Great traditional pub with a twist! Staff were friendly and helpful and food was good and served quickly. We came to do axe throwing and the rage room for my son’s birthday. Axe throwing was awesome, I thought it would be hard to do it for an hour but you can play a variety of games and play against each other or in teams, so the time flew by! Then my son did the rage room. If health and safety is your thing then avoid this but my son loved it!! He got to smash lots of glass bottle and crockery. Plus 2 pc monitors and a dvd player (he had to ask me what it was!!!) 😂. Plus punch on a punch bag. Great venue, great staff. Totally recommend it.

Fantastic service but the overall vibe that the bar has cultivated feels generally unwelcoming and not somewhere to spend more than a single drink.

The toilets stank. There was a slightly unsafe feeling about it. Also, the "no two tier Kier" posters gave real EDL energy

Almost on purpose built venue, serving reasonably priced beer. Good service, good Guinness. Came to see King Kurt, will definitely come back again!

Used the rage room, very fun to unleash destruction upon inanimate objects. Very happy with the service provided.

Entered the rage room with stress and anger! Left the room with a lighter feeling. Got a nice cool pint to top it off.

Always a great place for a quick beer and get some paperwork done.

Axe throwing and Rage Room experiences were amazing. Followed closely by the games room. Decided to have food from the sharing plates and sides. Atmosphere was great, service was impeccable and we will be back again very soon for Round 2

My friend and I came here for the Rage Room today. Everyone was super welcoming (even the regulars/customers!). We had a fantastic experience and could not recommend enough! We did not stay for any food/drink due to other commitments, but would absolutely come back to do so. We were shown the new games room too, which looked amazing! We will definitely be back, thank you so much to the team for making the experience what it was! :)

Amazing evening, we hired the axe throwing and games room. There was ten of us and we had a competition evening and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The food deal was such good value and was the best burger in Guildford! The owners were amazing and very accommodating. We will definitely book again soon!! Thanks

Lovely, friendly bar staff. Reasonably priced drinks. Here for a rage room experience and WOW - so fun!! Crowbars, baseball bats, sledge hammers and 45 minutes of screaming, sweat and satisfaction!

Lovely pub, bigger on the inside and lots of outdoor seating. Came for the rage room and will definitely be back. Good selection of items to break, and weapons to break them with! Worth every penny.

Me and my sister did the rage room and had the BESTTTTT time!!!! The lady showed us to the room, got us kitted out and was really lovely!! Would recommend to everyone!

The rage room and axe throwing was so much fun! It was a nice atmosphere and the lady behind the bar was wonderful. Had the vegan cheese burger with was nice too!

Myself and a friend came here to have a go at the rage room. Such a brilliant time, good vibes and lovely staff, the place was full of vibes. We stayed for a drink after. Didn’t get food but from what we saw it looked wonderful. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic friendly and welcoming pub, that has everything, live music, great food, axe throwing, a rage room and a brand new arcade. Affordable prices and an excellent range of drinks with a brilliant pub garden and outdoor bar. We chose our house partly because it was close to this pub. Let me start this review by saying I am born and raised in Guildford. So when I say there there are far better places to spend a evening you can believe me. The owner is a rude and passive aggressive woman who would rather yell at her customers and staff then provide a good evening. I had the misfortune of believing this would be a suitable venue for my wedding drinks. The owner is a horrible woman who yelled at my new wife when she was alone and ruined our night and refused to calm down. If you are from or visiting Guildford you all know there are far better valued and cleaner placing to enjoy a pint and chat. Even stole our wedding cake

We came for the rage room and we had the best time! Everything was set up ready for us and we got left to it. Everyone was friendly and supportive of the rage we had🤣 will definitely be recommending to everyone!!

We hired the Holroyd to host our wedding reception and at first, the landlord was very accommodating and pleasant. The DJ was fantastic (not a staff member of the bar), the buffet was enjoyed by all of our guests and everyone seemed happy. Unfortunately, we had a few people drop out of the reception unexpectedly but we still had about 40 people there, all spending money behind the bar. One person alone spent £300. At the end of the night, the landlady approached me when I was by myself and shouted very aggressively at me that she wasn't happy people hadn't spent more money. Firstly, it was a Thursday night and the guests would have spent more than just the regulars. Secondly, to corner me alone on my wedding day was very distressing. I found myself crying on one of the most important days of my life and she didn't care. Some of the guests stepped in when they saw me crying and offered to give her a further £1k if that would make things better. She continued to be extremely rude and abusive, lying about us having 25 people at the reception and that's all. We definitely had more, I have photographic evidence of this. Some people just have kids and couldn't stay all night. This really put a dampener on my whole night. She was angry that there was food left over, wine left over, both of which I had already paid for and we took home with us anyway. Another guest also dropped off my wedding cake which she never put out or gave back so that was completely stolen. I didn't get to cut the cake with my new husband. Overall, I had actually enjoyed my night but the landlady is extremely rude and aggressive and to approach me when I was alone to shout and swear at me was completely disgusting.

