Saffron Indian Takeaway in Dover

Saffron Deal - delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Every mouthful was fabulous! Chicken Monsuri is my husbands favourite dish and is a must. The biryani was light and fluffy with loads of chicken tikka and the lamb rogan josh was tender and plentiful. Not forgetting the huge onion bhajis - Thank you to Naz and the team for awesome food!

I often order from Saffron and the food is good. Sadly today it was grim, the vindaloo BP were chasing me for the oil. could have run the land Rover on it for a month. Had to drain the oil before eating Will be going elsewhere in future

Food was a good taste as always, however the price has increased by approximately 12% and the portion size has decreased by about 20%!! We will be looking for a new Indian take-away after 6 loyal years

Naz and his team at Saffron took such good care of us. My husband and I wanted yo celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary with a curry at Kingsdown International Camping for 35 people. We coordinated a few days in advance with a preorder that could be amended up until the very last minute. Naz is professional and communicative. Louise, our delivery driver was prompt, making sure that the food was delivered hot. We had tons of positive comments about the quality and flavour of the food. Delicious. Nice I could give more than 5 stars 🌟 I would. Would highly recommend.

I ordered my meal online on the confusing online menu, We eventually ordered our choices of Vegetable balti Mixed balti Along with various sides that we normally order to accompany our meal, it’s the first takeaway/restaurant where haven’t been given a complimentary plain naan with both Baltis. I “luckily” ordered a garlic naan for myself and my partner to share but this was soggy and flavourless. Our mains were simply awful on opening both baltis they were both swimming in grease to the point I had to drain through a sieve. I wish I had taken a photo once I had drained them as there was a little under 500ml of oil drained of our food. The alarm bells should of already been there but time was getting on so we decided against ringing up to complain as we very hungry and like I said time was getting on and would of been to late to get a response etc… Well the meat was tough the special rice wasn’t that appetising either Bombay potato wasn’t to bad, we haven’t used Saffron for a number of years due to feedback we have had from our friends. Will we use again definitely not especially being kept up most the night feeling unwell.

We thought we would try Saffron for a change but was sadly disappointing. The chicken tikka masala was hard, there was only 2 pieces of cheese in the paneer and the mushroom rice barely had a piece of mushroom in it and was a very small portion. Even the garlic naan barely tasted of garlic. The flavours were quite fairly nice but we certainly wouldn’t go back.

We had a delivery from here tonight, we usually use star of India but the last 2/3 from there were not as nice as usual so thought we would try saffron. We will definitely be ordering again, was so tasty, nice kick to my curry too. Thank you saffron.

A tasty meal, that is a cut above the mainstream takeaway’s around. They have some interesting specials.

The Tandoori chicken was tasty, not dry as it could have been and overall a toothsome pleasure. My friend's lamb meal was fine, but he wished he'd had something with more bite - not a criticism so much as an admission of choosing wrongly. The rice dishes were good; it's hard to get them wrong but I'm sure some could manage it. The waiting time was minimal, even on a Saturday evening.

Here on holiday . This meal was every bit as good as our favourite at home . 3 dishes and sides ordered .

Part of the order was Korai chicken described as being 'in a medium spiced sauce' unfortunately mine has no spice taste whatsoever. The cheese naan was described as 'stuffed with home-made cottage cheese' however the cheese tasted suspiciously like a cheap substitute eg.cheddar or similar and was missing around the outer part anyway. Took the time to follow their online complaints procedure which was completely ignored so this is the result.

This Indian takeaway is one of the best we've ever been too. There food is fresh and fantastic flavours and the staff on the counter is very good at describing there meals and in all very helpful and pleasant.

I love a smooth full flavour meal, with more flavour than heat and this did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken mushroom tawa, and wow!! If you order this then prepare yourself for a flavour explosion; rich, sweet with hints of sour, all the flavours so well balanced. Occasionally there was a bite of a mild chilli, but nothing so crazy it takes away any of the flavour. This restaurant certainly merits further investigation! I’ll be back! Thank you

Meal arrived on time, food beautifully cooked, perfect flavours, arrived hot and fresh, absolutely delicious 😋

Customers for many years. Sadly disappointed by poor meal, grumpy lady serving and bad after customer care. Burnt poppadoms with no chutney (apparently chutney is now an extra & 70p per portion). Sag aloo (not sure what happened to spinach... carrots seem to have replaced), and unsure re tough meat in tikka masala. Worst meal ever from what used to be a great takeaway within walking distance. Phoned after opening food as so disappointed but fobbed off with ‘next visit’ discount offer & then ‘manager’ just rude... doubt there will be another visit!

