I'm cat sitting in Horsley for ten days. I'd never heard of it until my good friend moved here and frankly the thought of ten days this far out was unnerving. However my first night, on recommendation, I headed to La Meridiana and tonight for one reason or another I went again, alone. And it was divine. Grad and avo starter - light, fluffy, mousse-esque, followed by prawn linguine (creamy yet made with barely any cream!), profiterolo because it is true Italiano and it'd be rude not to and to round it all off I ordered a Sgarro (?) drink - prosecco, scoop of sorbet, shot of vodka and a sprig of mint. Lift, refreshing and delicious. I got caught up in the most wonderful conversation with a family on the table next to me, was woo-ed by my lovely Portuguese waiter and made to feel special by the (guitar playing(?)) owner. It was just delightful and very special

The service was nice and the atmosphere was decent. I had a pizza which was slightly under-cooked on the top. Pepperoni wasn’t the best quality and the sauce lacked seasoning. It wasn’t the best but not bad enough to get it changed.

What a fabulous meal we had here, and great wine. Very expensive though, £123 for two people!

Nothing exceptional about food. The tomato sauce used was horrible almost like Spanish "Tomate Frito" and the canolli were tasting of fried very old oil. Manager was giving discount vouchers for "cute" women only...

As per usual, 5 star all the way! Food exceptional, service fun lively and just pure Italian style energy all the way! I commit to coming more often. Thanks to the mgmt and whole team for making eating out what it should be!

Hi, we went to this restaurant whilst visiting the area. We were pleased that catered for GF. As we are restricted for choice. But we were not impressed at all. We had a GF pizza and a Carbonara which we shared . The Carbonara was very bland and the Pizza was burnt on the edges( was given steak knifes to cut it) but the middle was under cooked. Also when we first arrived we were asked if we wanted any water to drink , which we had not knowing it was £5.00 a bottle plus £4.25 service charge, plus extra for GF dishes. This made it an expensive dinner that wasn't very enjoyable either. Sorry but we will not be returning.

Our second visit here and we will definitely be back! The care and attention to the food and service is amazing.

Nine of us enjoyed a wonderful evening at this delightful restaurant last Sunday evening. My mum had come across it by accident when she got lost one day! They looked after her so well she wanted to take us all for a night out! The food is delicious and the ambience is really lovely. We were all looked after beautifully and it’s fantastic value for money! Thank you we all had a wonderful time! 😊😊

Excellent! Found this gem three weeks ago and just been for the second time to see Frank Sinatra tribute with family great food service and atmosphere we’ll be back soon many thanks.

Booked a table for 7.30pm, me and my family got there at 7.20 we was showed to our table and sat down. We didn't get a menu until 40/45 minutes after that. We waited 2 hours from the time we ordered the food till the time we decided to leave as we had children, and they were getting tired and wanted to go home. We decided to pay for the drinks we had and then left now ordering takeaway. Was so disappointed as it was ment to be a birthday meal for my brother and we didn't even get to eat anything, there was people who turned up later then we did and got there food before us, we was told that it depends on what we ordered to what time it come to us, but waiting 2 hours for food was way to long.

Great local Italian restaurant. We had delicious risotto mare and spaghetti carbonara. Their pizzas are also great, as is their goat's cheese salad.

This was our first time dining at La Meridiana and we had a truly lovely and fun evening at this restaurant. We booked a table for four over the phone with a gentleman named Massimo, who was infact our waiter that evening and he was really on the ball - Faultless. We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived, in a nice setting within the restaurant, with great service and the food was second to none - Cooked perfectly ! Got the food order 100% correct, with the extra requests, and Massimo was also fast on our top-up drinks requests - Despite a full capacity that evening - Couldn't fault it. I'm not the easiest to please, but I was 100% happy ! No faults, No complaints, Simply a brilliant evening ! Also, on our visit, they had a live act performing for the entertainment, an ABBA tribute band, which added to a great pre-christmas party atmosphere. The experienced staff managed really well, and every table was having a great fun & festive time. My wife and I, for sure, will be returning in the new year. Thank you so much to Massimo and all the staff, and I would like to wish you all a Happy & Successful New Year (2024)

We're surprised at how busy the restaurant was on a Monday evening, but once our meals arrived could understand why. Both the food and atmosphere were excellent m, as we're the staff Highly recommend. Photo doest really do my seabass justice as it was delicious

My lift was late picking me up from the train station I had a fairly long wait and they said they where closed till 5pm and this was 16.20, I asked if there was anywhere to get a coffee they offered me to sit outside and have a coffee great friendly service after a packed train journey form darlington thank you soo much

Lovely meal for my dad's 91st birthday. Staff were very accommodating and prepared a vegan pasta dish for me which was not on the menu. Our table of 6 were looked after superbly, would highly recommend.

