The Apple Cart is a perfect setting for a large family gathering. Service always extremely courteous and professional (Chelsea W was taking care of us last time). The steaks are excellent and with 25% off for serving forces, makes it a truly viable alternative to staying at home!

The Beefeater Breakfast by Alice Rush (age 10) entitled "Where Are My Frosties?" I'm going to The Beefeater for breakfast. The service is not fast, the croissants are cold, the water is warm, and I don't think I can take it any more. Where are my Frosties? I'm going to The Beefeater for breakfast. Our party of nine enjoyed a very pleasant evening meal at the Applecart. The food was excellent as was the service provided by Rosie. Thank you Rosie for your professional and friendly service.

Very poor service. Pre booked as a party of 20, waited almost an hour to order food despite telling staff we were ready, almost gave up waiting for them, McDonald's across the road would have been quicker as we had children with us, who by the time food eventually arrived were too tired to eat. Then when we tried to book breakfast for the following morning which we had already pre paid for were told they were full and already had 300 people booked, but when we asked for a refund, there was suddenly space. When we arrived at 8 am for breakfast, there were only a handful of tables occupied. I wonder what happened to the 300 people?????

We had a hot Delicious roast Dinner, with unlimited extras of Roast potatoes, Yorkies and gravy for a extra small price ... Excellent service from our waitress Kelly. She was very attentive, friendly and served us with a lovely smile. Thank you Kelly..

The price of the food does not correlate well to the amount of food served or the quality. I didn’t enjoy my food and wasn’t happy paying the high price for the food. I did speak with a server however I felt I was talking to the wrong person as the server was very helpful but I feel as though I should’ve spoken with a manager or even the chef. A great service from waiters. The atmosphere was good.

Good value for your money friendly staff good food.

Arranged team meal for 17 of us. This was easily and professionally organised by Harry. On arrival we were greeted, and seated by Nate, who was lovely. Our server Kelly was amazing, food brought out in good time, and we were well looked after. Food was cooked perfectly, and great quality at reasonable price. We all had a great meal and would definitely recommend to others. Thank you.

After visiting a very sick relative thought we would have a festive meal to cheer us up. We all ordered the festive burger and billionaire dessert. It was 35 minutes coming and was stone cold. The burger looked like it had been warmed up from lunchtime and was like a bit of leather there was 4 of us I ate 2 chips and a few bites from my burger bun. On coming over to say was all ok she was told it wasn’t we all gave her our meals back. Then she asked did we want our puddings NO! We have been here numerous times never had a problem but sadly won’t go back. Shame I can’t download it as I took photos. Lousy

Family group visited for Saturday lunch from the Festive Menu. Service slow (took over 2 hours for 2 courses to be served). Xmas lunch vegetables overcooked and soggy including roast potatoes. Would have given 1 star but 25% off food voucher improved the value for money, but nobody likes poor food served slowly so 2 stars is a generous review.

Place was empty and was told it was an hours wait and another 45 minutes to order food, disgusting service and very unprofessional.

We booked for 10:45am today without realising breakfast finishes at 11! Breakfast items are packed away promptly at 11am so very little time is available, especially when the restaurant is at capacity and queues are to be expected. The coffee machines were turned off at 11am despite being serviced for most of the period between 10:45-11. Bread, cereal, pastries were depleted before 11 am but not replenished. It's worth noting that the blue light card is not accepted for breakfast, which was disappointing. Friendly staff but they were under pressure due to a full restaurant. The service rating reflects a lack of staff rather than rating of the staff in place.

Full English breakfast eat as much as you want - excellent and good value for £10.99 at the Applecart. The breakfast team are friendly and efficient (Liz and Sarita). Hubby and I are regulars. Food is good quality cappuccino unlimited too! Also good choice of other beverages too.

We came up to see my husbands daughter and grandkids.Very disappointed that Beefeater don't do jacket potato's.I used to love having steak with a jacket and sour cream.My husband found the waitress was very off when serving us. The food was good.Kids cleared the plates.

Tonight I had a lovely meal of new Christmas menu. Though there was small muddle on one meal it was sorted out quickly and effectively by the staff. Many thanks for lovely evening good food.

