were no tables available, despite that obviously not being the case. This was late morning on a weekday. I explained the waitress had said she would seat us in a few minutes and he told me that was not the case, I was wrong and she hadn’t said that. He actively manoeuvred us to the door. We eat out a lot and our son is quiet and we have never been treated like this anywhere. We will not go back. However, we have eaten in their Salisbury branch and they could not have been nicer.

We stopped here for lunch during our stay in Winchester. We didn't need to wait long for a table and we sat outside as it was a nice day. We both had toasted sandwiches. I had bacon, brie and cranberry and my husband had tuna melt. They were served with a salad with a lovely mint dressing and some crisps. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Really nice meals, mostly based around ciabata and breakfast. Efficient and friendly service. Tea pots are nice but tiny. The toilets are clean but small and dark so baby changing is a huge challenge.

Came here around 11.30/12 and seated immediately and brought a bottle of water. We ordered the toasted paninis (tuna melt and bacon, brie & cranberry), both delicious and just right with crisps and salad (lovely pesto dressing!). Seemed a tad slow for the sandwiches to come out, but otherwise a lovely lunch!

My sister and I went here for brunch on Sunday and it was delicious! So glad we chose it. The staff were super friendly and it's really pretty inside too. Plus points for lots of vegetarian options! I had the Mediterranean avocado on toast and it's probably the best brunch I've ever had

What a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee in the sun in the morning. The staff were also fantastic and made it feel great stopping there. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

I always enjoy a visit to The Orangery in Winchester. The food is always delicious, and I would highly recommend their Meze Plate, it’s packed full of flavour. The coffee is also fantastic too. Nothing beats sitting in their window seats watching the world go by whilst enjoying some great food. The service is always friendly and attentive too.

I popped along for a takeaway drink one morning and was greeted at the little takeaway hatch by a super friendly lady called Bimala (I asked for her name afterwards as I wanted to mention her here). I asked if they did smoothies and she was happy to talk me through the menu and take my order even though it was quite busy. She served me a lovely fresh coconut and blueberry smoothie. When I asked for her name, she also asked for mine, you don't often get that! Great service goes a long way and, even though I cannot comment on the food, based on the service alone I will be coming back to sample the menu!

What a wonderful experience I had this morning. Sitting in the sun being served the best vegan breakfast by a polite and efficient gentleman. The coffee art was also truly amazing 💖

A wonderful brunch spot! Everything was amazing from the service to the food to the interior of this beautiful restaurant. We had a great time and enjoyed everything we ordered. My personal favourite was the tuna melt!

I highly recommend trying the calamari at this place! We had a wonderful time enjoying Aperol Spritz and sharing a plate of calamari as an afternoon tapa. As an avid Aperol lover, I was thrilled with how perfectly it was prepared, and the calamari tasted just as delicious as it does in Spain. Being here makes me feel at home. The only downside was that they didn't offer any individual main course options for dinner, only sharing plates. Love this place, the food is really delicious, really great brunch food, really cute place, I love the atmosphere, the staff are always really friendly. The Turkish flatbread is great and they do a good range of veggie options too. And the salted caramel espresso martini is sooo good, definitely worth a visit.

Best customer experience I’ve had in a cafe for a long time, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Both the drinks and food tasted amazing, my sister had a cappuccino and I had an iced latte, she had the lamb flat bread and I had the spiced cauliflower soup. We loved the overall atmosphere and thought it was very reasonably priced for the quality. Will definitely return, fantastic experience.

The Orangery is really well run by people who clearly take pride in what they do. The food is delicious with little touches of elegance and brilliance. The choice of coffee and teas was excellent; the latter served with tenshi cast iron teapots, and the former with great flourish. Super all round and very well located

Great service and lovely staff but really average food and overpriced. Everything was just a bit dry - the Turkish mince didn’t have much taste either unfortunately.

Cute, cozy little place for a fantastic breakfast. We both had the Waffles Eggs Benedict. It was wonderful. Such a unique dish. The service was efficient. One of the best breakfasts we've had and look forward to returning.

A great brunch location! I think I had one of the best hot chocolates here and the music just complements the atmosphere beautifully. The staff was so welcoming and attentive. I recommend bringing your friends on a nice date here!