Ich war seit langem nicht mehr in diesem Restaurant, erinnerte mich aber sofort an den charmanten Service alter Schule und die feine Küche, als ich las, dass das 'La Meridiana' einen Gastronomie-Preis 2022 gewonnen hatte. Was ich nicht wusste war, als wir nun einen Tisch buchten, dass das Management samt Team in diesem Jahr ausgewechselt wurde. Was jetzt dort angeboten wird, reflektiert aber eher die Qualität einer Grosskantine und ist mit früheren Zeiten nicht zu vergleichen. Die 'Zucchini fritti' schmeckten nach tranigem Öl und die 'Melanzana Parmigiana' ertrank in einer pampig-dicken Tomatensoße. Die Pizza hatte einen erstaunlich knusprigen Teig, wurde aber lauwarm serviert und war mit faden Billig-Zutaten (Artischocken, Oliven, Pilzen) aus der Industriepackung belegt. Zudem sei nur am Rande bemerkt, dass die kristalline Eiscreme zum Dessert mit handwerklich feinem 'Gelato italiano' nicht wirklich etwas zu tun hatte. Ehrlich gesagt findet man in der Gegend bessere Alternativen.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was 6- years old (now 30) It used to be an old school Italian, with classic dishes and charm. But not anymore under the new management. Arrived with my mother this evening. Ordered a pint of lager and a small glass of wine. Half pint and small wine arrived. Wrong, but not the end of the world. Next we overhear a guest who was complaining as he was charged £1040 instead of £104 for his meal… great start. We order mains (no starters) after 25mins of sitting down and our waiter continued to faff with new guests entering the restaurant. Flagged him down and asked to order. 5 mins later we flag down a waitress who takes our order. I receive my piping hot main and my mother the wrong dish. 30 mins later, i’ve had to eat my main so that it isn’t cold and mum’s main arrives and she eats on her own. Not an apology, or slight recognition. Super poor and very disappointed. Given this restaurant has effectively been every Boxing Day and major family function for many years, we’re just saddened by it’s current running. Interior has lost it’s previously classic Italian charm and you feel like you’re in a tacky diner. Sigh.

Nice people running this place, but it is noisy, very slow to deliver food. The special i had, crab and mango looked like it had been decanted onto the plate out of a tin. Large crab chunks mainly black meat. Looked awful Restaurant did not charge for this but the chef shouldn't present food like this Carbonara and lasagna were adequate but nit exceptional. Authentic carbonara isnt a creamy dream for example Not expensive

I was really looking forward to dinner at La Meridiana. Unfortunately it was one of the most underwhelming experiences in a very long time. Not quite good enough for the price. Far too noisy and a constant rush of wait staff buzzing around making it impossible to enjoy the meal or relax. The Dover Sole was like rubber and tasted very odd.

Bruschetta was lovely. My son said it was the best pizza he'd ever had. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was very good, all very friendly. We didn't stay late as had a busy following day but there was due to be a singer on that evening which probably would have been good.

Haven't been for a long time in La Meridiana ,I guess 10 years but I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and quality of our chosen meals ,a little surprised we weren't offered the Sunday roast which was confusing? But none the less food was excellent, ambience good .

Excellent Italian, a stones throw from horsley Station. Real effort to make you feel welcome! Will defo make it my usual family get-together location.

Use to go there all the time when living in East Horsley, went back after being away for 12 years and still the same great experience with great food.

Lovely food and great service. I have eaten in and had take out and delivery from here and the food is always delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service was efficient.

Went for Xmas lunch. Was ok food but not wow (except the price) and the service was good but outnumbered which is fairly normal for Christmas time . Overall was nice but quite overpriced. They were full though so I guess it's priced accordingly.

