Lovely pub in the middle of nowhere. Everyone is friendly great garden nice cosy bar in a good setting The food is absolutely outstanding and we've now eaten 3 times since moving to sandwich Cod, burgers, lemongrass chicken we've had all sorts. The home made ice cream is the best I've ever tasted with weird flavours like wholemeal bread that just somehow works and oh my god the coconut lush.

we came to the pub for a meal with family for a celebration. It was quiet initially but soon got very busy. I had a half pint of prawns, very tasty and plenty of them followed by 1/4 rack of ribs. I was lucky as mine fell off the bone, my husband wasnt quite so lucky, but our dog did well out of it. The onion rings & chips were lovely and lots of them, we were all to full for dessert.

What a find at the end of our walk. A friendly pub with an interesting menu at reasonable prices. Our meal in the pleasant garden didn't disappoint. We had two different pork dishes, both of which were delicious. The tequila pulled pork just fell apart, it was so tender. And we enjoyed hearing the origins of the dish from the friendly landlord. If we lived locally we would definitely be back to work our way through the menu.

My Wife and I were aware of Ian and Kim’s standards from when they were previously at the Hop Pocket in Bossingham. Once we discovered they had relocated to the Fitzwalter Arms we were delighted to be reunited with them and have enjoyed several visits since, the most recent one being this week with friends who have also now adopted it. They agree with us it’s everything you could wish for in a British Pub. A delightful gem of a pub nestled in a quiet little hamlet. Tastefully fitted out and atmospheric dining areas and bar and spotlessly clean toilets. The Menu includes choices for all tastes, several dishes of which we, along with our friends, have tried and the quality and value for money of the dishes is exceptional. If this was a London Pub you would have to book months in advance but luckily it isn’t, it’s a little secret that I wasn’t sure I wanted to share but that wouldn’t be fair to Ian and Kim who deserve every success as they certainly are doing all the right things. Keep up the good work - we shall return.

I was so pleasantly surprised with the food experience at this pub restaurant. On entry, the pub is traditional, with a separate dining area which was laid out well, yet looked like it needed a little love. The menu was small, didn’t give much away, other than an Asian vibe. I ordered the sweet chilli chicken with rice. When it arrived I could smell how tasty this was about to be. It was packed with chicken & vegetables. So tasty, I really enjoyed it. Very happy. For dessert I opted for the chocolate brownie; clearly homemade, large slab of brownie and served warm with ice cream. The food experience was actually amazing! It’s well worth finding this place if you’re looking for a tasty, filling and affordable meal.

This pub used to be my local and, unfortunately, in those days, was way out in the wilderness in every respect. However, a recent change of hands, and I have now been back here twice recently, and will go many many times in future. New tenants used to run the Hop Pocket In Bossingham years ago, another excellent pub. They have transformed this place - interior far more welcoming and roaring fires in Winter. Good beers on tap, and, most importantly, amazing pub food. There is good standard (but v well cooked) pub fayre on offer, but this is bolstered by unbelievably good Vietnamese food. The Chef is Vietnamese, and I have eaten her food before at their previous pub, and I believe they had a restaurant in Canterbury at one point. Went with friends last night and had their full Vietnames dinner menu, which was all exceptional. Vietnamese cooking of the highest order. This place deserves to do very well.

It was so disappointing when Ian and Kim left the Hop Pocket in Bossingham and now the good news is that they have re-emerged at the Fitzwalter Arms with the same fantastic food as before. Went there today for lunch for the first time and was not disappointed. The food was great and so was the ambience. Unsurprisingly, the place was full with diners and drinkers. Although it's a bit of a journey for us, it's so worthwhile and we'll definitely be back....soon

Update to earlier review. We booked midweek lunch with friends at The Firtzwalter Arms - it’s such a pretty location and the pub/restaurant has recently undergone a make-over, it’s very pretty and characterful inside with a good space and lovely light. We each chose something different from their extensive and varied menu and we were pleasantly surprised at how gluten friendly everything was - in fact, all 4 meals were gluten free - which meant I could pinch hubbies chips! The Half Rack of Ribs was ginormous, and we all enjoyed our meals very much. Service was good, and owner friendly and ‘available’ which was good to see. We ended up having coffee in their huge Beer Garden - all in all a great meal and great experience. Definitely highly recommend!

What a fab surprise! Had been in for a drink previously and then decided to go for lunch with friends. With 2 gluten free in our group, we were thrilled and delighted to find a very gluten-free kitchen - quite a few ‘different’ dishes too so above your average offering. We all thoroughly enjoyed the delightful interior of this old pub and friendly and knowledgable host and staff .. what a great experience! We’re arranging to go back for Sunday Lunch and really looking forward to it! Thanks so much to the lovely folk at The Fitzwalter Arms, we’ll see you again soon!

We stopped in for lunch knowing that there are new owners and were delighted to find that one of our go-to walking pubs has been reinvigorated and to top it off the food is FABULOUS!
