The best restaurants in Cobham and Downside Elmbridge South East

Great cafe with 2 lovely female staff members who put candles in pal's bagel for her birthday & played Happy Birthday on music system! good tea/coffee, great salmon bagel & chicken bagel (tho pricey) but plenty of filling. Dog friendly, music not loud which is great as usually have to ask places to reduce as far too loud, have been a few times now

Enjoying a rainy Sunday in a warm place with a very good Sunday roast service. Excellent quality perished.

My first time visiting here for an extended family lunch. Sadly my overall review is not great in terms of service and being overcharged but most of the meals were really good! Sadly our waitress didn't really know anything about the food on offer when asked about the size of the prawn dishes and what was in the sauces for the steaks. Thankfully when most of the starters were brought to us, the delivery was good except that one of our party's starter was delayed. 15 mins later, still no starter and the rest of us had almost finished so we cancelled it. When the mains arrived, all looked great but sadly the steaks which were only offered either either rare or well done, was delivered more medium than rare which was sent back. Most of the meals were pretty good, tasty and a good portion size. We were surprised that whilst a child's menu was available, no child's dessert menu was, so we were charged £6.75 for one scoop of ice cream for the 3 year old (standard portion 3 scoops). Coupled with the menu offering two courses for a price, this was not reflected on the bill so therefore overcharged. Suffice to say, when queried this was adjusted and the cost for the ice cream refunded, however, we didn't like having to make these queries and felt quite uncomfortable doing so. We were also only willing to pay half of the automatically added 12.5% service charge due to the poor service received. A point to be mentioned too are the toilets which are so low, they seem more appropriate for young children and by the looks of things, it was a shock to previous guests as the toilet was very loose on the wall. Such a shame, as we were looking forward to trying somewhere different in Cobham. When restaurants charge premium prices, one would expect more knowledgeable waiting staff and a more efficient service. Thank goodness most of the meals tasted pretty good.

Myself and my mum ordered two hot chocolate’s with marshmallows and whipped cream and they were lovely. We also both had mozzarella and pesto hot paninis and were very hot and cooked to perfection. The young lady who took our order was very welcoming with a lovely smile and a good work attitude. After we had used there toilet facilities I spoke to the Polish woman and thank her for our lovely lunch. She was very happy, professional and polite. Thank you to the staff including the person behind in the kitchen who works very hard. If your in Cobham I would recommend this cafe for a bite to eat. Thank you all yours Lord Butleigh Of Somerset.

I often go here to get my lunch whilst at work. I have had most things from the menu and they are all so delicious and authentic-tasting. The ingredients are also good quality and it’s great value for money.

Great coffee, best I have had in England since visiting from Australia. Lovely lemon and blueberry cake. Good service.

Wonderful experience, and food was amazing. From the minute we walked in, we were welcomed by a lovely member of staff Alyssia, who also served us, drinks and food. We choose steak and chips for our late lunch, and it was cooked perfectly, and the quality for the money was perfect. Compliments went to the chef also. We then relaxed in the bar area, which was very warming, and was then again looked after by the same member of staff. She really is a credit to the pub, and I wish her all the success she deserves. All staff were polite and friendly, and if I'm ever in the area again we will definitely be eating here.

Our favourite local fish and chip shop, really tasty food and open at convenient times. Very friendly staff too, highly recommended!

Terrible crap, not fresh roll, coffee... It's hard to call it coffee. I don't recommend it.

Lovely few hours dining at The Plough. Really friendly, cosy atmosphere. Great service and amazing food. Can’t rate it enough.

I had fish and chips, along with a flat iron steak. The elements were good, particularly the curry sauce served separately with the fish and chips; it was a deliciously mild curry, I think it was squash-based. Really good idea. However, about one-fifth of the chips were undercooked, which was quite strange. Additionally, the mushy peas were brown. Skin on fish which is maybe a personal preference to have it skin off - maybe I expect too much? As for the flat iron steak, it was bland, and my wife mentioned that she struggled to chew it, feeling like she ran out of energy trying. The cabbage was amazing but overall the best elements were lacking execution - wanted normally write a review but felt it may help

Always a great atmosphere here every time we come. The food and service is excellent and yesterday was no exception. Despite the restaurant being very busy Kayla was so attentive and professional. She's a real credit to the restaurant.

As a South African I really wanted to enjoy Frego since it has SA options on the menu. Sadly the Frego smash burger is the worst burger I’ve ever eaten. The meat was either off or strange mix of meat since it tasted gamey/tangy! I took one bite and couldn’t eat any more. My wife also took a bite and agreed something wrong with the meat. The bun was chewy as if it was stale and had water splashed on it and microwaved. It’s two meat patties, red onion and a sauce, so predominantly just meat, which was awful. My son’s chicken wrap was good and wife’s salmon Poke bowl was ok. We had different staff for order, deliver and then payment. They efficiently cleared my burger, which clearly was 80% not eaten. Expected the staff to ask if there was an issue, but no comment and focussed on efficiently clearing plates. Complained at payment and the server just thanked us for the feedback. Staff are either poorly trained or don’t care!

Great Costa located in Cobham High Street, all that you would expect from a Costa, great coffee, good choice of sandwiches and cakes, plenty of seating with outside seating at the back.