We had such an amazing time! The staff are so friendly and helpful! We smashed up so much stuff and brought our own stuff to smash as well. I’d highly recommend this to anyone who has gone through a rough breakup! This is the best therapy there is 😂

We did the rage room - it was really fun . The staff were lovely and very accommodating . Highly recommend if you have some anger and want a fun workout

Went there for a live music event .. band were brilliant venue was Shocking. .. too small for the number of people allowed in .. tiny stage ... low ceiling creatures an oven affect and sound is terrible. The beer garden looked good .

Attended a Birthday Party fabulous entertainment provided . Very old school atmosphere , where all the cool kids from back in the day feel at home . There was a Buffet provided by the pub , plentiful with lots of variety . One of my favorite venues for seeing live music .

We have just celebrated my son's birthday today having an excellent time axe throwing. All the staff at the Holrord Arms went out of their way to be friendly helpful and welcoming. Certainly will be coming back. The roast lunch was a great finish to a lovely afternoon. Thank you Sally

Super night out and friendly venue

Can't really complain about the events and staff who are lovely, just be very very aware in the unisex toilets and make sure you watch and cover your drinks, my friend and I got spiked here last year and he followed us into the toilets as they're not separate. Just be aware and tell staff if you feel something is wrong.

First time visit to this great little music venue. Excellent sound quality. Friendly staff. Neck Oil on tap. What's not to like?

Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble . Friendly locals. Good food . We stayed overnight as we were there to see a band. Accommodation a little tired but clean . Comfortable beds tea making facilities.

First visit to see a gig. Loved the overall space with up close and personal feeling. Plus they had Neck Oil on tap 👌

Gender neutral toilets, as a woman having to share a space with drunk men is intimidating and a reason I wouldn't return, having said that the men I briefly spoke to also didn't like sharing with women. So why do pubs do it? Update on the toilets here, I've since been informed by a woman from the organisation Sex Matters that the layout of the toilets in these premises are actually illegal, both sexes must have their own private space and a communal area is not acceptable. One thing I've learned from this establishment is in future any pub or restaurant I visit I will check they have single sex spaces before I part with my money.

Bar and Music is nice, but I do not recommend as Hotel. Yes, it's cheap, but not very nice. It's low budget - I did not had any other choice in Guildford at the time of my visit.

Stayed here weekend just gone! Landlord and lady were fab, had 2 great nights of music, drinks and atmosphere was decent! Not to far from centre of Guildford. For a place to stay and have a crack, decent! 👍

Fabulous staff great atmosphere

Went to watch a band there, their first time at this venue, hopefully their last! I know i'm getting old now, but the sound was terrible. i watched the guy on the mixing desk, as i've got experience of using them, and most of it was maxing out, causing a wall of distortion in front of the low ceiling at the front of the stage. No Bitter on draught, just bottles of IPA. Not too impressed i'm afraid.

Didn't stay at the hotel, went to an event. Music event was spectacular. Second time we've seen this band there. The Trojan Beats absolutely awesome gig. Sound set-up amazing. Atmosphere friendly with no issues.

Went to the Holroyd Arms to see the brilliant band Stone Foundation. The venue was perfect. The bar staff were very friendly helpful and cheerful. What more could you for.

Nice friendly pub. Great polite staff, landlord very friendly. Plenty of garden space with seating and parking, ladies room clean and tidy. Good location definitely recommend this pub for party's or join in when they have music on. Always plenty going on. I know they have B n B l have not stayed as of yet. Always had a pleasant time at the Holroy Arms. 🙂

Odd place. Tiny bar which meant long queues. There is another small bar outside, but they kept having to go back inside to get certain drinks.

I love this place, the burgers are delicious, the beer good value and the staff lovely.

Room was very dirty with large cobwebs on the ceiling and on the bathroom floor which didn't look as if it had been sweep ever, the shower was bad no pressure water fell out of the head not even powerful to wash away a spider that had taken up residency. I must say the bed was comfortable had a reasonable sleep.

Brilliant pub, good deals on cocktails and axe throwing out back was fun. This place is an amazing find, we had the roast dinner and it was gorgeous, home cooked too. The landlords are also welcoming and friendly. Very well done and organised.

My friends and I, visited to do Axe throwing. Immediately as we walked in we were welcomed by very attentive and friendly staff. The atmosphere is great, the venue is big with a good sized garden. Axe throwing was brilliant fun and the food was tasty and good portions. Great value for money. 10/10

Had a great afternoon with the family. Land lord & landlady were really friendly and helpful. Kids loved the axe throwing (age 13+), really got our moneys worth as had time before and after our competition to have a go, so used the full hour slot. Food was really nice, between us we tried the beef burgers, chicken burgers and the halloumi, all were really tasty and the portion sizes were generous. Would definitely go back.

Lovely venue, run by lovely people. We had a nice meal there and will come again for one of their music gigs.

Stayed here for a night because we were seeing a band at the venue, great place, people and atmosphere, room we stayed in was cold but soon warmed up with heater on, and toilet was loose , but we didn't mind , would stay again 😀

Nice place to stay if you are looking for accommodation in Guildford. The rooms are clean and afford privacy. The bathroom needs updation and attention. Parking is secure. Service is friendly and efficient.. Seems to be a very popular Pub.
