Family dinner for 3 on 27 Feb. Took advantage of February offer with Premium Country Pub (40% off mains). A most enjoyable dining evening promoted this review. Not been for a while. Nice table. Excellent professional and attentive friendly service by our waiter (sorry didn’t take his name). We had mains and desserts. All had steaks. My surf n turf fillet was superb, cooked to perfection (medium rare) as requested, full of flavour, well presented. The other medium rare fillet was also enjoyed, as was the large tender rib eye. Tasty side veg extras also perfectly cooked, presented and enjoyed. Apple tart dessert and ice creams. Nice cosy atmosphere, clean table, appetising and tasty food, nice wines, and served with a smile - what a treat!

Popped in for coffee and hot chocolate but will never be going back. I didn’t see how the hot chocolate was made but I can honestly say it was the worst ever had, just hot water poured onto chocolate powder and not stirred properly. No milk, no froth, no taste, and quite a small cup. The wife said the coffee was not up to much either.

I was meeting a friend of mine who was staying with her son, so I wanted to find somewhere local to have lunch. Having done a Google search, I came across The Seahorse and decided to book table. A very pleasant place to visit, with plenty of parking onsite. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, with the food being very good indeed. Whilst I don’t live locally, I would be willing to drive over and have food here again anytime. Great atmosphere, and on a cold, damp, dark lunchtime, bring seated by an open fire was an absolute treat. Definitely will be back, even if on my own.

Nice foodie pub, which served us a very nice valentines day meal. Service from Kevin was superb, food could have been just a little warmer but was still good. We will be back. Note, looks like dogs are welcome, although we did not bring ours. 👍

I went today for valentines with my partner. Callum (our sever) was truly an asset to the company. He was attentive to our needs. The food was as great, we will come again.

Visited here a few weeks ago for dinner. Lovely pub with lots of parking. Our server, Becky, was very attentive and walked us through the menu! The cocktails were delicious, especially the spritz. Food was hot and tasted amazing, worth the price. Highly recommend!

We stopped for lunch whilst walking the beautiful North Downs. A large fronted establishment facing onto the main road with an unprepossessing entrance around the side. Once through the door you are welcomed with a large central bar surrounded by a number of rooms some laid out for dining but plenty of room for drinks in the bar area. Only one cask ale on offer the day we visited, but it was well conditioned and served by friendly staff. We ate in the bar from choice .. lots of character ... If a little dark. The belly pork was excellent. Service quick. Worth another visit. A little expensive ... But it is Surrey!

Good value food. Also, a bonus for the EV charging facility in the car park, which can be a bit temperamental though.

Honestly of the best experiences i've had, the food was spectacular and exceeded my expectations and Lewis has been an absolute sweetheart to my entire family.

Food and atmosphere all ok, as you would expect from a up market chain of restaurants. The staff can make or break a premises and the tall barman, I think his name was Tom certainly helps make the Seahorse a place to return to, professional, attentive and very likeable. On a separate note my wife and daughter were more taken with how good looking he was. Many thanks to all for a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.

Absolute lovely dining experience. We were served by a young chap with curly hair called Lewis who was very attentive and made sure we were always catered for👍. All the food was delicious so really do try as much as you can. Everytime I think “heavens above” as us old folk like to say, when in fact it's right in front of me on that plate.

My husband and I took our family to the seahorse and we couldn’t have had a better time! The food was amazing and the staff were super attentive, particularly our server Lewis!

Great food, great beer. Visited for a Sunday roast and got one, wow. Possibly short staffed as it was very busy. Little things like no condiments on the table, didn't take the menus away, leaving the table cluttered. Saying that, they all did very well. Will return for sure.

Really nice late solo lunch after a final work meeting in the morning. Had been recommended this venue by four of the very nice staff at The Grantley Arms, the evening before. Starter of Mushrooms was delicious and outstanding. Plant Burger main was very good. Excellent service throughout by highly fastidious young member of staff, Darwin. A very good lunch.

