THE IVY ASIA, GUILDFORD in Guildford

Went here for my mother's birthday recently and it was lovely. The food was gorgeous, the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough.

First visit here and blown away by the decor and opulence...! Sadly though, after waiting some time for our booked table, we felt rushed by the waiter and ordered (now regretfully) the £48pp experience menu. Quite a bland selection in our opinion. Only 4 prawns and 1 chicken breast alongside plates and plates of veg/leaves etc. Fair enough - we ordered the wrong meal but it was also the service (lack of) that disappointed us. Constantly asking for drinks/water/cutlery. Never checked in on us during any course. No personal touch at all. The ice cream was served with a fork and then had almost melted by the time they found a spoon..! It's just not good enough. We did speak to the manager who removed £17.50 from the bill as a goodwill gesture but then still added a service charge...! Such a shame as we were really excited prior to our visit.

Went for my daughters birthday. The food was good, and the guy behind the bar was great, but £20 for a gin & tonic is a complete rip-off! I also didn't appreciate the happy guy serving us adjusting his junk in the front of his trousers within the restaurant and then carrying on serving without washing his hands! A service charge was also added to the bill so you will need deep pockets.

Mo is an excellent waiter/manager, he was very accommodating and friendly. We could also see he was friendly to other staff members, especially the one he was training which is great to see. He was excellent and food was great. Thank you Mo🥰

Delicious with great fan fair. A must eat destination for everyone. Book ahead! The food is all great so use it as an opportunity to try new things. Watch out for the Samurai in the toilet!

My daughter and I had a lovely afternoon tea at Ivy Asia. The decor is beautiful, the food was delicious. Usually with afternoon noon tea, the tea is free flowing so we were surprised to be charged extra. The lady at reception was warm welcoming and friendly. Would definitely go again.

Food is always amazing, never disappoints. Service was of a high standard and the dj was playing some great Latin chilled house music, which was really good too. Our kids loved it, it was their first time here and they can’t wait to come back.

The furnishing at The Ivy Asia is 'opulent' to say the least, minimalistic is not a word that comes to mind. The service is really good. The food is good, but not exquisite and quite expensive. The house was almost full on a Tuesday evening, so the experience it presents seems to fill a gap in the market.

I am delighted with the décor of this restaurant, but something I want to highlight is the excellent customer service I received from Chef Paul. His attention was outstanding, and I greatly appreciate the drink recommendations he gave me. Without a doubt, this is the perfect place to enjoy with your family.

Beautiful restaurant, decor is amazing. For the price I felt the food was lacking . We had a high tea with friends & I was hungry on the way home! The food was presented well - I did enjoy the experience but wouldn't rush back

It was ok, busy on a Saturday night and we were seated 30 mins late to our table. Service was OK, nothing wow'd and a bit rushed as we had the set menu so they had to get everything out before closing. Obviously the decor is nice and the restaurant is popular so fun for a Saturday night out. But not wow.

Brilliant food but the service is bad. I took my wife for a birthday lunch but we couldn't even have dessert because the food took so long to come. I ate my starter alone, then we had to ask for hers. When she finally got hers they brought mine again? Once she had finished her starter the long wait for mains began, but they brought her sushi starter again. Lots of confusion between waiters talking. Finally we got our mains from the set menu, they were delicious. This had all taken 1h45 now so we had to skip dessert or coffee.

I organised a private dining event for 22 people and it was immense. Decor, service and ambience were outstanding and the food, the food was exceptional. Credit to the front of house and the kitchen for a brilliant evening.

Abbiamo cenato in questo stupendo locale, completamente decorato con fiori (purtroppo finti), piccole lanterne, pavimenti in pietra. Il tavolo è apparecchiato deliziosamente. Il menù alla carte offre molta scelta (i camerieri sono molto competenti e consigliano cosa e quanto ordinare). Abbiamo gustato spiedini di wagyu, gamberi in tempura, insalata di avocado e dei gustosissimi involtini con anatra. Ho assaggiato due cocktails ed erano abbinati perfettamente alla mia cena e non troppo forti. Ottima esperienza!

