Food and service are excellent. One of the best play areas for children. Evenings are especially beautiful with the string lights and large trees at dusk. The hosts are wonderful and the hospitality is second to none. Thanks Rey, Ben, Pieter and the staff for a wonderful afternoon. It is fabulous what they have done with the place. It was packed. Obviously very popular. Highly recommend, just go!

I can't rate the food as we only stopped by for a drink ...but what an atmosphere! They have done a brilliant job with it. The garden to the side of the pub has been totally transformed into a chilled out area with strings of lights and a small playground for the kids. There is plenty of seating - sofas, picnic benches and swing seats. Service was quick and the staff were helpful and friendly. The interior of The George is currently under renovation. We can't wait to see how this turns out. If it's half as good as the outside, we're in for a treat.

Only the outside open at the moment it is lovely. Good service and the outside toilets were lovely too!! Can't wait for it to be finished, if the outside is this good the insshould be amazing

Only came in for a couple pints and some pool after work but was great! Good quality pool table even though it was a bit cold in the covered outside area. Bar staff very lovely and chatty :)

I find the comment interesting to be offensive, as it's not factual. I've tried the pub twice since the new extremely loud Landlord has been there. I certainly wouldn't recommend it as there is no atmosphere, and it feels like a pubthat is about to close down. Maybe he needs to take a look at himself as this used to be a thriving business?

Really enjoyed visiting here. The food was. Beautiful and the service was fab. Really warm and welcoming environment. Lovely family vibe. So good in fact that I forgot to take pics before tucking in 🤣 highly recommend a visit here for a meal and a drink.

I decided to take my mum here at The Georgre and Dragon as it used to be her local for many years but hasn't been since the change over and wanted to try it out. I ordered ham, egg, chips and had baked beans instead of peas. The chips looked like they had been left on the side while the rest of the food was being cooked so came out soggy. The ham wasn't off the bone as it states on the menu, it was prepacked and I only got one very thin slice. The baked beans came in a pot and were all dry and looked like they had been reheated before. The egg was burnt on the outside and the middle was also cold. Overall experience wasn't a good one for us so won't be visiting again! I found out the old owners have gone to The Swan at Compton so decide to give it a try and take my my mum for lunch. The food was great as it was before so will be visiting again that's for sure. I highly recommend The Swan at Compton, definitely worth a visit. Great food and good atmosphere. 👍

Had supper with a friend, we haven’t been since it changed hands. Great welcome from landlord, super friendly and warm. Pub was busy and it has had been freshly decorated. I had a sirloin steak with chips and all the trimmings, it melted in the mouth! My friend had a chicken burger, it was delicious. I overheard the people at the next table saying how fantastic the Sunday roasts were with everything made from scratch. I see they have a great Xmas menu and are opening Xmas day for lunch. The menu is such good value with quality ingredients. We will definitely be back soon!!!

Visited for drink on the way back from Blenheim Palace. Nice,clean,spacious car park. 100% recommended. Nice place for catch up with friends.

Just had lunch here with my family, and have to say it was fantastic! Cottage Pie, Nachos to share, my boys had Macaroni Cheese, followed by the Waffles for afters! Food was great, with a friendly atmosphere, I found the owner and manager very friendly and easy to get on with. Will definitely visit again.

Decided to go to the George & Dragon for lunch today, as it’s just been taken over recently . Had a very friendly welcome. Menu is basic pub food. I had fish & chips was very good. Certainly value for money. Plenty of parking. Big garden for kids.certainly will go again.

We were a party of 8 for lunch on a weekday in October. This pub has recently (2 months ago I think) changed hands and have made a lovely welcoming venue here. The host couldn't do too much for us. The food was good pub grub, generous portions, reasonable prices and nicely served. Dogs are not allowed in the dining area but there is a nice outside area where you can dine with your dogs. We will certainly go to the George and Dragon again. Be aware that at the moment they don't serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the kitchen closes at 8.30pm on other days. One thing - bigger napkins please!

Lovely food for a mid-week dinner...I had pie and mash, my son had cheese and bacon burger....it was quiet at 5pm on a Wednesday so no waiting for service. Very friendly and welcoming 👍

My husband went with a friend, after having drinks, went to order the food around 8.30pm and were told they do not take orders anymore for the day and kitchen is closed. We had to have another drink as we had to go empty stomach. You try to go to a local pub because you can support the local businesses but this is how you get treated. We were there for nearly three hours and not even a waiter came and asked whether we need food , if they are closing the kitchen early. Very disappointing and would never go to this place again as we used to go there so often. 😔😞

Shocking experience, which is a shame as I had been looking forward to this much loved local village pub re-opening! Lady behind the bar seems lovely (Tracey), however the new manager/landlord was vile, abusive and as a single female I felt threatened by his behaviour. I was meeting an old friend and we had planned to eat, but arrived to find the kitchen closed, still we chose to stay for a drink. Signs all around the pub saying dogs on leads welcome, so we ordered our drinks and sat at a table. Only to be shouted at 10 mins later that we couldn’t have the dog in the “restaurant” area (because he would have to clean it!), along with several other “it’s my pub/if you don’t like it” comments, he was stood stood directly over me, which was very intimidating and I felt quite shaken! We were then told to leave (at 19:30) as he was closing the pub as it was a waste of his “f-ing” time being open for 5 customers! We sat outside and finished our drinks, along with the other customers, suffice to say we will not be returning. To the landlord - decide where dogs can go and put up better signage, and try toning down your language and asking people politely to move, instead of bullying them, a please and thank-you goes a long way, especially in hospitality. Good luck with this new venture!