Very warm, welcoming and friendly place. It has a diverse menu with good vegetarian and vegan options. Despite it being very busy, waiting times for food is very normal. Whilst waiting in the queue staff members talk to you several times assuring you that your table is almost ready. They are not stressed and still can smile! Comparing this to all other options in Winchester, I choose this place every time. In the surrounding coffee shops you have to wait in a queue whilst staff members are annoyed that you are in the way. Other coffee shops have their doors always open as if it is summer and most have no table service and their menu options are either too much or too little. In Orangery, the doors are shut so inside is warm. Their menu has so many options. You can have a big meal if you like, if not there is a big variety of light lunches such as avocado or egg on sourdough. I paid £13.50 for my full vegan breakfast and plus 2 Americano and 10% service charge was £22. This was very good value for me with the service I received. For many times I skipped past this place because I found their decoration (artificial plants--too much of it!) very off--putting. From outside it looks like an expansive and alcoholic place! But inside it is a warm coffee shop with internet--like the big chain coffee shops only with better food and service. I would strongly recommend this place--just ignore the decoration :))

Came here for Sunday breakfast after the Winchester 10k run, arrived at just before 10am and they were able to find a table for two, despite having not booked. Lovely place for brunch, attentive wait staff, tasty food.

Food is okay but you have to wait. No pushchairs allowed. No baby change facilities. 1 staff member was obviously having a bad day which clearly showed in her attitude to customer service and suggested using the floor of the adult toilets to change our child's nappy. No apologies from the general manager. Definitely won't be going again.

Beautiful little spot, hidden away but well worth finding. Amazing food. A little cramped, but they've done the best with the space they have.

We really liked the variety of the brunch menu and what we had didn't disappoint. The quality of the food is high and a lot of attention goes into the ingredients and presentation. The staff were lovely and the service was seamless.

A bustling and lively little cafe with exceptionally good service and great food. Arrived at lunch for a small wait whilst a table became free (we had our dog, so couldn't be seated upstairs). The server was very friendly and helpful and provided water to us whilst we waited. I had a sausage and caramelised onion ciabatta and my wife had the soup of the day. The food was quick and piping hot. Sausages were of a very good quality and all told the lunch was very tasty. Will certainly be going back here.

Very rude staff, especially for a place that doesn’t take bookings. Although it was busy I had barely got in the door and said “can you take…” before an incredibly rude man just shook his head and ushered us out the door. The entrance seems to be weirdly set up to stop pram access with heavy plant pots placed very close together and appears that as soon as the staff member seen the pram he wanted us out. Won’t be back.

After a weekend in Winchester we visited The Orangery for a breakfast before setting off back home . Great atmosphere and very good quality food . Extremely attentive staff made our experience one to remember. I had the Turkish for breakfast which was a great change an English breakfast. The eggs were poached perfectly. Highly recommended when in Winchester.

I can't tell you how good this place is... But I'm gonna. I had some Turkish food my daughter something else. The food was exquisite. The service was out if this world with the back drop of Winchester. Then the bill, it was superb. My favourite food place.

Very welcoming, but very busy and had to wait a considerable time for food. Ordered 2 x Orangery breakfasts but were disappointed!! the bacon was really hard, the baked beans were cold and had some kind of salsa in with them, just one sausage 2 nicely poached eggs on sourdough bread, vine toms and mushrooms. Quite pricey for what you got for £12.95 each.

Always a joy to come here. We've been here to meals and sometimes cocktails only (like getting a great window seat at Hat Fair this year with cocktails!). Came in on Saturday for a lunch of waffles, bacon and maple syrup and pot of tea. Super treat for my birthday! Also just like to say the atmosphere is great, the staff cheerful and helpful (like telling you how long it may take before your meal arrives) and the interior decor is so imaginative!

Great place for brunch. Excellent service, indoor and outdoor seating available and some great veggie choices too. The smoothies are absolutely delicious. Only fly in the ointment is that they need to update the menu as one dish was no longer available. Overall really worth trying if you're in Winchester and want to stop near the Cathedral.

They said we need to wait 40 mins because the reason we are 4. But they let in lots of 2 people in the same. It is not reasonable. All people goes there couples ? So change the name the couples coffee.

Had lunch after visiting the cathedral. First I commented on an unusually good flat white. Then when the food came, we both commented on the attention to detail that made our brunch-y meals so good. Perfectly poached eggs. Avocado that wasn't cold from the fridge. Knives that can tackle sourdough toast. And it was delicious. Our only small gripe was the lack of a kids' menu. I don't want a "fish fingers and chicken nuggets" kids' menu, but an option for half-price half portions would be appreciated.

Went there after reading the online menu which looked lovely. However, on arrival the menu was completely different and didn’t have anything suitable due to dietary requirements so has to leave and eat elsewhere. Not ideal.

