We cook very well at home and judge bad food accordingly. Peeking Phoenix serves amazing fresh food with each element cooked as well as they can be, the staff are always friendly and you can tell this is a close nit family venture. You’d never think this restaurant was in Eastleigh, an asset to the town.

Unfortunately had a couple things we wasn’t happy about so dropped a couple of stars. When we left a complaint with the front desk we was told a manger may get in contact with us after our stay but did not. So I did wait a while before posting a review but I wasn’t contacted. The things that we wasn’t happy about was with the surprise service charge on our bill from the restaurant. We also ordered drinks when we sat down, but our meals came out and when we nearly finished our meals my wife then had to go to the bar and chase our drinks up. So unfortunately we didn’t have our drinks with our dinners. But the main thing we was totally annoyed with was with the delivery lorry turning up at around 6:40AM and loading and unloading large trolleys. The service door was right under our bed room, and this sounded like a thunder storm rattling through our room. This woke us and our very young children up and couldn’t get to sleep again. That was very frustrating with our children. Good points, the food was really tasty and seems good quality. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The children’s room was a nice touch, all the members of staff we spoken to was polite. Kids felt welcomed in this hotel.

Staff are friendly, check back done before I had taken a bite of my meal though, I had only just put the salt and sauce on my plate. I love the refurbishment, the restaurant looks much better now. Tables need cleaning as soon as customers leave, several rather grubby, and a mucky floor when we arrived unfortunately. I ordered a half chicken, a butterfly chicken breast, and 2 portions of chips, the gentleman taking my order asked if the chips were to share, I said they were. I was rather surprised to find all of the chips on my plate when the waitress (eventually) brought our food, hubby just had a lonely butterfly chicken on his plate lol. We popped in before a movie, had allowed an hour, as it used to take 30 minutes to order and eat, thought we would have plenty of time. Unfortunately, it took over 40 minutes to get our food, even though the restaurant was half empty. We ended up being 10 minutes late going into the cinema, very annoying. It’s very expensive now, over £45 for 2 portions of chicken, 2 portions of chips, and 2 drinks. Nice for a treat though. Had the service been better and the prices a bit lower I would have given 4*’s.

Faultless Sunday roast, generous portions & right price. Really good quality with plenty of veg, spuds & gravy to accompany the meat, parsnips & Yorkshire pud. Helpful polite young waiting staff in a nice country pub. Only criticism, expand the Cola options as no zero or max but other than that it's a really good place to eat. Dog friendly too for those interested.

Spotless cafe, absolutely lovely staff and care taken with food. What’s not to like? The price is fab too. My young grand daughter can’t tolerate milk or soya so this meant a very limited menu for us. I had pooped in earlier and was informed that they have 3 sorbets she can have. Unfortunately though, these could not be jazzed up like other places as even the ice cream wafers contain soya. My only criticism must be that, in common with other places, there is no info on vegan items such as sorbet. Three portions of fried, two panini’s with side salad, two beautiful hot coffees (lattes and mocha) plus one scoop of sorbet came to just over £26.00 . The best place I have been in a long time. The big difference is that they give a damn about what they serve up to the customer. We will return . Thank you.
