Deal Beach Parlour in Dover

Our family were in deal for the bank holiday . Bought some ice creams from outside - my daughter and I went in to see the selector of ice creams that were on sale. An extremely rude lady with blonde hair was quite annoyed that we were looking clearly thinking we were trying to jump the queue - which we weren’t - on making our decision we rejoined the queue outside and then when she served us was extremely unpleasant and rude once again to my daughter - please remember we are the customer and spending £16 for take away ice creams / yes you were busy and making a lot of money - treat customers with respect !!

Awful service this week Monday 29th pm. Newly decorated but already looking dirty, highchair looked to have a pool of urine on seat? Toasted sandwich not cooked and server Charlotte very rude insisting it was perfectly cooked. Wrong pudding served.Saw inside store room as Charlotte left door open, disgusting. Male server seemed distracted and seemed to not want to serve and clean machines, hurrying customers to leave. Staff told me there was no manager on shift or shift lead ,nor did they know when manager would be in? Felt bullied by staff. Large party eating chips from chip shop and staff said nothing ! Cakes on display looked dry and stale. Toilets stinky and filthy. Avoid this place at all costs !!

An almost unkindly service and yet extremely expensive! Never again, its some sort of waylayering. But they are the Beach Parlour, so they give a damn about reviews.

I have been visiting this ice parlour since I was a young boy and as I have grown older have taken my own children there as well. We visited recently and see they have had a major revamp inside and it looks amazing . I had to have my usual knickerbocker glory and this was as usual really good . One of the staff Barbara has been there many years and is still there .

After having a lovely lunch at the beach parlour, my friend and I who are both disabled need to use the little girls room. It has been done out lovely especially as it all on one level now. BUT as the toilets are so low and me being tall I had trouble getting off of it. I mentioned to the manger/owner it might be a good idea to put grab rails up. Her very curt reply was we were more than welcome to use Route one facilities further up the road as they had them. Don't think we will be going in there again. Shame as my family have been going there since my 91 Yr old mum did her courting there with my dad from the age of 14. I don't normally put this type of status up but we are so upset over this.

Not given to writing poor reviews but needs must. Only ordered two Mr Whippy ice-creams but the girl behind the counter got the order wrong! The card reader was thrown down. Has the card been accepted? A grunted response. Nothing positive to say and spoiled a lovely day. There are plenty of places to go where you might be treated with some respect. Or, at the very least, with politeness. And, to top it all, the ice-cream ended up in the bin because the appalling service had left a bad taste in the mouth.

Visited yesterday as the weather was beautiful. Always a winner with all of us . So much to choose from and you can sit in or take away . For us as a family we buy and take across the road and sit on the sea benches . I love the 99 in pink and white . I’d love to show you photo but I don’t post children so sorry. This is an iconic place to go .

I've been coming here for over 20 years' and I have in all that time been served courteously and with good grace. The Pannini has changed and when we asked we were told in a really rude "Don't eat it then..." such charming manners and just a little thought or kinder response. The waitess did not look like she wanted to be there. The food has gone up in price and the bread style was doughy. Won't be going back so sadly the end of an era.

Visited here for the first time. Lovely views, extensive ice cream menu, and very clean. Very good value for money too. We had a fruit and nut sundae, a bottle of water, tea and biscuits for a tenner. Fab! Only reason I haven't given 5 stars in the service was a bit slow. Would definitely go back to sample some more yummy ice creams!

This place is amazing I love it. All of the food and drinks are so good, I love the new look (Decor) very clean, the staff listen to all of your requests.my grandparents always take us there. I give it 5/5 stars round of applause to the owners. thank you for all that you do for Deal

I have to say Deal Beach Parlour is a lovely café over looking the English Channel Just along from Deal Pier. The new upgrade is awesome and I love the fresh vibrant colours along with the new Serving area, A wonderful selection of different Ice-Cream flavours, Cakes along with hot and cold meals, one thing I did notice was that DBP is spotlessly clean and presents itself well, when I visit any café I always check out the toilets (Spotless) that speaks for itself the staff are very professional and cater for all needs. I noticed an Ice-Cream Clock on the wall which is awesome too. All in all with our experience they get 5*****s, a very happy family indeed we will be going there again.

I was dumbstruck when I walked in after couple of months absence to see what they have done to the decor of my previously favourite Deal eating place. The cosy traditional ice cream parlour ive loved for many years now sports bland white tiles and bare walls. Furthermore, they've taken my favourite toastie, cheese and beans, off the menu. And my hot dog came with dried crispy onions rather than fried ones. Oh dear, a sad day indeed.