Great meal from Saffron. Fresh and tasty. Have been ordering from them for the last couple of years and this is the best meal so far!!

We have been using this take away for over 10 years and tonight was the last time . Order our food to be delivered , once it arrived we realised the rice was missing so we rang them up and the young girl on the phone and her manager accused us of lying about it . I’ve never been so insulted in my life, I certainly wouldn’t lie about 1 portion of rice . I will be telling everyone about this .

Was told that this take-away is under New management as of approximately a month ago.As a newbie to the area , finding places that are open in these challenging times will be interestingOrdered Butter chicken (or Chicken Makhani (or Butter Chicken) with rice and decided to go for the Chicken Pakura, as something new to me.Butter Chicken was absolutely delicious. A good potion of well seasoned chicken, freshly prepared with a great sauce. This was accompanied by light fluffy rice.The Chicken Pakura ws described as cubes of spiced Chicken in batter, served with mint sauce. My only criticism would be that the batter was a little on the soggy side - I would have preferred something a little more crispy, but this is a personal choice. The Chicken was breast meat freshly prepared, fell apart beautifully and was very tasty. The flavour was a nice fusion with the good tasting mint sauce.At £14.80 for the meal I found it reasonable value. Food was ready within 20 minutes of order.I will certainly be back!

Told 1 hr wait. After 2 hrs and 36 ignored phone calls I drove down there to be told it was now on route... no apology whatsoever. The last time we ordered one of the dishes was wrong, so we will not bother again, shame as the food is normally good

We got back from a long drive through France on Sunday and decided to get a take away, we used to use Saffron a lot and the reviews looked good. We ordered online, it didn’t mention anything about a delivery charge that we could see! which was £2.50, we were 90p short and would have bought something else to make it up. The meal arrived, for such a short distance the starters were cold, the papadums were not the normal crunchy light ones, I had these once before in a restaurant and I think they are pre made and not gluten free, where as papadums normally are, the curry was just ok, the nicest thing was the pilau rice, which was yummy. We were going to collect, would have saved £2.50 and it would have been hot. We may give it another chance as we loved it before when we lived on the strand a while ago.

Use saffron regularly normally fantastic food... However..I live two minutes walk away. The food from this place is fantastic, sadly service is shocking, a wait of nearly 2 hours is becomming the norm. for delivery It is with great shame but I will not be ordering from them again

Three of us had takeaway from here and loved it. We’ve had food from here many times and never had a complaint. The curries, naan and rice are all lovely.

Saffron always provide the most amazing quality food and great service but tonight was even better I asked Abz to just make me what ever he recommend and he certainly delivered it was without doubt the best Indian meal I have ever tasted

Myself and my wife were down visiting her parents and we decided to have an Indian. They had heard that this was a good take away. So we tried it. We ordered on there website which was very simple to follow. Sometimes a bit slow. We went to pick it up after about 30 minutes and it was being brought out as we entered the restaurant. Every one was happy with there food. Good portion sizes and flavour. I would dread to think what the large rice portion size would be. The only disappointment was the Bombay aloo, but I think it was a poor potato. We definitely recommend it.

Thought we would try Saffron as a change from our regular takeaway given the good TA reviews. We had the meal for two with extra samosas. Overall we were not really impressed. Positives, the onion bhajis and dupiaza were tasty. Negatives, the whole meal was warm not hot, Rogan gosh was really chewy, the naan was also very chewy, we had the impression that the meal was probably cooked and ready 30 minutes before leaving the restaurant. The samosas, really poor value, it was the smallest portion I have ever seen. Overall disappointing, fortunately there is much better in town, don't think we will be using again

you have to give this takeaway a try if you love indian food very authentic at a good price always good.

Ordered a selection of dishes for 13 adults. Food arrived on time, hot and was delicious! Good value too. No complaints from anyone!

My friend and I ordered a take-away for three, from an extensive menu including set meals. Extremely good value, very well prepared food, excellent use of spices and friendly staff. Delivery was free and the man came up to the second floor, a bonus. Will definitely be returning.

A very tasty takeaway. Generous portions and good value for money. I rung ahead and the food was ready, still nice and hot when I got it home.

In all honesty I found the Tikka Masala very very sweet but it would be my only criticism. Other than that the pieces of prawn were huge! The rice was wonderful and the Sag Aloo was beautiful tasting with delicate flavour and a huge portion. Happy with this local :)

Déjà l accueil à revoir pas un sourire, quand on pose des questions on a l impression de déranger . Jamais eu des plats pareils , le tikka massala rouge vif avec du colorant . Beaucoup de sauce pour peu de poulet. Le riz pilaf avec du colorant vert fluo et rouge rose fluo ! Du jamais vu ! Dommage !

