Our lunch was lovely, my friend is not one to moan but her lunch was not hot but only warm, it was lovely but could have done with being nice and hot. Our service was fantastic and thank you to Becca who was very polite and professional and a credit to your company.

Always so well looked after at The King Rufus. Rebecca and her team really make you feel welcome. The food is great and the service too. Would recommend it!

Good Greene King pub. Very good menu and selection of beers all reasonably priced. Plenty of parking and outside seating. Dog friendly in the bar. Controlled car park so enter your car registration number inside.

We’ve been here a few times & it’s usually ok, particularly if you have kids. Kids are all over the place in & out of garden so works if you’re relaxed about that. Visited yesterday evening & we’re very disappointed, mainly on the service or lack of. The table we asked to sit at wasn’t clean (hadn’t yet been prepared I guess) but when I asked a member of staff to clean it she didn’t seem happy, sprayed the spray everywhere & even the cloth hit me as she wiped the table in a aggressive way. The food took ages to come, I’d say 45 minutes could have been more & the place wasn’t that full. Food was pretty good, best part or I would have asked for refund/money off after the rest of the negative experience. Basically there seemed a lack of staff, not much service. Constantly having to get up & chase something. Food served, no cutlery etc plates weren’t collected, until a new member of staff brought out the kids pudding (which again took ages for a scoop of ice cream & brownie) & the pub which literally empty. Felt like the place wasn’t being managed, although a new staff member came in shift & seemed much more customer service based. Lastly we were then given the wrong bill. Mistakes happen, places get busy & people can be having a bad day, but everything put together & as a family of 4 spending £70 ish for a nice treat experience, i definitely won’t return. I will be contacting the manager today. Last visit I was accidentally given a meat burger instead of veggie.

This was a wonderful spot. Affordable pricing and a garden with kids play area. I've been twice now, once for breakfast and once for lunch. The food has been really good both times. The outside needs a bit of cleaning up

Lovely service from start to finish - Genie was efficient and attentive, even joined in on the jokes we were cracking about 'dry' apple pie. Food was delicious. Will definitely come again for family meals out.

Everything about this place is nice except the food is terrible, but when you have come out for a meal with friends you really need the food to be decent enough to eat. The staff are friendly enough. The pub is really dog friendly even having a dog station, always a winner in our eyes. The pub itself is light, clean and airy - don’t understand the Nando’s music. The food was terrible, really terrible. Two of us ordered the roast beef which the menu said will be served pink, well that couldn’t be further from the truth because we couldn’t get a knife through it - in fact you could have laid a patio with the two slices we got served up. The rest of the roast was dry and clearly been left sitting around the hours under heat. Another one of us ordered a medium to well done steak and what came out was a steak that probably could have walked off the plate with the pulse still in it. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a restaurant that the food was actually that bad. It just felt like we got served up food that was cooked 6 hours earlier. Will not be returning.

A lovely pub, with a welcoming atmosphere. I’ve received consistently good service and nice food every time I go there. Best of all, the Abbot Ale is always perfect, which makes it a winner ever time.

Visited today for a lovely Sunday roast, the mushroom wellington was really tasty, thank you Rebecca and the team for a really cosy afternoon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recently moved to the area and this was our first visit to the King Rufus, we had a lovely lunchtime meal. Fantastic polite staff (thank you Lauren), we'll definitely be back.

Early evening dining. Evening not as good as we have experienced in the past. After sitting at our table an acceptable wait before our drinks order was taken. Long delay before they arrived at the table. Food order taken, delay for one starter to arrive. After a wait of over one hour and 20 minutes, no sign of our main courses. The waitress blamed the fact that a starter had been ordered. " YOU HAVE NOT WAITED THAT LONG " she said. Then referred to the times on their ordering system. What she had not appreciated, we were not responsible for their delays in taking and serving our orders. Excuse given to the table near us, people are ordering on our app. Hence another reason for the delays. I assume the pub likes to be busy, but they could not cope, and not all tables were in use. Very disappointed

The friendly team gave us a warm welcome and efficient service. The salmon fillet was excellent. The roast beef Sunday lunch was very good, some of the vegetables were undercooked but this was not a significant issue. The cauliflower cheese was sublime.

