Great pub and food better than usual pub food. Extremely clean and tidy and steak cooked to perfection with a tasty fresh side salad. Large fish and a good portion of chips. Drinks promptly brought to us in correct glasses

This is by far the best kebab shop around sutton, food is so nice would recommend the special chicken shish which is by far best tasting one ive had. The staff are always really friendly aswell.

I have previously left a note on my order and it has not been answered. Please can you check and help me out.

They forgot my small portion of meat, the driver went back to get it but there wasnt a lot of meat for a small portion

When I called the restaurant owing to non delivery the man I spoke to was extremely rude.

Had a Sunday Roast. Having dined hear for many years was expecting the same great quality. However the roast @ £18.95 states come with a selection of vegetables. I was shocked to only have half a roast carrot and half a roast parsnip on my plate. The rest of the food on the plate was as described. We were a party of 7 and one meal was delayed so long we cancelled it. Vegetable curry was going to be served as these rest of us were about to finish. Another meal we'd ordered a southern fried chicken burger but turned up as a steak burger. Deserts, One of the chocolate fudge cakes a was luke warm at best and needed to be sent back. The lemoncello cheesecake had no taste of lemon and had a gritty texture. With a heavy heart we will not be returning even though we have had many good meals over a considerable amount of years!

Having moved to the area not too long ago the very first pub we visited was the Dolphin. Needless to say we keep coming back time after time. Always a great atmosphere , Dolphin team are very friendly and attentive.

We are regular diners at The Dolphin, have been for many years. Consistently great food and a toasty fire in wintertime! Currently working our way through the ‘Winter Warmers’, Steak pudding, sausage and mash, chilli and faggots - all under a tenner! Free parking for 3 hours (just park and walk in, register if longer)Worth visiting this treasure in Botley :)

I used to go to a pub for over forty years but came in here and changed overnight.the staff especially the owners are real fun and actually interact with customers which makes a very rare change. I’ve eaten here a few times with all ages from my family ranging from 12-86 and all now want to come back. Cannot fault anything and the open fire when it’s cold is brill. I've been enjoying Sutton Kebabs food for years without a problem; until tonight. It happens; but it was quickly and efficiently dealt with so I'm still a happy customer who will continue to be a repeat customer.

a number of things I ask for the salad in a separate pot they didn't do that .and late all ways late wen I order from them why I don't use u that much .

Mi esposo y yo decidimos almorzar el domingo hoy 16 de febrero 25. mi esposo pidió pastel y papas nuevas y yo pedí chile de res. El pastel era aburrido y soso y la verdura demasiado cocida, y el chile no era comestible, las piezas de carne eran como 'cuero de bota vieja' - ninguna de las comidas valía la pena el precio ridículo cobrado. Además de eso, la música de fondo era una cacofonía fuerte de jazz en vivo! No volveremos a visitar!

Tuve una gran cena con mi marido y amigos cercanos, sentados en la parte delantera del pub, que era un gran lugar para sentarse. Pedimos una selección de entrantes para compartir, todos estaban muy deliciosos. Mi esposo y amigos tenían filetes de costilla con todos los adornos, mi esposo dijo que el filete era muy tierno, cocinado a la perfección y extremadamente sabroso. Pedí de los especiales que era un plato de cangrejo aderezado, era tan bueno, la carne de cangrejo era tan fresca y estaba en una cama grande de ensalada mixta con un aderezo. No podía fallarlo. Espero que esté en la junta especial de nuevo pronto, ya que sin duda volvería a ordenar. El pub tiene un gran ambiente y el personal es muy educado y eficiente, sin duda recomendaría esta joya en un hermoso pueblo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

To be honest was disappointed with the meal service all off above. The food was still frozen in the middle and it was taste less. The service from management wasn't good at all. We had to barter on how much we paid for our meal. Didn't deserve a penny but ended up paying 15 pound REALLY UNHAPPY

Food order was completely wrong. Ordered a mixed meat and chips and jus got a bed of mushrooms and some veg on top, no meat and no chips!

The perfect Village pub. Fabulous staff and food and now my go to not only for lunch or dinner (just because I deserve it) but is also my go to meeting place for business meetings during the day as well. A gem in the local community!