Thank you so much for a perfect late family lunch on Boxing Day. The food was delicious and the service was brilliant, very sweet staff. It is very rare to have such a great experience locally, especially as a large party!! We will be back.

Our Christmas dinner at this restaurant was far below average, and I left feeling very disappointed, especially considering how overpriced it was. To start with, our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, and we had to wait nearly 30 minutes. Despite the menu promising bread, butter and accompaniments on arrival, none was offered to us and from looking around it didnt seem any table received this. The starter was bland and completely failed to live up to expectations—it didn’t even contain most of the ingredients listed on the menu like the prawns, crab,capers or the gremola crumb, it was just the scallops in a bland a cream sauce. Things didn’t improve with the main course. I specifically chose this restaurant for the Beef Wellington, but it was overcooked, chewy, and lacked any of the quality I was hoping for. To make matters worse, there was no stuffing, despite it being advertised. The vegetables were clearly boiled not roasted and lacked flavor, according to the rest of the table. I personally didnt try the veg as there wasn’t enough for everyone at the table. Each course took an unreasonably long time to arrive, which only made the experience worse. While the gravy was tasty (a small silver lining), it wasn’t enough to save what was otherwise a complete letdown. Given the steep price, I expected much more from this restaurant. The extremely slow service, lack of attention to detail, and disappointing food left me feeling let down on what should have been a special afternoon. I wouldn’t recommend this place for Christmas dinner. Its unlikely I will be coming back to this restaurant again.

I had been to the seahorse many years ago and it was very good. I now have to come to Guildford hospital at least once a month so in September we came to you for the first time for many years and the service and the meal was very good so we booked another meal and then we had a pre-Christmas meal with you and then today had our Christmas meal. Today I was totally the opposite of the past very disappointed in the service. You were half an hour late taking us to our table and the service from there was very slow. We were with you for just over three hours which I don’t find to be acceptable. The starter was good but very slow to come out and then we waited quite a while before our main course came out, this was disappointing as there was very few vegetables. We had two sprouts each one piece of carrot each and one piece of parsnip. Once we finished this then there was then a further 35 minute wait for our pudding to come out and I had to chase the waiter at that point to receive this. This was our first meal out at Christmas ever and it hasn’t made us want to come back to you at Christmas again. We will be revisiting and see if the experiences we’ve had before will be continued but I am left feeling very disappointed along with my wife and son that came with us today.

We had an amazing family Christmas meal here. The festive atmosphere was perfect, and the staff made us feel so welcome. The food was outstanding—delicious turkey with all the trimmings and incredible desserts. Everything was beautifully organized, making it a stress-free and memorable day. Highly recommend for a magical Christmas celebration!

We booked our Xmas Day lunch based on our prior experience at this pub/restaurant (3x Sunday lunches). We paid £450 (excluding drinks and service) for the Xmas meal and, unfortunately, it was distinctly average. The menu stated we would be served artisan rustic breads with salted butter, tomato tapenade and house pesto. This course wasn't served at all! From what we could see, no table received this course. STARTER: The scallops in the thermidor were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the sauce lacked flavour and there was no crab, as stated in the menu. The soup was slightly watery. No hint of pesto, as stated in the menu. Could have been a delicious, creamy, butternut squash soup but ....... nope! MAIN: Turkey was moist and plentiful. The menu stated it would be accompanied by lemon and thyme stuffing - it wasn't. The beef wellington was dry and the veg was boiled, not roasted. It arrived over 5 minutes after our mains. The gravy was flavoursome and plentiful. DESSERT: The chocolate bomb was OK. The dulce de leche sauce did not materialise. Chocolate sauce was served instead. It wasn't warm enough to melt the chocolate dome when poured over it. The sponge inside the dome was cold. The menu stated whipped cream would be served and this was absent. Margherita and espresso martini cocktails were excellent. We were seated 20 minutes later than we had booked. This had implications for our pre-booked taxi home. Had the pub served their usual Sunday fair, we would have left more than satisfied. However, the Xmas meal was overpriced and average at best. Why state ingredients in the menu and then fail to deliver?! We were rooting for this pub to deliver a great experience, based on our previous meals, and we would have happily returned year after year, however, unfortunately, we are not willing to pay in excess of £650 (including drinks) for mediocre food.

