Had a lovely lunch here after a long walk. Beer is excellent, food is good and the service warm and friendly. We will continue to visit when we next walk this way.

We're locals, and so we can compare our experiences . The food has gone down since the new owners have taken over. Our friends had the famous Clandon pie and mentioned that it had too much sausage filling. The service is good and the atmosphere is as well. We will continue to support our local.

We bring a friend here every few months - we always look forward to it. Food is good, very tasty homemade pub food. The puddings are excellent. The service is always very friendly and helpful. The decor is slightly old-fashioned but to be frank, we think it really adds to the atmosphere. Good parking. Highly recommended.

We stopped in last night for a very quick visit whilst on a little road trip. The young lady behind the bar is an absolute gem! We were made to feel welcome as soon as we set foot in the pub and we were given a quick informal run down on the history of the building. As customer service goes, Gemma was the absolute gold standard. The pub itself is beautiful, rustic and very clean. Such a traditional setting, steeped in history and very welcoming. We will be making this a regular stop off in future, in fact, we have already found excuses to visit again. Quasimodo and Esmerelda x

We just popped very late on Sunday but they served us some chips and drinks. The garden is well maintained and has a good covered section. Inside it is dark but super quirky and welcoming. Service was great Definitely happy with our visit!

Been going here on and off since I was a child with my parents and now in my 50s. Although the owners have changed hands the food is still excellent and it's a traditional old world interior, real character. Outside they have a new covered seating area which looked very comfortable. Service with a smile and a good choice of draught ales. Plenty of parking too. Highly recommend.

Went into this pub Tuesday lunchtime 25 June, lived in Guildford all my life and have never been before, and I’m 62. And was pleasantly surprised very old and well kept, had a couple of ciders and one of their Chandon pies with veg and it was great. I’m a big eater and there was plenty. Plan in returning with the family keep it up

I also just came in by chance on the wet May bank holiday Monday after walking the dog. She and I were both made very welcome. If you cannot survive for 2 hours without WiFi then this isn’t the pub for you. If you want the atmosphere of a National Trust gift shop and smart looking food then you’re better off going up the road to the packed out Onslow Arms. But if you like actually having a conversation with people you haven’t met before, good no nonsense home cooked food, and the best pint of Shere Drop outside the brewery, then I can thoroughly recommend it. Nice garden out back as well.

What a shame this great old pub has gone to the dogs! Empty at lunch time but then I’m not surprised at £8.95 for a sandwich is a rip off. I was a regular before I moved out of the area but popped in whilst in the area. Shame on you to destroy good business

Parking scam!!! Popped in for a couple of pints at the pub during the summer for half an hour, they took our car registration. 6 months later we are being chased by debt collectors for a £170 parking fine for parking there. Car park is run by a “company” called Civil Enforcement ltd run by scammers. Whole thing is so dodgy.

It has a lovely old world feel and charm to the place. Not many pubs like this still exist, but sadly the food and drinks could do with an overhaul. Whereas the pub exudes charm the drinks are stuck in the 80s, as sadly is the food. Plus there's no phone reception or WiFi available. This place seems dated compared to all the pubs that surround it. Great if that's what you want, but there are some amazing new breweries springing up. Hopefully they can tap into that market? ****Update**** still no phone reception, which is vaguely understandable, but to still have no WiFi a year later is almost inexcusable. There is no data available in 2024.

Went for meal after my mums funeral, can honestly say it was the worst meal I've ever had. Everything was either frozen or microwaved. Overcooked mush, no taste, worse than school dinners when I was young. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Not a great finish to a very sad day.

Popped in hoping for a bite eat the other day but left without even having a drink. The pub has recently changed management so after a poor previous experience we were hoping for more. First of all, you have to register your car in the pub to avoid a parking ticket…in West Clandon?!! Very odd. Then we looked at the menu which was the same as before but with hiked prices (can not find this information anywhere online). The drink selection on tap wasn’t for us either so we left. Shame as there really is space for another pub restaurant in this village.

Do you miss traditional "pub grub"? Give this pub a try if you enjoy short crust pastry pies filled with plenty of meat and tasty gravy. A choice of chips mash or new potatoes and vegetables completed a well cooked and filling meal. We shared a pud of rhubarb crumble served with both custard and ice-cream to settle our disagreement. If only more pubs would get back to home made meals of this quality. Will be back

Have always passed this pub on our way to Shere but never got around to actually popping in. On our way back from Shere today we decided to pay a visit. What a simply delightful quintessential English pub this is. Wooden beams, fairy lights and candles around the fireplace. The lunch menu looked good and they are known apparently for their magnificent pies, although on this occasion we only had a drink and a portion of chips. The Staff were very friendly and welcoming , and although the pub was busy it was not overcrowded. Would highly recommend a lunchtime visit to this little hidden Surrey Gem.

A friendly and inviting pub. We looked around for a nice place to neck a few pints and were discouraged by all the laminate floor, chicken goujon restaurants posing as pubs, before rocking up at this gem of a hostelry. We were in between lunch and dinner but the barkeep was more than obliging and asked the chef to rustle us up a delicious cheese sandwich which we washed down with a couple of pints of the local Shere Drop ale. Had a good old natter with the local golfers and farmers and bought a couple of books for charity from the bookcases out the back. Went back the next day and helped in incrementally emptying the Shere Drop barrel once more. Delightful place.

What a gem of a pub! We must have passed this pub many times before but have not until today been inside. It is much older than it looks from the roadside and full of charm. I imagine it would be very cosy on a winter's night with a pint in one of the snugs. We sat in the small secluded garden at the back. In an area where most pubs offer more or less the same menu it is refreshing to find one that is doing its own thing. We ordered the chicken curry and the Clandon pie, which was clearly homemade (by a chef who has been at the pub 27 years, I was told), unusual, and delicious. All topped off with a pint of Youngs for me and a half a Shere Drop for my wife, both well kept. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We'll be back. Highly recommended.
