Always been a great restaurant for past 10 years and first time the food was bad, although the service was good as ever. The steak was chewy and fish and chips were too salty and didn’t still smell that fresh - worse than the local chippy. Crumble was decent however

Had a delicious Easter Sunday lunch we chose the roast trio to share - absolutely delicious and perfect portion size , we did have to Ask for more gravy - It was very busy and service was slow but worth the wait

We asked for another round of drinks but the young server bringing our food could not get these for us, we were never asked again - missed sale. Food was lovely, atmosphere was lovely and the pub was lovely. Would definitely come back next time we are passing.

Brought the extended family here for Easter Saturday lunch after recommendation by a friend who goes for Christmas Day dinner. We were accommodated very well by Mia, especially given one of your party had a nut allergy. The food was delicious and we throughly enjoyed our lunch. Will go back.

Nice setting, good atmosphere, friendly staff. However... The service was very slow - over 3 hours for two course lunch with coffee - even accepting the pub was pretty busy. The food was good but not special (considering its price). It's a good thing the weather was beautiful and we could enjoy sitting outside.

Deon looked after our every need and was efficient and friendly. The chef made us delicious food (we had cauliflower soup, chicken satay salad and steak and chips). The chips were divine! Harry made me a super margarita and I also enjoyed a lovely glass of Merlot. A perfect afternoon in the sunny garden of this excellent restaurant!

Our family selected Onslow to host post-funeral refreshments for my mother as she had visited this lovely Surrey setting many times. Our other considerations also included easy travel from Guildford Crematorium,  excellent private parking, and the close proximity of Clandon rail station. We enjoyed private use of the Garden Room with its very convenient access to the gardens, this is an excellent feature. We ordered the impressive buffet. Its freshly made choices included many vegan /vegetarian, both hot and cold options.  Food allergies are also well catered for,  all food very tasty. The staff are truly wonderful!  Friendly, flexible and attentive to our needs from the very start. On the day, this meant as hosts, we were able to fully relax and attend to guests without any concerns.  Thank you to all at Onslow Arms for all your help at this difficult time. Our time with you was a memorable and beautiful occasion, Mum would have been so grateful to you.

Very nice pub/restaurant with pleasant staff and good service. The food was above average standard with a good selection of wines and beers on sale. All in all a very pleasant lunch.

My 6 year old and I went in for an impromptu lunch and it couldn't have been nicer. The tiniest feedback was that fennel in the sausages may not work so well for many smaller kids.. but lots of other choices, so no problems at all! Staff were so nice and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy.

Lovely meal. Spent ages catching up and we weren't rushed into making decisions or moving on. A perfect evening

Lovely pub atmosphere for 48th wedding anniversary. Mixed roast shared meal was well presented and very enjoyable. Service by Alex was excellent and made the dinner a memorable experience.

Food, service and atmosphere were all first class. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we had a great lunch.

Our party of 6 enjoyed a superb meal at The Onslow Arms on Sunday the 16th of March. The pub was busy but we had an our space booked l. The food was incredibly good, possibly the best roast we’ve had being ‘out’! A star was lost of service as it was a little slow at times, especially when waiting to actually take our order our food and then feeling rushed off the table afterwards. However this didn’t impact on the quality of the food which really was second to none.

Gone downhill in the last 12 months. Food ok but had run out of certain dishes and this was 7pm on a Sat night. Had to ask for more drinks. Red wine bottle was freezing cold, asked for another but just as cold. Had to chase for wine glasses. Asked to speak to manager but he was too busy. Then an assistant manager came to see us, and by then we had eaten our desserts of which my sticky toffee pudding had the paper still stuck to the underside!! Overall very disappointing considering 14 of us celebrating my wife birthday. Still over £55 per head spent with bottle of wine and dessert removed from the bill. Won't be back in a hurry now.