Visited today with my Family for a coffee and snack , great enviroment, smashing Toasties . Great catering for the little people with fun milkshake bottle and ice cream dish . Very fair prices making it a great pit stop ,Friendly smart staff,will most certainly return .Oh and immaculate toilet facilities! A credit to the owner .

Really disappointed with their new look, has lost the charm & atmosphere that made it stand out from the rest. Just like any other cafe now, the cup of tea we both had wasn’t that good either. Have always had great visits here previously from snacks/ice cream to just a cuppa but won’t be visiting as often now 🥲

We dropped by on a very hot Sunday afternoon and the queue for take away was massive, but then you try the ice cream and you understand why, it’s excellent, staff are really friendly as well, if you want ice cream this is the go to place in Deal, only suggestion is go inside and grab a table, it avoids the long queue.

They had no chips we all had panni very poor quailty was burnt bacon was frazzled kids meal very limted choice a lot of money for just snacks

Popped into deal beach parlour today to have a spot of lunch with my auntie who is severely disabled to be greeted by such friendly staff who was very helpful when came to my auntie food was delicious and presentation was great will definitely be returning! Well done deal beach parlour! Only thing I would add is a disabled toilet would be amazing but everything else is 5*

As usual the icecream sundaes were wonderful but the staff left a lot to be desired more interested in their nails and hair sadly. Hygiene questionable. Where has all the friendly staff gone.

Really looking forward to our visit but wished we hadn’t bothered … Staff were so rude & had no knowledge of what good customer service is. They looked like they didn’t want to be there, no smiles no acknowledgment or interaction of any kind. We won’t be back

Oh dear! What a dirty place with staff that have no customer service or basic hygiene knowledge. We ordered an ice-cream sundae, a Fanta and a cup of tea. The tea was returned twice on account of pieces floating in it (looked like a couple of fingernails) and also watching the surly girl make it and taking the teabag out after 10 seconds rendering the tea grey and tasteless. The girls behind the counter were applying lip gloss and running their fingers through their hair to rid themselves of loose strands. The tables are dirty, the skirting boards gross and a tupperware container at the end of the counter filled with grey water seems to be the order of the day for 'cleaning' the tables. We are local and have been on numerous occasions - it's always dirty but you can overlook it mostly as in the week the service is ok - the weekends are obviously very different.

Went here today with our two children aged 2 and 3, and as soon as we arrived we were looked at with distain by the women behind the counter. After we ordered, they appeared to be making snide comments to each other when we sat down. Hot dogs for the kids were poor, not proper sausages and tasted really cheap and peppery. When we left we never got a thank you or goodbye, and can 100% say, I would never give this establishment another penny!!

Right bang opposite the pier this is a Deal landmark. Liked the staff, service efficient, hit the mark !

Enjoyable UK Seaside Ice Cream Parlor loaded with all sorts of flavors and goodies! Family outing included an obligatory stop for ice cream before walking over to the steel pier. Several cones of different flavors, a banana split and a milkshake were also obtained. Quality products for sure. However, as nice as the ice cream was, the restrooms were abysmal. You had to walk down 4 steps to reach the two unisex units which hadn't been cleaned all day. A complete unsanitary disaster.

We visit here every time we visit Deal for an ice cream ,snack or drink. I first visited her over 60 years ago when my father brought us here in his car and have continued over the years bring my family and then my grandchildren.

Went in earlier, ordered the breakfast bap. It had hot dog sausage in, I was expecting a real sausage. Ruined the bap tbh. Ordered a latte with our baps and it wasn't very pleasant. Staff seemed stressed and aggrevated. I wouldn't go again.

Do lovely desserts...including knickerbocker glory, sundaes and waffles. Worth a visit. Friendly staff and very clean.

Popped in prior to leaving the area, fancied a yummy sundae as a treat. Ordered a couple of waffles and a sundae, not all for me ! The waffles were lovely, covered in quality ice cream and whipped cream, one with Nutella, other lotus biscoff. Really nice and a fab treat. With a lemon merengue sundae too, again looked so tasty.. all I thought well priced. Staff were friendly and polite, had no issues at all. Would definitely return when next in Deal, and a pleasure to have something like this from a independent trader and not a dodgy franchise chain of dessert shops.

Used to be excellent. Went there yesterday with grandchildren. All staff looked and acted in a totally pi**ed off manner, rolling their eyes when they wrongly served our order(which they read back to us). Scruffy staff who looked more like travellers than staff members. Table...

