The best restaurants in Vale of White Horse South East

Great place, food (baguettes) was excellent for a lunch. Biggest chips I’d ever had - basically wedges, and they were very good. It was mid December weekday lunch time and the place was very busy with Christmas groups.

Lovely food each time we've been. Pizza is great. Steak was fantastic.

No vegan options beside a side salad, which for a chain hotel and restaurant is astonishingly poor.

It would be nice if they keep people up to date on when the food will be delivered

20 or so dog walking enthusiasts gathered at the Spread Eagle to enjoy a festive feast. As there were so many of us we pre-ordered our lunch. Some chose the Christmas fare whilst others ordered from the “normal “ menu which includes kangaroo! The meals were served on a timely fashion by the cheerful team who were having a very busy day with another large group also lunching. All the meals were good, hot and tasty. The pub was very well decorated and it was a very festive occasion. Well done “the Spread”!

Amazing visit, wonderful staff who could not do enough for us, food and drinks were amazing, the venue was perfect to celebrate our daughter’s 1st birthday. Cannot recommend this place enough! Will be the first of many visits.

I stopped off there while on a two-hour journey from work. Most of the people there had booked tables for Christmas, and I was just there to grab a bite to eat, but the staff were so welcoming! The food was outstanding - just a burger with chips & salad plus a side order of onion rings, but everything was made to perfection. The price was very reasonable, and I hope to go again if given the opportunity.

I like the place but quite disappointed because most items on the menu were not available.

I chose the Red Lion randomly as a venue to meet friends halfway between both our homes and what a good choice it was! A warm welcome on a grey damp Tuesday and although the pub wasn’t busy, there was a very nice atmosphere created by the staff and a few jolly locals (?) at the bar! The food was great and the service was excellent.

Exceptional Sunday roast. Plenty of hot freshly cooked food and no long wait. Yorkshire puddings spectacular. Great cauli cheese and freshly cooked veg. Good to be offered extra if wanted but portions were good. Friendly helpful staff

After getting court short on a Boxing Day outing, we were very impressed at the lovely warm welcome and great pub food. We can recommend the baked Camembert and Ham Egg and chips. The ale is also great, and a final recommendation for the lovely landlady, who made us very welcome on a busy boxing day.

Their food tastes really good. Waiting time is only about 15 mins. They take orders via phone only.