Always get spoilt here by management. They even bought the 2 chefs to our table to personally show us the dishes before freshly cooking it for us. Recommended for genuine Italian quisine and excellent Italian wines. Excellent service too.

Excellent service and perfect food for an impromptu lunch. We were running late for a funeral and the manager couldn’t have been more helpful in speeding us through. We will definitely return and have recommended it to friends and family already. Food hygiene rating is also excellent - 5.

Very friendly staff and a lovely birthday meal. Accommodating and patient with a group of eight who'd been to a gin festival prior. Mussels in the starter were very small, apart from this all was lovely so will revisit for sure. Second visit, a very talented singer sung songs from Sinatra, Bobby Darin and even UB40. Service very slow, excellent, friendly staff but just overwhelmed by numbers. Food much better than our previous visit.

Superb. Lovely welcome, fabulous food from starter to sweet. 50% off Steak Night a real bonus. We dined early but there was no awkwardness of, at first, being the only people in there. Soon the place was buzzing, including a Scout group creating their own pizzas outside. Great community inclusion. Altogether more than 10/10. We don't live close which is a good thing....we'd be there far too often! However we will return, too good to miss.

Six of us had lunch and were all impressed by the presentation and quality of the food Compliments to the chef for the excellent main courses and desserts and to the waiters for their attention and humour

Went to La Meridiana on recommendation. It's a nice restaurant however they seemed to be very under staffed. It wasn't full yet we waited nearly 20 minutes before they took our drinks order. I had the calzone which was nice but had obviously got put too close to the grill on one end as it was very burnt, it was the bit where they fold it so no filling at this point so wasn't a major drama.

The Dover sole was succulent. Tiramisu was extremely one to none : delicious. Overall , the service was excellent and staff were very very attentive. The atmosphere was buzzing : positive vibes.. we strongly recommend the place and its experience is a must.

Genuine Italian restaurant, lovely friendly staff . Private off road parking, lovely outside seating area with bar. Really lite up of a night time with ornamental lights. Really romantic. All food is cooked fresh. If you can’t get to the restaurant, you can get a delivery with deliveroo. 5 stars

Great place, great food. Service was fragmented due to online orders and collections and the emphasis was not on the patrons inside.

On the app it gave delivery on the tracker between 2 times but we could not see the latest Time as off the screen ???

Terrible service, bland food. My table for 2 waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our main course. It got to an hour when we asked where our food was, and was told that "they are nearly finished with the table of ten inside, then they would get to us" (we were eating outside). Bear in mind, there was a table of 10 inside and 5 tables outside, that doesn't justify waiting over an hour for food. Other diners outside waited even longer, and a family were joking that it would be faster to walk to the Budgens next door, eat, and come back. Even after all that waiting, the food was mediocre at best. I ordered branzino with shrimp, it came with two pieces of shrimp and one empty head. My partner ordered the risotto which tasted fine but was not worth the hour wait. I then ordered the chocolate cake which came cold. Overall, it was not worth it for the price (which was roughly £80 for two dinks, two mains and one dessert). The service was terrible, and I don't know exactly know what happened to cause this issue of having to wait an hour for food. We were not offered any apology for the wait and was only given the "reason" when we asked why we haven't received our food. By the other outstanding reviews of this restaurant I was very disappointed but I hope this was just a one off problem, however, I would not come back again.

The service was good, the food was below standard. The food came cold, we didn't eat and we paid for it. They didn't even apologized. I don't know how the reviews are 4.4 out of 5. We went because of good reviews, overall very disappointed.

We went to this restaurant for lunch on 17/7/22. I ordered my son chicken goujons and chips. I chopped the goujons up so they would cool down quicker and inside it was completely raw. I told the waiter who just took the plate and walked off. He didn’t apologise or anything. I wasn’t sure what was being done about it as I wasn't told anything. I then told him I didn’t want anything else and he said they were already doing me some more to which I replied saying thank you but no thanks. The food was still brought to the table and left to go to waste. I was totally disgusted by the level of customer service and that I didn’t even get an apology when this could have made my 2 year old very ill. Furthermore I ordered carbonara for myself and the pasta was rock hard and very very undercooked. I really think this chef needs to take more care as the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. The waiter was rude and ignorant and I would not recommend or return. Massive disappointment!