Not very happy paying £51 for a bottle of wine and not being told how much it was untill the bill come so I feel that it was not right for that to happen so that put a damper on the evening

Served a burger that I wouldn’t feed to my dog. If you can’t do that right I won’t be trying anything else on the menu. Overpriced and just another chain masquerading as a “gastro pub” I was refunded and the staff were nice enough. Don’t waste your money on their food Update: they told me the would contact me to to discuss this, I tried to get in touch and left my details. They called me back once but I couldn’t answer as I was working and they sent me voucher via email. Compensation is great but they’re not going to make the burger better by giving their customers hush money

Fabulous bottomless brunch. The goats cheese tartin is a must. Also, thanks to Callum for being an amazing host, brilliant service.

The Seahorse in Shalford is usually a reliable place for quick business lunch. The fish and chips last Wednesday was way off the usual standard - overcooked fish and soggy inedible batter. Nice serving staff and ambiance though, and it is usually better than this so I'll try again.

Garden abit run down but lovely staff

We had lunch as a large extended family group. The service was excellent and could not have been better. All of the food was delicious and well presented, apart from one main dish that was not great. However, when we informed the staff member who served us, they immediately offered to replace it or give us a free dessert, in the end the cost of the meal was removed from our bill. Overall the dining experience was wonderful, the food was tasty and well presented and the staff were great. We will definitely return and I would definitely recommend The Seahorse.

Been going here for over 15 years and have previously given 5 stars. However, today was a poor experience. 5pm on a Saturday, there are only about 7 tables, however, a number of tables not cleared or cleaned. Took 30mins from ordering to getting food. Had to chase the children's food. When the food arrived, no cutlery so had to go back and ask for that. No salt and pepper or offer of mayo etc. Children's sausage was burnt, mushroom risotto had peas in it which wasn't advertised. Unfortunately it just felt like no one really cared. Even when mentioning to someone we hadnt got any cutlery, the response was 'someone else is getting that'

We used to come here a lot with our kids and always found the food great and the staff friendly but the last few times we have been disappointed - our kids were given one small sausage for the kids meals and when we questioned this being a bit unfair the waitress said she would find out if this was standard and then never came back -

We came last Saturday and had an amazing time. The service was very good, our waitress Leti took very good care of us, and we really enjoyed the food. Definitely recommend:)

Lovely pub, nice roast dinner and decent size car park!

Our last two visits have been big disappointments. Both times we have waited over an hour for our main courses - and most recently that was crazy. We arrived at about 5pm, ,there were only two tables occupied including our own. A table of 4, and our table of 5. But it was 6:45pm before our mains arrived. The food is great - but that kind of service is simply unacceptable. And we weren't offered _any_ discount this time - so I guess we won't go back. A shame really - because it was previously a favorite of ours.

Caroline was excellent - very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was exactly as expected for this area and price but when we said we had a theatre booked they pulled it out quickly. Will be back for a drink, we are sure!

Great food with excellent delivery.

My parents and I went there early Sunday evening and had the worst meal and service. The young barman showed us to a table in the side room as we had a dog. From the start he was abrupt in his manner. There was nothing left on the menu so very little to choose from. The starters were ok and the wine was good. The mains were awful. The chips and the burger were completely cold. We waited but no one came so I went up to the bar and they sent out more which were only warm. I’ve had better burgers from a burger van/ and they weren’t £16 !! The bill came and they were mildly apologetic. They had taken the chips off the bill . It was an incredibly disappointing evening

Although a lovely spacious restaurant, we ordered lunch and it was not well cooked (meat), the salad very mushy and a very strange taste to the fish. Also hairs in the meal! For the price we paid and no discount for the bad meal we certainly won't be eating here again!

The service on a Saturday night was great, very friendly staff and the food was amazing. We had the chicken and scallops to start with a steak for our main. Will be back!

The Mac and cheese tasted better out of a can at home.