We are regulars here and have been for years. The icecream keeps fetching us back, whether it be for a stroll along the beach or sit down knickerbockerglory, all are good

We have used this establishmane for more deacdes than I care to remember and have now introduced grand children to it, who were equally impressed . Last visit had four generations of our family so they must be doing something right

With all the trendy and expensive/overpriced restaurants/bars etc in Deal now it's great that this place has retained it's charm. Would happily sit in here daily nursing a mug of Horlicks and people watching.

We went to the parlour to get milkshakes, having seen the big selection of ice cream flavours there. We thought we would get them, just blended with some milk, but we received milkshakes made from soft serve and chocolate syrup, which was far too sweet....

Popular seafront cafe serving drinks snacks and the ever popular Knickerbocker Glory. Paninies and toasted sandwiches were good and staff were attentive. Be prepared to queue for ice cream.

Been here on many occasions and always good food, offer snack/lunch items such as tosties and jacket potatoes, sandwhiches fresh cakes ect. Not overpriced, ice creams are amazing!

We visit the parlour on a montly basis and we are never disappointed! I can recommend the banana splits, waffles and coke floats. It can get quite busy here, especially the take away bit but it's well worth the wait. The ice cream is..... well creamy. Clean toilets which is a shared male/female service. Only criticism is that some of the staff can be quite dour and it would be nice if they could go really retro-like a milk bar from the 1950's.

Wonderful ice cream parlour and open all year round. Highly recommended! Whether you are there for breakfast, brunch, lunch or simply an ice-cream they are all delicious and quite good for money. The only thing is I would love it was open in the evenings for ice-creams and desserts only to give Kaspars a run for their money.

Every time I visit Deal, I have to stop off for an Ice cream in the Deal Beach Parlour. The sundaes are amazing, pick any one of their standard sundaes from the menu and you will be impressed! The kids love a dish of ice cream too and you can pick whichever flavour of ice cream you wish.

Love this place, it's so friendly with a lovely view of the pier. The icecream are to die for. For 5 generations my family have been coming here. Last summer the 5 generations all met here for our day out.

This place seems to have been around for years and is still serving excellent food that we had as kids. Ice cream deserts are to die for.

I have been coming here for over 20 years with my parents on holiday and my mum used to come to the beach parlour when she was a child in the 1950’s. It has not changed at all and we hope it never does! One of the few traditional places in Deal with a fantastic seafront view. It is the perfect place for a hot drink, milkshake or toastie. The milkshakes are thick and remind me of being in an old fashioned diner, the hotdogs and burgers with onions are to die for! This is the perfect spot to bring the kids for an ice cream and appears to remain a favourite for the locals to come in for a bite to eat at lunch. Nothing fancy here but a wonderful part of the community and we hope to continue coming here in the years to come. Dont ever change!

We paid a visit to the parlour as we had been taken as children by our grandparents. The pink and white 99 is the stuff of family legend....the pink and white ice cream was still on the menu but the flavour nothing like we remembered. They always used to be lovely and creamy now they are artificial and very much lacking in taste of texture. The children had a single scoop ice cream which they enjoyed but were very expensive at £2 for a small scoop!! The service was no where near making that a worthy price either.

Clean with good but limited range of ice creams with the enjoyment marred by a combative waitress called Chelsea. As a new resident of Deal I will be buying my ice creams elsewhere!

We’ve just returned from a day trip to Deal. I had organised a visit to the Beach Parlour the day before so I could take my class of 16 reception child for a Mr Whippy. The staff were friendly and welcoming, even though they were busy and I was ordering 21 ice-creams! The children (and us grown ups) loved them as they were delicious! Thank you, I’ll be back soon with my family.

Great selection of flavours my favourite being the simple soft ice which is absolutely delicious. Try the large one and you will be in heaven!

Found this cafe/ice cream parlour on our way back to meet our coach, stopped for a quick ice cream and was very pleased with what we had.

Miserable serving staff, weak tea and a glum Bakewell tart. Not my idea of seaside fun. Even the kids at the ice-cream counter were given short shrift.