Hate giving bad reviews but came here when pub was not even 1/3 full. Ordered chips and 2 drinks. Drinks took 30 minutes to arrive after asking where they were. Chips took 45 minutes which was a tiny portion, barely a handful for £3.29 is a rip off! I am usually quite empathetic when staff are busy and stressed but it was hardly a busy night so no excuse! Shan’t be coming here again.

Service was a tad slow when ordering drinks to the table but it was fathers day, the food was prompt and very nice 😀

Food oriented pub, can be difficult to get served at the bar by the over busy bar staff, no issue at all if you are eating. *Update June 2024*, lovely welcome for Sian, great value food delivered by Charlie, no issues getting served at the bar this visit

Have to say, this pub went really downhill for a while, but over the last year or so it has improved a million percent. Back to being a pub, which also serves nice food. Staff attentive and friendly. Back to how it used to be years ago.

Becks and Kam were fantastic at serving us for our lunchtime family meal. Becks noticed when our young children were in need of things and got them for us without us having to ask. We had a lovely meal!

Food from main menu was good quality and portion size. 2 of party had the Sun Roast which was not as good. The stuffing was overcooked and burnt on the bottom. The pork was very fatty and the food wasn't that hot either. Will stick to main menu in future.

Good as usual. It's very convenient for us, as it's a centrepoint for 3 parts of our family to meet up. Food is always good.

We came to the rufus for some food and a drink and we got served by a lovely lady called lily. Her service was excellent and anything we needed she was happy to go and get. Overall the extra was really nice and having a server like lily makes it even better.

Saturday night, thought we’d go out for a change. I wish we had not come to the King Rufus. The Greeting At the door was not welcoming. The table was sticky the menu Limited, they did not have what I had chosen no explanation. The dinner when it Eventually arrived was dry and tasteless (chicken burger)and chips. It took an hour to arrive. When we went to pay, we were thanked for waiting patiently for the food, However, when this has happened previously in other restaurants, we were at least given a complimentary drink if not A discount off the meal. I Would not recommend this pub and will not be returning.

Don’t eat here food cold, what little you get. Don’t ask to heat up it’s put in a microwave and dried up. Awful

The food was really great we had fillet steak couldn't fault it was on the table for 2 minutes and stone cold it wasn't a cheap meal.So very disapointed where we sat was cold we know the sun was out but not the middle of summer

I booked in last Sunday 28 April for a family roast. Even though the place was packed, with many people eating and waiting to eat, the food was fantastic. I would recommend booking in advance as people were arriving without booking and being very disappointed that there were no tables left. As always the staff were absolutely brilliant, friendly and very efficient. Great local.

I’ve been here a few times now. The food is amazing and fairly priced! The staff are amazing and so welcoming. This was my first time coming alone with just me and my dog and what a fantastic afternoon we’ve had, staff are amazing and of course everyone loves fussing over a dog! The waiter who brought me my food, kindly got my dog a bowl of water and some doggy treats 🙏🏽 so kind, thank you. This was the second time eating the salmon fillet for lunch however this time was a little over cooked.

Went for sunday roast with two family members. I ordered the roast beef. Arrived luke warm, carrots were soggy and cold. Roast potatoes were dry and tasted like leather. I couldnt even cut the sliced roast beef. Another member had the vegetable pie which had rock hard pastry and flavourless vegetables. Third member also had a luke warm dinner. Totally three unapetising meals. Never again sadly will we come for a sunday roast. I would like to ask the chef to ensure everything is hot and fresh as i feel everything was cooked and held for orders coming in as and when. Such a shame. Waitress lovely and totally understood when i returned my meal. She offered to change this but i declined. The bill was adjusted accordingly. However we have eaten there many times before off the main menu and it has been delicious.