Ordered chilli wrap, accompanied with chips and salad. (Tiny piece of lettuce no dressing). Requested for mayonnaise and was told by a young member of staff, they’ve been told they can’t give any out and only have enough for the kitchen and was not allowed to purchase from Coop opposite. I asked to speak with the manager/landlord who was sat at another table with his friends. Before he came over, I overheard him putting us down, when asked why he couldn’t supply any condiments to go with our meal, his arrogance was astounding with the reply “the delivery didn’t turn up and he couldn’t buy a small pot opposite because it wasn’t vegan incase of allergies”. (Vegan mayonnaise may also contain allergies 🙄). Even though we told him we don’t suffer from allergies. The sulky manner he dealt with us was so poor attitude including no management skills of running his establishment, trying to put the blame on the young lad who took our order. When working in hospitality, you have to be accommodating even if you buy a bottle for £1.50 and it sits on the kitchen shelf for occasions like this. Putting the bad attitude aside, the wrap was soggy, no salad, overpriced, brought us the bill when we didn’t ask for it. I am a local and it’s a shame because we won’t be returning but using the pub opposite where they have fair menu prices, £8.50 for a jacket potato compared to the Dolphins at £12.50 plus extras. I never write a poor review even if I’m dissatisfied with food or establishments but on this occasion it needs to be recognised the Dolphin does not deserve your money. I’m sure the manager will come back with a self absorbed reply.

Nice pub but very cliquey. If your 'friends' you're OK but treated entirely differently if not. The staff are great though, but like many pubs the prices are high Update 30/12/24 Went out for a few drinks, was fronted by a doorman saying it's a private party tonight. Close lady friend of Steve said 'it sucks doesn't it' I was in the pub a week ago and there was no indication of a private party being held.

Had fish and chips, no fish just batter, chips were cold and dry. Did mention to bar staff answer was sorry about that, very politely.

We looked on website and this said normal working hours, we wanted to eat out and have a drink so we thought this was a great shout especially with a 6 yr old in tow! We got there and ordered a drink and we asked if food was available and was told no. This was cool as Chinese was our back up. Still sitting there we then heard the last orders bell 4.40pm which was very disappointing!! There should have been more signage and definitely media to tell locals the circumstances of a family restaurant. I also witnessed one of the owners being quite rude to another paying customer.This same member of staff turned the lights off which felt like they were doing this to get rid of us. This was the last straw and we left and then went to the bugle across the road who were more than accommodating and actually housed all the other disgruntled customers. We then had a lovely evening and found out they do food. So with that said we will be eating and drinking in the bugle from now on. Or until the staff at the dolphin learn how to talk to and treat customers!!

We had our annual Christmas family get together last night at the Dolphin and again they were fantastic, Super Service and Food from Steve and the Team.

1st of all wrong order delivered. then right order arrived 10 mins after I phoned shop to wrong order was delivered

Fuimos aquí por Navidad en familia. Excelente comida, el personal era servicial y acogedor. La discoteca era extra añadido bonus. El ambiente era genial, muy festivo. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Pasé la noche del viernes aquí con todas las damas de la familia para una noche de Navidad. Una comida de 3 platos y discoteca por £ 35. Buena gama de opciones de comida, el risotto de salmón principal era delicioso. Toda la comida estaba caliente y fresca! Generosos tamaños de porciones y que atendían a nuestras necesidades. También mantuvieron la pista de baile exclusiva para los huéspedes de discoteca de pago, así que tuvimos un montón de habitaciones y peticiones de canciones! El personal era encantador y amable y con buen ánimo de Navidad! Volveremos antes de Navidad para otra acogedora comida en el pub.

