Lady on the phone got our order wrong. We rung asking her if they could re deliver. She told us to make sure we could order it correctly next time!
We had to walk over in the snow to collect the right food and lose delivery costs. When we got home the order was still incorrect
This was a 5* experience but for the rather slow drinks service and the inclusion on the bill of a 10% service charge (which we would have added anyway). To be fair, the bill clearly noted that the charge could be amended.
We felt that the £20.50 carvery was excellent in value and quality. One of our group opted for a main menu choice and we were impressed that the delivery of this was synchronized with the 3 carvery tickets.
Recommended.
A plesant surprise, we're not locals and were passing at lunch time and needed a snack. Well the Red wine was surperb, along with the starter and Pizza, thin just as my wife likes it. Every table was reserved, which was a good sign to us, we could only be served as we were not staying long.
This Pub deserves 5 stars.
My surprise birthday lunch was here. Reservations required as the place is very popular. Awesome Sunday roast dinners - a wide selection to choose from. Staff friendly, helpful and pop by frequently to see we were alright and chat. Great local knowledge, we had some good laughs. Good menu selection available. Food hot, tasty and colourful nicely cooked veg. Thank you. Highly reommended.
ordered a kung po chicken , egg fried rice and salt and chilli pepper chicken. i believe it took less than 15 minutes for the whole order to be prepared. food tasted really good and quite worth for its price (20£) as I’ve got half left over and im quite a big eater. The kung po chicken doesn't really taste like the authentic ones I’ve had and leans towards the sweet and sour side but it still tastes good nonetheless. Will definitely be back
(a bag of prawn crackers was also given)
Having only just walked in we were asked to leave by an elderly woman who worked there as we had a buggy. It was no problem however there was probably no need for her to be rude about it and no need to continue mumbling under her breath about us especially given the pub was empty. We made our way a short way down the hill to the King's Head who were very welcoming.

We got a takeaway recently from Shangri La.
The lady behind the counter was so friendly and welcoming. We gave her my name and straight away she knew the order and confirmed it back to us! She was very chatty and helpful.
The food didn’t take long either. It was ready within 15 mins of ordering. We ordered some Thai food which was very tasty!
We will be ordering from them again!!!

Service was slow, not the staffs fault but once we actually did order it was quick enough! There's not many veggie options and they didn't have some stuff available.
They didn't read back my order so think they charged us extra for some stuff (also don't get an itemised receipt so can't prove it, not ideal) and £1.50 for a pot of sauce is a bit of a rip off tbh
It's a shame because the boileroom used to do amazing food, the noodles were to die for but the current kitchen menu is a bit meh. It's good to have something rather than nothing though.
After walking with girlfriend and her trusty Beagle through woods and a military firing range in full swing, we crossed over the canal and stopped at her local The Swan in Ash Vale.
Only planning on a quick half and glass of wine, with the genuine warmth of Tony, the chap behind the bar, this super welcoming encounter lead to our ordering a couple of rare rumps and a pair of organic wines to follow a tasty winter Ale from Green King. The wines were an English still White from Chapel Down made with Bacchus variety grapes and a rich, smooth Aussie Shiraz.
Fitting us in without booking at a high table and stools, he asked if he could bring dog treats and water. On return he suggested a more comfortable table in the restaurant in view of the healthily burning oak wood fire and we were lost in that feeling of being in a country pub but in a Surrey town.
Having in a former life run a CAMRA winning independent pub, I felt it worth writing something that I’ve always believed in, that a good pub is all about its people. A warm and professional attitude can elevate a pub to a proper local to feel at home in.
We will be back and thanks to Tony for his seemingly effortless hospitality that goes far.