Came again to the Rufus, as we usually do, and as always such great service. Tonight we sat in the bar area, had some food, food was AMAZING and Lily and Jo at the bar, have such great sense of humour it makes the whole experience great. We will continue to visit. If you haven’t……..WHY NOT?!!! Best place in the Ford. Honestly! Thanks again

Comfortable and cosy place for a meal with family or friends. Decent choice of typical-pub food in a price that you would expect to pay for a meal these days. Good location with plenty of parking spaces. By 2pm on a Sunday- already run out of Turkey roast meat so make sure you check food availability when booking especially if cannot eat any alternative options.

myself and my partner went to try and have a lovely meal ( as it normally is) however it all started on the wrong foot when my first 2 options of food were not available ( not their fault it had sold out is all) but it just got worse, I had steak and order mushrooms and a side of burnt ends - the mushrooms had a hair in and the burnt ends were nothing more then pulled beef in BBQ sauce - I called on of the staff and said sorry but I have found a hair and I cant eat the burnt ends as I have a thing with texture ( if I had known what I was getting I wouldn't have bothered to order them) so the waitress took them away and took them off the bill - fantastic! but then I went to eat my steak and it was so touch I couldn't chew it, my partner tried to cut a piece and it wouldn't cut, so again I call the same waitress over and say sorry I cant eat this its as tough as old boots and I have had better from Aldi - I went on to say don't worry about changing it I'm done - and though that would be the end of that but no! we then are sat there and the Duty manager comes round ( me assuming it was to apologise but how wrong was I) the waitress had told them that I had sworn at her ( or so I was told) and they could no longer serve us and wanted us to leave - I asked to speak to the kitchen manager as this was his decision, he came out and advised that apparently I had said I don't F*****g want it I'm done - I am never like that and would never be like that. we explained what was actually said and asked if my partner could finish his food ( which I paid a fair bit for may I add) he was fine with this. I am dumbfounded that someone could treat a customer like this all for sending inedible food back and not wanting anything else. I went home angry beyond belief that someone would say that about me as I am not nor would I ever be like that to someone who is serving me food. I was nearly in tears over the whole thing. Needless to say we will not be going back and will be advising others to stay clear from now on. Don't waste your time or money on this place.

Food is always good, staff friendly, can wait a bit longer for food if very busy and short staffed but would definitely recommend the King Rufus.

Another lovely visit to the King Rufus. We usually come of an evening twice a week but we also came for lunch today and it was excellent. The lunch menu is such good value and the food and service is always superb. Thank you King Rufus staff!

Never again shall I visit this establishment. Fined £100 because I was not informed that I needed to enter my vehicle reg. The parking Signs in the car park are buried in the bushes and are not lit, I went for a drink, midweek in the evening (it was winter so it was pitch black at 8.30pm!) Terrible treatment of customers using the clearly signposted (King Rufus Car Park) to then be fined is outrageous disgusting treatment of a paying customer ! I will spread the word and hope that no one else is scammed out of their money or visits this place ! Outrageous treatment of paying customers .. I mean who the hell do they think is going to use a pub car park to park illegally at 8.30pm on a week day evening !!!!!

Have been seeing the tomahawk on the menu for a while and decided to finally treat ourselves. The steak is a 32oz so we decided to share and have new potatoes, fries and a side salad and have 2 sauces the Argentinian and the Merlot & Beef Dripping. We are rare peopke and the steak was cooked perfectly and was absolutely gorgeous 😍 . Being a big steak we could not finish so we asked Becca (manager) if it could be wrapped up so we could take it home and there were no problems in doing so. If you haven't been to the King Rufus my question to you is why not?! It is a lovely pub, patrons are a good bunch and the staff are amazing group. Oh, and on a Sunday night, there is a fun quiz to 😉

This was my first visit, with friends. The food I had was very good and very cheap, a couple of my friends chose from outside the lunch menu and for what they paid were not very impressed, and apparently their bottle of wine was awful. However, my experience was very good. Very friendly and efficient service

Pretty good location, food was also tasty. Ideal at a centrally located apt to meet up with family. Would recommend. Shame we had to wait for the beer barrel to be connected.

