Faultless Sunday roast, generous portions & right price. Really good quality with plenty of veg, spuds & gravy to accompany the meat, parsnips & Yorkshire pud. Helpful polite young waiting staff in a nice country pub. Only criticism, expand the Cola options as no zero or max but other than that it's a really good place to eat. Dog friendly too for those interested.

Very enjoyable father's day meal with family and friends. Roasts, burgers and lasagne were very good. The chocolate brownie from the specials board was particularly excellent 👌 Very good, friendly service.

Decided to stop in this local pub and give it a whirl about 5 months ago. It has now become our regular place to eat out and now also my parents. Relaxed pub with delicious home cooked food. Have had a lovely meal evey visit. Roast dinner is the best I have ever had in a pub. Generous portion of chosen meat and very tasty vegetables. 10/10 for me

This is our new regular Sunday lunch spot. The food is really good and beats any other Sunday roast we've had, The portion size for the price is fantastic. The beef is so well cooked as are the veg and potatoes. The other bits on the menu during the week are very good as well and the burgers are particularly good. The staff are friendly, it is always so relaxed in there and it's good to see a local pub being busy. We don't often go back to the same place regularly but this our favorite local food place. Support these guys are they deserve it.

Our "local" hosted 21 of us for Christmas Lunch. All together on one long table, with good choice of 3 and 2 course meals and " a small main dishe option." Every order was correct, and the rows of empty plates a good indication that everyone enjoyed their food!! Thanks Steve and and your helpful staff!

We have been twice recently. The first time we wanted Christmas lunch but as we hadn’t said so in advance couldn’t have that. We had fish and chips instead. They were both fine. The fish was very fresh tasting and the chips were nice and crispy. However we waited over an hour to be served and didn’t have time to stay for a dessert as we’d planned. As we liked the meal we booked to come again for Christmas lunch. Again long waits for service but the food was very disappointing. The starter liver pate offered a large piece of pate, not very nice, with 4 very thinly cut pieces of French stick. Insufficient for spreading the pate so my husband asked for more bread and after quite a long wait received 3 more thin slices and no extra butter. Still not enough to finish the pate. The one inch long pig in blanket was unpleasant and the stuffing not nice. I tried one or two things but my husband only ate 2 Brussels For main course we had ordered turkey with the usual trimmings. The Turkey was dried out. It was brown on the top as though it had been kept warm under a grill. It was difficult to cut and we decided inedible. The roast potatoes were hard and the larger ones were not cooked through. The vegetables comprised green beans, carrots and parsnips, with Brussels sprouts and red cabbage. Apart from the beans these were all over cooked. Then we decided that we couldn’t eat it. We cancelled the pudding and will not be returning. Also, I have a painful tummy today.

Really cold night, so surprised to find pub equally cold! Fire was smoky and not giving out much heat. Radiators were off. We asked for the one by our table to be switched on, but it didn’t happen. Ate in our coats. Asked for chicken and chips - chicken was white, flabby and not very warm. Chips were the best thing about this meal. Friends were equally disappointed with their meal - can’t remember what it was called but cheap sausages in a casserole with potatoes on top. Cheese hadn’t even melted, just stuck in a lump. Service was good and waiters very sweet. Dog and Crook used to be a favourite but won’t be returning to the Brambridge Arms.

This is the first and last time we will eat in this pub. We frequently used it when it was The Dog and Crook and it was always excellent. Today we had a table booked for 1.30. The drinks order was taken after 15 minutes waiting, and the food eventually arrived at 2.35. a wait of over an hour. We queried the long wait for the food and was told it was because there were a lot of large tables to serve. The food was average and not very hot. We didn’t stay for dessert as we would probably have been there another hour or so.

We booked for 6 of us for a sunday roast. It was excellent. Considering the pub was heaving with a private event on also there was no long delay and no running out of roasts. (We went later in the afternoon). Great to see it so busy. Lovely local pub and restaurant. Service great. Again fab to see local young people working there. We really struggle to find anywhere that does a decent roast so will definitely return.