I payed £20 for burger and and chips the burger tastes like shit had barely any salad or onions in it you can get much better from Mac Donald’s if I’m on it

Called in for dinner at 6pm on a Sunday. Enquired upon entering the restaurant about the Sunday roast to be told that there was only Roast Lamb available. Given a menu and seated straight away - by the time we were asked for our choice, there was no Roast Lamb available!!! Chose the Half Roast chicken from the main menu - told sorry not available! Ended up choosing the gammon and then the Smothered Chicken Melt. Asked for garden peas instead of the salad and slaw that accompanied the Chicken Melt. Both meals arrived - looked totally unappetising! A very small portion of chips which were lukewarm and dried up on both meals!!! A spoonful of garden peas that were barely warm on both meals!!! The chicken melt was minute!!! At £14.99 I would have expected at least a half chicken breast - this was literally a small cut from a chicken breast with a very thin piece of cheese melted and a slither of bacon stuck on the top! Oh and a smattering of bbq sauce underneath!! Gammon was the cheapest piece of gammon they could muster up!! Don’t waste your hard earned money dining at this Beefeater…..worst meal we have had for a long time! Told the waitress when paying that we won’t be returning as the meal was terrible. Just a shrug of the shoulders which summed up the whole dining experience!!!

Been coming to this restaurant for the last 2 week due to working in the area and had some great food and excellent service. I have came back to this restaurant due to me working up here for another week. Ihave been accused for not paying my bill. We have got proof of payment over every meal we have had. Very disgusted of being accused of something like this. We questioned the lady about the mix up and she was still very rude and we did not get a apologise. Due to this we will not be eating here anymore.

The food is sometimes hit or miss, most days it's worth the money but the fish and chips I had on Friday 4/10/2024 most definitely was not worth the £15 I paid as it seemed to be a reheated product that was maybe missed not long before I arrived, other than that the place it's self is very nice and welcoming and the staff as always is amazing and happy to help.

We stopped in for dinner as we were staying at the Premier Inn next door. Service was a little slow getting going but once Rosie did arrive and take our order the food was quick to come out and we both enjoyed our meals. Bit of a pause before we could order dessert but once again once ordered it was quickly in front of us. Overall a good experience and a thanks to Rosie for looking after us.

Undoubtedly one of the worst places I've ever eaten at! Waited nearly 40 minutes for 2 dishes, one of which came out cold.

I can’t thank the staff enough for their kindness and hospitality today while I waited for her RAC to attend my car. I’d had a blow out on the A34 and I was quite shaken when I arrived. Manager Harry, the afternoon Front of House lady and Chelsea all helped to make a very stressy and anxious time much better. Thank you all so much - Karen x

We came in tonight, dinning for 2, Saturday night, very noise by the entrance, too many people squeezed in one place, we sat on a quite place cause I'm not good with too much noise (Sensitive to noise and overcrowded places) and a young girl named Rosie approached our tables asking if we got permission to sit there, and told us we could not sit there cos they were preparing the space for the next day, we asked were we could sit that would be quiet and she send us to speak to another member of staff after extensively explaining us why we couldn't sit there like if we had transposed or smt! Then we speak to the next member of staff which she as well extensively explained us why we could sit in a massive area they had empty, again I asked her to sit us somewhere quiet, and she then calls the manager, the manager came outside, did not great us, was blant and snappy like if we were really not welcomed there, explained us all over again their reasons, at that point I didn't want to hear again how their night shift goes around, all I wanted was to be seated! He as well couldn't find us a quiet place to be sat and just told us to sit wherever we wanted, within the limited area they wanted, at that point I said we are not coming back to that place, we felt so unwelcome, went across the road were we got to sit wherever we liked and chose.

Went in for breakfast food was good quality, fresh, and hot. Staff where friendly and inviting. The place was clean very good all round.

Our plans fell through so ten of us descended on The Applecart at 6 o'clock on a Thursday evening in the hope of getting a table. The staff were excellent and really accommodating and quickly found a table for all ten of us (including a child and a wheelchair user). Needless to say we all ordered something different but all the food arrived at the same time and was really good. I had the double beef burger which was excellent. Staff were really friendly and efficient with a special mention of the young waiter who looked after us so well.

Dined here tonight whilst staying in the hotel and I was impressed. I went on the day time menu and enjoyed the Chicken goujons and Rump Steak. All very well cooked and tasted lovely. Chelsea who was the waitress was attentive and friendly. Enjoyable meal.