Very disappointing experience. We attempted to visit with my son on a Tuesday (not a busy day) - we got our buggy in to then find ourselves treated like we'd just walked into a private party. There was at least 3 available tables in view and upon asking the young girl serving looked at us blankly and said there's no room for the pram (and as a result for us) and proceeded to stare at us like we should leave. There was plenty of room for us AND pram including outside which was empty and I joked about leaving the pram outside so we could sit in - she continued to stare blankly. We then turned around to leave and carry the pram out and as we did another member of staff came over. We hoped she'd come to apologise for how blunt her colleague had been, but she simply asked us if we need help with the pram on the way out. Felt weirdly prejudiced and didn't appreciate the way they made us feel at all. Had space have truly been an issue it could still have been dealt with in much more considerate and customer service first way. Avoid if you have children or any cumbersome items with you.

Not as good as it used to be. I’ve probably been here 6-8 times, starting from when they first opened. Used to be excellent but seems to have dropped in quality lately. Recent breakfast was dry, poached eggs were completely hard boiled and the food was luke warm at best. Coffee menu has shrunk, they used to offer a trio of coffee and a Chemex and now offer neither. Always busy, but this has clearly resulted in a drop in quality which is such a shame.

Lovely place for brunch x very friendly and accommodating members of staff. Good choice of breakfast and brunch items. Lots of teas, coffees, milkshakes and smoothies. It gets very busy and you are unable to book, so you need to arrive early to secure a table. Will definitely come back again. Definitely recommend the Turkish brunch.

A delightful restaurant set in an old building, access is difficult and the need to squeeze in tables spread over a few levels made it awkward with a pram. But the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious and well presented.

We didn't have food here unfortunately as it looks amazing, just a quick drink stop. We sat outside, the service was good and my partner said he'd never tasted such a creamy cappucino before! The smoothies are also excellent.

We stumbled across this spot for brunch over the Easter holidays. Service with a smile and once of the best tasting and beautiful looking breakfasts we’ve had. My Full English (with additional side of avocado) was top quality, and their eggs are a masterclass in poaching. Highly recommend.

Wow wow wow. Great choice of food for brunch. Vegans, gluten free, vegetarians, meat eaters...all catered for. Looked and tasted wonderful. Would eat there every day if I could! Place also looks amazing. Only negative was that the tea comes in a tiny pot...when for breakfast and lunch you need nice bigs pots of tea.

We found a hidden gem today. The Winchester Orangery is absolutely amazing. We had breakfast and a nice cappuccino, but can easily say that this was the best ever cappuccino I had in England. The food was delicious also the plate was eye catching and if I wasn’t already hungry just the look of the plate would of made me hungry. Very friendly staff members and a pleasant ambiance inside. Will be definitely back to have some more of that cappuccino and to try out the rest of the menu. ☕😋😁

Perfect coffee and great cups of tea just to the edge of the Cathedral Green. Family had bacon and tomato relish panini's which came with a light slaw and roasted cherry tomatoes on the side... which I am told was delicious. Wait staff friendly and polite.

Food and service excellent....travelled from Bournemouth following a trip to the Orangery Salisbury on a weekend a few weeks ago (excellent by the way) where we enjoyed brunch. The Orangery Winchester was really busy but staff managed to fund us a table quickly....sorry for the 4 star rating but the toilets were not good ! Back of house needs to be as good as front of house no matter how busy. What I would say is that you could not fault the service or quality of the food...Great menu, good atmosphere so well done. Friendly attentive staff, good coffee, quick service, the food came out surprisingly quickly. £32 for 4 coffees and 2 large breakfasts in the middle of Winchester looking out at the cathedral... Just got to hope the Russians don't find out how nice it is.

I have always loved to visit Winchester Orangery as I have seen good reviews/post about it. It was our first time in Winchester yesterday and would really love to dine there. We are 6- a family of 3, a couple and a friend. I understand, we were initially told that they can’t provide seats for the whole group so agreed to wait for tables for 2. we were already seated when the other table near us became empty. Since one of our friends were seated on the other side, and since we’ve got a child with us, Seating too far from each other won’t be a “happy” dine-in experience. Asked one of the waiters if we can sit there and he said yes and will ask if he can merge the two tables. To make the long story short, we sat right next to each other but the lady who worked there became furious as “they have a system” being followed and refused to merge the tables as she said “we agreed to wait for tables good for two persons only”. If you are reading this, I’d like to ask you, “If you are on our shoe, would you leave one of your friends eating alone on the other side even if you already know that there’s a vacant table near you?” I APOLOGIZED but She kept on moaning while taking the plates left by the previous owner and was “banging” (don’t know which exact word to use) the salt and pepper mills on the table. Instead of excitedly waiting for the food to be served, I felt extremely bad! I never had the time to make reviews especially bad ones but that just doesnt feel right. It was awful. It was rude. Not what I expected. Outrightly POOR customer service!