We went for an off the cuff visit to a local pub for some food and drinks. We were served ok and picked our food, once we picked our food we decided we would have wine with the meal. I got the waitress attention and ordered, the order was put in and we waited, we waited long enough that our food arrived so we cancelled the wine. The place was not busy and the bartender although had the order just stood cleaning glasses and not doing a lot. As I said the food had arrived, I had chicken schnitzel and my partner had a chicken burger. My food was ok but if you were hungry you would still be hungry as you could count the handful of chips in the plate. My partner had a chicken burger which was tasteless and was supposed to have mayonnaise in it but came without and a pot of relish on the side which wasn’t on the menu. She had to ask for mayonnaise. On the menu there was an option of with/without chips she asked for chips and they came out in a different bowl. To sum things up the waitress spent most of her time apologising to not only us but to other tables and although we never received the wine it was still on the bill. We will not be returning soon. It was poor at best.

Beautiful cosy pub serving home made food across the menu. We have eaten here numerous times and is by far our favourite place to go. Really pretty in the evening with the fairy lights in the outdoor/ conservatory eating area great place for date night or a meal with friends and family! We ate here also a few months ago as a large group of 12 for a birthday meal and sat in the ‘snug’ area which is perfect for a more private and intimate experience. Staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. 10/10 recommend.

This used to be a great place but no longer. Food is expensive for what it is, service is bad (seems to be run by young people who don't know what they are doing), food is poor (eg. poorly cooked bean burger, pay extra for chips though these are good). Sadly, after many years attending the Dog & Crook, and having given the new format a chance several times, we have decided not to return.

Came here on a whim and glad we did. We had the home made pie which that day was chicken leek and stilton. It was definitely home.meade and very tasty, finished off with a lovely gravy and chunky chips. We then had a pudding, I had the fruit crumble and my partner had the strawberry steam pudding. It was very very tasty. Well worth a visit

We were looking forward to eating here after a lovely day at Peppa Pig World. As a bonus, we saw that you could use the Taste Card discounts so, we booked in advance so that we could redeem it. The first woman we spoke to said that we needed to book 48 hours in advance to get the discount as per the pub’s terms and conditions. Fair enough - we kept the booking. However, we then looked at the terms and conditions on both their pub website and Taste Card site. It said nothing about having to book 48 hours in advance. We phoned again and this time, another lady said 24 hours in advance. Both ladies said because the manager said so. So we asked to speak to the manager. He then said it was 24 hour in advance. I asked him to tell me where it says this and he was not able to and that the terms and conditions say that it is at the ‘pub’s discretion’ and that they have decided it is 24 hours in advance. I told him that it did not say ‘pubs discretion’ anywhere in the terms and conditions. He told me that he had only been working there since January and didn’t know what was on the website. I asked him to cancel the booking at this stage as he, and his team are clearly making up the rules as they go along. He said that it was the person above him who made the rules so I asked for them. Of course, that person was not there. So, out of principal, we cancelled the booking and ate elsewhere.

Visited today and was our first time since the reopening. The menu is limited and 2 of the main courses were off the menu. Being a Friday lunchtime I would have expected a stocked kitchen ready for the weekend.

Excellent Sunday lunch here today. They have a new chef who is cooking everything fresh, all the vegetables were freshly cooked to order and the taste difference is amazing. The meats were beautifully cooked and the homemade Yorkshire puddings are huge. Add in the homemade cauliflower cheese with smoked apple cheese and you know you're in for a treat! Very friendly place, great service and yummy food, we will definitely be back. Thanks guys. X

Had the pork roll but I ended up getting a lot of the fatty bit so spoiled it a bit. Homemade sausage rolls were great, as was the apple doughnut.

A nice place for a no frills meal, especially the Sunday roast. However every time we have to remind them that the roast should have mash potato as well as roast potatoes as they normally don't put mash on the plate.
