So much fun! Great service, great food, great fun! No pizza but I had the meatballs and I would go again just for these!

It’s always a great experience at Carlo’s, the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly! Defiantly recommend.

Went to celebrate our anniversary, it's a lovely looking restaurant, but a bit too brightly lit, and there was a bulb constantly flickering in a wall lamp, which would have driven me crazy if I had to sit under it! We may have got unlucky with the food choices but our starter - a mixed seafood sharing dish - was far too large a portion for a starter, and too heavily battered. We left a lot My main was nice enough but my husband's lamb main was so tough he found it difficult to eat, and left a lot of it behind. I think they were short staffed that night and had a large party in, so there was a longish wait. The waitress we had was charming. The restaurant owner then cleared our plates in a hurry, without asking if everything had been ok or enquiring about the left food, so we didn't get the opportunity to let him know about the inedible lamb, we just paid the pretty expensive bill and left but I don't think we'll go back. Such a shame as my last experience at this restaurant several years ago was lovely.

A great authentic Italian restaurant. In addition to the main menu, there were about 6 additional starters and mains on the specials board. We went on a weekday evening. It wasn't too busy and the staff were friendly.

Honestly it was a terrible experience, the pasta with fish had no taste at all, the risotto the same, the prices were really ridiculous, in short it's not worth wasting money and time. They have no idea of any Italian Kitchen 🤦‍♂️.The quality of the plate was not worth the money we had paid. 4 people 290 pounds. Very bad experience

Big party, all pleased with the food & service in particular. They looked after us well beyond their closing time, which we didn't recognise until we were leaving!

A fabulous welcome! Excellent meal! Very hearty! We have sung “happy birthday” so many times 😂 And we could watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics! Just PERFECT!!

Food and ambiance are great, although the starters are very expensive, we sat next to a table of 4, they were all going to have starters until they looked at the price, they really need to lower the price, maybe more people would then order starters.

Went for a meal with my partner on a Saturday night around 9 pm as we were in the area. It was very busy and very loud. We almost had to shout at each other to be heard. In all honesty, it wasn't for us, but the food was decent, and the manager was very pleasant.

Lovely family & friend-run restaurant! The staff were really friendly and the food was good. The Lunch set menu was £22 - £25 depending on if you go for two to three courses, but well worth it.

We had a really lovely evening and would absolutely recommend! It's been a while since we've been to Carlo's - not sure why as it always was excellent on several previous visits. All of us agreed that we were glad that we'd decided on there and that we will be back. The food was absolutely delicious, the people (we spoke to Bonnie and Mesi- a fantastic head waitress) were very friendly and helpful and they made my Mum feel special on her birthday (thank you!) We also love the location and the atmosphere of Carlo's.

Had a beautiful meal. Friendly staff, quick service. Food was excellent with an amazing amount of choice. I would certainly recommend, only wish I lived nearer.

Highly recommend if you are in the area, especially if staying at Guildford manor. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was fantastic and the wine was lovely. We had an amazing dinner on a Saturday night and would gladly go back

One of our friends had a medical emergency and the staff were excellent. They called an ambulance and they were fantastic. We will definitely return again and enjoy their lovely food. 10 stars would be given if available.

Nice people, but we got the feeling of the restaurant being a bit old fashioned and behind the times. We were a table of 6 and nobody raved about the food (most had pasta which nobody thought was fresh). I had a salad which was quite ordinary. We were told the wine we chose was a good one but we found it watery and a bit bland. After just a main course we decided to leave and not go for pud. Nothing very wrong here - we all just expected a bit more, especially as the prices are on the higher side. Perhaps we are just used to a slightly more modern/fresh offering.

Took 1hr45mins to bring us our mains. Spaghetti was very oily but otherwise tasted great. Good vibes and a nice set up and very close to where we were staying

Food not good. Best was the Antipasti. Veal was tasteless, Beef Lasagne had little beef, and other pasta dishes were just basic. The cost with one bottle of wine was exorbitant. Service basic. Not a good experience.

