Very rude lady behind the counter serving - dark hair - didn’t want to be there - so don’t !! No smile , no friendliness. Your not doing us a favour we are the customer - the young girls bringing drinks out were smiling and attentive please take a head out of there book - disgraceful behaviour treating customers with such disrespect

A lovely place right on the beach, very nice friendly staff, a large selection of sandwiches and cakes. A ham and cheese baguette with salad garnish £4:75 and was certainly enough for a lunch, would definitely recommend and use again if we were in the area

What initially seemed like merely a convenient place to stop for a cuppa, emerged as a bit of a find. A really fine pot of tea, lovely cake, and sandwiches well above the average - including a cheese and ham toastie to die for. All with a lovely sea view and bright, cheerful service.

I was cycling past and decided to get a takeaway coffee. The doors and serving hatch were open and two staff were in there. The lady wouldn't serve because they were not open for 15 minutes. I heard the man say the coffee machine was ready. The woman folded her arms and stood her ground. She would obviously rather stand there doing nothing than make some money.

I have just bought an orange gin with lemonade, and been given lemon gin with tonic. When asking to have it changed, I was told “no it was definitely orange.” And they refused to change it for me. My friend before me ordered lemon gin, and they tasted the exact same. Unimpressed and really let down that the staff would not pour me a new drink. Won’t be returning. The orange gin they use, makes drinks go bright orange. My drink was white.

Friendly welcome and lovely and warm inside this tastefully decorated cafe with sea views. Proper 2 cup teapot and perfect cappuccino arrived in good time. My husband chose chowder which he said was delicious with big chunks of a selection of fish and served with a fresh crusty roll. I had a simple cheese jacket potato but pleased the cheese was freshly grated with a nice salad garnish. We passed on the delicious looking cakes but will be back for a slice of those another time. I saw there was a large selection of soft and alcoholic drinks available. All in all a nice treat after a very chilly walk.

Wanted a quick bite with my mum. The food tastes terrible, like microwaved overpriced gross frozen food..my food ended up quite soggy. My coffee cup was not clean. In a nearly empty tiny place, it was so hard to get staff attention. Awful, rude, dismissive staff, Paige I think her name, all on her phone, looked annoyed when i wanted to ask anything! Way better priced foods a few minutes walk away!

We called in to Route One Cafe as we had travelled to Deal for a day out with family. Walked from the Castle and along the promenade and on to the Pier the weather was not to bad on 28/10/19. We left the pier and stopped off at this little place for coffees and a bite to eat. I ordered a bowl of smoked haddock with bacon chowder with a freshly baked roll. My wife had a cheese & ham toastie,my sister in-law had a mozzarella cheese and tomato toastie. All the food was good and tasty as was the coffees price reasonable, was good place to rest our feet and then continue with our walking around Deal. Nice little place.

Having walked into Deal we wanted a quick coffee and cake. The views from this cafe are wonderful. Located almost on the beach you can see the sea from the outside tables and from the window inside so you are never disappointed. The cakes are unusual and amazingly delicious. I’m not usually adventurous with cakes but decided to opt for the matcha, jasmine and raspberry cake (I need this recipe but cannot find it anywhere) in spite of it being quite green. I was not disappointed - it was absolutely beautiful. The sandwiches were huge and generously filled. A fabulous cafe with lovely staff, a great location and amazing cakes. Treat yourself.

A truly revolting lunch. The so called ‘cook’ was wearing filthy clothes and his disgusting clothes matched his disgusting attitude. I can’t imagine what the hygiene ratings are. All 3 lunches were horrible, 2 x Prawn sandwiches .... soggy bread, tasteless cheap prawns, no seafood sauce, however apparently the sauce was the reason for the inedible soggy bread oh and dried up cucumber on the side of the plate. Avocado and poached egg ... hard cold poached eggs, soggy sourdough, and tasteless undressed rocket salad. This place clearly relies on passing trade because no locals would ever make a return visit.Never ever again.

Sadly this little beachside cafe failed to live up to my expectations. My mum and I were waiting for our orders for what seemed like forever. Service was appalling. My mum ordered a ham and cheese toastie, only to get a ham and cheese sandwich instead. Also, the teacup was dirty and not washed properly. I ordered a tiger prawn dish, which looked terrible. You call a few rocket leaves on a plate 'salad'? The prawns also smelled like they'd gone off because they stunk to high heaven. If you're going to a cafe or restaurant by the Deal seafront, take a different route to a better place. Never again.

I feel I need to leave a review, unfortunately the cycle cafe is not what it used to be.. the previous owners used to do lovely bagels and a variety of food, it was also very fresh, we visited a couple of days ago and had a toasted sandwich which was pretty poor, and the salad was not washed, it was dirty, it's a real shame as it used to be lovely. I don't know how this cafe will last? It was a mid-week lunchtime and we wanted a simple sandwich, but they didn't have ham, then they didn't have pickle to go with cheese. They recommended the quiche, but said it cost more as it came with coleslaw and potato salad. They weren't busy, but EVENTUALLY it appeared, without the sides....guess what they'd run out! The food was very good, freshly made, tasty & perfectly prepared. It's on a great location, on the seafront near the pier. This cafe is popular & directed towards cyclists & very popular. The downside.....The dreadfully miserable look on the young woman's face. We were greeted with a sad woeful visage only seen at funerals. I was left feeling rather depressed before I'd ordered. In fact, I had to ask if anything dreadful had happened because of the gloom. The dark haired young waitress tried her best to up her game with being more cheerful...Look, I know I'm not going out to be entertained, but a little basic customer service is quite a normal thing to expect.

I had some scepticism about this place, perhaps because of its old unglamorous incarnation. But two visits here have convinced me that it s a great amenity. For one thing it does porridge and granola (yay!). And the granola is not too sweet (boding well for the cyclists cereal bars), accompanied with really fruity, not too sweet compote and loads of unsweetened yummy plain yogurt. So a really healthy, tasty breakfast. They also do a healthy version of a cooked breakfast, great tea and excellent tea cakes. And those are only the bits we've tried! Plus great views, friendly efficient service and top bike magazines in case you get bored of the view (!). What's not to like?

Took a chance with this place following reviews, the pub itself was a little bit tired but that was more than made up with the welcome from the staff and service. Our order for food was taken to the extra mile for my wife, who is a vegetarian, an alternative the to the menu was offered and accepted. The food was fantastic and the staff clearly understand the clientele very well, we also had the dessert of apple crumble, which was enormous and very satisfying, well done to whoever baked this dish. All in all a great meal and service from the ladies who made us welcome and looked after us all.
