Excellent family dinner out. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the steak platter which was perfectly cooked and generous in portion size. Excellent coffee. Highly recommend!

Great find, we had a really good rack of ribs with great chips and Asian slaw really recommend them, can’t wait to try the whole menu now! The sharing steak platter arrived at the table next to us and it looked seriously good, as did the fish and chips at the table behind …….

Another fabulous meal at The Flowing Well! This is my third visit, and each time is at least as fabulous as the last. This was my first visit on a Sunday and the roast was sublime. The staff are fabulous, the food and surroundings are always perfect. This is how you do it!!! Can't recommend them highly enough, I wish there were more Sundays in a week!

The two of us went for the roast Turkey Christmas meal. It was delicious, all of it. Great service and good atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the dessert, sticky date and pear pudding with custard…. Highly recommended.

Great roast turkey, pig in a blanket, stuffing ball, sprouts, parsnip, carrots, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and gravy for lunch on 10 December. My husband's roast potatoes were also very good but my sweet potato wedges were burnt around the edges. Our drinks, pineapple juice and pear Kopparberg cider were also good.

Excellent sunday roast - Lamb shank was very good and all others enjoyed the beef and chicken roasts. Would have been even better if my daughter could have had choice other than just a half roast beef and the pigs in blankets were not crispy / browned. Service was also good and prompt.

Just popped in for drinks but will be back to eat another day. Watching lots of delicious food passing us by looked fantastic but we had reservations elsewhere. We were more than happy with range of drinks and We were a large group to please. The staff were fantastic and the surroundings were really relaxing and elegant. I only wish you were based in Melksham. You could really teach those shabby pubs a thing or two.

Staff behind bar were lovely but we were shocked at the portion sizes V cost. Got an Indian platter to share for £19.95 and incredible small portions for 1 person let alone 2. We were super disappointed

Eleven of us from 78 to one year. Staff were most helpful and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. A range of food was enjoyed from an extensive menu. It was all delicious and the service smooth. Wish I lived nearer!

Be aware! Food is great and most of the staff are attentive but if you want a covered table you have to specify in your booking ‘under the marquee’ of which there are only approx 8 tables. Otherwise they will put you under a small sunshade covered table and you’ll get soaking wet if it rains.I called to book and asked if they had undercover tables and was told yes and to book online. I therefore booked this place only to be told on arrival that the marquee tables are given only to the first 50% of bookings and only if you specify ‘marquee’. We were moved to a bigger sunshade - still wet - and eventually to one of the 4 free tables in the marquee. Wet, cold, but quite frankly so glad to be out for the first time in 6 months we stayed and the food was delicious. Manager was passionate (but extremely rude) and clearly wants this place to be a success but could do with a crash course in customer service! Managing expectations and admitting when you’re wrong are key to customer service.

Staff, food, and atmosphere are lovely. Always make a fuss of my dog! Such a lovely feel on a winters day with the fire burning, and on a summers day with the open patio.

Two visits this week prior to the enhanced restrictions (lockdown v2) - both absolutely exceptional on all fronts. Great service, fabulous pint of Morlands Original and some outstanding food - can’t wait for you guys to open up in December, you’ll be missed.

Popped in for Sunday lunch on the off chance there may be a free table, and fortunately the staff were able to fit us in, albeit on a small tale (for four of us) . Service was great and the Sunday lunch of shoulder of lamb absolutely amazing. Huge portion of lamb on the bone topped with an enormous Yorkshire pudding hiding a loads of veg. Roast beef and vegetarian nut roast the same.

Our first post lockdown visit following a great meal in February was very disappointing, especially as we were celebrating my fathers 89th birthday. The pork roast was ok but the crackling was like rubber and could not be eaten.The beef in the roast was all stringy, uncuttable and therefore inedible - we quietly raised this with the waitress to be told she would raise it with the manager and she came back and thanked us for our feedback! There were just two tiny roast potatoes and very little veg.However the blackberry and apple crumble was lovely but the cheesecake was flavourless and not appealing.

I had high hopes for this pub from recommendations but a very underwhelming experience. We chose two roast beefs 2 slim slices of beef with 2 potatoes were not really £14.95 worthy. We were then harassed throughout our dinner (3 different is your food okay was very irritating) with a brunette boy hovering from around the corner watching us eat then as soon as our plates hit the plate he was collecting. Roast beef was nice but no starters available and deserts weren’t very exciting. After we declined desserts we asked for the bill 20 minutes later we had to wave over somebody else for the bill. We won’t be returning.

I had heard positive reviews of the food at this pub and thought we would give it a go. Happy to say we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service quick and the establishment fully covid compliant. We had the sharing steak platter which was really good value. Would definitely recommend it.

