The place was nice and the staff were friendly. We're thinking of moving to the area and looking for nice pubs. I see this more of a restaurant than a pub - the atmosphere was very much one for the dining experience. Food was great. A four star experience, but one star removed for adding service charge to the bill.

What a great find. I needed a place to stay for a weekend working at Epsom Downs racecourse and this place was perfect. The rooms are compact but perfectly appointed and next to the pub and not on top so there’s not much noise. The food is all Spanish based and very good quality and the service is excellent with very attentive and personable staff. All in all a great place to stay and highly recommend

Very dog friendly! Small but cozy room with high-quality furnishings and very clean. Service in the restaurant (during the day until evening) was excellent! Immediately after our drink order, the dog had water. He was allowed to go everywhere and the other dogs were also trained. Good food (we had lunch, dinner and breakfast) and great wine and cocktail list. At the Arbrook Common Car Park there is access to a great forest for dog walking. Walking distance from the restaurant.

This review is for the restaurant, not the hotel: Despite the stunning reviews, I was very disappointed. The food is a pale imitation of the other restaurants. Much blander, heavier and with limited choice. The room is staffed by kids who are well-meaning but clueless ( they tried to take away plates when I was still eating and checked on whether I liked the food one minute after it had arrived). The atmosphere was spoilt by the hostess loudly training the staff and reconfirming future reservations during a Saturday lunchtime! And, of course, it's wildly overpriced. Nearly £50 for three medium-sized tapas without drinks is borderline robbery. Overall, this establishment does a disservice to the otherwise stellar reputation of the Jose Pissarro brand, unfortunately

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while the premises are absolutely stunning, my experience with the staff, particularly the manager, was horrendous. I had booked the room in advance and clearly mentioned that I was bringing my large dogs. The hotel accepted my booking and took payment without any issues, and upon arrival, everything seemed perfect. The grounds were beautiful, and I was excited for my stay. However, after checking in and settling into my room, things took a turn for the worse. After returning from a walk with my dogs, the manager approached me and informed me that we had to leave. Despite my booking stating that I had dogs with me, I was suddenly told we were no longer welcome. The manner in which the manager treated me was completely unacceptable. I felt intimidated and uncomfortable as I was made to pack up my things and leave the room while being watched. The manager even mentioned something about refunding the payment because I had used my card, but the whole process felt chaotic and deeply unsettling. To make matters worse, I wasn't allowed to enter the dog-friendly area with my dogs and had to sit outside in the rain. My car also broke down during this ordeal, and I had to put my dogs in the car while trying to contact roadside assistance. Though the hotel itself is beautiful, the way I was treated was awful. I've never felt so unwelcome at a hotel, and I left feeling incredibly disappointed and upset. It's unfortunate that such a lovely place is overshadowed by poor customer service and an inability to accommodate the very booking they had accepted.

I've eaten here several times now within the last few years and I want to congratulate Jose Pizarro on the quality of the food. There are many famous chefs whose food standard decreases when served outside their top restaurants. Not here. We’ve been here many times and it’s a fabulous location, great atmosphere and food is good. What really lets it down is the service. We were served by a waiter today who had a very poor attitude, it was if he was having to go out of his way to serve us and he was frankly quite rude. And that’s not the first time we’ve had that issue there. It’s a real shame as the place could be really quite special if they improved the service.

Went for a family lunch with friends and their son, really enjoyed the experience, our waiter was great, knowledgeable and so good with our friend's son. Food wise, it felt like we ate pretty much everything on the menu...... The prawns were the stand out for me, (order bread to dip in the oil from the prawns as that is amazing) perhaps something they could look to offer with it as a dish. The fish and chips (I get not Spanish) but when eating with children what a win and it was huge and I mean huge.... For £18 what a bargain. This is a little way from us but would definitely return and make a day of it.

Very disappointed. We are from Spain and live in London, and we were curious about this restaurant because what we read in the news. We ordered several supposed Spanish dishes. The croquetas were too oily, the bread with tomato was frozen cold, the calsots where not enough cooked and the chuleton was more a bit of carpaccio! and with mash potato?? every Spaniard knows what a CHULETON is, big, juicy, thick, a wonderful piece of meat, etc... and THAT was NOT, only the price was of a Chuleton...:-( You can fool the "locals" but not the Spaniards.

Lovely atmosphere, great staff and service, amazing tapas as starters, but the roast lamb belly was a disappointment. We visited for a family lunch and were very disappointed with the service and food we received, given the extortionate prices. My husband ordered fish and chips and when it arrived I had to ask if it was my son’s portion from the children’s menu - there were about 10 chips and tiny piece of fish. My roast dinner was also very small, with 2 over cooked roast potatoes and about half a carrot. The starter (baked potato soup) was tasteless and very under seasoned. The staff were friendly and helpful but unfortunately service was slow, about an hour between starter and main, then 3 desserts forgotten! The Swan Inn looks like an idyllic Christmas pub, but it didn’t deliver and emphasis was on style, not substance.