Honestly, I couldn't fault our experience. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff/management; seemed to genuinely enjoy having customers and engaged with them all throughout...a rare display these days. Amazing value for money because the size of the main dishes are immense. You'll definitely leave fully and happy. Food quality was very good, really tasty dishes and lots of choice. We had starters, main and desserts, and had no complaint on any of them. I'd also say the place was buzzing with activity and sound. Would definitely go back.

I totally loved the 2 times I visited there. The Manager is an extremely friendly person who goes out of his way to have a short gist with you to make yo welcome, and talks through the menu and your choices, with good recomendations! Talk about a guy who knows his menu! The other staff are also very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing and the food almost becomes part of what you went there to do as part of having a good time!!!

Wonderful food, I had lobster pasta of the specials board. It had a decent amount of lobster and the pasta was obviously homemade. It was delicious. Worth the price that came with it! We shared the fish starter sharing board which overall was tasty. The dessert was inspired, poached pear and cinnamon ice cream! That alone is enough to make me come back. Overall a wonderful evening, delicious food and friendly service.

not what i was expecting based on other reviews and pictures, just wanted to leave

No issues about the restaurant and food (lovely) but a patronising attitude about the parking. Reversing into a parking space, the waiter “offered” to park for me - don’t think this would have been mentioned to a male customer. Apparently this is “chivalrous” - wrong century. Parked fine thank you.

I was there a couple of times with my friend, and it was a great discovery: 1) Appetizer- this special olives, grana padano, and bruschettes; 2) prawns with puree and this lovely sauce; 2) Main dish: carbonara (plentiful) 3) dessert: cioccolatissimo or tiramisu;

We had a very memorable dinner at Carlo’s Trattoria ! Despite booking a table for 22 of us at very short notice , Bonnie and Jay went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing dinner for my family gathering. The service was attentive and impeccable throughout the whole evening and the food truly delicious with very generous portions. We all had the fixed menu with a selection of starters ( the fried calamari are the best I have eaten in a very long time - even my Sicilian auntie thought they were tastier than the ones in Sicily ) followed by the prawns risotto and fresh ravioli with porcini mushroom and sage which were both heavenly! We ended the dinner with an amazing selection of desserts, all beautifully presented. I live in London but I will definitely drive back to Guildford just to eat at Carlo’s again!. Thank you SO MUCH Bonnie and Jay for looking after us and making the evening truly special for me and my family! Hope to see you again soon Barbara Z

Very friendly staff and we all had a great time and were greeted by friendly staff eventhough we attended late after a walk nearby. Food was lovely.

Pre ordered our food as on a vintage bus tour but the sauce on my fish dish had far too much garlic (which I suspect had been burnt whilst making the sauce) so it was inedible.

The food here is beyond amazing. We chose tiger prawns followed by chicken breast & lamb from the very reasonably priced lunch menu (£20 for 2 courses). Each dish was cooked to perfection and presented as if on MasterChef. The staff are friendly and the chefs clearly know their onions (pun intended) and cook with passion. We very much look forward to going back!

Carlo's is probably the best restaurant in the greater Guildford area. Authentic Italian cuisine, often cooked by Carlo himself, served by staff who are engaged and attentive whilst keeping a sense of humour! Prices are probably slightly on the high side of average, but given the overall dining experience, it is exceptional value for money.

Amazing food and authentic feel

So expensive! £180 for four simple meals with barely any alcohol (wine at £13 a glass), and including a generous 'service charge' which, unless I'm mistaken, was not mentioned on the menu. Food was fine, as was the waiting-on service, but for us, the price would be a deterrent against future visits and restricts our rating to three stars. Thankfully, we were simply visiting the south-east of England, and don't have to live there!

The food was really nice here, especially the aubergine bake starter and my chicken kiev was fantastic for dinner. The waiter was really good, came and answered question after question about the menu, was really good with my little twins as well. Would recommend and would go back myself if i ever visit this area again!

Very loud atmosphere and we were unable to speak to each other. Food was tasteless and very expensive ( we chose from specials on the blackboard). There were long delays between courses. The zucchini Fries were too salty.