Read all the reviews after we had been there. I’m amazed by the positive feedback to be quite frank. The food was appalling, my dogs wouldn’t have eaten it, everything was overcooked , dry , tasteless, for such a basic menu you would think it was idiot proof, unfortunately not, nice outside for a beer in the sun but apart from that I would not recommend.

It was a lovely day and we were out for a countryside walk. As it was a bank holiday we knew that all the tables inside would be booked, so we got there early to bag an outside table. Service inside and out was very well organised and Covid safe. The food was great and the service was prompt and friendly. This pub is now one of our regular family haunts.

We booked a table as we figured it would be busy with the last day of the Eat Out Help Out scheme. We arrived about 20 minutes early, and our table was ready so we were seated right away. The tables all seemed to be spread out, the "check in" area was outside the main door so saved anyone going in unnecessarily.The service was great, really fast and our food came out in good time. We ordered the steak platter for 2, and it was lovely! There's a wait of about 40 minutes for it, but we were advised of that when ordering, so ordered a sharer while we waited - it went quickly! All of the staff were really friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere in there. We will 100% be returning!

Came here for a family celebration with 7 people in the party. The stand out dish was the steak sharing platter which we all had. There was an absolute mountain of steak with loads and loads of chips. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The peppercorn sauce was great, just the right amount of heat and not too salty (as some can be).I would not hesitate to recommend The Flowing Well for a great and affordable meal out. Also the wine list is very good and well priced. We had a few bottles of the Malbec which from memory was priced at 24 quid.Give it a go!!

Visited the flowing well last night as have lovely memories of the place and especially their smokey BBQ SPARE RIBS! After quite a wait our ribs arrived.... they were dry and chewy and to top it the fries were fried within a inch of there life. When asked if everything was OK i replied that the ribs were dry. The lady offered me a free alternative A NEW CHOOSE, so i patiently waited WHILE MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO CARRY ON WITH HIS RIBS. This time i went for a salad - basic and tasteless and when i asked if i should bring my card in to get a refund - she had the cheek to say that it was a free replacement, this is not what she said when offering to change. Will not be eating there again, we were eating out to support local restaurants but there is no way i would have paid the full price and had to watch my husband eating his food first! NEVER MIND IT;S A SHAME AS I ONLY LIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY SO MIGHT HAVE MADE IT MY LOCAL.

What a lovely place to spend time, meeting friends and eating well. The atmosphere was great, nice varied menu, good value for money, good service and the food was great too. We will definitely be back, this is now going to become our regular place to meet, every other month

Stopped here on a long journey back home with my mother and her dog. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating to mum’s dog, nice atmosphere, unfortunately the food and pricing let it down. We ordered King Prawn Linguine and Harissa Chicken Hash, the hash was as described, maybe a little on the small side for the price and certainly nothing special. The linguine, however, was not at all seasoned, I was eating plain pasta with some frozen prawns chucked on top, hardly worth the £14 price tag! Not an awful experience but not something I’ll rave about to my friends.

This was our fourth visit and was always a pleasurable and enjoyable dinner. The staff are always excellent, polite, helpful and honest, they are a credit to the restaurant, 5 stars here!The menu is usually good as they cater for vegetarians quite well as there were several choices, we pretty much made up our minds that this was our chosen venue for family occasions. This visit however was a disappointment, two vegetarian options, a salad or tagine. The option was a Pizza..Well, I don't eat Pizza due to the high fat content, I didn't fancy a salad as eating salad on a cold December night didn't appeal at all. I opted for the tangine, the description made it sound a wise choice however, I wasn't expecting a microwave sludge so salty it actually hurt my mouth, the chickpeas had been dried due to the microwave and were like hard brittle beads, I couldn't see a single whole vegetable or pepper. Now I don't expect the kitchen to have a fresh tagine pot on the go but this was a right sad offering.The puddings are outrageously priced especially the ice-cream, the other pudding choices are quite good but still expensive but well presented. Time to up your game guys, vegetarianism and veganism is a growing market and I don't want you to miss the boat, your staff are great, the interior is great, the menu and food, meh.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch after a local 10k race on the recommendation of a friend. There were 3 in our group and we hadn’t booked. We were very lucky to get a table as it was excessively busy. There is a large off road carpark which makes that aspect quite easy. There is outdoor seating if the weather situation ever permits it....I imagine it’s lovely out there in the summer. Despite not having any ‘proper’ tables available there was a very low table with comfy chairs and a high table in the bar area with stools. We asked if we could sit at one of these for food and were told it was fine as long as we were happy to do so but there was no proper seating available. We were more than happy with this arrangement and chose the high table with stools. The Sunday menu is decent, not just the usual Sunday roast items but the full menu was also available which was great. I had a chicken salad which was very good and a large portion with nuts, leaves and a lovely glaze. I had a side order of fries to balance out the healthy option and they were also excellent. One of my 2 friends had the traditional pie which he said was very good, the other friend had the fish which they didn’t realise was a whole fish and so it came full of bones which was a bit tedious. She also didn’t have much luck with her dessert with her salted caramel ice cream tasting like coffee. Apparently it was vegan salted caramel ice cream which the menu hadn’t stated; it did taste very weird so she left it. For dessert I had the tiramisu, I love this dessert but this one was a bit heavy on the cream it wasn’t the best. The rest of the food was excellent though. Based on this experience I would certainly recommend a visit to this place. Will definitely go back when I’m next in the area.