We had a meal here on a Thursday. Booked online which was effortless. We were served by Jo but all of the staff were extremely polite and helpful and definitely went the extra mile. We had steak which was cooked to perfection and my son had a burger which looked delicious. We indulged ourselves in a sundae and mixed dessert platter which was scrummy. The prices were very reasonable. Good wine list and excellent beer. Easy parking and warm atmosphere. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Once I arrived at the right pub (long story) but I'm glad I did, as the pub , food and staff were amazing especially Jo who served me. She was friendly helpful and made the experience much better. Food was great but seriously small portions 1 piece of broccoli three very small carrots and 2 potatoes only to be described as baby potatoes.i think I'd be lucky to count 10 peas.

Group of 6 of us went to the King Rufus on a Friday evening after our original restaurant had double booked. We turned up at the King Rufus expecting our night to continue to be disappointing, we couldn’t have been further from the truth. Had a fantastic night. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great, not noisy, just full of other diners enjoying their evening as well. Only one downer, one of our party got a parking ticket as she hadn’t registered her vehicle when she arrived. It was cancelled so another plus point for King Rufus. Food - excellent ✔️ Service - excellent ✔️ Atmosphere- excellent ✔️ Recommend to others - most definitely ✔️

What is normally a very good experience has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, 1st the drinks were spilt over one of our guests, 2nd the food we decided on wasn't available, 3rd the food was lukewarm to cold. I will say normally the service and food is excellent. The staff couldn't apologise enough.

A lovely pub where I met a friend for lunch. The pub was clean, spacious, and bright despite being a cloudy day - lots of lovely natural light, and the staff very friendly on arrival & throughout without being over attentive - a fine balance to achieve. The menu - lots of healthy options with a number of dishes quite different - so lots of unique variety in the food. My chicken salad was interesting and delicious! Would I go back - absolutely. Well done to the team at King Rufus 👍

What an awful shocking experience. My wife just had to pay a £60 fine simply for forgetting to register the car on arrival. Notices are not an excuse for scamming customers out of extra money. These fines should not be levied against your customers. You will not be getting our business ever again!

16 friends went to the King Rufus for a friendly meal and get together. We were made very welcome, the meals all arrived together, nice and hot. Not a single complaint from any of us. Empty plates went back after. Will definitely go back.

Came here for dinner with distant friends, as we usually come here just my partner and I and thought it would be a great place to go as a group. We were not wrong nor disappointed. The manageress Becky is a credit to your business....

Been to the Rufus for a New Years dinner and we had excellent food and service as always. We are very lucky to have this pub on our doorstep. Becca always looks after us and is very accommodating. We will be back soon!

We recently came for breakfast with Santa, it was really good, the food came out in good time which was delicious as always! and Santa was really involved with the kids which they enjoyed.

We visited as a family this evening and had another great meal. The team are always so helpful and accommodating. The salmon was delicious, we will be back soon!

Booked for family birthday and had many drinks starters ,mains and desserts all being very nice but waitress was a bit inexperienced but did her best. I was very surprised when , due to being lactose intolerant, when I asked for a cup of tea with soya milk I was told we only do normal or semi skimmed milk ! In this day and age I do not find this acceptable ,please get your account together as I'm sure I'm not the only person who would ask for soya milk to have hot drink after a meal.

To be honest we went here for new year's eve. They ran out of the food we wanted on a set menu knowing there was 17 guests booked on the table. They stopped serving at the bar at 00:45 when they are open till 01:00....