What an absolute gem of a country pub. Without doubt the best steak and lasagne we have had in any pub. Amazing home cooked food. The manager Tracey and chef Francis were amazing (hope i got your names right!) The pub itself is gorgeous with a beautiful garden, which also has a play area for children. This place is an absolute gem! A gorgeous country pub. The food we had (steak and lasagne) was without doubt some of the best pub food we have ever eaten. The manager Tracey and chef Francis (hope I remembered your names right) we both wonderful. Just absolutely amazing service. Diabolical food and service. Rude, patronising, arrogant manageress. Will never ever step foot in this awful place again! Only gave 1 star because zero wasn't an option!

Absolutely diabolical food and service. Food took 2 hours to arrive. Our children were starving and irritable. No warning, explanation or apology for the delay. Food order was completely wrong and the manager was not only rude, patronising and arrogant, but also blamed us for ordering incorrectly! The food that did arrive was disgusting and overcooked. One of us got nothing, one had the wrong food, the other had disgusting, bland, tasteless lasagne, whilst the 2 kids had dry, nuked burgers. Got no free ice cream for kids as they were too tired to eat it. Only 'compensation' was free tiny portion of chips and no charge for one kids burger. Manager needs to revise customer service skills! Will never, ever go back to this place again. Absolutely terrible.

Thoroughly awful experience. They tried to seat us as a party of 6 on a table for 4 and the visit was topped off by a member of the waiting staff propositioning a member of our party. Avoid at all costs

Been there a few times now, family functions and for date night. It's out in the sticks, so, if you want a friendly countryside pub, this is the place! I'd highly recommend it 👌🏻

A lovely country pub with a wonderful kids play area. Food was traditional pub food and it was absolutely delicious. A lovely selection to choose from … we chose Chicken Tikka Masala, ham egg and chips, club sandwich and a kids fish fingers, smiley faces and baked beans … we enjoyed and then went for sticky toffee puddings, apple pie and kids ice cream. Very much enjoyed, the staff were excellent, pub welcoming, food excellent. Perfect for families with young children … everyone happy.

Great busy pub which is lovely for families with a big play area. Food is good, lots of beers on tap and the atmosphere was friendly. Shame the current tenants are moving on. Hope it stays the same.

Me and some colleagues have been working remotely in Oxford for the last month on a nearby site. We tried many local restaurants and pubs but this by far is the best of the best within the area. The food has always been fantastic, perfectly cooked, tasty and fresh. The staff and management are amazing, and can't do enough for you. The pub it's self has a great historic charm coupled with sympathetic modern feel. Brilliant beer gardens. This was our pub of choice to eat out in while we were away and I can't recommend it enough.

Family and I went for Sunday lunch - v good. Good portions. Good meat choice: lamb, beef, pork. Friendly staff, lovely location. Would recommend booking.

The best Sunday roast we have ever had. The food was all freshly cooked to perfection and served piping hot. Staff were friendly and helpful and despite being so busy still had to me to chat. Highly recommend, we will certainly be returning!!

Bit of a hidden gem. Well thought out pub for all weather. Seating in the sun or under cover but still outside. Burger was great but the portion of chips was inadequate. They should either use a smaller chip cups or fill the cup up with chips. No dogs allowed in the pub any more

Pleased to say lunch is served here til 3pm so ideal for a late bite. We booked for 1.30 and the place was still busy but service was quick. The place itself looks a little drab and tired and in need of a spruce up in the main pub area, however, a nice newly-built covered area at the back of the main building is obviously where improvement funds have gone during the covid era. Meals are adequate if not exactly gastronomic. There is a specials board of other pub grub type meals like chilli or liver and bacon. We stuck with the fish and chips and a steak which was plentiful and hot. Desserts are more underwhelming- think shop bought catering packs and microwaveable pre-packed hot puds. But drinks are reasonably priced so the bill wasn’t a shock. Would I visit again? Probably, but only for a quick or late bite instead of cooking myself.

Well, the beer was good, but I wouldn't rave about it. The menu for lunch is very unimaginative, especially for vegetarians. We had a friend egg and cheese sandwich with chips. The only vegetarian option. If you're vegan, mebbe you could have a chip sandwich with chips! But, basically, this is a traditional pub, with a slight nod towards food. There's nothing wrong with it. It's all good as far as it goes. But not worth going out of your way for because it is all rather staid.

Taken my family for several meals over years. We always enjoy their well cooked homely food from a various Menu. Friendly staff & really nice clean solid wood hi-chair available for our 3yr old Grandaughter. Plenty of wines & alcohol to choose from. Garden at rear with Children's play area & adequate parking too. Pub has large old fashioned fireplace which is lit in the Winter months. Give it a try ! 😉 🥕🥦🥩🍔🍺🍹

The George is a great stop after a local walk or bike ride. The staff are always welcoming. There is a good selection of drinks and the food is pub home cooking. No pretensions to be a country gastro pub, just good honest grub.
