Amazing location, décor and style, the place is very clean. We've been welcomed by the fireplace's smell that gives a familiar and warm vibe. The staff is incredibly nice and gentle. The food is very good, the portions are great for regular menu and kid's.

Wonderful food, so accommodating. Lovely service and a nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend 👌

Bar staff very disengaged, avoiding eye contact all the time. Food underwhelming. Waitresses did well. Having viewed the options below, I can't honestly recommend anything. Won't go again.

The Greenery was PERFECT. It featured a tent, beautiful plants and friendly locals!

Busy on a Sunday afternoon but quick and pleasant service. Excellent Sunday roasts and a well kept pint of Youngs Ordinary. You need to book on Sunday lunchtimes - we had fortunately.

We were 8 in our group and were looked after very well.

Booked Saturday 20th January for my husband’s 70th birthday celebration . The restaurant was extremely busy and although the food was very good, the service was far from attentive. The starters that were ordered did not arrive at the same time & there was an unacceptable long wait for our main courses . No dessert menus were offered, instead, the birthday cake that I had supplied was brought out . I asked if we could have dessert menus, but then no one came back to the table to ask if any of our guests wanted dessert or coffee . I was very disappointed in this apparent lack of service . Instead I asked for the bill and paid the required amount plus the service charge which I felt wasn’t really justified . Having read previous reviews prior to booking, I was confident that our evening was going to be enjoyable but, regrettably it wasn’t ! Such a shame as you’re only 70 once !!!

Super lunch with an old friend, i had the Hot haddock smokies and my friend had the Duck parfait both delicious. We had the specials i had the venison loin (i dont eat meat unless its wild) it was fab, and the trout special was great. We finished and chatted for over an hour and decided to have desert! The fig and apple crumble with custard is Devine. A really special long lunch, great staff and a lovely fire in the background. Excellent service thank you all.

Cameron.. what can i say 5 star customer servive and the best cocktail maker, should be bar manager his esspreso martini is unreal. There lucky to have him lovely place lovely atmosphere.

Both the staff and the food are fantastic here. Highly recommend booking in advance as it is always busy. Can get very noisy in the restaurant so getting a table in the bar area is a better option for conversation. Always great service from staff. Lots of themed events which are always good fun and a lovely outdoor seating area for the warmer months. Be aware the car park gets extremely busy and the entrance/exit can be tricky to get out of as the visibility of oncoming traffic from the right is limited. A favourite place to eat, warm and welcoming.

Excellent meal and excellent service

Duck rillettes were mediocre, they didn't even look like them at all, texture was nothing like it. Burger was average, meat overcooked. The chips were good, that's it. Service was very good but never again.

Great lunch. Had the “light bite” soup and sandwich. Gorgeous. Dining room jammed on a Tuesday lunchtime, just after New Year. Ensure you book!!

Excellent local.. food is great.. couple of issues on getting the order right but they fixed it straight away and took a couple of things off the bill to apologise without us asking. Will definitely go back again with the family.. super popular on a Saturday.. but it just meant there was a nice atmosphere to enjoy.

Always a great meal at the Onslow Arms

This is a great gastropub. We love it here and have been visiting since the late 1980’s. We even had our wedding reception here in 1990. The food is always excellent and the staff efficient and friendly. You need to book as it gets extremely busy. Highly recommended

Went for an evening meal on boxing day. Managed to squeeze us in after we'd been let down by another restaurant. Food was lovely. Good selection. Decent portions too and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back

Great team, Great venue, Great food. *Private Function We booked the function room upstairs for 15 adults and 6 children for a set menu over the Christmas period and we were very happy with the experience. The venue was busy but that had no effect on how long we waited for food or the service we received. I would highly recommend.

Overall, it was a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. It was a bit crowded around lunchtime, but it proves how popular and enjoyable it is. Great outside seating and very spacious, the inside is also big, but is more suitable for customers who are on the shorter side.

Once again, the Onslow and it’s wonderful staff did not disappoint on Christmas Day. I am always amazed at how cheerful and full of smiles the staff are as I’m sure they would prefer to be spending their Christmas Day with their own families. The food was delicious with the best roast potatoes I’ve had for a long time. They graciously catered for my food allergies and made sure we were comfortable with our seating in consideration of my dad and his dementia. A shoutout to our waitress who made the best passion fruit martini,🍸 We will be returning for our Christmas Day celebrations next year. Thank you again to the Onslow team🍾🎉

Had a lovely Christmas lunch. The staff have been more helpful. Have my leg in plaster so felt a bit awkward but everyone were very helpful.

Haven't been for a while and felt a little less special than previously. Slow service and waiters not really aware of menu/wines ... bit too relaxed. Food good.