Food and service were great even though it was very busy. My only disappointment was the portion size of the Pan-Roasted Yorkshire Chicken Supreme. I don’t have a massive appetite but there must have been two spoonfuls of risotto and a tiny piece of chicken. I came away hungry and disappointed..

We love the pub the staff are amazing and the atmosphere is always great we have children in London and Liphook great half way for a great family get together.

I love this place, but the 2 recent occasions have been disappointing, Both for Birthday celebrations. First occasion the service was poor and the food presentation left a lot to be desired, the actual quality of the food is great. But the staff weren't aware of potential allergy risk in some deserts. Burger, literally is burger and chips ! No salad, no coleslaw - When we asked the answer was just 'no' . Second occasion, food was great however, there seems to be a lack of added thought in the way of veg or salad. The teaspoon of peas on the Fish was almost an insult to veg! At no time during our meal were we asked if all was ok with our meals. I have to stress again the quality of the food your receive is great, fish was amazing but I really do feel the lack of attention to detail was addressed it would make all the difference to your experience and accepting the additional service charge added to the bill.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and enjoyed a delicious roast beef meal. The service was excellent, with Harry being especially accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming, and it’s a fantastic place for dog owners. Highly recommended!

Went today, fantastic feel to the place, really friendly service, food served quickly, ordered the trio roast for 2, couldn't fault it in any way, very good portion size, excellent quality and cheaper than almost all others within a 10 mile radius, will 100% be back soon, just a really lovely place.

Popped in for a drink on my wife’s birthday, got a cosy spot on the sofa by the fire. My wife forgot her handbag, we returned 3 hours later where it had been kept safe and sound. Staff were friendly and helpful!

Love this pub when visiting the area, particularly in the summer when you can sit outside. Still, given great table in the Garden Room as we had our small dog with us. Family group of 10 and atmosphere and service great. Only negative, my burger requested without cheese, came with cheese and I could not face the hassle of sending it back. Sure we will visit again.

We visited on a Monday night without a reservation, having traveled a long way and eager to try the restaurant for the first time. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly lads, who took our order promptly and with a smile. The food exceeded our expectations—the sausages were exceptional, and the liver was just as delicious. A special thanks to Harry and Albi for their outstanding service. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

We come here a lot - so review is overdue ! Best Sunday lunch yesterday - vegan option is not disappointing as can often be the case. Always busy, but that’s not surprising and the service is really friendly and attentive.

We had an amazing Sunday roast! The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender, and the vegetables were fresh. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just as they should be. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service from Thomas was top-notch. A perfect way to end the weekend—highly recommend!

We went on a busy Saturday. Serving staff were attentive and lovely. The pub was clean and decor welcoming. Food was poor - my gammon was hard and black round the edges, one in my party had burnt spinach with her fish, another had mushy peas that were cold but had a brown crust from being left out too long. Food is definitely not all freshly prepared on the premises, and given this it’s very overpriced. Wine by the glass avg £10 is also expensive for the area. Real shame this pub is no longer independently owned as it has really gone downhill.

We asked for a special table for a 90th Birthday and the Onslow were kind enough to let us have it- the food was delicious, good value and the service was friendly and professional- what more could we ask ! Thank you

We dined as a four and all had good food and with super service. We were never rushed even though we spent a long time just chatting. One minor issue with the food was explained and resolved very satisfactorily. Highly recommend giving this gastric pub a try

We had a fabulous lunch on Sunday for our son's 21st birthday. Cooking for 18 people couldn't have been easy yet all the food was brought out at the same time and was hot and delicious! We were also very well looked after by Emma who was on hand to ensure that we had everything we needed. It was a great party and all of our guests loved the pub and the food. We couldn't have asked for more - it was a perfect day. Thanks for looking after us so well Onslow Arms. We will be back soon!

Called in here on a busy Saturday evening with my partner. Absolutely lovely place. Spoke with the bar man about food recommendations and he insisted on the Cumberland sausage they added to the menu. It was top tier.! Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. See you all again soon!

