Disappointed with our family visit to Yo Sushi in Guildford this evening. As we walked past Wagamama on the way to our meal, they had a long queue coming out of the door. I worried therefore that Yo Sushi might be similarly busy, early on a Saturday evening. Not so! The restaurant was completely empty. On entering we stood at the ‘welcome’ sign for a good couple of minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Eventually a rather surly waitress showed us to a table. On the way to our table we walked past tables that were filthy and there was rubbish on the floor (which wasn’t picked up during our visit). We waited a fair while for a drinks order to be taken. The couple of waiting staff seemed more interested in the orders for collection / delivery of which there seemed to be lots. To be fair, we enjoyed the sushi but at £120.00 for a family of three, this was an expensive outing for a distinctly underwhelming experience. Should have gone to Wagamamas!

We arrived 30 mins before they closed & they did not make us feel even remotely unwelcome. They were so attentive, went the extra mile. Food was unreal, my little girl got to try some new foods she hasn’t tried before & we just loved our visit so much. Chipo was our server and she is a DIAMOND. We are so grateful for your kindness. so bad - a handful of tired looking items on the conveyor belt, so ordered off the menu. The rice was boiled to within an inch of its life and the sushi was warm (kept in the fridge?). Had to ask repeatedly for a.) drinks to be taken b.) wasabe to be filled up c.) cutlery d.) rubbish to be cleared off the floor. Am historically a big Yo Sushi fan, but this has left me thinking, i wont be going again. Expensive and bad.

Portion is small, so small the soup has covered all the contents in the bowl. The seafood ramen tastes horrible, salty like boiled water and soya sauce. And the sushi trays are DEFINETELY NOT WORTH the price. Overall overpriced for small portion below mediocre food.

Food was functional, nothing particularly good or bad, just not very good quality. Meat consistency was soft as though it was processed or had been frozen cooked and reheated, not good. Sushi was room temperature. Service is so slow, table turnaround was unexplicably long despite lengthy queue. The app was agonizing and eventually had to order in person which involved getting the attention of limited staff. Overall a pretty poor experience.

What on earth has happened to, once upon a time such a vibrant, energetic venue. 5 of us Went out for dinner for my daughters birthday (her chosen place), easily going to be a £80-100 meal. After 10 minutes of trying to navigate the app trying to find items, with no service offered we up and left. No one in there apart from us and still no upselling or interaction. I couldn’t spend my money there knowing that it was a special event for my daughter’s 17th birthday, and knowing service was not going to be provided. A couple of doors down Wagamama’s is full, instant service and a much cleaner and vibrant atmosphere. Happy to send my hard earned money there instead.

I used to love coming to Yo Sushi in Guildford. Used to be lovely and clean and the animated noises you used to hear through the speakers was always a laugh. They seem to have got rid of that now and they just play normal music. When I went the other day the plates my food came on were filthy. There were flies around and the food is so overpriced for what it is now. Such a shame Yo Sushi used to be fun.

Went on a Saturday Lunchtime (Saturday 11th November). They had 2 members of staff working the floor with with a queue out of the door. Had to ask multiple time for our drinks/the bill. Waitresses seemed largely unbothered in actually doing their jobs. The food was okay, but have had better sushi out of Waitrose (I’ve never had Sashimi which wasn’t an even cut across the whole length)

I came in this afternoon (23rd August) with my 2 young children around 1pm we were greeted by a lovely waitress who sat us down and explained everything as it was our first time, however the other waitress who I believe to be indian, I didn't get her name was constantly swearing behind us saying things like 'oh for f**k sake' and why are these people so f*****g irritating' which I found to be quite off putting especially with my children next to me. It's such a shame because my children loved the belt system, and the food was delicious especially the spicy pepper squid. I don't know if I would return if that waitress was there, I do think that management need to do an investigation into that waitress as her behaviour was totally unacceptable for a family based restaurant.

Haven’t been in a while and all I’m wondering is what happened?! I used to love it here pre pandemic and come often, we found it to be a really pleasant experience but it’s so different now. To start, the atmosphere in here is a bit dire. The floors are FILTHY, cupboards broken, it all looks really tired. Two waitresses working today need some serious training - messing around on their phone instead of serving customers. Unfriendly and frankly, dreadful. The workers cooking the food are much more friendly and hard working. The food generally is quite salty and not nearly as good as it used to be. Used to feel relatively healthy and have more of a sushi focus, now more fried, salty foods. Hardly anything goes round the conveyor belt now, just a few bits of sushi. It’s expensive for what you get. We eat out often and this has to be the worst experience we’ve had in Guildford. Everything that was fun about yo is no longer there. I definitely will not be returning. Note to manager: some serious staff training is needed here. Staff should be sweeping the floor and taking care of customers, not messing around on their phone. We came on Sunday at 5pm

@yo sushi - please stop packaging cold wet cans at the bottom of delivery bags. The paper bags get wet and break and the delivery drivers continue to deliver food that has fallen out of the bag. I suspect this will go on deaf ears but one can only hope. 🙄

As a family we have seen many changes to Yo as a result of COVID. The restaurant has coped so well with the changes and we had really liked the version of Yo where you order via the QR code on your phone and there is a traffic light system, with the food stopping at your table. This was great, along with a few nice things going round on the belt. Our daughter loved it and thought it was magic and the food was always good. We visited on Thursday and had such a disappointing visit. The servers seemed mostly focused on dealing with Deliveroo drivers, the ordering system glitched and we had our food order duplicated, the food was really poor (no chilli in the veggie fire cracker rice, or veg) asked for ginger and wasabi but it never came, the edamame beans had no salt and the sushi was poor. There were 3 items on the belt going round and round. We are gutted as this was such a brilliant place to take our daughter. We hope that the magic is brought back and that you can return to the system where you order and it arrives to your table on the belt, along with service that is great. You were brilliant, especially for families and we have visited many times, but we are now not sure if we will return.

While the gyoza were tasty - 3 to a plate seemed v stingey. The ramen was apparently good…the poke bowl was missing two of the jngedients on the menu but otherwise “ok”…The sushi was tiny, with translucent slices of fish over the ngiri…so disappointing.