We are on holiday at St Margarets Bay & collected a Take Away from here on Tuesday when they opened

We had a curry from Saffron last night. We used their internet ordering tool which I must say is fantastic. It pulls up their menu and you tick the boxes for the items you want, each time you select an item it adds it to your order box and shows you the total price, it's really easy to order and to see what you are going to pay, no confusion on what you are ordering, or the price when it arrives. We ordered 2 curries, 2 rice, onion bhajis, samosas and peshwari naan (£28 and free delivery). All of the food tasted really good. My only comment would be about the portion size of the onion bhajis and samosas, for the same price (£2.50) you get 5 bhajis (good portion) but only 2 small samosas (not so good). All in all a very good curry for a reasonable price. My only real gripe would be the delivery time 70 minutes from placing the order at 19:45, which for a Thursday night we thought was a little excessive. Would definitely use again and recommend.

Not your usual 3 pot English curry house takeaway. Good food generous portions and welcoming service. Can be very busy. We only use this when in Deal & Walmer

I have regularly used Saffron for about 6 years. The staff are friendly and helpful and Abs, the proprietor is lovely guy. I have not had a bad meal from there and I am steadily working my way through all the options. Their app and website are great for ordering on line as very easy to follow...which is saying something bearing in mind that computers and phones generally hate me... I recommend Saffron.

We’ve been here for both a sit down meal and takeaway. Food is authentic and plentiful and suited our taste!

I have used this takeaway about once a month for the past 3 years and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience! The food is always very tasty, really good quality ingredients, and delivered still nice and hot every time. I always have a biryani and there is always plenty of pieces of chicken and the vegetable curry is delicious. I cannot recommend this takeaway highly enough!

I really enjoy the food and it's fresh taste. Have been here on several occasions in the last few months and the same high standard with quality in portion size and flavour have always been excellent.

Good food, friendly staff on the desk. We collected our food so ordered and waited in house. Comfortable seating to wait on and food was a normal wait. Portions were good and food was tasty. Not the best mint dip I’ve ever tasted but pretty good. Popadoms were delicious - crisp and not greasy. Price wise pretty much average to the area, possibly marginally higher.

Ordered a take away on our first night after a long drive. Food was fine had starters and mains decent size portions and reasonable price.

Whilst on holiday we were unfortunate enough to use this take away and I have to say it is one of the most disappointing Indian meals ever ....we ordered 7 dishes plus starters, bread and rice etc. The dishes were all extraordinarily bland, no flavour let alone spiciness and worst of all the so called sag paneer was spinach with melted cheddar on top !?!?! Very very poor.

A great Indian take away, consistently quality fresh tasting food and good size portions. I've been here a few times now they always seem fairly busy but pretty good at getting food ready in a decent time. Highly recommended.

Nice food, plentiful portions, arrived on time. Slightly inconvenient that they don't have any menus available online, but they had all the dishes we asked for on the phone.

This was the best Indian takeaway I've ever had. We had a set meal for two and they happily replaced a lamb dish with a prawn one. The service was friendly, the portion sizes were large and the food (especially the chicken dupiaza) was superb. Excellent value and I only wish that we lived nearby and weren't just in Walmer on holiday!

Had another meal from Saffron tonight, having tried all of the others this, in my opinion, is the best in the area! Food is always piping hot and extremely fragrant and tasty...sometimes there is a bit of a wait during busy periods, but if it wasn't a busy restaurant i'd personally be a bit worried! My favourite dish is their chicken tikka chilli garlic...out of this world! The manager is extremely friendly and polite, and always gives a great service. I give this place top marks!!

Absolutely fuming .ordered a meal 1 korma ,1 Masala and the rest of the order 'abs' the manager knew about, received two kormas .,when phoned the restaurant was told only ordered korma ,then realised they had cocked up and sent a Masala to us but ordered that we give the original korma back, probably to re sell,which actually is against the law abs the manager was very rude basically saying he had given us the Masala for free ,which we had no interest in, we are just more concerned they are re using second hand food ,first time we have used this restaurant,will not be using it again,food wasn't that good anyway ,if you like dealing with ignoramuses and prefer second rate Indian food ,then this is the restaurant for you,good luck.

