The Black Swan in Elmbridge

I had fish and chips, along with a flat iron steak. The elements were good, particularly the curry sauce served separately with the fish and chips; it was a deliciously mild curry, I think it was squash-based. Really good idea. However, about one-fifth of the chips were undercooked, which was quite strange. Additionally, the mushy peas were brown. Skin on fish which is maybe a personal preference to have it skin off - maybe I expect too much? As for the flat iron steak, it was bland, and my wife mentioned that she struggled to chew it, feeling like she ran out of energy trying. The cabbage was amazing but overall the best elements were lacking execution - wanted normally write a review but felt it may help

Wonderful lunch at the Black Swan today. Barbie was a superb host really taking care of us and others in the restaurant (great at upselling us to the maple carrots too!). The rest of the staff were efficient and kind. Food was really good. I loved the beetroot humous and would order that again tomorrow 😍 Thank you all for a lovely lunch.

Lovely lunch with my two teenage lads. Two cracking burgers, good steak and three drinks- hundred quid inc tip. Thought that was fair.

What a wonderful place to have a meal. We were welcomed by Barbie who made us feel at home straight away. The food was tasty, and Barbie’s suggestions were great. I particularly liked the heritage carrots. The beetroot humous was delicious also.

Absolutely outstanding service from all the staff, as we’ve come to expect from the Black Swan. Barbie always looks after us like VIPs and the food is utterly outstanding! Could not recommend this place more.

We came as a family meet up with 8 people for Sunday lunch. We enjoyed excellent customer service from the warm welcome and superb serving staff. We can highly recommend the shared camembert and baked bread for starters and the Pork roast was excellent with crispy crackling. We will be back! Thank you!!!

The lovely french lady (apologies I didn’t catch her name) was a fantastic host. Great service, lovely food and a lovely location for a Sunday lunch.

Came here today, Valentines Day 2025, having passed it by many times whilst travelling to a favourite dog walking area. We had a lunchtime meal from a Valentine Specials menu. The food and the service were excellent and we will definitely be coming here again.

Asta and the French/italian lady have been so awesome. They have made the evening so warm and welcoming for us on our Valentine dinner. Would definitely recommend the place and if you are served by any one of them, consider yourself lucky!

Options were a bit limited. COD was too soft. But mainly lovely. Great staff - very attentive

I can't speak highly enough of the team at The Black Swan. We had a party for my sons 9th birthday after laser tag locally and they were fantastic. We had 30 people but I think 6 steaks came out perfectly cooked as requested all at the one time. Jude our waiter was exceptional. He took perfect care of us with a lovely happy attitude and was so helpful with the cake and catering to the 15 children ever whim. The food itself was excellent and everyone left happy. Many thanks again to Barbara and her excellent team!

Always greeted with a smile. The Sunday roast was amazing, great portion size. During your visit you will most likely be greeted by the owner who is wonderful, wanting to see if everything is ok & if we needed anything. The Sticky toffee pudding was wow! Definitely recommend. We will be back. Tony

The food along with the atmosphere and decor was excellent. Chloe was our server and was very efficient and polite. Sandwiches are popular so make sure to come early enough before they sell out. Dog friendly as well!

Very disappointed with everything. Long wait for food, tepid, small portions, burnt pudding and massive service charge added to bill. We were celebrating a friend’s 60th birthday after a walk at Wisley. Will not be returning or recommending. So so sad 😞

Visited The Black Swan for a Sunday roast on 12th Jan. After a slow start to the service, the gentleman at the front of house went over and above to ensure our visit was a fantastic one. So a special thanks to him! The food was lovely and the pub has a tasteful decor with a nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

We had a very nice lunch on Saturday, lovely place to come to eat and dine. The service was great and will definitely come back again. Merci.

Warm, impeccable service from outset. Unctuous duck rillette with pickles and sourdough followed by a double stacked cheeseburger. Old school plump patties rather than smashed. Juicy and full of beefy flavour, dripping with smooth melted cheese contrasting with crunchy bacon rashers. With so many great burger shops out there right now, expectations for a pub burger are fairly low. This was a banger! Very large property and wraparound terraces so took a while to fill out on a Thursday lunchtime and develop some atmosphere but nice buzz by the time I left.

We had such a lovely warm friendly welcome and service throughout. We only had a light lunch but will be back soon to indulge more fully.

Had a wonderful family 'Twixtmas' meal with 12 of us on 29th December. We were in a large room off the main bar with a long table, which was perfect. Ewan our waiter was very attentive, friendly and on the ball, and we wouldn't have known it was his first time serving if he hadn't told us- well done Ewan dealing with so many people at once and holding your nerve! Food was delicious, some had roast, others fish(sadly no seabass, but the monkfish replacement was delicious), and one had a burger, all well cooked and served hot. Pudding were also delicious, tho' one comment was the custard was too thin. A very enjoyable meal and we will be back! Thanks Ewan and team.

Added magic to our Christmas holiday escape. We are not local and like to share Christmas with the “preferred” members of our family, we do this every other year to avoid suspicion . I don’t believe we have been rumbled. Secured a local Air B and B, we wanted somewhere fitting for lunch, we all like something very different and one member of the party is DF. Pre booked without any issue, added extras without any problems. When your wife is Irish duck fat roast potato’s is the song of her people!! Greeted and seated quickly, added bonus we found the haunt of the local black cat who was unceremoniously de-throned 🐈‍⬛ at least one of us got a warm chair. Great taste and flavour, it was heaving for Christmas Day service, so understanding and patience was the order of the day. Choice of wine menu was a belter and we rolled back to the Blackmoor Farm so very much jollier for our visit. Some 3.5 hours later. Service was gracious and genuine, our whole experience added so much to a celebration with people we love and adore. Bravo and thank you so much for a great time. 100% recommended.

Stopped here for dinner with my two kids before going to RHS Wisley Glow. Couldn't have been a more convenient location for pre (or post) walk fuelling. The service was attentive, and the food delicious. Kids portions are generous and a good size for anyone whose kids are on the cusp of needing an adult meal. We had a lovely time and wouldn't hesitate to book in again.

First time here, wonderful time, great for the family. Staff was spot on, Asta and Nathan should be valued to the black swan team very highly. Thank you.

We had our staff Christmas meal at The Black Swan on Friday 13th December 2024 and it was brilliant. Everything from booking the reservation and putting in pre orders was made very easy by the helpful team! Our waiter Jude was brilliant and very attentive, everyone had a great night and we will certainly be returning in the future!

Amazing Sunday roasts. Comfortably better than anything, even more pricey, in cobham or local area. My go to if I want to take family for a great meal at lunch or dinner any day of the week. Fish and chips are stand out too.