Vaya, tuvimos la mejor fiesta de Navidad, cena y discoteca para mi familia el viernes por la noche. De principio a fin fue increíble. La comida era absolutamente perfecta y deliciosa. Éramos una fiesta de 12 chicas. Los entrantes eran tan deliciosos, todos los principales eran tan buenos y el postre perfecto. Sinceramente, no podíamos culpar a nada. La discoteca era tan bueno que nos quedamos en la pista de baile la mayor parte de la noche y pocos pies doloridos hoy. Quisiera dar las gracias a Steve y Kay por hacer de nuestra noche para mi familia un éxito. Y un gran saludo a todo el personal del bar y especialmente a los chefs por todo su duro trabajo. Definitivamente volveremos el año que viene, si nos tienen 😝. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We’ve just got back from an incredible Christmas lunch at The Dolphin. I cannot praise the team enough. From start to finish we had just the best experience. We were a party of 20 people and with that usually comes an expectation that there will be some sort of challenge. But genuinely it was seamless. We arrived at 12 for a 12:30 sit down. There was zero delay in food service, neither was there any kind of wait to get everyone in the parties meals out (which is usually the case when you have a large group) the food was piping hot, the portions were generous and absolutely delicious. We had quite a few dietary restrictions in our party and each one was carefully considered and catered for. It was also really refreshing to see so much variety on the menu for vegetarians and gluten free. The staff in The Dolphin are always shining examples of how to deliver customer service and today was no exception. Polite, friendly, attentive and going above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Can I also just say how beautifully decorated the pub is for Christmas?? I definitely wanted to get the giant light up wreath to take home 😂😂 Thank you Steve and team for making our Christmas lunch one to remember xx

Went in late on a Sunday. They were able to steal wrangle up a roast for us. They didn't have a meat option I liked, so they made me a steak instead that was spot on. They seemed to enjoy jesting me over how I liked my steak cooked! Food was pretty decent.

They have decorated the public bar area very nicely for Christmas. Worth a trip for sure.

had lunch midweek and they were very welcoming, it was time to close the food for lunch but went out of their way to make lunch, very tasty it was too. my tuna mayo sandwich was full of filling with lovely fresh bread, and tasty chips .

After living nearby for some years, have been several times this year's and had a great meal and service every single time. Food is amazing and all staff have been welcoming, friendly and professional, even when busy.

Ordered the “3 kebabs for £18.90” thinking i I would get 3 kebabs for 3 people, but what arrived was 1 kebab with 3 different meats… and not a lot either - like 2-3 bits of shish meat and a small amount of doner. Not very clear from the menu that this was for one person and expensive for a single meal! Large chips portion was very small - could fit them in one hand. Spent £30 on a kebab for one person, a few chips and some onion rings! Will not order from here again.

Very basic, no quality, not value for money will not use again.

the food was great other than no salad was delivered with the Doner or the shish which was very disappointing. 1st time weve used you and would love to use again, other than the issue tonight.

Haven't used this place for a while, now I know why. ordered at 6.20, arrived at 7.48. Originally supposed to be delivered at 7.00-7.20, chased at 7.30, delivery time adjusted to 7.40, driver on way at 7.38, rang shop at 7.45 asking where order was (we're 2 minutes away on a bike), very rude woman shouted that it had left 5 mins ago and put the phone down. When it arrived it was cold and greasy. Won't be using them again.

Food was great however the delivery time wasn’t great. ETA was latest 20:25 however we only received it at 21:05. I called the restaurant twice!! I was standing outside in the cold waiting for the driver. So I wasn’t too happy about it.

All food was delivered and it was hot when it arrived, the lamb shish and kofte was utterly enjoyed and the vegetarian enjoyed their kebab just as much. The food was delicious. The delivery was late; the app said that it had been delivered but after a quick phone call it was discovered that they were just very busy, and we received our food not long after.

I ordered a mixed diner with rice. The price is almost double compared to a regular donner so general expectation is that you get more in terms of amount of food but the box was filled with rice and less meat than a medium donner. Won’t order again.

Great food & atmosphere. Helpful, cheerful staff. Went on a Thursday evening there was live music, it was great & not too loud. Good value.

This was a last minute booking for 8 people & they were very happy to accommodate us. The pub had a really lovely welcoming feel to it. William was our waiter for the evening and he was very attentive and chatty. All of the food was excellent and we all had a thoroughly nice evening. Would definitely dine here again.

Just spent a lovely time with friends at The Dolphin, Botley. It was made extra special due to the excellent food, waiting staff and the care. I booked a table online - very easy to do - but missed out, unfortunately, that one of the friends had a pepper corn allergy. The staff were very caring, and having chatted to the chef, Mike decided on a Ploughman's Lunch, which looked fab and plentiful. All are meals were very tasty - Haddock and Chips - 5 Bean Chilli - Sausage and Mash - and Chicken and Stilton Stack. The ambience inside was very good, with a lovely outside eating area. 3 hours free parking in the car park at the rear of the pub. We will return.

