Took my elderly mother in law with other family plus dog for Friday lunch. We were extremely warmly received by Erol and had a lovely table near the roaring fire. First off, the local brew was one of the best.
Had the home baked bread as a nibble with our drinks. It was made with charcoal and flour but light and airy with a fab flavour and served with homemade herb butter (Erol grows and dries his own oregano!)
I had the fish and chips. Fresh Pollock (sustainable 👍) in a light crisp batter which was cooked to perfection and the chips perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. 11 out of 10!
We also had the spicy chicken wings which were finger licking good. My mother in law had homemade celeriac soup which was utterly delicious.
It’s not often that after I eat out I feel the urge to write a glowing review but The Harrow and our wonderful experience made me feel the need. Definitely going back for more.
If you're walking in the country park then this is a very good place to stop for a coffee. The lady serving was very friendly and helpful. The coffee was freshly made and was good. Cakes, crisps and biscuits were also available and there is also a table where you can sit and take a rest.
after our visit both my friend and I felt unwell — stomach pain and nausea, like mild food poisoning. At first I thought it was just me, but she had the same. So something we ate clearly wasn’t right.
Also, the same male waiter served us again — he’s always cold, robotic, and seems annoyed to deal with people. This wasn’t the first time, but now it’s clear it’s just his usual attitude. Even the way he looks at guests feels unpleasant.
Honestly, he’s the main reason we won’t be coming back — and now the food quality is also a concern.
Bad customer service, ordered four plates of food received five, we are four people keep in mind, and in return we were showed our receipt which had five meals registered when my father had clearly said four? And we are visibly four people! Just bad experience in general
Just had a wonderful meal at The Horseshoes! Hubby had roast pork belly and would highly recommend! Michelle was our waitress and she was absolutely fantastic! She really listened, was so friendly and made the experience so easy and enjoyable! Faultless in every way!
We will be back! X
I ordered food at 10:15pm it said it should be here for 11:25pm it is now 12:35pm and the food still is not here the place is now closed so I have no way of finding out where the food is! I will never be ordering from here ever again !!
Really grateful that although staff were really busy, they made us feel welcome. I overheard them offering extra of another meat when the 'mixed' carvery was unavailable. Our Fish and Chips was the best I'd had in a long time and I'm definitely going back for food! We go for drinks regularly but honestly cannot recommend the food/chef enough!