Food was faultless, most cocktails were good (apart from a green one that was like washing up liquid water). Waiter started clearing our plates before we’d finished to make room for someone else which spoilt the experience for us somewhat. With that being said, the food was good enough that I would return - and the decor is stunning as always with The Ivy.

This review is based on the afternoon tea. It’s a beautiful venue with backlit tiled floor and a nice theme throughout. The low ceiling means that it can be quite a noisy venue. The food was nice. Very well presented but taste wise we found it average. Service is what The Ivy usually excels at but in this instance it was disappointing. We were sat at the table for 35 minutes and throughout that time we only had tap water. No hot drink was even offered until we mentioned it. We were given two afternoon tea vouchers as a gift and since receiving this gift, there was a price increase for the afternoon tea which the Ivy Asia tried to pass on to us which we found unfair so they agreed to take the additional cost off the Bill. The table next to us were charged for additional food that they didn’t have so perhaps a little more attention to detail is required here. I would like to return to The Ivy Asia and see what the main menu is like. I would not return for an afternoon tea and I feel we were just unlucky with the poor service because the tables either side of us arrived after us yet got their drinks before us so it was clearly a blip. Myself and my partner like to rate our experiences when we go out for food and we agreed that the food and service was a 6.5/10

A wonderful evening. We sat at the Bar so were serviced by one of the bartenders who became a part of our evening. Top notch food.

Excellent atmosphere and great food one of the best places to eat in Guildford. We visited for my mums birthday and they really looked after us.

A nice lunch somewhat spoilt by the haphazard approach to the potential seriousness of allergies! We were asked if either of us had an allergy and informed the staff of a particular allergy one of us has. The staff were very good at assisting us in our food choices with that in mind. However, when each dish was served we were told that there was a possibility of it being contaminated with said allergen because they have an OPEN kitchen! We therefore could not fully enjoy our meal without the worry of an allergic reaction. It seems rather strange and potentially dangerous to ask clients if they have an allergy and then be unable to avoid serving potentially contaminated food.

We had an amazing meal at the Ivy Asia in Guildford. The service was sensational and the food was incredible. We enjoyed watching Paul make his delicious dishes and was delighted to be served the incredible food he created. He and the team looked after us very well.

My wife and I had the best time celebrating my birthday at Ivy Asia. We are completely looked after by our brilliant Chef, Paul. He gives amazing recommendations and is an all round quality guy. When you go to Ivy Asia in Guildford, make sure you have Paul looking after you!

5 star for our waiter Yousef ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ he’s amazing & humble throughout the whole dining! It’s our first time we ordered a lots but with the help of Yousef we managed but still have to take some left over home with a luxurious box ❤️ Our food Salmon shiso leafs, beef tataki , the Ivy roll, duck pancake and cocktails Thai green curry was amazing & delicious throughout and we shared vanilla crème brûlée (sake barrel) it’s so yummy and light sweet 😋 We had an amazing experience on our Valentine’s Day ❤️

We ordered 4 x Premium Menu. We are extremely disappointed with the food and service we received. The food was very mediocre. Strangely they served the black cod and the beef dish together. One main member of staff had provided a satisfactory service, We had to prompt him to serve our wine when our glasses were empty. Whilst the main male staff was not insight, other member of staff seem to be non existent to which we struggled to grab their attention on numerous occasions. We paid a large tip which we regret. Staff did not perform well and did not thanked us for coming and did not say goodbye, although they saw us leave. It’s extremely disappointing! Food and service needs a huge improvement!! We not be recommending nor returning.

We had the most delightful evening at The Ivy Asia for our first wedding anniversary. The food and service were impeccable, a big thank you to Sara who went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely evening!

We went to celebrate a birthday and were seated at the sushi station. We had the Odyssey menu, and it was fantastic. Good quality and very filling. Special thanks to Chef Paul, who went out of his way to make the occasion extra special. Definitely recommend!