We just had to recommend the saffron takeaway. The staff are very friendly, professional and make you feel welcome. the food in over 2 years, we have never had a single problem. Now we get a takeaway every 2 weeks and after moving to deal area 2 years ago, we tried a few in the area. Saffron was by far the best. The extra special touch of remembering your name when you come in to order makes you feel valued. Good food, excellent price and always reliable. thankyou

Have used saffron a few times food is always good if you spend over 20 quid its delivered free it is without doubt the best value indian takeaway in walmer and deal staff are friendly and food is always nice and venue is clean and tidy

I have used this takeaway for 3 years now, & have only had cause to complain once, which overall is not bad, chefs need holidays & stand ins have their own ideas on how certain dishes should be cooked, the staff are always friendly & polite, food is always freshly cooked & piping hot, this is still my favourite for Indian takeaway.

Of the many takeaways in Deal and Walmer this consistently produces the best Indian food...always freshly cooked and delicious. The proprietor makes every customer feel very welcome and if there's something you want that's not on the menu he'll always try to accommodate your wishes.

I use Saffron quite often, and I can honestly say the food really is beautiful. Great flavours, dishes are always piping hot, half portions available (which are great for me) and very friendly staff. I highly recommend this Indian takeaway to anyone :))

Without fail always polite service. The gentleman who runs/owns the business remembers me by my order; a trait of those not only in business, but 'involved' in said business. Polite and accurate always. The quality and flavour of the food, in my humble opinion, is hard to compete with locally. And I've tried all. Finally, if you like a hotter than hot curry (and I do), but packed with flavour to boot, then the naga phall is for you!

Having read the reviews we visited Saffron and ordered a take away. We were deeply disappointed when we unwrapped our order and started to eat. I always order rogan josh from Indian restaurants because I enjoy it. I can honestly say that the Saffron rogan josh was tasteless. It was the worst that I have ever bought. It was as if the chef had forgotten to put the spices in. Similarly the chana masala was uninteresting. It was as if the recently soaked chickpeas had been thrown into a dry sauce. It lacked good flavours. The mata paneer....we couldn't eat. We deduced that cheddar cheese had been melted over a collection of peas and other diced vegetables. The nan bread and the ali gobi were ok.We may have been unlucky and caught the restaurant on a bad night. I don't know. I just know that we did not have a good experience ...and were expecting one.

Have had deliveries from here several times. Has always been excellent and it is a real treat undoing all of the packs and smelling the perfectly blended spices. Meat quantity is excellent. I always order the medium hot meal deal and it is amazing. This is a pure take away/delivery establishment and not a restaurant.

Lovely grub, friendly staff, lil pricy but would deffo recommend always fills the gap, always cooked on time no waiting.

I have tried nearly all of the indian take aways in deal and saffron is the best by far! The owner is very friendly and the food is always spot on! I wouldn't dream of using amywhere else now! Parking can be a nightmare when picking up food as it is on the main road but a delivery service is also available.

Ok so in Deal the choice for indian takeaway is limited...... However this really doesn't matter as Saffron is by far and away the best indian takeaway I have tried.....and there's been a few!Front of house service is extremely professional and polite and the advice on dishes that may take my fancy is often spot on. There is on occasion a bit of a wait for delivery at busy times but that really is only a sign of a good takeaway. It really is very good quality and a perfectly reasonable price!

I don't know why I've not reviewed Saffron before because my mum has it every Friday! The only indian takeaway she will have and she lives in Dover.... She recently moved away from Deal and tried most of the other Indian takeaways (within a 5mile radius!) and always comes back to this one..... Which kind of days it all really. There food is amazing and the sauces are nice and thick (not all runny) and the meat is real chunks (not just pre-cut slices) and the people are just so nice, if you do want something spicier or milder - they will do there best to make it how you want it. The only downside is that they are so popular it can sometimes take a while for delivery/collection, so don't expect it in a hurry. Apart from that, would highly recommend.

Drove from Dover to pick the meal up after a friends recommendation. The food was beautiful all really good size clean portions great value good service and still hot by the time I got home all round perfect will definitely use again

Saffron in Deal in definitely one of the better takeaways. Delivery is fast and the food is hot. Good choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Food is tasty and moreish.

Have had takeaway meals on a few occasions and each time it has been good. The flavours are slightly different compared to takeaways from other local curry houses - a bit more of Northern Indian touch.Chicken Karahi is worth a go with fresh rotis. The pricing is good value.

it might not say much for other takeaways to make the point that every dish has a distinct texture and flavour, but it's worth it in the case of the Saffron's consistently excellent menu, which is also extraordinarily good value.

Stayed with a group of friends very near Saffron and decided to have a takeaway one evening. They were very helpful, gave accurate descriptions of dishes we didn't know, gave us a very good discount for a large order and delivered free of charge AND the meal was one of the best I've ever had. Hot, delicious and plenty for all of us. Will very definitely use this takeaway again when we revisit Deal.