Booked the Dolphin for a friends surprise lunch, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. The service was fantastic so thanks to William and Jess who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome with their professionalism and friendliness. As for the food it was amazing so also thanks to the chef and kitchen crew.. We all have food envy of each others meals..😂 so thankyou again for making it so special…and we will be back 👍

I seldom visit Botley but I always go to the Dolphin when I do. It's a pleasant, friendly pub with a nice selection of drinks. The food is quite good.

We held my Mums Celebration of Life at the Dolphin, nothing was too much trouble and everything was taken care of so my day was as stress free as it could be. The food was just fantastic, as was the service. I cannot thank Steve, Cliff & The team enough. Highly recommend!

We go here for the team quiz on a Wednesday night. Did have a problem with the food this time but this was rectified with a refund, so all good. Will be going again soon 😊

First time in this pub since it was a Hungry Horse many moons ago. We stopped by for an impromptu early Friday supper and were not disappointed. We were greeted at the bar by a fantastic guy who could not do enough for us. Fantastic service and great food - we tucked into southern fried chicken wraps and some great crispy fries. The decor and atmosphere of the pub is lovely too. We'll be back - to try Breakfast and the Sunday Roast too!

Brilliant Sunday Lunches and fabulous team and service. The same throughout the week. They have now added an Ordering App, you can now order from your table. A Winter Warmer Menu has been added, family recipes which appeal to all.

Dropped in for lunch on a whim but am very glad we did. I had the pie which was really good, best pie I’ve had in a long time. My partner had the fish finger sandwich (which she always gets everywhere we go) and seemed to love it. Staff were all super friendly and professional, had a decent Guinness with my pie. And price was very reasonable. All in all, can’t fault it, highly recommend. Only small note I’d add to management if you read this, please add the option to leave a tip on the card machines. I left what little cash I had on me but would have been happy to leave a larger tip had the opportunity been there. No service charge on the bill, which I know may be appreciated by some, but good service deserves to be rewarded and your staff are fantastic.

Delicious as always. The best kebab around. minimal grease, plenty of meat, and the sauce in with all the meat and not just the top. Easily the best around Sutton and surrounding areas.

Car parking fine of £100. Why would you hand your parking to a private car park firm that charge huge fines for village parking......? left a bitter taste 2 weeks after visiting when that letter arrived.

I had Sunday lunch here with a friend. My friend had the roast turkey & found it quite dry. I would have liked the roast. However, I have a cows' milk allergy so asked if it was suitable for me. I was told that I couldn't have the Yorkshire pudding (as I'd expect), the sausage or the roast potatoes. To substitute for the latter I was offered boiled potatoes. I like boiled potatoes, but I feel that roast potatoes are an integral part of the roast, so not to have them would make this a different meal. I'd ask that the pub doesn't cook their potatoes in anything milky (butter, I'm guessing) so that everyone can have them. I ended up with the vegan beetroot burger as that seemed the only dish which didn't have milk in. It was nice, & you got 2 burgers, which was generous. On a more positive note, the staff were friendly & the service good. The staff also had a good knowledge of their menu, including being able to recite the specials available, which was impressive. This is a nice pub.

We were in botley for a works catch up, we decided to try the Dolphin after a meal over the road, the pub was busy on a friday night so it did take a few minutes to get served, i normally drink in a Wadsworth pub and 6x is my favourite pint, unfortunatly the drink i got at the dolphin was not the best ive had, maybe it was coming to the end of the barrel or had been sitting in the lines i dont know, but due to the pub being busy i decided to leave the pint out of the way, all the other guys who had lagers seemed happy, so maybe this was just a rouge pint, on a plus side all the staff were happy and there was a good atmosphere in the pub

The best gluten free pie I've tasted. Steak and ale with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables. My husband enjoyed his 'special' of honey and ginger glazed steak. Compliments sent to the chef! Beautiful food and large portion. Did not try a starter and too full for a desert. The staff were very attentive and friendly too.
