The Hare & Hounds in Dover

I was one of a party of 9. We were all impressed with the quality and quantity of our lunch. Great service and Hop Head beer. Will visit again. Thanks.

My wife and I decided to go for an afternoon pint/vodka on Tuesday 3rd October 23. As we were out by the Hare & Hounds, we thought we would give it a try. We are glad we did. We had a very warm welcome from the young lady behind the bar. Her name is Wendy. A few other people arrived, and we had a very nice afternoon with some of the regular's of the pub. Needless to say we had to call a taxi home. We will definitely return to this pub. Thank you Wendy.

Lovely bar food for our lunch. Friendly and helpful barmaid. The place was empty and the garden furniture could do with a bit of a spruce up... got a splinter from the table when I passed my other half the salt... but I can see the potential for it being a good local buzz when it's busy. Will definitely try it again over an evening.

Went for Sunday Lunch , sevice excellent, food hot as were plates , food portions are on the large side , plenty of veg and meat . Will be back as the prices are very reasonable.

We had a very friendly welcome and obliging staff. Traditional pub fare on the menu with hot and cold food that’s reasonably priced

I visited here for a family meal as we are visiting the area for a few days, we all couldn’t of been happier to choose this pub, fantastic meal, fantastic service for a great price. Would 100% recommend.

Enjoyed a good traditional Sunday roast lunch today, with generous portion of lamb and a big Yorkshire pudding. Don’t normally eat dessert but was persuaded to have the sticky toffee pudding and custard, which were excellent. Cheery, attentive staff, too.

The Hare and Hounds is a small, friendly pub that offers good beer, wine and food. We enjoyed the large log fire, too. Northbourne village is beautiful and unspoiled, probably unchanged in 100 years

I had a roast dinner with family 4 of us went, I had the soup to start but when it arrived it was cold, and when I had the roast dinner come out it was not very hot either very Luke warm a real shame as the food was nice.

If you do physical work and want first class pub food that actually fills you up...plus the beers are good too. Very rare to get good pub food in portions for the workers. Also, it is an old fashioned local pub, not a restaurant. Highly recommend.

A nice village pub, with a couple of real ales on hand pump and a large outside area for warm weather. I can't speak to the food as it wasn't tried, but well worth a visit.

Ate here recently under the new management and was amazed at how they have turned this place around. Food and service was excellent! Previous experience under last manager was extremely poor. I'm glad I gave it another chance.

Finally found a pub in the area serving food on a Monday! Nice typical pub grub. Made an effort to feed the kids too offering them chicken nuggets and chip etc that wasn't listed on the menu. Lots of board games to keep the family entertained. Shame the beer garden didn't have a little play area for the children. Nice decor and friendly, cheerful service

Have been to the Hare and Hounds several times in recent weeks and it is lovely. Always a warm welcome and good food. It’s an excellent local pub that provides a comfortable place to relax, drink, eat and socialise.

Pleasant enough out in the garden. Bit of a dour atmosphere at the bar.

Quick lunch in the Hare and Hounds Northbourne. Roy and Brian so friendly. Pub freshly refurbished with air-conditioning. The village is beautiful. We had prawn ciabatta with chips, salad and coleslaw acoompanied by London Pride and Bushells cider. Can't fault the food or beer. There is a good range of pub food.

Stayed in campervan, made very welcome, had great food in the pub and even helped us out when run out of milk. Hope to visit again when this way.

All food made on site. Quality of the food was excellent took about 30-40 mins but was worth the wait. Burger's were just perfect! Nathan the chef is brilliant! also thank you to the staff and everyone in the pub who sang Happy birthday to my partner 😁

Great roast dinner and decent bottle of London pride.. couldnt ask for more.