Absolutely terrible. Staff were incredibly grumpy, rude and borderline confrontational. Could not see any reasonable excuse for their behaviour - many staff and not many customers = not over-worked. Food was so-so, but service was absolutely appalling. Should rename the place 'Fawlty Towers Beach Parlour'. Every single member of staff was miserable, rude, surly and apparently resentful that annoying customers were taking up their valuable time. We watched as customer after customer received the same level of surly, unfriendly rudeness; one particularly bad example was a sweet, excited little girl asking for an ice-cream cone, only to be resentfully served by a grumpy, unsmiling member of staff. Another member of staff dropped an order on the floor and then swore loudly, in front of families and children. Everyone working there needs to do some basic training in customer relations. We will never, ever go there again. Be warned!

I have been going to the beach parlour for a very long time. Always had a good experience there. My friend and I normally go there and share a panini and have a ice cream float. Really nice in the summer as it over looks the beach and the sea and you can grab an ice-cream, it does get very busy, well worth going, so nice to see it has kept going and has a nice vintage feel

An excellent place to visit for lovely ice cream sundaes, knickerbocker glories, banana splits and the like. Also serves light lunches and hot tidbits. Friendly and great value. Opposite Deal Pier, easy to access and well worth a visit for a retro style feel good experience.

Visited here a couple of times over the past week and WOW!. A great range of ice cream sundeas to choose from as well as traditional snacks like toasted sandwiches, breakfasts, toasted tea cakes etc. But the ice cream is a must. I tried the choc & nut sunday and the cookie doe sundae, both excellent with generous helpings of ice cream, cream etc. My son had the strawberry sundae, with fresh straberries, vanilla and strawbery ice cream, cream etc. If you go to Deal check this place out you wont be dispointed. They also have a side winow where you can just get ice cream in a cornet while you walk along the sea front and again a very good selection of ice creams to choose from.

needed an ice cream and found the parlour excellent although could have guessed by the queues for the ice cream, amusingly my grandchildren found that doggie ice creams hilarious but the dogs loved them

Whatever your choice of ice cream you will find it here. I particularly enjoy the soft ice cream which is a mix of vanilla and strawberry topped off with a flake.

We visited the parlour because it was raining heavily and needed somewhere to shelter, but the ice creams were fantastic I had the knickerbocker glory and it was delicious, my husband had the banana split again delicious. Not expensive. Took my back to my childhood. The staff were friendly and very helpful - you weren't rushed even though it was really busy.

We had a lovely ice-cream recently at this place whilst out walking with our French friends in Deal. What a lovely place, really quaint and straight out of the 50s/60s.I would reccomend the salted caramel flavour, lovely. Then we strolled along the seafront and took in the fresh sea air. A cracking day.

Traditional ice cream sundaes at yester year prices! Fantastic service, with a smile from friendly, helpful staff. Many happy memories of my youth, which I get to re-live with my children. Easily one of my favourite places to take my family!!! We love it!!

Love the Toastie sandwiches that are served here. Each time I visit Deal I just have to visit the Deal Beach parlour for my Toastie. The parlour offers a great selection of snacks, drinks and ice creams at affordable prices.

Deal Beach Parlour is a deal! They have all the old time ice creams such as rum and raisin, mint, strawberry etc, all with the old traditional taste. Divine.

When on holiday in Deal, we are sure to visit here almost everyday for an ice cream or latte and sometimes a combination of the two!It is a large buzzy place, immaculately clean and with incredibly friendly young staff. A retro "back in the day" beach style decor and fair prices for good size portions. Do go. Places like this should be supported by locals and holiday makers alike.

I live in Deal and I have been coming here since I was 11 ( 51 years). Yesterday was my Daughter-in-Laws birthday and I, along with a few of her friends & children, went for Birthday treats. I asked for 'my favourite treat' (and being a big kid at heart and why I go there)...a strawberry ice cream float ... I was told..'we don't do them'... ...I then politely said, that the usuall LOVELY STAFF had always been able to make me one ( A Sprite with a dash of Strawberry Crusher Milk Shake & vanilla ice cream)...the reply from the lady serving me was ...'Well they shouldn't have done that'....REALLY???...but she reluctantly, and WITH ATTITUDE, made it for me.... I found out later 'THE LADY', was the OWNER of the business. As a previous owner myself of a business on Deal Seafront, it might pay her to remember, in the winter months, your LOCALS also keep your business AFLOAT!! First time I have EVER been disappointed with the service here.

A well established venue which offers both hot and cold food and a wide variety of ice creams- has been in situ for about 50 years. staff are helpful and know their clientele.

I love this "old fashion" ice cream / coffee shop. Been coming here every summer and even in between with family and friends. It's got a great feel about it and is a step back in time. Loving all the old photos on the walls and of course the coffees, hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and Mr Whippies. :)