1st time here celebrating my daughter's birthday - it was good but not great. Food tasted great, but portions sometimes very small (as expected), and very expensive (as we thought it would be). Service was attentive, but they forgot the odd dish, drink order etc. We were told the 1/2 crispy duck would feed 2-4 people, but it only fed 2 (so some of us missed out). Overall it was great for a special occasion, the decor and atmosphere was great, but felt overall it could have been a bit better, considering the price. Wouldn't rush back.

The atmosphere and interior design is amazing in Ivy Asia, but the food is awful. So overpriced for what you are getting. It’s basically what people who know nothing about Asian cooking think Asian food should taste like. Please do yourself a favour and try other more authentic Asian restaurants in Guildford, you’ll spend half the money for t food twice as delicious.

Firstly I must say the food was lovely, fresh, tasty and delicious. The service really let's this place down, drinks taking 20-30 mons to arrive and wrong dishes being brought to our table multiple times - this was happening the the table around us too. I was so looking forward to coming here but left disappointed.

We usually come to the Ivy Asia for lunch. We went for dinner on Saturday and was appalled by the food we had duck spring rolls and tempura prawns for starters. They both tasted bang average the duck spring rolls were dry and tasted as if they had come out of the freezer from iceland. The prawns were covered in thick soggy greasy batter and had no taste We was very disappointed. We was then hoping our mains would be better. The pork belly we ordered came out cold. And the black cod which is usually my favourite tasted way to fishy compared to usual by this point we both didnt feel well off the food so we sent it back. The waitresses were lovely and took it off the bill for us as we both had one mouthful. We then proceeded to leave the restaurant and literally 2 minutes away from the restaurant on the walk back to the car by partner was violently sick in the bush. I dont know what they fed us but it was not good!! Will definitely not be returning.

Celebrated at Ivy Asia recently with a friend and had a fantastic experience, particularly with our server, Archa. She was so polite and kind and just overall amazing. The vibes with the DJ playing while we sat outside on your terrace was also really lovely. Thank you for a memorable night!

A lovely restaurant but sadly the service was sadly poor when we went for a meal on Saturday 24th August. It certainly wasn't worth the 13.5% added to out bill. I also should have sent my meal back as it was luke warm and served on a cold plate. The wait time for desserts was half an hour.

We came here today at 8pm for our anniversary dinner, very busy but we were seated within 10 minutes. James our waiter was fantastic, very polite and helpful.

Great place. Would highly recommend if you would like an up market restaurant In guildford. We stayed there from 6pm till it basically closed. Service and food was great. Premium tasting menu was good

The food was incredible and very good for vegetarians! The waiters were very welcoming and efficient. The only criticism I have is we had the vegetarian experience and Ivy asia premium experience and some of the waiters didn’t know whose food was for who, making it confusing for us, especially having two vegetarians.

We came to the Ivy Asia Guildford with our 4 day old baby. After 10 months without sushi it was time to celebrate. The whole team were so accommodating but our waitress Shona went the extra mile for us. She was a bubbling personality full of the charm and charisma that makes the Ivy Asia what it is. Thank you to Shona and the team for a wonderful dining experience. The food and service were fantastic. We cannot wait to come back in the near future.

Lovely place but as expected with a lovely price

Very average food, drinks and service for the prices they charge. Bland tasting food and mediocre cocktails and incredibly slow service. It was very quiet when I was there with a group and there were more staff than customers - however our food arrived before our drinks, took ages to get requested cutlery and were never offered dessert menus. It is nicely decorated and the toilets are swish but that's it for me. Good for social media photos I suppose.

The decor in here is amazing, the cocktails are delicious and a huge selection. They have a great section of non-alcoholic options. It is a sharing style, and we did the Ivy Asia Premium Experience which was very good value for money at £65 pp.

Came here for my birthday and was absolutely amazing! Nick was so friendly and helpful, offering recommendations as it was our first time visiting. The food was incredible (especially the gochujang chicken and the popcorn shrimp), and was even given some mocchi with a candle to celebrate! Couldn’t imagine a better place to spend a special occasion!

We just want to say the service was unreal and the food was fantastic, our waiter Shona, her customer service skills were great, she really made our experience.

Superb food and Lola who was our waitress was really good and made the whole evening really special. Front of house could have been quicker finding our reservation on the computer and seating us though.