Apart from being seated under the ferocious air con for 2 hrs which was the most annoying thing ever. The food was excellent. I specifically asked prior to arriving at the restaurant to be seated in the elevated section of the restaurant.

We visited the restaurant while on holiday nearby.Had 2 delicious evening meals there. my park belly with apple was tender with crunchy delicious crackling.Accompanying green beans were tender and perfectly cooked. Husbands pasta dishes were delicious too as was his glass of red wine The staff are kind,attentive and happy to go the extra mile for customers. Beautifully laundered white tablecloths! Spotless toilets. If we lived closer we would be returning regularly

Visited this restaurant last Friday evening. We arrived a little earlier than planned but the table was available as it was surprisingly rather quiet. The service was impeccable. The table was laid to a very high standard with starched linen. Pre-dinner drinks were quickly delivered to the table and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff. The house red was gorgeous, and at £21 for a bottle, very reasonable indeed. The menu had a lovely selection of Italian dishes but I decided to go with the owners suggestion of a veal chop with butter and sage, apparently a new dish for the chef. I'm not a great sage lover but thought I'd give it a go. When it arrived it was actually a veal T-bone and positively melted in the mouth, it was so full of flavour, yet delicate. The chef even came to our table to see if we'd enjoyed his dish. This was quite honestly the best meal I'd had, eating out, in some time. How this restaurant is not packed on a Friday evening I can't imagine! It's absolutely fantastic and somewhere I intend to visit again and again. A great experience. Well done to the owner and the staff, but high praise for the chef! Was it cheap? No. Was it super expensive, No. But absolutely worth every penny! Get to this restaurant!

Lovely authentic Italian food, generous portions and delicious flavours. They were happy to accommodate my 2.5yr olds request for salmon instead of the childrens menu which I was grateful for and he loved it. The pizzas are some of the best I’ve had outside of Italy. The chef even popped out to see how were enjoying our meal which definitely is a sign they care about the food and their customers. Highly recommend.

I was walking my dog at Horsley camping thinking about what to cook next (from a sadly half empty van fridge) and La Meridiana pizza van appeared in front of me like a splendid mirage. What a pizza! Italian high quality ingredients, light and perfectly cooked dough, wooden oven, wonderful costumer service. They made this Italian lady (quite picky about food) very very happy! I'm just sad I'll leave tomorrow, if not I would visit the restaurant, no doubt about it. A tutti gli italiani che leggono, La Meridiana e' sicuramente il posto dove mangiare per sentirsi un po' a casa😉

This place is amazing! The space is elegant and cozy. The service is outstanding! To start we had delicious scallops and a pizza with a creative combination of burrata, pistachio and mortadella topping. As main course we had a tasty sea bass fish. Finally, for dessert we ate the most perfect tiramisu and panna cotta. So impressed with the restaurant. It's definitely a must go!!

Terrible experience thank goodness for good company otherwise it would of been awful! It took 4 HOURS for our group to have a quick pizza and drink after work. I understand a group booking can take longer but for 9 people you should be able to serve pizzas quicker than an hour and a half from ordering. The entirety of the restaurant had been served before us even though we were one of the first to order due to booking the table early. Once threaten by the group walking out if they couldn’t serve the food by 8.45pm (bearing in mind we had been there since 6pm) they confessed to burning the first set of pizzas. Eventually 8 out of the 9 pizzas arrived and were great nothing fancy or particularly special but by this time we were all starving. The 9th pizza then arrive burnt and rock hard unable to even get a steak knife through the dough so unfortunately had to be send back. Very quickly they then produced a replacement which was fine again nothing fancy or particularly special but sufficed. During the long wait drinks were ordered and forgotten about often needing several reminders before they brought them over. They still had the cheek to add 12.5% service charge onto the bill which was non removable. The only reason for giving this restaurant 1 star is they removed our drinks from the bill and put them on the house which was appreciated. Once it got to actually paying we had to ask several times can we pay before they eventually brought the card machine over 45 minutes later. We have been here before just 2 of us and it has always been wonderful hence the reason of coming tonight. It may just be this restaurant is not well suited to larger groups and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to a party size over 4 or 5 people.
