My wife and I just sampled the Kirthon menu and everything we had was simply superb! It is very rare to experience such amazingly tender chicken - in the chicken tikka starter and the speciality main Sylheti Murgh - which were both quite outstanding and delicious. We can also recommend the sheek kebab and the chicken makhani, which my wife had. We have been before, some time ago, but had forgotten quite how good this place is. Well worth going!

The food is passable and overpriced. £6.50 for ONE sausage and some oven chips (not even homemade) as a kid's meal is outrageous. The slice of Clandon pie (sausage meat with cranberry sauce and sage) was okay but not worth £19. The lamb roast, with only 3 thin slices of lamb, wasn't worth the high price either. The atmosphere was the sort of warmth you can expect in an old pub, although it could do with some music.

Since moving to the village over a decade ago, this is the only place we ever buy Chinese or Fish and Chips from. The food is fresh, cooked to order, caters to my foibles (no egg on egg fried rice…) and is always served with a smile. The portions are large, we always have enough for lunch the next day and it always tastes as good then. Top tip, call your order in early as they are always busy, for good reason!

Roast was beyond awful. ‘We know the roasts are a bit tired, we should tell people not to order them by the afternoon’, said three members of very sheepish looking staff. Potatoes harder than Danny Dyer. Thankfully, the team did kindly remove food from the bill (but that in itself says something!)

We stopped in the pub on our way home and walked in. We were greeted nicely by a lady who I presume was the manager. We sat in the bar area and ordered three mains. The burger and fish and chips were good and at the top end of “normal” pub prices. My partner however ordered the butternut squash and lentil salad and I have to say it was one of the most dissapointing dishes I’ve ever been served at £15 it really was verging on an insult the size of the dish, we counted one whole walnut half and 4 pieces of butternut squash which for £15 we felt was outrageous. I apologise for not giving this feedback in the restaurant, we were sat in the bar area so nobody came to clear the plates as we had to leave before giving this feedback. For a nice place in a great setting it really is a shame to leave feeling you’ve had your pocket picked.

Nice staff, though they were not knowledgeable of vegan options. Nothing was marked vegan on the menu, but they were able to do a tagliatelle arrabiata for us, which was nice enough but nothing special. Good if you're in desperate need of a vegan meal, but not worth visiting specifically.

Goodbye Goose and hello Annare. Lovely fresh makeover complete with very friendly mum and son team. We were served by the son who apologised for the delay in our coffee. He told us it had been ready but was sitting behind the counter whilst he served a couple of walk-ins...not really what we wanted to hear. We enjoyed a delicious fresh home-baked lasagne and will definately be returning however they serve Illy coffee which is rather too strong for my liking so will try tea next time.
