You'd expect a nice sandwich from a café called The Sandwich Shop in Sandwich. The sandwiches are given trendy names but they are mediocre. There wasn't very much tea, not even two full teacups from each pot. The shop was very small and crowded. All tables were occupied; there were four people at one table and they had to move to let us out, and there was also a woman with a small child in a pushchair and as a consequence very little room, even the staff had difficulty getting to the tables. The staff were unenthusiastic.

Booked for a Christmas lunch with my parents, on arrival was told they had no booking for us and Christmas lunch was for a minimum of 6 people, I was not informed this on the telephone booking. Was offered anything of the normal menu, which we declined as we did not go for a burger and chips. This was a special event for my father as he is an ex miner from there!! Customer care could have been better, no manager currently in position, hence we left disappointed, went to a lovely country pub for our meal which was more than accommodating.

Very rude lady behind the counter serving - dark hair - didn’t want to be there - so don’t !! No smile , no friendliness. Your not doing us a favour we are the customer - the young girls bringing drinks out were smiling and attentive please take a head out of there book - disgraceful behaviour treating customers with such disrespect

A family of 7 of us visited The Thompsons Bell on Sunday 13th April 2025. WOW! As a big lover of a roast dinner, I can honestly say this was the very best we have ever had! The portions were so big we were all unable to finish our meals. There were 6 different veg served with the meal, yorkies, stuffing balls, roasties, 3 meats, pigs in blankets, two extra boats of gravy, crackling, all the trimmings, all the sauces you would expect - all home made and absolutely delicious. The waitresses were attentive and kept checking that everything was OK, kept asking us all if we wanted more drinks, and kept us happy throughout the meal. The choice of starters and desserts was also excellent. I can personally recommend the rhubarb crumble with fresh cream! At the time of writing this roast dinner cost £11.50 per person (smaller portion and cheaper is available for children if required) which is £7 cheaper than another local Deal pub that I won't mention here. Absolute best value for money for a delicious roast dinner you will ever find! Well done Thompsons Bell - we will be back!!

Rev We ordered from Saffron for the first time and were really impressed! We chose the set menu and appreciated that they were happy to accommodate a change to one of the dishes. The portion sizes were generous, and every dish was fresh and full of flavor. Everything arrived hot and well-packaged, and the quality was excellent. It’s great to know we have such a reliable and tasty Indian takeaway nearby. We’ll definitely be ordering again! Highly recommend.

When we first arrived we were a bit shocked by the stairs to our room but that was the only bad thing about the place. The staff were very welcoming, the food was tasty and a reasonable price. A full breakfast was included and the Chef even booked a cab for us. Highly recommended if you are looking for an authentic English pub.

As a family of 5 we staggered into this delightful cafe on a boiling hot day in August 2020 and were hugely impressed with the service and freshly cooked food. Everything was fresh and hot and despite the fact that they were understaffed when we went in (and it was the end of the Government eat out to help out scheme) they were incredibly friendly and professional despite some very rude other customers. Good old fashioned food and great value for money. If I lived nearer then I would definitely be a regular customer!