We had our ex teachers Christmas lunch yesterday which was lovely. The same group of us (8/9 people) have been to the Onslow at Clandon the last 2 summers and had excellent service and great food. We will be booking for summer 2024 and think Christmas will become one of our tradition too. Many thanks

Lovely, smiling staff and delicious food and brilliant service makes this place the best ‘hidden gem’ in Surrey…I always leave recharged and happy after being here - a beautiful historic timber framed building with fantastic atmosphere…. We have used this pub for several years, as it suits family travel arrangements. Consistently good food and service.

We were a big group of 36 and The Onslow were very accommodating, both leading up to the event and during. Given the large numbers they were catering for the food was to a very good standard and the service was excellent. There were allergies in the group, and this was completely taken into account. We have already booked the Christmas do there for next year!

The whole decor and layout was beautiful and the wonderful atmosphere hit you immediately. The whole experience from booking - arriving - eating - and leaving was just so lovely. But what really made it was the staff . They were outstanding in every way . They made us feel so welcome and looked after

Just spoken to somebody called barry for booking a table he said it was busy and to be fair to him he did say give me a call back when you know what time suits you. Literally straight away i called back there was no answer. I then called back a further four times and still no one picked up. Slightly disappointed considering i always come here but now I am booked in somewhere else so I will try there instead now

As a semi-regular visitor to the Onslow Arms, I can attest that they consistently maintain high standards for food and service. I try to have something different each time, and by now I have sampled many starters and mains on the menu. This time, I tried the hake scampi starter followed by the house burger. Both were excellent. This is a popular venue, especially around Christmastime, so make sure you book in advance and be thankful that an overflow lot has been added to the carpark!

An absolute gem of a country pub. Welcoming staff, very busy on a Sunday afternoon, so you must book! The roasts were a hit with all of us in the group. Other non roasts were the burger and the sea bream, and again, both were excellent. Desserts also were a smash, the sticky toffee pudding should be given protected status. Soft sponge, beautiful toffee sauce and a classic vanilla ice cream. Pure joy. The very unusual apple fig and chestnut crumble with lemon thyme custard was also a piping hot delight of flavours and textures. Cherry sundae and lemon posset disappeared without a fight! My only regret is that I did not get a chance to have the devilled kidneys starter but that means I will be going back. There is also a huge outdoor area, and a fair bit of is covered and has heating, so even on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon, there were plenty of punters outside. The gift that keeps on giving. Thanks to all for a wonderful get together.

The Onslow Arms is one of my absolute favourite pubs. The food is always excellent and the service second to none! Today both food and service were great again. I had chicken satay. It was delicious. I brought 2 new friends who were so impressed. They had not been before. We all enjoyed our lunches. We were served today by Andrea who could not do enough to help us. She had the most lovely smile and warm personality.

We had an amazing evening was up sold a special and it was Fantastic, compliments to the chef. The staff were lovely we didn’t feel rushed and when asking about the menu I loved the advice and honestly. A perfect birthday meal for the hubby.

From the welcome reception to the attentive table service, very impressed. When our order arrived, the presentation was only surpassed by the quality of the food which was cooked to perfection. We will be back.

This pub restaurant was very busy on a Wednesday lunchtime which was not surprising as the food was excellent and the service outstanding which explained its popularity. Perhaps a bit noisy.

Best Sunday Roast I’ve tried in the UK. Delicious. Plus, the pub is beautiful and the service is great too!

A very lovely pub in the leafy Surrey village of Clandon. Four of us went today for lunch and arrived a little earlier than we planned, but we sat by the log fire and enjoyed a pre-lunch drink. Two lovely sofas opposite one another with a large table between, placed in front of a large fireplace which was lit on this chill and dank day provided a warm welcome - our Australian friends were very impressed. The restaurant is modern and blends well with the old building. The staff were very attentive and the bar easy to reach and service provided quickly. Being a Sunday, a number of roasts were available. Disappointingly, the portion size of the actual meat is poor (lamb and beef for us) and the dish of vegetables for 4 people was very modest indeed - nowhere near enough - (although a second tray of vegetables was provided when I asked). We had a bottle of wine with lunch and had 1 tonic water, one and a half pints of beer and a half of lager between us, the bill came to £180. It is certainly not inexpensive for the portion sizes but the service was very good and the ambience excellent.

We have had a lovely meal here tonight, the food was definitely up to the usual standard and came really fast which was great. However, throughout the evening, we got the feeling that the staff were rushing us along a bit. With the staff looking very tired and not very happy in their role, we got the feeling they were trying to move us along so they could finish for the evening. More choice for veggie and don't assume that the person ordering a veggie meal is also a vegan !

A wonderful lunch, will certainly go back.