Amazing service and so quick. Lovely atmosphere. Charging sockets at every table. The food was amazing. And had a bar area.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and it is a good place to go for a meal if you are on a budget. Don't expect too much and you will have a great time, that is not to say that it is awful, because it isn't, it is just very basic. If you want a steak cooked exactly as you like it, there are better places. Equally, if you like a no frills all you can eat breakfast buffet, this might just be the place for you!

Service was awful, we waited and waited ages to try get kids deserts but no one on bar and the 2 girls were Serving tables so we just left and kids went with out ...even though we had already payed foe there deserts. Will not go bk again

This is one of my favourite places for breakfast. This morning I didn't manage to get it because I hadn't booked! Wow, it just shows you how good it is because the restaurant was full at 8:30!

Took a while to get seated as there'd been a bit of a rush at lunch but once we were the food arrived quickly and was nice. The staff were obviously working very hard and we're friendly regardless.

Good food, plenty of choice, self service for Breakfast. Evening meals were table service, again good food, reasonable wine choice, nice staff.

Came here as booked for dinner and breakfast included with my stay at the premier inn. The food was lovely and staff were nice and friendly. If you come here just for the restaurant, it can be on the slightly more expensive side but the food quality makes up for that, and the included dinner and unlimited breakfast with your stay with premier inn is surprisingly good value per person considering you get a very nice 2 course meal, a drink and then unlimited breakfast the following morning for approx £25 per person.

Always good value, foo9d was well cooked and presented, just occasionally there seem to be too many children, but thats just a personal thing !

Bought drinks and as it was in the services area attempted to feed my children a picnic in the outside picnic area only to be told we weren't allowed. Appreciate there is a pub here but it's not clear it's not part of the services (usually there are outside places to eat). The girl was rude and announced loudly to the whole pub garden (she didn't even come over discreetly). Really embarrassing and unnecessary. It's not like we set up camp in the middle of the inside restaurant. Signage and a bit of compassion would not go amiss

when we go.to have Sunday roast they have no beef lamb only chicken left and 1 30 pm not good enough and the price keeps going up so steep and we get an answer from the staff that they are busy even when we have booked and long time to wait menu stays the same as well all year when do get roast dinner its burnt its not good enough

Fantastic service from the friendly staff . Food was beautiful my steak was cooked to perfection & tasted amazing.

We had an utterly appalling and shocking experience at this restaurant- Beef eater- Apple Cart at Didcot. We went there as it was my Birthday, and that was the nearest place we could go, reached at 0845 pm- I agree this was late; But when we booked the table, no one advised they close at 0900pm. We have been there before and , this is the second time we've encountered such poor quality and service. Served by K H (as per the bill)., I ordered grilled salmon served with Butter sauce and Roast potatoes. The food was cold, was completely tasteless and came with no sauce. The portion for an adult wasn't even enough for a kid. And please, for the love of food, keep some vegetables in stock! I wonder how boiled potatoes mixed with roast veggies became "roast vegetables." Some of the ordered Calamari was half cooked and tased of raw batter/coating!! Our kids, who usually love mac and cheese, now hate it after eating it here. The server even brought out a single bowl of potato chips for both kids, despite us ordering separately for each. To add to the disappointment, there was no starter and no pudding, yet we were still charged 90% of the cost of a 3-course meal. This isn't about the money—it's about the sheer rudeness of the staff. When we raised our concerns, the server dismissively said, "You came near closing time, maybe that's why...." This level of customer service is shocking and unacceptable. If the restaurant cant serve customers past 0845 pm, they shouldn't allow people to book for a table nor keep the restaurant open at such times. We won't be returning, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here.

We always come here because you consistently serve up lovely food with good service. Tonight Rosie our waitress and her boss I think where great. So nice visiting here so friendly helpful.

I can only comment on the incredible level of customer service. My 83 Mom had a very stressful journey and had been driving most of the day. She pulled over to take a break and became very unwell - the staff at the Beefeater could not have done anymore to look after her until the paramedics (and ultimately an ambulance arrived to take her to hospital). I live an hour away and they kept me informed on her status and even contacted me the following day to check on Mom's status. I am so grateful for the level of compassion that was shown by the whole team. Thank you so much.

