Halfway cafe and Restaurant in Elmbridge

If you're in the mood for a breakfast swimming in grease, this is the place for you. We ordered two breakfasts, and every element was a masterpiece of poor execution. Bacon that tasted off, black pudding resembling a hockey puck, crunchy sausages (yes, crunchy), and hash browns dripping with oil. The mushrooms were a greasy swamp, and the toast? A limp, soggy afterthought. Truly vile. Adding to the ambiance, the owners had their children front and centre. One was blasting an iPad/phone at full volume, making conversation impossible, while the other provided a live demonstration of how not to cover a cough and spread whatever lurgy they were inflicted with. Perfect for those who love a side of chaos and seasonal cold/flu with their meal. The owners themselves were as warm and inviting as the food. No manners, no friendliness, and no appreciation for paying customers. I now feel utterly sick and wholeheartedly regret stepping foot in this place. Avoid at all costs.

Ordered a breakfast and vanilla milkshake. Guy brings me out a greasy full English dripping when picked up off plate. Chef brought out the wrong milkshake which caused me to have an allergic reaction and then blamed me for not telling him I had an allergy despite bringing me the wrong milkshake. Appalling service all round. Avoid at all costs.

Food was alright - depends on how much you like English breakfast. But the service was terrible. The women behind the till was rude, and when we asked for more tissues she gave us only 1 saying “we’ve already given you lots of tissues” Who refuses to give someone who’s spent £15 in your cafe tissues 🤣. Being tight on tissues is a joke.

Love this family run cafe. So much variety on the menu all at a great price, giant mugs of tea & the best lattes in town.

Incredibly rude gentleman at the café this morning. Try to order and explain I only had a card so happy to pay the £10 minimum otherwise it’s cash. He was rude, unhelpful and intimidating. The café is empty, and I understand why Really really disappointing for a local business, with poor attitude

Local no nonsense family run cafe which is very popular with the local breakfast and lunch crowd. Huge portions match the very extensive traditional menu. Here you can find everything from a simple bacon sandwich to scampi and chips or even a full roast dinner. Yum!

Nice fare with a friendly atmosphere

A greasy spoon which extends the metaphor to all aspects of the atmosphere. You can nosh on typical British breakfast fare, but that's the extent of it. Breakfast prices leave you wanting more quantity and better quality.

Nice quiet spacious cafe, quick service and lovely smooth latte. Perfect for hanging out and watching the world go by, slightly off the beaten track, as not in central Walton. Only slight downside is that they don’t take cards but this is a minor quibble. Also good to while away the time waiting for a train.

Lovely roast chicken dinner. A bit too much veg for my liking and potatoes needed a bit longer. However that's just me and you can't please everyone. Really quick and friendly delivery. Will use again.

Visited this cafe this morning, gave the guy behind the counter my order, tried to hand him an older style £20 note and he just looks at me like i have insulted him and says “you need to take that to bank” wouldn’t accept my cash and left me to walk back home on an empty stomach, these notes are still legal tender and had no issues anywhere else, general attitude was awful and clearly do not care about their customers. Definitely would NOT recommend 👎🏻

Great tasting food, shame they don’t communicate properly with each other. I call up to see if they have crusty rolls before ordering I am told yes, 1 minute later I call to confirm for a second time my order number and that I am having a crusty roll to then be told sorry no rolls! After 1 minute…. Between me speaking to the lady who says yes rolls to 1 min later the man saying no rolls soz this isnt the first time this has happened then I have to sit and wait to be refunded! It really isnt on. Communication between staff very disappointing.

I pop in here for breakfast, normally opting for a bacon and egg roll with a cup of tea, and experience a well cooked meal in a bright, airy and clean café. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is really good too! Really recommended!

A nice place to get proper English breakfast. Delivery always is fast. Prices are good for such big portions. A nice treat when you are too lazy to cook. I only wish they would allow to choose from different types of teas and coffees, so far it’s just breakfast tea with milk or coffee with milk. As I drink only with oat milk it’s a big minus for me.

We’ve just eaten gammon steak and liver and bacon ordered from the half way..the best food we’ve had in ages..the liver and bacon was utterly delicious..definitely worth every penny.

If you're at Walton-ob-Thames railway station &fancy (or need) a tasty breakfast then I would certainly recommend the Halfway cafe - it's only a 5minute walk away.Staff are friendly &wear face coverings. There is an extensive menu to include several 'set breakfast' options which are inclusive of tea/coffee &toast or you can go ahead &choose your own. I had a very tasty &filling cheese omelette with beans &hash browns. There are also several lunch dishes available too including roasts, lasagne, shepherds pie etc..Prices are reasonable - the cafe tends to get quite busy with a mixture of clientele from construction workers to families to couples to friends. Service is quick and courteous.Worth visiting of you're feeling hungry!

Amazing cafe with the friendliest family running it. Portions are so large! They make the best homemade chicken fillet burger I have had, from scratch. Great breakfast variations, traditional English recipes and huge salads too. It's a marvellous place and amazing value. I hope they do really well, they deserve it.

Massive meals huge choice and low prices fantastic.Stay a the local hotel regular but prefer meals here instead.