We ate here with the family ( 6 people covering three generations) and there was plenty of choice in this spacious pub. Several of us had the Sunday roast, which were generous portions.There is lots of room, and the we counted 6 dogs in the bar area at one point! The prices are higher than many places for Sunday lunch, but overall it was good value for money.

Went out for a lunch meal with my dad and a friend of his! Lovely staff and atmosphere, our mains were delicious however I had a banana pancake for pudding which I thought would be bananas and blueberries in nice thin crepes and instead came in those small thick pancakes and also didn’t like the idea of this pudding coming with yoghurt! Would’ve preferred it with ice cream. Also my dad and his friend ordered coffees which went cold and my dad asked to take the two coffees off the bill and we were left with having to charge one of the coffees as well as everything else! :/

Decided to stop on a wim and so glad we did. The pub is off the beaten track between Oxford and Abingdon, the staff efficient and friendly, the beer Morlands Original in very good condition and at a sensible price. The food Posh Nosh Fish and Chips and a Quinoa Salad hit the spot, two very good meals moderately priced, we will call again.

This is a really nice pub with a large restaurant, friendly service, efficient and helpful, and the food is outstanding. It is dog friendly, which is great and in the true tradition of English pubs. The posh fish and chips - monkfish not cod ! - is superb, and the starters are so interesting and beautifully cooked and served. This is going on the list as a place to go.

You can rely on a decent pub food, friendly service and a lovely setting on the terrace. No pretensions, just good old pub grub. Big car park and lots of seating outside is a plus, on the downside it is a little dark inside.

Went for a meal with my mother turning up on the off chance. Plenty of car parking and nice grounds outside. We sat inside and it’s just as nice. The food was delicious and freshly made too, ate every bit. The staff were helpful, friendly and made us feel welcomed (George was lovely).

An attractive pub set in a picturesque village close to Oxford and Abingdon. Lots of parking space and a very large dining terrace: - perfect for a summer Sunday lunch, I had a tasty tomato and basil soup, followed by a traditional beef roast. A generous helping of meat, a large Yorkshire pudding, a good mixture of vegetables and lots of gravy. My wife had a prawn starter with garlic and butter, which, as a previous reviewer has said, should really be served with a chunk of bread, followed by roast duck. Starters are around £6-7 and mains £14-15. The service was efficient and attentive.

I’ve been meaning to check this pub out for some time but have only just got round to it - I’ve been missing out! This is a gem - lovely atmosphere and all-round feel to it. We sat outside as it was the hottest day of the year so far but indoors looked great too, nice decor and a real welcoming feel.

Having been informed that this was as good a restaurant as any in the local area to eat dinner, we tried it for the first time. Nothing to shout or rave about and I doubt we will return. Too much salt applied in the kitchen for the prepared meals!

I went to The Flowing Well for lunch with a friend before heading off to Oxford United's last home game of the season against Doncaster Rovers. We booked a table for 2 for 12.15pm so we would have ample time to get to the match for a 3.00pm kick off.

Found this on google maps as I needed a stopover as I travelled down the A34. It’s less than 5 mins off the A34, so really handy, but a bit like going into another dimension as you hit this sleepy village. The pub is gorgeous, well decorated with a large dining area (as well as outside seating options). The menu is excellent. Interesting selection and a reasonable veggie and vegan section. The food itself was well worth it. I had the beef strip sandwich, it wasn’t what I expected but it was gorgeous. Enjoyable little break and a world away from a service station.

My boyfriend and I took some relatives who were visiting for lunch at the Flowing Well today. We were all very impressed with our meals. The pub has a lovely garden and the food is great. The only thing I could fault was that my "posh fish and chips" was supposed to come with a king prawn skewer as well as the monkfish tails. Unfortunately this was not there but I did not worry about asking for it as already had plenty of food which was delicious.

I went to the Flowing Well with my Dad and my husband on Saturday 20th April 2019. I was a little disappointed to see that the menu had changed again and it seemed that they were trying to big up the place to be more like a gastro pub.
