Wonderful Victorian street corner local. Friendly, great atmosphere. And great beer - this is real ale heaven! Goachers, Kent Brewery, Vocation and London Beer Lab beers all on and in excellent condition. A "proper" pub!!!

I've been going to the Flowerpot for years although less frequently as a few others are matching the FP's standards. In spite of what the last poster said it really is a friendly pub with an excellent selection of hand pump real ales and a welcoming lack of background 'musak'. Parking can be a bit tricky but it's a walking distance from the town centre. I've not eaten there for a while but the owner's mother cooks the best Cornish Pasties this side of the Tamar. The mini beer festivals are really good too, but things can get crowded whenever Maidstone United are playing at home. The other three pubs I'd recommend? The Stag, the Rifle Volunteers, and the Thirsty Pig.

No wonder all pubs like this are closing everywhere, I used to like this pub but it has changed a lot recently, I think it still hangs on by the locality to the football club ? Manger spoke to me like he was trying to scrape something off the bottom of his shoe !!!!!! Plenty of good pubs around don’t waste your hard earned cash here

Excellent choice of real ales and ciders, friendly staff and always a good atmosphere. Not very big so can get a bit crammed, but always worth it. Recommended

This pub is perfectly placed for a pint before the football which is handily situated across the road. There is an excellent selection of beers and ciders with Goachers and Miadstone often available. The pub offers good value bar food and there is regular entertainment. A lively pub to enjoy !

Nowadays, a lot of pubs are advertising 'craft ales' but are delivering nothing of the sort. The Flower Pot is different....very different. Not only do they serve craft ales but they have a broad and interesting selection on offer from local and national craft breweries. It's very rare to find such a great selection, all served impeccably, and with a smile. While the beer is a standout feature of the Flower Pot, it's a great pub for other reasons too. Not least the food.....huge, delicious pizzas were the order of the day and we only managed 2 of them between 4 of us. The atmosphere is friendly and fun, with beer recommendations being shared freely among punters. While there is music, it is neither too loud or too quiet. Adding atmosphere while still allowing people to hear each other talking. Great selection of board games, traditional pub decor and comfortable seating make this a place to settle into for a few drinks at least. Prices are sensible if not quite low. CAMRA members receive a discount on beer purchases too! Thanks Flower Pot...I applaud you keeping it 'real'.

Went in to meet old friends at lunchtime. They do lovely chips with a choice, ie sausage roll etc. Reasonably priced, Staff are very friendly, quick service, lovely coffee, Doesn't look over much from the outside but they are in CAMRA, have live music, parking is a bit of an issue but it is well worth a visit.

With two young children, these days I usually end up in family-friendly pubs at weekends. The Flower Pot makes a nice change for me because it's a throwback to my old days of being a bachelor where the beer, sport and company were more important than finely upholstered seats and a climbing frame in the beer garden. This is a pub where you go for a real ale, a game of pool and a good laugh with the friendly regulars and bar staff - a recommended getaway from family life, if you can get permisison!

Lucky for me, this is my local. A nice pub, off the beaten track but worth seeking out for aficionados of excellent ales & ciders. What you get; a real ale bar with 9 pumps, 3 or more ciders, friendly & knowledgeable staff, good food, good music & an easy atmosphere. What you don't get ; dramas of any kind, just great times, great beers & great service.

In brief; Great beer. Real Ale. A real old fashioned pub. These were the kind of pubs we all used to drink in and are sadly getting rare.

9 handpumps largely featuring local brews, plus real ciders. All well-kept. Friendly staff. Cosy old street corner local at the end of a Victorian terrace. Live music as well!A great little "locals pub". Owner also has a microbrewery and pub has beer festivals from time to time.

This is how a pub should be ! A short walk from the centre of the town, and very worth while. Always a good selection of proper beer that is kept to a high standard, and has it's own beer and cider festivals. As if that is'nt enough, they also are a super venue for musicians. The venue has featured some great artists, acoustic/electric, folk/rock, and poets can take the stage as well. If you're in Maidstone and like the old style of pubs, choose this one. The food is good and staff friendly. Actually, on second thoughts I would prefer to keep this pub to myself - so please don't go there, stay away and leave it for the locals !

Took my elderly mother in law with other family plus dog for Friday lunch. We were extremely warmly received by Erol and had a lovely table near the roaring fire. First off, the local brew was one of the best. Had the home baked bread as a nibble with our drinks. It was made with charcoal and flour but light and airy with a fab flavour and served with homemade herb butter (Erol grows and dries his own oregano!) I had the fish and chips. Fresh Pollock (sustainable 👍) in a light crisp batter which was cooked to perfection and the chips perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. 11 out of 10! We also had the spicy chicken wings which were finger licking good. My mother in law had homemade celeriac soup which was utterly delicious. It’s not often that after I eat out I feel the urge to write a glowing review but The Harrow and our wonderful experience made me feel the need. Definitely going back for more.

My first visit but it won’t be my last? I’m not one for superlatives but the chicken shish was delicious moist and tender but still had crispy edges. The salad was crispy the chips fluffy centre and crispy outside the whole meal superb. Try it you will not be disappointed 10/10