Sent for my birthday meal, seated downstairs very nice, place is beautiful for taking pictures. The staff were all fantastic and very welcoming. Visited the bar upstairs again not one complaint. Food portions are good lychee martini was 10/10 highly recommended.

Apologies in advance for the review but I'm being honest for those people who want to go here for a special occasion: don't. I went a few years ago it was lovely. THEN.. Went last weekend, booked in advance- got there on time for my friend's pre wedding dinner. We were told we only had 30 mins to get mains as they were fully booked!! Not my problem if they omitted to come to our table earlier. Save to say we went to the Thai Terrace for mains. Ivy Asia food was nice, but hospitality was not in line with the Asian hospitality i have experienced in the countries from which the food they serve originates,so whilst it looks aesthetically pleasing it lacks authenticity. Extremely disappointed having to take my friend elsewhere. They should be more concerned about serving customers on time rather than rushing them off disheartened. Bad planning, will not return for a special occasion as its not worth it for the poor time management. Thankfully the other restaurant was so understanding at short notice 🙏🏻 extremely embarrassing evening as my friend travelled from far to be with us for this dinner.

Terrible service - Went in for a drink, when we were sat they decided not to tell us we had to leave 30 minutes after we were sat. we had just received our food and told we had to leave when we tried to order another drink. Used to come here quite often but will not be back again - avoid.

Last time we went, we were so disappointed. Food wasn’t as good and service was poor. We ordered a few bits and then said we might order some more once we’d eaten them and the waitress said of course. She came back after about 10 mins and we were basically told we had to choose quickly as there were other people waiting for our table. We’d literally been their 45 mins. Ruined our night and we spent over £180 so not impressed

The decor is really lovely and the floor is amazing. We opted for the experience menu and the food was fantastic. The black cod especially was phenomenal. The only part of the menu that was disappointing was the dessert. Soft serve ice cream and donuts with popping candy and chocolate sauce is the kind of dessert you can get on a kids menu at an average high street restaurant for £5. It wasn't very special and definitely did not align with the rest of the food. A very odd choice for the menu. The staff were very attentive and pleasant although it was nearly impossible to hear anything they were saying to us as the music was so loud. I understand loud music and a live dj in a bar. But it was a bit much for a high caliber restaurant and would have been more enjoyable if the music was turned down slightly. There were only 2 female toilets also, which meant a long wait.

What a horrible experience in this place.. It’s an expensive restaurant but it was worst than the normal restaurant.. The tables were so close to each other literally 15cm , you can literally hear conversations from next table.. The food were so expensive but what a horrible taste especially the drinks 🤢 Paid 15£ for a drink 🤢

My partner and I had our two year anniversary lunch here and it was fabulous! A special mention to our waitress Shona who was really friendly and attentive (but not overbearing!) and really made the experience for us. The food was absolutely delicious presented really well and it felt like a VIP experience for us, and they even brought out a complimentary dessert for our celebrations. Overall, I highly recommend the Ivy Asia in Guildford for friendly, efficient service, delicious food and a luxurious atmosphere!!

Amazing atmosphere, the price was reasonable for the quality and the amount of the food which was superb. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have a hankering for Asian cuisine.

We have dined here several times. The food and atmosphere are excellent but the service was definitely lacking at our last visit; our server looked bored throughout and lacked hospitality, he seemed more interested in doodling on his notepad than engaging with us and didn’t thank us for paying or offer a receipt at the end, just took the card payment (including 13.5% service charge) and walked off, which surprised us all. The food was excellent; we always enjoy the silver shell. Not sure if we will return here.

Our first visit to this restaurant. Amazing from start to finish , sara our host was fabulous . Explaining the menu and how it work , we chose the premium set menu and struggled to eat it all. Thankfully no body was offended when we couldn't finish it all .

I went here for my birthday yesterday, and had done so 2 years ago too. Everything is lovely from the food, staff and service, and actually reasonably priced for what you get and the quality. We were looked after by Shona who was great and helped us pick some dishes to, so please pass on our thanks to her.