After waiting over an hour to finally be served our roast dinner. Which arrived wrong as it was the table next to ours order. Which they were waiting for after their starters. So after changing the roast pork for beef we waited 5 and half minutes before the vegetables & gravy arrived. So the meat & potatoes are now cold the broccoli was mush well over cooked and gravy was just stock. No Yorkshire puddings as apparently run out. Which is hard to believe as quick & easy to make a patch up for another 8 roasts dinners considering the time we and the other table waited. The other table then cancelled their order. Free round of drinks offered but we decided to have our dessert else where. Will not be rushing back.

Just went into the Hare and Hounds Northbourne for a meal and the service was atrocious… We sat down and was just left there waiting for someone to serve us I will definitely not be going back in their and I put a one star out of sympathy. Go in at your own peril

We popped in for a snack, our baguettes were lovely overflowing with filling. Very good will definitely eat there again.

We visited for lunch on day 1 for the new management team. A warm welcome and friendly efficient service. A few little hiccups but you would expect that on day 1. Good food and nice atmosphere. We will definitely return.

Not normally one to write reviews but, my wife and I booked Sunday lunch and it was absolutely beautiful! Everything cooked to perfection , rost beef was moist,tender and full of flavour. Our deserts, mine a cheeseboard my wife, homemade apple crumble and custard. Good job we didnt attempt all 3 courses! Will be back again very soon.

Tell the staff exactly what you want and your wish is their command. Expect to wait a little because it's all freshly cooked. It's not MacDonalds!

We had a meal for two with mulled wine and a real fire. The pub itself is beautiful and I have eaten here many times in the past with former management. This was the first time under the new management team. Sadly we were fairly solitary in out attendance which was a shame as the staff were friendly and cheerful. We ate off the standard menu and enjoyed the soup of the Week and a generous and tasty

Fantastic meal at their dining club. Well run in the evenings on normal weeknights. Well worth a visit for a homely country pub setting. Come and support local pubs!

We were hungry, it was Friday lunchtime and we were driving from Dover to Ramsgate. We saw a sign for the Hare and Hounds. Yes, perfect. It is, actually, a long way from the main road. It is Northbourne. But so worth the few minutes...

Popped in on the way back from Thanet, after seeing the sign on the highway, made me a bit peckish, was surprised to find a lovely little pub with nice food and pleasant staff.well done, and good luck with your future, its a good start!

My family and I were hoping to find somewhere in the area where we had to help out in the afternoon. The Hare and Hounds was just what we needed. Friendly, welcoming staff, good beer and food that the children liked. My soup was wonderful and home made. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We were out walking and popped into this village pub just for a half. The lady behind the bar was so friendly as was the new pub dog. Fool looked lovely and the beer was well kept. Well worth a visit if you are passing.

We were a family of thirteen, we booked the Sunday lunch in advance, on arrival there was a huge table laid out for us, the girls that were serving the bar and food were really lovely, nothing was too much trouble, some of us had starters these were served and cleared away promptly, the Sunday lunch was fantastic, everything was hot and we were able to serve ourselves the selection of veg, cauliflower cheese was amazing I might add, there was a good selection of dessert too, everyone ate everything with mo complaints. If you haven't yet tried the Sunday lunch, do give it a try it really was good, I will definitely be returning !

We love the Hare and hounds at Northbourne. A great selection of drinks, extremely friendly landlord and landlady. Beautiful roaring fire is perfect when the weather outside is shocking. The food is amazing and I believe all locally sourced. Nothing ever seems to be a problem it’s great. If your looking for somewhere to go for a bite to eat or even a casual drink you will not be disappointed.

Came for mother's Day with the family, was busy as expected but services and good were really good.

Returned to the Hare and Hounds about a year after our first visit ( more due to the fact we live 256 miles away ) and still the cosy friendly pub with great value home cooked food. A wonderful fire was roaring in the large fireplace and this creates a lovely welcome on a cold evening as we enjoyed a great homely meal. We used the motorhome stop over facility which is great for the ferry crossing (20 mins away) and Jade and Danny were really helpful and friendly. Great to see the pub is doing well in their second year!