We had a family birthday celebration here, with 18 of us seated at one table. Such a friendly place, staff were attentive and helpful, and the food all arrived together, and was enjoyed by all. Decent sized portions as well. Thanks for helping to make this such a special occasion.

Wow! Amazing food! We will definitely come back again if we're in the area. We had the 2-course set menu which was around £20 which is really good price! We had the breaded king prawn to start, and chicken breast with cream and mushroom, lamb with sauce as main. The set menu came with roasties and veggies which were perfectly cooked too! Everything tasted amazing, even the garlic bread that they served at the start. Looking forward to trying out their pasta!

Recently visited Carlo's and found the place very clean and attractive. The staff were very helpful and the meal excellent. Would recommend.

This has been in my list of top Italian restaurants since they opened. I have never regretted a single dish I have ordered, aside from getting a starter portion of their homemade pasta when I'd rather have had even more. The food is delicious, freshly prepared & cooked. The menu always has a good variety, with a reasonable choice for vegetarians. This isn't a cheap restaurant, and it delivers on the price. However their lunchtime menus are very affordable and offer a great selection of their dishes. I would also recommend booking as it is very popular and makes great arrangements for larger parties.

Food was so bad. Salad used old brown arugula and unripened tomatoes. Chicken Kiev tasted like fish, deep fryer oil had obviously never been changed. Pasta was nothing special. And the service was terrible.

We ended up here after sampling the very disappointing food in the adjacent hotel - what a find! Excellent selection of authentic Italian food. Fresh pasta dishes, with simple, delicious ingredients. Exceptional wine - we had a bottle of the Gavi. Came the following night too for a full three-course meal. Wonderful service, would highly recommend.

Friendly Italian with a decently varied menu. Slightly limited as to vegetarian options with the main focus being on seafood to which a decent selection available. Not quite blown away by the dishes but decent and good size portions, overall offering good value.

We had a very pleasant evening on Friday at Carlos. i was delighted to be able to have a very tasty Tournedos Rossini, which I particularly like, with some yummy chips. I was disappointed the chef felt unable to rustle up a crepe, as it was a quiet evening, but it won’t stop us going again as it has such a nice ambiance and choice of food.

Excellent meal for a family birthday, with a large group and the food was delicious, the staff very professional and friendly and they even put a candle in the dessert of the birthday boy!

Delicious food, very good quality cured meats and authentic taste. Ordered tagliatelle al salmone for my main and it was a very generous portion and good ratio of sauce and fish.

I ate too much again. Visited again for lunch to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was Sunday lunch, but it was full, so I'm glad I made a reservation. The customers were all elegant-looking families who probably lived in Surry Hill. It's probably a restaurant loved by the locals. The starter of porcini ravioli was excellent. The main shrimp was delicious, and the garnished vegetables were cooked perfectly. The pasta is perfectly cooked. I think it's probably delicious no matter what you eat because it's such a solid place. Please come visit our store. Oh, I think you need to make a reservation. ---------------- I ate too much. A series where I went to a store that I've always been interested in. I always passed by this Italian restaurant before going to the silent pool and was curious about it. I'm a big fan of Italian food. This time I visited with my family for Saturday lunch without a reservation. I was lucky, it's usually difficult to go without a reservation, but this time I was able to eat lunch. The adult group ordered a course, and the wine was also delicious by the bottle. All the food was delicious, but the zucchini fritters and the main dish, the porcini lasagna, were especially surprising (sorry for the lack of photos). Although it is located in a fairly hidden location, I feel that the restaurant continues to do business as a good restaurant because it provides a high quality menu and pleasant service. The spaghetti with pesto sauce they provided for the children was perfectly al dente (which is a must for a good Italian restaurant in the UK). At night, there were risotto and various menus written on the wall, so I decided to visit again for dinner. Thank you for the meal.

My fiancé and i had a lovely dinner at Carlo's. We had Jay as our sever and he knew the menu very well and his recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious and the wine selections were very good. The service was brilliant and we did not wait long in between courses. Absolutely would love to dine here again.