We had a relaxing and wonderful Sunday lunch. Drinks in the bar first and we were very impressed with the friendly and engaging bar staff. I enjoyed a few glasses of the house champagne which were delicious. Then onto lunch, what a setting to enjoy it in - such elegant surroundings. My husband started with scotch eggs and declared afterwards, that it was the best one he had ever tasted. Roast beef was next, perfectly cooked with roast potatoes and a lovely puff of Yorkshire pudding with tasty seasonal vegetables. At this stage a break was called for and then onto sticky toffee pudding, yoghurt panna cotta, with Tonka bean (wonderful ) and finished off with a Cafe Royale coffee. Absolutely fabulous! Only 2 roast potatoes, which were over done. Yorkshire pudding was huge. Red onion was part of the veg. Not overly substantial so quite pricey considering. Do not order the tiramisu. I only ever normally order this at a proper Italian restaurant but thought I would give it a try. It was the worst tiramisu that I have ever eaten. The beef comes more rare than medium, so this is worth noting.

A group of friends had dinner last night, the restaurant was busy but not so bad the staff were rushed off their feet. We had to leave the table on more than on occasion to ask for service. The first time we asked it seemed we were disturbing the young girl from her task of unloading the dishwasher and she reluctantly came to serve us. The food took a long time to come but when it did it was really good. We had to ask for more wine and for the glasses to be cleared. The meal was very good although on the expensive side. With awareness of special dietary needs nowadays we would have expected the menu to better spell out gluten content rather than be told afterwards that the waiters are trained to explain content should they be asked. The cost was then pushed up automatically by a further 12.5% for "a discretionary service charge" when we would have preferred to make our own choice.

Decided to try a new place, and on arrival, gave a good impression. Ordered drinks and found a nice table at front , over looking Claygate green. Were having a look at Menus, and a guy came out informing us, we couldn't sit there if wanted to have dinner! Apparently the tables are for people having drinks and nibbles! Was absolutely shocked. The option was to move inside, but it was too hot, or round the back, into a concrete area covered with some form of cover, which was depressing with no view, or leave...We decided to leave and go elsewhere. Bar service was very slow when paying the bill.. and then found some where else to have my birthday meal. There were only from memory 5/6 menu main choices ranging from abt £12 up to abt £19 which appears high for a " pub" which was actually quite empty. No surprising why..... Ordered haddock with salad instead of chips, arrived with a mere garnish of salad (Wilted and past its best), when I asked the server for a little more salad she handled the request with no hassle and I was swiftly given more, but I understand why the chef was reluctant to give me it as he was clearly embarrassed by the wilted, rotten leaves. It never should have been served. My companions batter on her fish was also under-cooked.

We went, on a Saturday evening, with friends who had heard good reports about the "The Swan Inn". The layout of this establishment is such that the bar area is adjacent to an eating area that is long and narrow, with little ambience. There was unacceptably loud noise throughout our time there with no sound absorption and so we had a real problem in holding a conversation. This was not helped also by a group of inebriated and crudely verbal customers clustered round the bar, with no intervention from the management in consideration of others who were also spending money. The service was OK but the food portions were small and certainly did not merit the prices being charged by this self styled "gastro pub". Our overall experience was truly average and we will not be returning any time soon!

This was an Easter Sunday late day roast dinner. We had been told it was good. We regularly visit localities looking for the perfect Sunday roast. This almost made the grade. Take note "The Swan". Your food was delicious, gravy although a little sparse, delicious, it made the meal. Roast potatoes, fab, a rarity. Vegetables, fab. Now here comes the BUT, the meat was delicious but it was very, very thinly sliced which in itself is not an issue when it is delicious and tender, but come on 2 slices, fine for a small eater but not enough. Hence only 4 stars. A little more generosity with the meat would have made this a 5 star, go to, Sunday restaurant. Don't be so mean, it's just not enough, even one more slice would have done it everything else was superb and the service was good too.

Based on the reviews that I had read I was keen to try The Swan and it so didn’t disappoint! The interior is beautiful and the staff are really friendly. The food is really delicious and really fresh. The menu is quite creative with a selection of both classic dishes and other more adventurous ones. Really yummy roast and the chocolate fondant is a must!

Ate here for the first time and the food was very tasty. However, I know it was lunch time and it was busy but it did take 30 minutes for the main course to arrive. It was worth it once it got here.

First thing was the amazing service and knowledge of the menu. The manger knew every single thing on the menu and his recommendations were spot on. Definitely going back and would recommend to everyone. Thanks for a great time !

First and foremost - the food is OK - so if you are after as solid pub lunch then it's a safe bet. Service was also good but I think that was as they were trying to over compensate for upsetting us from the outset!

Very nice decor, with a simple short menu. Duck was prepared well and was very tasty. Fish and chips were good with a thin crispy batter, and served with homemade tartare sauce. Sticky toffee pud was rich and moist. Will definitely be going back.

Went here with a few people food was OK. I had a big breakfast the sausage, was still hard and not really much for the money you spend

We chose this pub because they have great vegan options. Also they have good cocktails and an extensive wine and beer list if you have a designated driver. Vegans and non vegans all enjoy the food here and clean plates all round. Booking is highly recommended. Plenty of parking as well.

Went on a Monday night to have a family celebration for my child's birthday. 8 of us in total, staff were so helpful and welcoming. Not one mistake with any of the order, food came out fast and all cooked perfectly. It was their Burger Day so most of us had a burger, all really good. Really cannot fault the evening, to top it off tremendous value for money as well.

Should change working hours for Sunday. As spent 15min driving to place, just to find it shut. Bad beginning for a day.