Fantastic pub, lovely atmosphere. Bar Manager Tom was a particular highlight, he really did go out of his way to ensure that my nephews birthday meal went without a hitch.

Where do i start. I'd want to thank Tom and all the staff for going above and beyond to ensure that our Sunday roast experience was exceptional. Their sincere welcome and excellent service made all the difference. Extra yorkie and gravy was too good to be true. We felt very satisfied with everything. The ambience in the restaurant was so cozy. We loved every minute of it. Great selection of wines and beers. We will be back!

I met an old colleague / friend for lunch having not seen him for 6 years for a good catch up. He had not been to the Onslow Arms before and I had not been for a period of a few years. We met at 12.00 when it was quiet but it got busier and busier while we were there (we left around 14.15) and I can understand why. As indicated, the food, service and atmosphere we all excellent. We just had main courses (cod loin and braised beef pie) and puddings (we both had the crumble) with one beer shandy and a lager then shared the bill which came to just under £40 (including suggested tip). Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thanks.

I went to the pub yesterday for a Friday night family dinner. We decided to have starters and it took a while for the mains to come afterwards so that was a little of an issue but the pub looked quite full at that point so it was expected. Friendly staff and overall nice food, possibility the pie my husband had was slightly overcooked. Nice GF options, we would go back in summer to sit in the garden that looks great!

When we first moved to West Clandon, the Onslow Arms was a semi-independent pub with an enviable menu and excellent service. Now part of the Youngs chain, service and food are a shade of their former selves. Gone are the ‘slaw, onion rings and pickles of the original burgers, replaced by an average burger and a tin of fries - not a hint of a salad leaf, let alone the above… and despite the additional offer of bacon and blue cheese, the bacon appeared to have disappeared. Roast beef presenting well, with a massive Yorkshire pudding, was cold on arrival, so how long had that been plated for and left out? The wine eventually arrived, half way through the main course, and staff seemed pretty disinterested in general. A brilliant venue, but clearly lacking some inspiration and leadership.

One of the best pub in this area !

This place had really good reviews from friends but we unfortunately had a bad experience. We were a table of 12, we waited an hour for our starters, the starters with bread were sent back as the bread was burnt black. The drink service was not good we had to keep chasing drink orders. The gentleman who was looking after our table did his best and apologised, he was polite, pleasant and professional but wasn’t supported. Our mains were lovely but came out at different times so some of us had to start eating while others hadn’t received their meals. Desserts were ok, although the crumble needed slightly more than a sprinkle of crumble. I’m sorry I can’t leave a good review and I’m not normally a complainer and, to be fair, they did remove all the starters from our bill without us asking which was good of them, but a meal we were looking forward to was rather disappointing.

We attended on Burns night to have the pre ordered Burns night fixed meal. There were 6 of us with a table booked for 1900. By 1930 no one had asked for drinks orders. I had to go and find someone. The soup course arrived at 20:00. Our desert arrived at 2120. Most of us had ordered Cranichan - this is an oats based desert with cream. However there were no oats in the dish - it was just a bowl of cream with some blackberries. I asked a waiter about this and we had no come back on it. I advised another waiter that we wanted the cost of the deserts removed and also no service added. The restaurant did remove the cost of one meal and the service. We did pay service though by providing cash to the staff. Overall it wasn't a good night with not great food and slapdash slow service. A shame as we have been to the venue before and it was good then. They were overbooked with too few staff.

Emma was amazing and we have had four meetings at the pub now and it is really great. I am gluten free and they have a really good range of food. I can highly recommend

Our family gathering for 19 people took place in a private room and featured pre-ordered meals from a good menu. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious with careful attention to dietary requirements. We were impressed with the positive attitude of the whole team and would definitely recommend!

Nice pub, very comfortable, however the food was mildly disappointing, we had two steaks and and the mussels. Maybe we had two stringly bits of meat, but it was not great. The mussels were OK, but not top class . We also were never asked if we enjoyed our meal, which is criminal sin for a place serving food!