The food was okay, the waitress was lovely but the manageress or supervisor didn't seem to know her job and what discounts to give. I was in on Sunday the 30th of June. I got seated and mentioned I had a tastecard for 25% off the bill. I was told they don't take tastecard on a Sunday and when they do it is only 25% off of main meals. Fortunately I had the Meercat meals App on my phone so managed to show her that was accepted Sundays and discount on entire bill but was told that Tastecard still isn't taken on a Sunday and is only on main meals. I checked online when I got home and she is wrong. I was going to get in touch with their head office to let them know that restaurant isn't giving the deals it should, but decided to write this review instead. Hopefully now someone from the restaurant will see it and check and then update their policy there.

Visited here on Saturday afternoon. We arrived early but were shown to a table straight away. All staff we can into contact with were excellent, offering genuine service. Kyle was outstanding. His service was top rate. Attention to detail was fantastic. He made sure we had everything we wanted. As for the food well it was great too and did not wait long. Chicken was flavouresome ribs were so tender. 1 had gammon which apparently was great. Great visit. Thank you

Came here for fathers day breakfast. Booked for 1030. Were not made aware that at 11 they would be taking everything away and clearing up. I know they had to prep for a busy lunch. But by the time we had time to get food for kids and my disabled mum we didn't even get time to have a coffee because the machines were cleaning. My dad even got told off for getting a pot of jam to go with the bowl of porridge he already had on the table. I understand they had a quick turnaround but we wanted to enjoy our breakfast at least.

I visited this evening, just myself and my 3 year old daughter. The witness serving was an absolute gem. I real credit to the establishment. She was patient and engaging with my daughter and very understanding of what it is like to dine with children. The food came really quickly and was hot and tasty. Reasonably priced. Kelly (I think that is what her name tag said), the waitress, is what has made me write this review. She was absolutely spot on at being available and efficient as well as a lovely, friendly server. The pub got busier as we were there and even though Kelly was run off her feat it didn't effect her service. I mentioned on the way out I was really pleased with her service and they suggested a trip adviser review. So here it is!

We went for a meal tonight and found out they had T-bone steak on the menu so had to have that. It was delicious and Cleo who served us deserves a special mention , she was exactly what every restaurant should have , friendly, attentive, happy , with her service and great food , it made it a thoroughly pleasant evening.

I was away on business and just wanted a place where I could be in and out quickly. This worked perfectly. Standard type menu for this type of establishment but more than adequate. Didn't have to wait for a table. Service was quick and efficient. I would highly recommnend.

Was looked after by Nate, lunchtime visit,ribeye was cooked perfectly and a runny eggy on the top, wife enjoyed a Gammon steak again cooked very nicely.

Went for breakfast with better half & Grandchildren & the food was smashing, hot & nothing missing from the selection ... What complains could anybody have when kids eat "free" under 16 years so breakfast worked out at £5.50 p/h ... Defo will be back

Haven't visited for several years as having moved away. Popped in when passing on a journey home. Restaurant is looking very tardy and in need of a face-lift. The food was more than adequate for our needs. It was well cooked, and the service was good.

The food was nice but a bit pricey. Luckily we had a 33% off voucher! It was very clean and tidy and the staff were really friendly. The churros sundae was delicious. We would definitely return.

Popped in for a beer around 4 o'clock. No one eating but staff were 'larking arond' and more interested on chatting than serving me. Toilets in bad need of refurbishment. Overall its a dump.

My wife and I were travelling down to Weymouth from the Midlands and decided to look for somewhere to have breakfast. We initially pulled into McDonald’s, but the car park was full and the place was packed with people so we parked in the Beefeater’s car park and decided to have something to eat there instead. Unfortunately for us we had missed the breakfast service, and it was still quite a way from the lunch service beginning, but the very nice gentleman behind the bar told us that he would make us some hot drinks if we wanted. We took him up on the offer, so we at least had a rest and loo break before we set off on our way again. Thank you for making us welcome, and hopefully next time we are passing we will be in time for a meal.

If you want to wait for ages at the entrance without anyone serving you, this is the place to you. Avoid

As with all Beefeaters, expect to stand around for ages while they come and collect your details and give you a table. Worst I’ve known for this. Avoid this place, poor staff and service

Very clean the staff were lovely Rosie was a great server and looked after us highly recommend food was nice and tasty and nice atmosphere ! Breakfast was lovley too plenty of options if staying in the hotel I definitely recommend the beefeater next door we went here every night !
